Chabba - Your surgeon sounds like mine.  He is also very caring and has a good sense of humor.  He was the one who convinced me to see the pain doctor - I can't say no to him.  Particularly since he took the time to do many tests and never gave up on me.  Went out of his way to take care of me.  So yes, I know what you mean when you say you have faith in your surgeon.

Chabba, are you getting your mammo done locally?  If you are anywhere near Olympia or on your way to Seattle let me know?  Need company?

Jo wish I could offer the same, however, the private jet is in for service.

Send prayers to all the troops foreign and domestic around the world.

My son is taking a year off of university to do his basic/tech training with the Air National Guard. Jo he'll be down your neck of the wood, San Antonio. HOT!    Why do they have to grow up so quicklySurprised.

Jules - I hate it when my jet is in for service - LOL!

TerriD - So sorry to hear about your sister.  If you go the search box on the right side at the top you will see where it says "Jump To A Forum".  You can click on that and a box will drop down.  From there you will find forums for Stage 4.  There will be numerous topics to choose from.  Best wishes for your sister and sending (((HUGS))) to both of you.

Yes Terri....Sorry honey, about your Sister....Try this..

http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8  The women on these links will be able to help you find out about all of this.... I see one there for Stage lV with liver mets....so look into these.

Also there are a LOT of women on other threads that are stage lV  and are like 10 years out!  There are also a lot of newer drugs out now, and they are helping  women.  Some drugs are like chemo, and they know how to treat what your Sister has.....

Good luck  sweet Sister!  If you want to come here just to talk, you can do that too!

    (((((( hugs)))))) Jeannette

Okay if that link doesn't take you there, highlight, copy & paste it in your browser bar.....

Juels - We have a center in Aberdeen that does mamo's and ultrasound.  Much handier than Olympia.

The only thing about my breast surgeon I don't like is that for at least five years he has been talking about retiring.

Chabba I love my BS as well and she is the one who really listened to me complain about the pain and was proactive with the meds and then said if it does not go away she wanted me to see the pain Dr. which I have and he have me what i believe is a miracle cream.  It has to be mixed at a compounding pharmacy but it is good stuff.

Terri sorry about your sister and hope you are able to find the forum that will give you the info that you need.  But you are welcome to hang with us anytime here.

Jo thank you so much for your service to our country and I am prayer for all those in the military serving our country.  Especially those that are away from their families.  They sacrifice so much.

I must have been a really good girl today.  Took my mom to austin to get a laptop and she bought me one too.  I really needed it because mine is old and giving me problems.  Just had not crashed yet.  I have been babying it.  My Birthday is next month so she told me happy early birthday and a big thankful for all the days I have been taking off work to take them here and there for the doctors and everything else that goes along with with all this cancer crap.  I told here I would not have had it any other way and I thought the laptop was excessive but she would not budge so I came home with it.  Hopefully I will have time to set mine up tomorrow and Monday I will go to her house and get hers set up.

Sherry - Now that awesome news - have fun with the new puter - your mom is soooo sweet.

sgreenarch - Big congrats - now you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Although I hate the thought of having to take another pill, I have to say that being pain free is wonderful.  I always thought this is the way it should have been once I finished rads with the exception of dealing with the rad fatigue and also knowing that would go away in time.  I am finally looking at the light at the end of the tunnel.

we all have appointments soon hm? My one year anniversary for last year'smammogram is the 17th of June..when I figure I will have the results back from the 7th ...when I have this year's mammogram...dreamt two nights ago that my breasts were balloons and I woke up with one completely uninflated....woke up with my hands on my boobs checking to ensure they were there....this is the third or fourth time that I have woken up with my hands on my breasts checking to see if they are there...can you say 'starting to feel anxious?"....

Tink- you can do it...having to add pills o the regime is a freak out but my dear....if the 20 mgs keeps the Ccells away...slowly slowly....is it possible to go to 15 first and then work your way up? I was given my second antibiotic in as many weeks because I scraped my left hand and it got infected....swollen shoulder on that side two..tok two pills and started to swell in my legs and break into red splotches....ok..so much for that antibiotic...too similar to how I react to pennicillin...pharmacist said it is healing so to stop ....crazy stuff...ladies, we cannot make this stuff up you know? our journey...our bodies healing...it will be ok.

Sandee - Glad to see you back - you were missed.

My screening mammo last year was Jul 7th followed by the diagnostic and US on Aug 5th.  This year I have a diagnostic on Jun 3rd - just around the corner.  I am scared sh**less.  Last year, it did not even occur to me that BC would be a possibility - boy, was I stupid.  Hope to get results quickly.

I was on tamoxifen for 6 years, 1990 to 1996.  Felt the best I've ever felt for those 6 years.  Lost weight, didn't have any more PMS and felt like excercising.  It did cause me to go into early menopause but I didn't mind.

Sandee... welcome back. So sorry you have had to go thru all that!! Hopefully the mend will be quick and you will be able to get back to as normal as possible without anything else going on for awhile!!!!!! :)

Just looked up my appt. for my six month mammo. It is Aug. 12th. Fun, fun......it was Aug. 18th. last year when I got my first mammo in two years.......I had skipped two years because of no insurance. Had had them faithfully for the years before that, then had that "I HAVE GOT TO GET THIS DONE" feeling in me, even told a fewwwwwww people I needed to and felt such an urgency to get it done......and yep it wasn't good. They found one spot they wanted to keep an "eye" on. OK......so I thought it was just a fibrocystic cyst like I had had in the past that they had watched before......but went back in Nov and in Dec. had to have lumpectomy. SO ......having to have my mammo in the same month this year does have me a little anxious about it.......even tho I probably would be anxious anyway!!

P.S.......why is it six month mammo.....when I had my surgery in Dec, you might ask.......well, they did an MRI in February, so they are going by that date for the six months.......... (just a side note for ya! :)

Hi All, had my six mo mammagram/US in feb and just had yearly MRI. Both times i had to do major work on my head not to mention double up on the xanax the night before. My dad, a twenty yr cancer survivor says this part never gets much easier. He is nervous at each yearly visit.

I was grateful for the ultimately (took me a while as they had to

Aspirate a cyst found on the MRI and only got path back yesterday that it was B9 and when i resumed breathing...) good news but its funny, it takes a while to sink in! I needed my husband to repeat it to me a few times. Also not easy to back in the rooms where it all began. But i guess my hope is that we can move on to have healthy spans between scans when we think less and less often about BC. Just get crazy a few days before, rather than practically full time as i have been!

Good luck to you. Prayers are with you,

    Shari

Shari - Congrats on the B9 results.  I am told it does not get any better each year but hopefully the anxiety will be less and less.

Memorial Day today.  Please take a moment today to say a prayer for our troops and let's hope they come home soon.
