WooHoo, Yeah DorK, good to see ya! Hey, don't splash though! J/K. The a/c guy STILL has not come to repair our upstairs unit...has been off for 8 months now! Was new, and apparently defective, but STILL can't get him to fix it...even w/ high price he quoted us. Paid thousands for NOTHING!!! So thank god our downstairs unit is still working, as I know it is working overtime. But was able to get it down to 72 downstairs (mid 90's outside). Don't even want to venture upstairs right now!!!!

Cannot believe all the viruses we all got!!! Hope your puter is returned to you soon, Gail.

WHEE! Pau Hana dwinks all awound.....

Wahine...not me who likes the mint drink....I only drink 3 things...water, herbal tea and red wine....My tickets...I bought them seperate as they are for seperate trips, on different days....Denver to Toronto, Toronto to FLL to see my parents who live in Boynton Beach and then Florida to Israel and home.....using United miles to Toronto, bought ticket to Fl and using credit card miles plus extra for Israel trip...think I have housing worked out....procrastination sometimes pays off...I'm going to stay with friends in Jerusalem and can rent out others friends house if I need an additional time.....so everything is falling into place....

Up early this morning....I'm tired...and my sinuses are bothering me so makes my eyes feel really heavy....going to try to make it til the weather is over on the news so I can sleep close to morning time with the help of Ativan and Ambien.....Got back to Denver at 9am....went shopping at Goodwill...50% off....didn't get anything, but DD#2 found 3 jean skirts and a top....then met neuropsych to go over test results....will tell everyone about that tomorrow....took DD to get sandles at DSW, met an old friend who I did private practice with years ago and she now lives in ON, to Kohls and then home.....all the "running" sounds crazy, but it actually kept me from sleeping during the day...I haven't seen my friend in almost 6 years and it was like it was just last week since we got together....

Tomorrow is the last day for teachers...I only have to work about 1/2 day....then off on Wednesday and TH and Friday I'm taking a two day training on Autism....I leave in 22 days and the time is going to go soooo fast....so much to do, but not really sure what all it is other than to be sure DD has everything she needs for camp....

Beans....how are you feeling?  Missed seeing your posts

Junie.....not sure if you posted this week-end...how are you doing

Kymn....how many more chemos.....Working is tough during chemo, but for me, it gave me a sense of normalcy and kept me from feeling like a "victim"

Husker....are you still on the music trip

Wahine....did I read right, 1400 people on a cruise ship?  thats huge...DD#2 is going on a cruise with my parents in August...they took her on one 3 years ago....

Dork....I don't like the heat....anything above 75 is too hot for me...and I don't like AC, but AC is better than a sweltering hot house....hope your house cools off....DH says its supposed to get near 90 here in Denver by end of week...ugh!!!

Stanzie...great pic...your new avatar....its a good thing people comment on each other as I woudn't have noticed the pic...guess I don't look closely enough at things....

    Goldie....what is FJ?  what a nice mini-getaway....

    Chrissy....hows everything down under

I know I'm leaving someone or two or three out....and I apologize....Gail....hows things by you....to everyone else, please know I didn't leave you out on purpose....brain is shutting down...going to get my jammies on, read the Sunday paper and get into bed in 1/2 hour.....Sweet dreams....Karen

Hmmmmmm...Karen, if it isn't you, then maybe Husker that likes the Baileys Choc Mint?? I  know it is SOMEONE here, help me girlz so I can thank the right loungette! Karen, it wasn't 1400 passengers, it holds 4400 passengers! And it was nearly full, so LOTS of people to contend with. BUt usually not crowded anywhere on ship....only when we had to be tendered at their private island. Glad you got all the tix and housing worked out!!! Hope you can sleep tonight....I am now a fan of melatonin as it works very well for me.

Tomorrow morn I am going to a place where you put together entrees to bring home and cook whenever you want it. Never done that b4, but am trying 3 different menus, so will get a good idea if we like their recipes or not. They said to bring wine, or something else to drink but it seems toooo early for wine at 10am, so maybe the Baileys Choc Mint would be good??

Good night all....hope everyone had a great day....was pretty quiet here today, except for my ramblings!!! Oh, we still have so many cicadas, and now my dogs are eating them! Yucko.

    Sweet dreams......

quick pop in while Jocks ices down my dog beers and finds me a hammock in the shade--away from the pool splashers!!!   Have had a very nice holiday week end but had trouble all day accesssing this web site....all seems fine now.

Wahine--welcome home!!   going somewhere to "make" your dinners to take home sounds neat.   Have read about that.   Don't know if we have anything like that locally---let us know how it goes!  And, shoot, go ahead and take some wine--if it's 10:00 a.m. your time, it's gonna be 5 p.m. SOMEWHERE!!!

Lori--you and DH have such fun outings!   One of these days, you're going to find THE "wagon"!!!!

Karen--you're getting as hard to keep up with as Wahine!  Glad that all the travel plans are falling into place.

Is Beaniebaby still under the weather?   Hope she checks in soon.   I'm prob confused, but Kymn--is there no way you can take a break from work until your tx is over?

Chrissy--sounds like your trip to the states is beginning to gel and things are falling into place.   Looking forward to meeting you!

Dork--just curious--is that pool of yours heated?  LOL!  I maybe need to have Jocks come with me for a week with a hammock and dog beers--but, he can't enter your cave!!!

Stanzie--guess I missed your post--did your lovely house not get selected for the next movie?   Hard to believe, as your home looks lovely!

NM--looking forward to hanging out with you during the week days--that's gonna be FUN!!!

Can't keep up with Claire--she rides that bike too far, too fast!!!

Know I've missed someone--no offense--don't want to lose my post by going back to read.  Big HUGGSSS to ALL!

Welcome back Kathy!!!   Sounds like your cruise was a whole lot of fun!   Glad to hear you all had a great Memorial weekend and we all remember those who have given the ultimate gift and those still in danger, past and present.

Kathy, thanks for the PM,  but I was joking about the upgrading sorry if you thought I was serious....lol  It happens if it happens, nive but not neccessary.

Junie, the trip is coming together nicely and I am sooo looking forward to meeting a lot of the girls, I only wish it could be more but money and time constraints will unfortunately prevent that.

Well now, feeling a little tired today and it's chilly here do I thing I'll head for the lounge with the open fire, have me some of the choc/mint baileys and just relax!

    TITZ UP ALL!!!

Stanzie, Hoping your irrigation guy shows up today!!! Our a/c guy FINALLY scheduled us for late Thursday...been waiting so many months, and heat indexes will be 100+ all week. You prob are having similar temps! Sooooooo steamy. DH had the sprinkler system going since early this am...and our water is high here, but better than losing plants, grass, etc.

Chrissy, Sorry....was just trying to help...thought you were serious! LOL.

Kymn, Thanks.....thought maybe it was Husker too, since it wasn't Karen.

Junie, so GLAD you got back onto this site!! Missed you. Going to go to Tunica soon????? I think Hunk will think we don't like him anymore w/ his new haircut.....since we haven't been back for awhile. Hoping for some really good offers, since they have reopened. And salivating for that draft ShockTop!!

Ok....gotta go make some yummy dinners......

    Ciao! I mean CHOW!

    Have a great day girlzzzzzz!

NM, the "K" in DorK is the first letter in her last name. Dor, part of her first name (Dorothy) thus DorK. So glad you will have your weeks free and only have to work weekends, wow! ........and make more $$$.

Stanzie, that is a LONG day for a child, wow. Can't say I blame the kids for not wanting  to try out for a play. Funny how long ago we thought the age we are at was old! I know I used to go over and do so much for my mom, she would have been 50 at the time. Mostly yard stuff, but I just figured she was too old to handle it. Now I see it was just laziness and preferring that someone else do it.

OMG Stanzie, the big boob gal in the bar and all of your stuff on your computer! Certainly they wouldn't look at someone's personal stuff. At least, one would hope they wouldn't! Sorry about the bad martini.

Wow Karen, that is a ton of traveling. The only time I was gone for that long was driving to Tulsa for my radiation treatments! I was there for 6 weeks, I think. You sure had a busy shopping day. I think a lot of the excitement for a trip is just being excited about it the weeks before. An FJ is my ride! Toyota FJ Cruiser. Mine looks just like this one. Except mine has runners? under the doors. To step on and to keep mud from splashing on it so much.

Chrissy you too, you must be so excited!

Kathy, welcome home! Funny story about the hammock and your DH! I think it is Husker that likes the Bailey's Choc. Mint? TMI about the dogs and cicadas! I hear them here now.........but not tons of them, thank goodness!

Stanzie, I think you read Kathy's post at warp speed cuz like you said.......I think she is typing at warp speed. I think she does everything at warp speed!

Junie, no biggie if we don't find a wagon...we do have a small one. DH likes doing those surprises for me. However I was less than pleased when he woke me at 5am and I had to get up, shower and pack. I like to relax in the morning when I get up, not get moving.

Mitch I am with you and everyone else.........BEANS, hope you are ok.

Oh, Kittycat said to tell everyone she says hi!

Spent all day outside yesterday, sunny and 75 PERFECT!  DH got a lot done on the Shady Lady. I'll try and some pics posted this week. Now I must get to work........wonder who I bumped in to?

Goldi - very cool car!!! Never have seen one of those around here! Well I wouldn't care for the 5:00am thing either but love that he surprises you! Never have been that lucky with those male creatures.

NM- Well I know there was something I wanted to say but now that it is on the other page I don't think I can do it.....

Isn't it funny how ... well at least I do... I think I know what each of us would be like if we all got together even though it is just through writing these posts. I did get to meet Kathy and LOL! I'd say she is a lot like her posts, very sweet and kind, funny and full of energy!! I'm now thinking Kathy and Clair in the same room.... wonder if it would explode?

Hey... where is HD??? Is she alright??? Miss her! I was going to say I think NM, Goldie and HD are our grounding HTL's but then wait, tin foil, cartoons and funny surprises... ok so no one will actually ground us.

Still think the story of AStorm taking her dog's antibotic and all the jokes after that were just one of the funniest things ever. Still get tickled thinking about it.

Oh whoops cake is done... more ramblings later I know you all are waiting with bated breath ( really just wanted to use that expression!)

Yeah, Beans where are you? Hoping HD and Dee are doing well too. Miss you all when you don't stop by and say hi. Maybe some of our gals can use our prayers. DorK, is the chapel still inflated?? We peeked in the chapel on the ship.....very small but pretty....on 15th flr, top of ship and only thing there. I wish I had thought to stop in and pray for everyone here....but I will do so now, in our HTL chapel.

Kymn, I wish you could take some time off of work too. Must be hard to be there when you feel so sick. Hoping from now on, it will be smoother sailing.

Speaking of sailing...does anyone have any experience with a kayak or canoe (canoe to fit 2)? Thinking it might be fun, on our lake. Something easy to put in the back of the truck, and not too heavy.

Well, I guess you are right Lori and Stanzie....I sorta do type real fast....and sometimes do things quickly too. They said it would take 1-2 hrs to assemble the meals, but since I had only ordered 3 diff entrees, it only took 15 minutes! I had poured 2 shots of the Baileys Choc Mint over ice, thinking I would be there awhile. LOL. They said no one has done it that quickly....oh well. I think it prob usually takes just 20-60 ,min to do that amount anyway. Can't wait to try them! Will have one tonight and let you know. A lady there said she stopped drinking Baileys as it was 600 cal! About made me croak. Well, just looked it up and it is 117 cal/ounce. Not tooooooo bad. Anyway, was a fun day, shopping afterwards, with my Bailey's buzz. Now to get to work!!!!!

OH NO KYMN, that is just horrible. I am so sorry Frown, how come? I sure hope it's not because of BC! I have a girlfriend who's husband left her because of it. I don't understand that at all! .....and they should rot in hell!

Kathy, we used to go canoeing all the time, up north when I lived in MI. F U N! But if you are not careful, they do tip easy. NM said something about kayaking. I miss our girls too and always hope and pray that they are doing ok.

Thanks Mitch, I love my little FJ. Waiting with baited breath for more ramblings!

    Welcome Sanbar and congratulations!

Kymm........I am so sorry.  Hang in there.  Just the hardest time for all of us.  I am glad you have work as a connection with the world that you will need.  This is on top of the obvious financial piece.

Sanbar......we all need to celebrate every day.  I may celebrate cleaning the bathroom floor on my hands and knees.  So even the minor accomplishments.

I have been getting my brain sorted out today.  This month has been a major watershed personally as I get to the other side of the entire experience.  I am in such a different place than a month ago when I was screwing up the courage to attend the conference.

I am finally clear on a lot of things that I needed to get behind me in order to move forward.  Excited and also a bit scared.  But that is as it should be.

One major benefit from the whole BC experience is that I am now a master at eye makeup.  Can't believe how much better I now do the job than two years ago.  I think I know myself a lot better now too.

When I attended The Magic Flute, I was smiling at the Second Act where the hero has to go through all manner of trials to get to Wisdom.  Really, really describes the last two years.

Now, just for that happy ending.................   Oops, it's not an ending, but getting to another place in my life.  And about banishing the Queen of the Night to her realm for all eternity.

It's been quite the journey.  Now, there is one to celebrate!!!! - Claire

Goldie-take your time catching up, it's a lot more fun that way, I've found. What/where is the FJ? Glad you could get a lot of goodies for the garden, that's one of my favorite things to do, too, but I'm starting stuff from seeds this summer, as that's what the budget calls for right now. And, thanks to your good wishes, Sunday and Monday were BEAUTIFUL! In the 80's, sunny, bit of a breeze, just Beautiful!

Wahine-Sounds like the cruise was just great! The tablemate's marriage is either really, really strong or you are right and there's trouble brewing there! 4400 passengers sounds like just too big for me. The second to last cruise I went on the boat had 1200 passengers, and that was terrific! But I guess the trend is toward bigger and bigger ships now. No, I do not want to have a colonoscopy. It involves needles, it's just another wait and find out if it's cancer thing, and I had a bowel prep once and it was painful and miserable. I stopped having upper endoscopies because of how much it hurt, and that was BEFORE bc, it would be unbearable pain now, not to mention the wait to see if I have cancer thing again. I'd really rather not know, especially since I have no intention of ever going through the whole treatment thing again. I can have them done at the same time, but I don't trust the doc or the system at either local hospital. Nag away, wahine, my PCP has been for 2 years. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Stanzie-I read her posts at warp speed, too, and I mentally think of her as speaking quickly and enthusiastically! Very entertaining! Sorry you're having printer problems. Printers are pretty cheap now, almost a disposable item. Soon it will be cheaper to buy a new printer than a replacement cartridge or ink!

DorK! There you are, in the pool! Watch out, here I come! SPLASH!!! What, you didn't save me a floatie? DUNK. Then I'll just take yours!

Karen-you don't like mint drinks? I have a couple other friends who don't like mint stuff, don't understand them, but that's ok.

Wahine-there used to be a place near me that did the meal prep thing, it was GREAT! You can individualize the meals as you pack them up-leave out spices/veggies/etc you don't like, add stuff you do. The place I went to served coffee, water, ice tea. Unfortunately they closed down a year or so ago. I think you'll like it. It's great to have a bunch of meals prepped and frozen, just thaw and finish. I've also got a couple of recipe booklets for that kind of thing. I've also found I can do the prep work and freeze up the stuff myself using my own recipes.

Junie-you can run but you can't hide! I will find you and splash you, even if I have to steal you dog beer bucket!

Chrissy-Hooray for trip details coming together! All vacations have time and money constraints, I suppose. Not fair, but not much in life is these days. Enjoy what you have set up, and maybe another trip in the future can cover what you didn't get to this time.

Kymn-Hi, there! If you can't take time off from work at least make sure you don't work more than your agreed hours-no overtime, no extras, no taking work home. You need to have time for yourself to recover and heal in between treatments. So sorry to hear you are having DH troubles, that is just NOT FAIR!

Sanbar-you need to celebrate DAILY! That's what the HTL is here for, after all. Lemonchello sounds pretty yummy, gonna have to try me some!

Wahine-I have a kayak, a gift to myself when I got my master's degree. It weighs about 60 pounds, I can lift it up on top of the car by myself (it isn't pretty, but it gets done!) and absolutely love it. Kayaks come in various styles good for different kinds of paddling. There are kayaks for sea kayaking, flat water (ponds, calm parts of rivers) and white water. Then there are flat water kayaks for long distance touring/camping, day trippers, etc. Old Town Canoe and Kayak's web site has a great guide for helping decide what you want for a kayak at http://www.oldtowncanoe.com/kayaks/choosing.html
    Check it out!

Claire-Good for you! Excited and a little scared is a good place to be, like you said, as it should be. New chapters in our lives can be fun times.

    DOTD: Black Lemon

    1 1/2 oz Chocolate Liqueur
    1 oz Limoncello

Pour ingredients over two or three ice cubes in a chilled cocktail glass. Stir, and serve.

Kathy - I agree - love love love Kayaks!!! My sister wanted to get one but my other sister felt sorry for a friend of hers at a yard sale and bought this tremendous canoe - weights about 250 lbs. Totally impractical and takes up 1/2 her garage plus it was a pain in the ocean. Where she is no waves but current. Anyway Kayaks are fabu!

NM - I have it! You can come down here, stay with me and I'll take you to my nice doctor!

NM, I always enjoy your posts...find myself either smiling, or LOL! Then I forget all the things I wanted to comment on....such is life! Thanks for the kayak link....I will definately check it out. I guess kayaks don't tip over as easily as a canoe? I was thinking canoe so we could be together, but DO NOT want to flip over in the lake, as I think there are snakes, and a murky bottom (not too deep). Funny "nag" cartoon too! OK....here goes nothing....but one thing about getting a colonoscopy, is not just knowing you do/don't have cancer, BUT they can take out any polyps, to prevent gettting colon cancer! Since you are a nurse, I KNOW I am not going to change your mind, but I really wish you would do it. OK.....'nuff nagging.....I will get off the soap box! Just that I care about you, and want you as healthy as can be! Yes, you have a good idea about putting your own frozen meals together. I had bought this on a livingsocial.com deal, so was half price, but to me it isn't worth the high prices they charge. So I prob won't be doing it again, unless another deal comes through!!! I also loved your cartoon about cooking everything from the freezer w/ power failure, as that is what we did a few wks ago....literally! Either cook it all and eat what you want (and too much!), or throw it all out. One of the few disasters where we all gained weight!!

Beans, where art thouest???? We miss you tons and tons, and want to know you are okay!!!! Hoping you aren't real sick, as I know you had something starting up. Take care, dear friend.

Kymn, We are ALL here for you, so please lean on us! We can try to absorb some of the stress, so you can try not to keep all that stress inside. Whatever relaxation methods you can use, to try not to internalize the stress. I know what a horrid time this is, and want you as stress-free as possible so the chemo can do its job!!!

Ok, time for a Seagrams/Diet Coke....anyone joining me for Happy Hour???? Dork, are you here? I hope you didn't drown when NM dunked you and took your floatie! Aren't there tons so there are plenty to go around? OR is junie keeping them all behind the HTL so she and Jocks can be comfortable back there??? Just kidding, junie, you know that!

    Bottoms Up!

    Kathy

OOPS sorry, bumped into some posts! Stanzie, glad to have your 2 cents on the kayak too....lots to consider. Hope the play goes smashingly well, and he has a great time!!! So glad it is finally here...take lots of pictures!!! Good of you to invite NM to have her colonoscopy there....MAYBE she will take you up on it!!!!

NM - Not sure I quite understand "What/Where is the FJ". It's my ride, my wheels, and it's in my garage. I just posted a picture of it on the previous page. I LOVE gardening. I can't grow anything from seed! It always ends up spindly (is that a word and did I spell it correctly?) So I have a neighbor that grows the most amzing stuff by seed, and her son makes compost in huge piles, so I save all my containers, and scraps and give to her, and I will buy seed and give to her to start for me. So glad you got some nice weather. I can't take too much time to catch up, as I don't have much (time that is) always too much to do! But glad to be busy. I would go nuts if I didn't have something to do! LOVE your comment and cartoon to Wahine about the nagging! Ink cartridges for my color printer are like $45 each, and because one is low, it won't print at all. Guess what.........it just sits here! You are so sweet with your responses, but looks as tho you are feeling a bit mischevious this evening!

    DorK, how's your boo boo?

Oh Play was good. I know I'm totally bias but son was fabulous!!!!! So totally adorable and very relaxed, great facial expressions. His wondrous teacher came up as we were leaving and said " you got my first and loudest cat call!" So sweet! So, the director is an idiot! half the time she upstaged all the kids as in they said their lines to the back wall! Then in the big Sit Down You'r Rockin the Boat... well all the gamblers were sitting on a low bench with all the Salvation army girls in front of them on a high bench .... you could barely see the tops of their heads?? Only really two kids could actually carry a tune which was a little sad but  oh well.... Anyway, my S was just magnificent! He was funny as I was talking to him and I said you know I'd tell you if you wern't good and he said I know it kinda hurt my feelings a few years ago but now I apprecite it. Talk about a back handed compliment. Well at least he knows he really did good tonight!
