NM just doused me with ice water from my bucket--shocked me back to reality! TKS, NM!!!
Sanbar--where in Italy did you honeymoon? Venice is my fav place in the whole wide world!! Never developed a taste for the Lemoncello but loved their wine! I have a chalk drawing on our tv room wall that we watched the "artiste" draw on our 2nd trip there. It is his rendition of the Bridge of Sighs looking at it from the Grand Canal. In our bedroom, I have a tapestry depicting the Venice canals hanging over the bed, flanked by framed photos I took on my 3rd trip there. I doubt I will ever return, but it will always be my fav..........s i g h!!! Meet me out at the pool and let's talk about Italy!!!!
NM--???--Is that lady in the yellow hat at the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs??? just curious--the spire in the background looks familiar....LOL!!
I am really looking forward to my dau/granddaus' visiting later this week. I called her and asked when were they going to be here (so I could kind of plan meals, etc) and she says, we'll be there Fri, Sat or Sun....uhoh--she's already pushing my buttons!!!! It will be an interesting week without DH here to referee!! I have much I want to discuss with her (have a list going...) if I think I can do so without breaking down.....will have to play some of this visit "by ear".
juam jabbting gin nrrh yo hkmgut fyttrjvk!! onfhtuyystg..........LOL!!! Think I be needing another dousing of ice!

Kymn, sorry to hear of the troubles between you and DH but we are here whenever you need us and collectively we have ears enough to listen to what ever you need to say. ((((Hugs)))).
Oh shoot, now I can't remember anything else....don't you just hate that?! Ooo I know,
Hi Sandbar, nice to meet you! Celebrating can be done all the time at the HTL and we don't need much to get us going!!!
Beans is back! Beans is back! Yahoooo ....glad you're feeling heaps better!!! Love the purdy tat and it's big pink tongue!!!!
Stanzie I just love watching the kids spread their wings and take time to get on the stage!!! It doesn't matter is they are good or not, it's all a learning experience and there are tons of top actors and actresses that started by doing the school plays and going on from there. I love doing stage work!!!!
Junie, I sure hope all goes well with the visit from your daughter next week! Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy your time with your grand daughter!
NM, enjoyed all the pics as usual. Hows the job going....have you settled in yet and was it this weekend or next weekend you start the weekend work? Hope it's all going good for you.
Claire, isn't The Magic Flute an opera to die for? So many characters and so much color! Just love, love it!
Kathy, I used to do kayaking when I was a scout leader.....it is so much fun!!! Don't think I could do it now though as it takes a fare bit of effort and strength both of which I'm sadly lacking. Good luck with whatever you choose!
Dotty, you've got a boo boo? What happened? Hope what ever it is is getting better!
Astorm, Karen and every one else is having a good night and a better day!
I, at the moment, am sitting in my kitchen/dinning room looking at a great gap in my cupboards where, on the morrow, my new stove will be installed!!!!!!! Thank goodness for slow cookers as that's what tea has been prepared in for tonight.....lol. I can't wait to have the stove up and running....yay!!!
Heading for the pool and am gonna grab myself a hammock and have a drinkies or three to celebrate!!!! Oh, by the way, I'm watching you girls so no tipping me out of the hammock!..PaNtS, JoCkS!!! serve 'em up and keep 'em coming!!!!!
TITZ UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi goilies,
I am fine, crashed out after work yesterday and slept through the night. I guess I needed it.
My boo boo is healing. My own fault for drinking and walking. My knee is scabbed up and does not hurt much.
Kymn, sending you hugs and warm thoughts. I am so sorry this is happening, I hope you are able to work through things with DH.
Beans, glad to have you back but still trying to interpret the beanglish. I hope you are feeling well.
Me must go and grab some breakfast, I have not eaten since lunch yesterday. I crashed instead, slept all night on the sofa with my bathing suit on. Had planned on having a swim but slept instead.
Have a good day girls and stay cool!!

Stanzie, I wish we all could have been there for the play. Of course we all know he was adorable!
Beans, so glad you are back and feeling better.
Junie, is there another storm brewing out there (with the visit of your daughter)? I hope all goes well, and the visit is wonderful.
LOL Chrissy, making tea in the crock pot! I take it you don't have a micro wave?
DorK, glad you got some well needed rest. Lots of work the week before and a party weekend..........that'll do it to ya!
Kathy, a paddle boat would be fun, but unfortunately, I'm sure very heavy and not easily (if at all) put on the roof of car!
Happy Hump Day!

Goldie-what kind of ride is an FJ? Never heard that shorthand for a vehicle. Yes, seed started stuff can be spindly if it isn't getting enough light, but usually that fixes itself once the seedling is in the garden getting nice sun. And what gave away my mischievous mood? Just having fun, gotta have fun, and I feel so good right now that I want EVERYONE to have fun, too!

Ah, another splash into the pool! I made the biggest splash! Nah, nah, nah, nah nah. And there go Stanzie, Wahine, Goldie into the pool, woops, I must have "bumped" into you all, one after the other!
Stanzie-you're not biased if it's the truth, and I'm sure you son was the BEST actor in the troupe! Bet you are a proud Mama right now!
Karen-Ok, I won't "bump" into you if you share the Merlot, I LOVE a good Merlot, deal?

Beanie-it can be any day you like here in the Lounge, whatcha dwinkin' today? Sorry you were ill, glad it was common and easily fixable. I keep forgetting that can common illnesses and problems will still happen. Sigh.

Good eye, Junie, that is a Derby pic, with a mint julep, to tease the loungettes that don't like mint! And it sounds like you need a good long soak in the pool, you're brain is getting broiled by the heat and sun! I'm sure your dt/gdt's visit will go well even without DH to ref. Hard to plan with that kind of itinerary, wish I had a solution for that one other than telling DH she's on her own for meals unless she tells you what day she's coming. Or fixing something for Fri that can hold over until Sat or Sun. Oh, dear, I just "tripped" while carrying Junie's bucket of iced dog beers out to her! Did I get you wet, Junie? So sorry (fingers crossed behind my back), ah, whatcha doing, Junie? Looks like I gotta run!

AStorm-hope you slept well! Do you need a dip in the pool to cool off ? I'll be glad to "bump" into, ah, make that go in with you!

Chrissy-I start the weekend schedule on Friday. I worked yesterday, my last day of orientation. I am so excited! This is going to be a great fit in my life, and I will be making a big difference not only for the patients but for the staff. I remember the days of not wanting to work weekends, and specially not wanting to be on call on the weekend and I'm glad to take that off the other nurses. They certainly are grateful and treating me like royalty! New stove-not that is exciting!

DorK-glad you got some good sleep. Crashing like that usually means you need the rest, physically, emotionally or mentally. Or any combination or all three. A hint for the Beanglish, think latin!
Kymn-be sure you keep coming back here, there is lots of support, and sorrow shared is sorrow halved, share with all of us and cut the sorrow down to a tiny fraction. Yes, I know it doesn't really work that way, but the group here can absorb a lot of angst and give a lot of support. YOU are still a wonderful woman, whatever is going on is NOT your fault, and you can say anything you want to here. We understand and love you. Ever see Steel Magnolias? We're like that here, too.

My first day "off" on the new weekend schedule and I've already got a huge "to do" list! Such is life, I suppose. Still, it's nice to have the time to take care of it all without using up all my off duty time!

DOTD: The Pig Latin
1 1/2 oz Dark Rum
1 1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
1 1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth
1 dash BittersDirections
Pour ingredients into an ice-filled mixing glass and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail or martini glass, add the lemon and serve.

LOL Nm...yes, I can see a mischevious streak in your posts.....OR just a "happy" streak, and am so glad how happy you are with your new job! YAY!!!! I can read the fun in what you write. Love the pool cartoon too; never thought of it that way...LOL.
YAY, YAY, YAY, our Beannie Weannie is Baaaaaaaaaack!!! Yahoo! Sawwry you got that nasty sickness, but glad it was fixable. Is the excavation for the cabin going okay??? Can't wait till you have time to ketchup wid us'uns.
Kymn, How are you doing today, girlfriend? I like NM's advice about sharing the angst and it will be just a small amount once we all try to absorb it for you. Just puleez try to take care of yourself right now; you gotta be a bit "selfish" as your health is soooooo important, and can't be compromised. Gotta keep kicking that big "C" to the curb, then you can kick hubby to the curb too, if needed. Hoping and praying that everything will work out, one way or another.
Junie, Oh boy your B&B sure is in demand again!!! Hope the visit will be a good one. I enjoy being with my DD's one-on-one, w/out the g'kids, as then we have a great time. With the young'uns around, there is stress as we have different parenting styles. Subsequently, I enjoy the g'kids on their own, also! Hope those storms stay away for awhile! Bringing you a fresh bucket of dog beers, since the ML truck had to go back to the distribution center to get restocked for the next visit!!
Wow, so many of you have kayaking experience! I am impressed! I only tried it once, couple of yrs ago in HI, and the current was strong, so the paddling was soooooooo hard to do! Easy going way out in the ocean, but coming back against the current was another story. Lori, yeah paddleboats are good, but the one my parents have is heavy and cumbersome, so a bit hard to use even though it is stored right at the waters edge. Thinking it might be easier w/ kayak or whatever, and take it in the truck to the actual boat ramp down the street. Lots to think about, and I appreciate everyone's advice!!! Of course now that the darn hot temps are here, it doesn't sound as good as it did a few days ago!!! LOL. Just gonna work on the deck; cut some more limbs; and housework.....B-O-R-I-N-G day, but someone has to do it. THEN, will look forward to Pau Hana, and hope everyone is here for some yummy dwinks!
Dwink Up!!!!

Wahine--when you research kayaks, you will find that some are more stable than others. The Old Town Canoe's Otter kayaks are small, light, fast, less stable than the bigger (longer ones). I have a Voyager, longer than an Otter, tracks straighter when paddling, not as fast, more stable. I have yet to flip it, although I have fallen out of it getting out at the end of the trip a couple times (thanks to my bad knees)! You might want to find a rental place and try out different brands, types and sizes to find the best fit. I reccomend Old Town Canoes brand, but then I live near where they are made! So I should be considered biased. . . .

Thanks, NM! I did peruse that site and there is lots of good info. They also mentioned that flatter bottom kayaks are more stable, but couldn't find which ones have the flatter bottoms. Good to know which one you have, and am thinking maybe starting with one and seeing how we like it b4 buying 2. THought the tandem one would be good, but sounds like its not as stable, so individual ones seem like the best choice. Hmmmm....good idea to check out rentals! Thanks!

Good morning LadieZ!! Sorry I missed all the revelry last night. Beans is back!!!! YAY!!!
Turned in early as fighting some sort of cold which I caught doing my good deed last week. I remember one of the people mentioning "needing to stop for cold meds". That should have told me something.
NM....congrats on being finished with training. So on to helping others. Looks like they are already appreciating your efforts. Nothing like being treated like a real and valued professional. This is very different from the other gig.
People kayak here in the NW winter and summer. Wouldn't want to tip over though unless in relatively warm water. Most of the rivers are snow melt, so has to be really hot to swim in them. Actually, we are still at the "death by misadventure" stage here as a couple of recent drownings in the high water.
So start out someplace placid and relatively calm conditions. Renting sounds great.
I need to get back to the job snagging effort. This means working my network some more and more research. I am determined, and I finally know what to look at. I have to add the word "generalist" to my resume or cover note as don't want to waste anyone's time with them thinking I am the person to do "advanced analytics". I'm not. My strength is in applying the learning and framing the issues correctly.
Happy June......now that calls for a celebration. - Claire

Good Morning ladies, Thank you all so much for you support. We had a long talk last night, I laid it all out on the table he begged me to give him a chance to prove he can be and wants to be the man I need him to be I didnt hold anything back told him flat out what dick he has been told him I wont put up with it anymore. He assures me I am what he wants and he doesnt want to loose me and the kids and all we have built together . I am not sure If I believe him but I dont want to give up just yet so I guess time will tell.
thank you again for letting me come here and just pour things out.
Hugs Kymn

Kymn, Crossing my fingers (and arms, feet, eyes, etc) that he really means it and will be able to "man up" and be the partner he should be. SO glad you let us support you and let you know we care about you! Vent whenever you need to, but I am hoping we will be hearing happy news! If we don't hear from you, we might just assume that things are going REALLY great!

Claire, Yeah, I like NM's idea about renting....prob is the place we can rent all sorts of boats does not have kayaks, and the places that rent kayaks only do it in conjunction w/ river tours. But yes, the lake is very calm and placcid, I just DON'T want to fall in! Would rather fall into the ocean, any day!!! Cannot see thru the water in the lake, and I know how much muck is down there...yikes. Will take NM's advice also, and find a very stable kayak. Sorry about the deaths there...that is so sad. We usually have some here in the summer, but normally from reckless speed boating on the Tennessee River.
Beans, waiting for a LONGER post from you......with bated breath (is that Stanzie's saying??)...

NM - thanks for the big pink floaty thing. Since I don't like water that is perfect for me. Hope there are some fun and relaxing things on your list.
Beans - glad you are feeling better. I thought I was getting a little virus but then we had house guests arrive and I forgot to be sick.
Kathy - I tried kayaking once... don't like to be under water so my ex thought kayak lessons would be a great gift as I would overcome my fear. Hence, the "ex". I was fine until the instructor told me I wasn't trying hard enough because my hair was dry and flipped my kayak upside down. I had to bail and pull myself out of the ocean. There were fish down there and lots of seaweed. And it was cold and salty.
Kymn - being a survivor changes us but I think it takes a little longer for the DH to catch up. Most men don't like problems but they especially don't like problems that they can't personally fix. This one is definitely out of their hands. My DH just decided to pretend it wasn't happening which did not help me one bit. I finally lost it one day and told him that I love him BUT I have just survived a battle with a life-threatening disease and I intend to enjoy the rest of my life to its fullest, with or without him. If he wanted to be in my life he needed to be nice to me, period. He has seen me fire clients over the years for being unreasonable, unethical, or unpleasant so he understands my commitment to having a good day, every day, whatever it takes.
Kathy - I think it's "baited" breath?
0 -
wow, that was some cwazy beanglish! I think that kitty got in the cough syrup...
0 -
LOL Gail, Yup I know it is "baited breath" but was copying Stanzie on pg 504....direct quote...
"Oh whoops cake is done... more ramblings later I know you all are waiting with bated breath ( really just wanted to use that expression!)". Thought that was cute! But love your "baited" cartoon!! Yikes, how scary for the instructor to tip your kayak....that was MEAN! I still prefer the ocean to the murky lake though. We used to waterski in the ocean when i was *much* younger....would ski outside the wake and had a blast. At least you could see partway through the water. But then again, I didn't have fears back then!! And we used to swim waaaay out, past the breakwater, by ourselves....if I knew then what I know now, I would never have done that!
Whew it is SO hot outside....like a steam bath. Of course I was working outside in flipflops and with no gloves on, but gave out a blood-curdling scream when I saw a BIG brown spider on my arm!!! (Wonder if I killed any rats??? LOL). I hate spiders more than anything.
Ciao for Niao (to quote a former loungette)!
Kathy
Wow...page 506 ALREADY?????

We took our visiting relatives to a Buddhist compound yesterday for a short hike. When I got out of the car there was a little green spider dangling from the door frame. I don't like spiders, snakes or lizards but since I was on hallowed ground, I gingerly plucked the thread he was hanging from and moved it outside the car. The only good spider comes in a roll:

AStorm - Well said! may need to remember that for the future.....! Well we will have have to remember not to push you in or over if you are on a raft. Who is it who can change pictures ... well we need a raft for AStorm that says " Anyone who pushes me over will be banned from chocolate!"

This seemed appropriate for those of us who get frustrated with our men at times...... (Hope it will bring a chuckle)....
Marriage
If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never say it's not quite as good as his mother's
...then adopt a dog.
If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want...then adopt a dog.
If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies ..then adopt a dog.
If you want someone who is content to get on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores...then adopt a dog !
If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually...then adopt a dog.
BUT, on the other hand, if you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness .
...adopt a cat!
Now be honest, you thought I was gonna say... marry a man, didn't you?0 -
Kymn, so very happy to hear that you read DH the riot act and he is listening. Sometimes that is what it takes. You are going through so much and this is not the time for him to act up. I will pray that he does what a good husband should do. If you ever want to talk privately, I am here for you as I am going through the same thing. I am nearing letting him back but my instinct says to give it time and he no longer begs. I fear that if he comes home, he will start again with his bs/dickesh behavior.
So today is my one year cancerversary, I got the call at 9:10am on 6/1/11. I did not shed a tear as I knew I had BC when the biopsy was done. It has been a very challenging year but I do believe I found strenght that I did not know existed. I am not grateful for this disease but so grateful to have found great support from my family, friend coworkers and especially you girls. I can't express how much each and everyone of you mean to me. I think I will pop in the chapel and express my attitude of graditude then let the celebration begin. Anyone want to join me?
We are under tornado watch, the only place I have to hide is my bathroom, in the tub. I doubt it will hit as the storms are isolated but sure will keep an eye on the doplar. DH is grilling leftovers from our fab weekend long party. He brought me a bouquet of flowers for my cancerversary and I did not even remind him. He is a great guy but sometihng about his hatred for my fur babies gets in the damn way. My oldest guy does not have much time left and it breaks my heart to see him fall further. He does have good days but is having issues with balance, he jolts when he is walking as if something very threatening is in front of him. He trembles and backs up. THis comes and goes. I figure as long as he keeps wagging his tail, eats food and loves his treats, I will hang with him and do the antibiotic routine for life. When I feel he is no longer happy or suffering, it will be time. I hate the thought. So yes, I am rambling and this post is all about me, sorry about that. I did read through what i missed this AM but just wanted to say where I am and offer Kymn my unconditional support and love. I will try to pop back in once DH leaves in a few hours. Peace and love my dolls!

DorK.....major congrats on being one year out. I was 99.9% sure too, so was oddly comforting to have this confirmed. I was so grateful when I learned that I had a good chance of making it.
Not loving animals is serious. They are there for us. Unless, of course, you were on the wrong end of something. Still feel the chomp that a friend's horse took out of my upper arm.....well, teeth marks that is.
Enjoy the evening with DH, and good luck.
Thinking of you too Kymm.
Feeling discouraged from my search today, but also a bit under the weather. Just need to press on. There are jobs where I am looking but need to figure out where I fit. I have to remember that one of my friends thinks enough of me to recommend me for consulting work. That says something. - Claire

Another reason to PARTAY!! Happy 1 yr cancerversary DorK! Nice of DH to think of flowers....seems like there might be hope for him after all! But glad you are taking it slow. Cannot believe how you and Kymn are going thru a similar thing right now. And so strange that you and Claire "knew" it was cancer. I was totally taken for a loop. When they had to schedule the biopsy they kept saying it is usually benign. Even after it was done they said my chance of it being cancer was verrrrry slim. So I was shocked and had silent tears when I got "THE" call.
DANG....what the heck is happening???? Tornadoes touched down in MA???? Was awesome to see it over the water, but shit this is so horrible....this season is unreal. Heard some guys in a car seeing it coming towards them and not knowing what to do....very important to GET OUT of the car!!! Sounds like roads are impassable, but haven't heard of injuries or deaths....hope everyone is ok and just loss of "things". Seems like several states are under warnings. BE careful DorK, NM, and anyone else that might be in line of danger. Just too scary.
Time for Pau Hana. I am raising my Seagrams/Diet Coke to YOU Dorothy!!!! YAY....you have made it through this first year...the worst, I think. So celebrating with you!!!! *clink*
Bottoms Up, Titz Up, Face Lifts Up (well I could use one anyway! LOL),

Cute joke, Wahine!!! Kymn--good for you to lay all the cards out on the table! Hope things work out as you want. I think it is so great that we have grown such a caring "community" here at the HTL--we all, no matter the problem, get such support and advice and love!
Wahine, think I agree that you should try to rent or borrow a kayak first to try it out before you buy. Several of my neighbors are big into kayaking but it is something that requires more effort and energy than I imagined. They love it, though!!!
Are we voting on the "bated" vs "baited" breath question? I'm saying our Stanzie did say it correctly....one waits with "bated" breath........LOL, just saying........
ow-nay...NM...I affed-lay oudly-lay eff-ray ig-pay atin-lay!!!!! Wow! How long ago was it that we all got off on that kick--can't remember who started it, but we burned up a couple pages of pure fun.
Watching the news and think that Congressman Weiner, just maybe did do a weiner pic on twitter......thought at first he was hacked and innocent, but tonight, listening to one of his interviews--his vague responses leave a window of doubt......what do you all think????
AND, too, too funny--given one of our recent themes.........."Gone with the Wind"----today is maybe the 75th anniv of the movie debut. The news channel visited a shop and had people quote their favorite GWTW phrases......I sat here and hooted....."Fiddle dee dee" "I don know nothin 'bout birthing no babies!" "I'll think about it tomorrow"--several others and the famous "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"--which apparently was Clark Gable's own phrase and a slight deviation from the wording in the book! What an endearing legacy that MARGARET Mitchell wrote! Was/has been one of my fav reads of all time!
ok--heading to the polnow; stilll hot, so bring on the ice!!!!!
bottomsup!!!!!!

OMG, Junie, you and Stanzie ARE correct!!! I thought it was supposed to be "baited" as did Gail, but I googled it, and found this "answer"....
"The correct spelling is actually bated breath but it's so common these days to see it written as baited breath that there's every chance that it will soon become the usual form, to the disgust of conservative speakers and the confusion of dictionary writers."
WOW I learned yet another thing from you amazing ladies!!!!

No time to post. Was uploading pics of The Shady Lady, to post as promised. But I am loading them from FB, so for now I will only try one, y'all will have to let me know if you can see it. If you can, then I'll load the rest, if you want to see. But I will tell you now, it will prob. take up a whole page! I think I have like 9 all together.
I did have to comment to Kymn, and say that I am glad it was you that made that choice, and stand up for your self and NOT put up with being treated like that. I hope you make the right decision and stick to your guns...............like DorK!
See ya all in the morn!

very important message that I failed to address in my prior post.....
While sneaking out to my "prayer pole"aka car-bar at work today, I noticed a car in the visitor parking lot with Connecticut vanity plates which said "HTL". So as I said my prayers, I also prayed for the owner of the car, just in case he/she was one of us! I love you gals. Will catch up shortly, I promise.
Hi Lori, love your new wheels, vrooom vrooom vrooom. What is this shady lady? Nice pic but uh, not sure what it is.
Junie, do you wanna partAY til the weeee hours of dawn as we did last Thrist-dey night?
Thanks girls for the anniversary wishes. I hope each of you have many many more anniversaries, a great time to celebrate life. Here is to life, CheerS!
