Jo my MO does acknowledge joint and muscle pain as a SE from Tamox so I am sure that is what it is.  Just seems to be getting worse.  DH told me to take a Celebrex to see if it would help so I did that a little while ago.  At least this way I will now.  And with seeing the pain Dr tomorrow I will at least have something to tell him in case he has any bright ideas.  If not I may have to go see my MO sooner than my visit.  I thought I might also try to get a massage in tomorrow afternoon if the girl can take me and see if that helps.  Glad the Elavil is already working it took about 1 1/2 weeks for it to really kick in for me.  DH was teasing me about being a whinner a little while ago.  He loves to joke and I am really not a complainer.  Before BC I never went to the Dr., except my yearly exam stuff.  About 4 years ago I had a really bad sinus infection that I finally went to the Dr about and got rid of it.  seems I just can't seem to not have aches and pains since bc.  I am ready to feel normal again whatever that is.

Sherry - DO NOT TAKE CELEBREX.  I just checked on drugs.com and that is one that has major drug interactions.  You may want to pull it up on the internet and read about it.  I did remember reading that was one of those drugs that is a no-no.

Before BC, it was the annual stuff - pap & mammo - and to the GP 3 times a year for my blood pressure and cholesterol meds.  I did not have to write anything down on the calendar.  Now, my calender looks like a connect the dots games.

Well Jo I already took it and the pain pill I took last night was also on the list.  But who is looking at midnight in the dark.  oh well.  I have a call in to my MO to see what they say.  Also Elavil is on the Moderate interactions list.  So pretty much everything I have taken since taking tammi is on some kind of list.  Hate the thought that I am putting my body through all these SE's and then taking other drugs that might make it not work.  I think I need to be a walking encyclopedia.

Sherry - I just looked up Elavil with Tamox - OMG!  That doctor lied to me.  He said there would be no problem taking the two together.  I specifically told him I had some anxiety taking other medicines while on Tamoxifen that lessen it's effect.  I am going to print out the information and get it over to that pain doctor - he is a pompous ass anyway.  This is why I check the list on a regular basis.  It might be overkill but who else is going to it?  Seems you have to be very careful who you trust these days.

How long have you been on Elavil?

Jo I just talked to my MO's nurse and she looked up the newer meds that I have been taking and she said they have three drug databases that they use for interactions to worry about.  She said that Celebrex is OK and Elavil is OK, however I had taken Darvocet and she said that is not OK that I need to take Loritabs instead, but they make me really goofy.  But I guess if I do it at night it won't matter.  I also asked if the hip and should pain could be tied into the nerve pains and she said yes.  So that may be why I have been hurting more.  I told her I was going to see the pain Dr tomorrow so she is going to talk to the MO and call me back if he wants anything different. The Celebrex seems to be helping the pain.  Guess I will know when I do my yoga class tonight.

Sherry - Whew!  One less thing to worry about.  Even though it has been one day, I am already getting some relief and hope I get a bit more.  This is starting to feel really good.  I almost forgot what it was like to live pain free.

Paula - I use drugs.com.  If you type in Tamoxifen drug interactions, that website will be at the top or pretty close to it.  I have used it many times.  If I still have questions, I always call my onc.

As for Tink whacking me, heck, I will just give her some happy juice and she can't aim worth a darn.  But now that you brought it up - WHACK WHACK - gotta practice for tomorrow night. hehehe

    Afternoon ladies!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow I take a few days off and you have been having way too much fun without me.

Please, please do not take off the pictures of the cocktails and food. I went to my 4th live strong meeting last night. It was all about nutrition and portion sizes. Well, after looking at the portion sizes, I've discovered my portion sizes could feed a third world. So I'm going to rely on my tammy buddies to provide virtual food.

Thankfully my hair has grown back thick.  My nails not so.

Going to attempt to make split pea burgers for dinner. Don't ask. LOL

    Hugs to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Jules

Why can't I also get the weight loss side effectSurprised

NormaJean65 - I am 54, was still having periods, although they were irregular and was put on Tamox with no hysterectomy.  I am HER2- though and I don't honestly know if that makes a difference.  Tamoxifen has stopped my periods 100%  I was told I'd be on it for about 2 years then switch to an AI for the duration.

Linda_M ~ I have been on the Tmox since Sept 12. I have had the weird pains in my groin, ankle and calf.  They come and they stay for awhile and then, just as suddenly they are gone.  I saw my Naturopathic Oncologist today and she said it can be low Vit D levels or Tamoxifen side effects or both.  Goofy, isn't it?

Jo.......and Sherry........         Weird that Jo's pain dr. would say the boob pain, nerve damage is from the radiation. My MO says NO.....pain dr. said could be, or could be from the surgery.  IF it is from rads.......someone not gonna be a happy camper. If you remember????........ they coded me wrong. I wasn't suppose to have radiation! (had two treatments when my surgeon caught it and stopped them!)

Sorry Jo that pain dr. talked to you like that!! I HATE THAT!!! FROM ANYONE!!!!!

I can't remember if it was you or Sherry that was talking about the nerve block being done in the boob. It isn't. They did the needle in my back both times (spine).  Never touched the boob with a needle, and after the numbing needle I didn't feel anything (first time I did, and he stopped and put more numbby in!)      Thankfully I have a great pain dr. I couldn't handle another jerk for a dr. right now!!!! I think I would go nuts!!! or balistick on them! hehee

Sherry hope your appt. goes good. Let us know.

Alicia, hope you had a bit of a better day!!

Tink.......keep up with that tude!! :)

Hugs to everyone. WIll check in tomorrow. I get to rest in the morning. No more work till tomorow night :)

Hi. Havent posted in a while but have been reading. Alicia, i have to admit that i was reading, waiting for your news. So so happy for you. Sherry, i had excruciating hip pain in december. Of corse everyone said it couldnt befrom the tami and i had a blood test that showed a possible autoimmune result so i got sent to a rheumatologist. He was great. Said no autoimmune disease and that joint pain canbe from tami and also dx bursitis in my hip. He gave me a shot of cortisone directly into my hip and i have been fine since. Incredible recovery from that specific thing. Still have joint pain but that was unique. Could this be the case with you? Sandee, that pill in the throat thing sounded awful. Glad you are ok. What we go through...

Speaking of which, i guess now i could use some support and happy thoughts. Had my first post dx MRI and tho prelim read was good they called later to tell me that they see a small 3mm something that really looks like nothing in my other breast, and just to be super cautious we should US it. On US it has all the markings of a benign cyst but they aspirated it just to be safe, now waiting for path. She really doesnt think its anything and i am trying to beleive her and stay positive but i cant stand this awful waiting. Was also hard to be back in the same room where the original dx was made less than a yr ago. Talk about Post Traumatic Stress...

But the good news is that i completed the 3.5K swim across the Sea of Gallilee on Weds that i had been training for for the last sixmonths! Decided, WTH, and did this two days after the biopsy. I have never done anything remotely like this but decided that if ever there was a time to push myself and do something healthy and fun this was it. (How bad can things be if i can do this ?) Last K felt like childbirth it was so hard but i did it! Was really happy (and distracted) on Weds.

Sorry about all the typos. On my phone. Love to all of you and thanks for your support!

    Shari

sunangel - It would surprise me if there were two doctors out there at agreed on anything.  I could go get a second opinion but don't want another doctor appt.  Don't know that is it worth it at this point.  I do know I am finally pain free and that is good enough for me.  The reason for the pain is imaterial at this point.  Sherry was talking about the nerve block in the boob.  However it is done would be well worth it.

sgreenarch - Crossing fingers for B9 results.  Try to relax and breathe - the waiting really sucks. Congrats on doing the 3.5 mile swim.  You must be in really good shape.

Sherry - Good luck today on your pain doctor appt - let us know what he saiys.

It is TGIF!  The weekend is coming up and a long 3 day holiday weekend.

    Hi Ladies,

New here, I've been on Tamoxifen since November.  Just had labs done this month, elevated creatinine, repeated the labs, same result.  Has anyone had this experience with Tamoxifen?  Or other kidney related SEs?  I'm more worried about my kidneys than I am about cancer!

    Thanks, Julia

Hi there folks. Fo the last few days I have not been getting email notifications of new posts, has anyone had that problem?

Anywhoo, I just read something that said the use of Melatonin can prevent breast cancer. Just wondering if any of you have heard of this or if your doctor advised you to take it. And if so, what dosage? The study I read said 20 mg a day.

Hey Tink, I looked up the citus juice and Tamo taking.  One site says no OJ.  Another says not within 1 hr of each other.  I still pretty new to the whole looking around the www on all this medical stuff.  So Im not for sure what source is reliable.  Im gonna ask my doctor next week when I see her.  I hope she might shed some light on this.  Thanks for posting this cause I still have a zillion questions and this is important stuff to know!
