Hey Tink - Sounds like you had a memorable day.

So far so good on the Tamioxifen. The SE have been mild and they do let up. I did start splitting them in half, so I hope that helps. The info I got when I picked my Tami up says that it needs to be taken on a full stomach. Im not a breakfast eater so this is going to be a hurdle for me. I guess I'll have to work on it. Do you all take it on a full or empty stomach?

Paula - My bottle says to take it with a snack or small meal if nausea is a problem. I take the whole dose with a glass of milk in the morning and it works for me - I have been on Tamox for 5 months.

tink how exciting about your son with graduation. I had a niece graduate and my mom and Dad could not go because of the walking but they had where you could watch online. I got them all set up and it was really neat. I could not believe she was already graduating. I bet you did cry big o'l crocodile tears.
Paula glad your SE's have not been bad. I take mine in the evening and don't take anything with it but I figure it is close enough after dinner that I am fine.

scarlettohred: I would start by making a list of everything you are taking in pill form then go to drugs.com and look up all side effects. I'm pretty sure a lot of anit-depressants have a SE of weight gain. Then take the next 3-7 days and keep track of what you are eating. It's amazing how just writing down everything you eat will help you control what you ingest. (including what you add to things like sugar in your coffee) Next make list of all of your exercise over those 3-7 days.
Now put the above lists in perspective, by writing down a list of everything you have been through since your BC diagnosis. Include all the treatments, and any life events...good and bad.
Then give yourself a break. Take a couple of deep cleansing breaths. And let the lists sit for a couple of days. When you next pick up your lists, figure out what you can cross out of your life, and then write in what you want to add into your life. I'm positive that if you get perspective and set some little goals your weight will normalize.

HI girls just popping in to say hi. Still can't get out of this funk ~ I feel like they are just looking and looking for what is wrong with me. I feel a bit better on the effexor but still have no appetite and am losing weight. So off to the Gastroenterlogist on Wednesday this week. They are thinking ulcer, colon problem, or I guess pancreatic cancer............. Lord help me. Thankfully I am not yellow that is a side effect. Say some prayers girls I'm gonna need them. They still think the loss of appetite could be from the depression but want to check further to be sure.
Hope everyone is doing well! Think of you all and send hugs !

Nice supprise. Saturday our youngest son called and he and his family are coming in a little while and spend the night. They live in west texas and are on there way to Galveston. Too long of a drive to do it in one day. Yeah for us, I get to see my granddaughter.

Thanks for everyone's support! I need a kick in the butt to keep me motivated. It is so easy to give up when you don't see results on the scale.

Alicia- you need a break my dear...give yourself a promised one hour each day where you do not think of anything health related...read a book, watch a stupid show, go for a walk with your ipod full of music from high school...whatever you need to do....but it will give you an hour each day where you can breathe....

June seems to be my month for all my appts - 6 in all. Tomorrow morning I have my annual pap. I have my seen my gyn since he called me last Aug to tell me I needed to have a biopsy done. I have been on Tamoxifen for 5 months and have a history of fibroid tumors. Should I insist on getting a baseline transvaginal US done? Could use some input here - please!!

jo1955: Most definitely YES with the US...I have a fibroid, that we are watching very closely. I would think you would get an US annually now that you are on Tamoxifen! Better to know than not know!

Well had the mammogram at 2pm....little tears while she was doing it an dbless her, she did not say a word....until the dreaded words that I heard last year which started all this crap..."hmm, I need to do that side again as I did not get everything"...to which I sai d' oh I do not like the sounds of that ( and she did not make any reassuring sounds at this point)...."That is what I was told last June when all of this started"....not a word from the tech....and when she came out to the waiting room what I got was "Thank you Mrs. Thompson (I have never been a MRS)...you can leave now"....oh....ladies...NOT liking the sounds of this....cried all the way back to work...actually, sat in my car and ried first

Sandeeonherown: Don't get wound up over the techs ineptitude! In my experience, and from the experiences of so many on here...it seems that if there's a problem they usually DON"T send you home. 24 hours! You can do this!
0 -
Sandee - What a thoughtless tech. I want to slap her silly. Try to relax and breathe. If there really was something, I don't think they would have sent you home right away. Positive thoughts and prayers going up for you. Keep us posted.
GirlFriday - I had fibroids about 15 years ago, very heavy bleeding the whole nine yards. I was in the Air Force then and the doctors just kept telling me to keep this calendar and that calendar. They talked about doing a biopsy but dragged their feet on it because I was close to retirement. I found out about the fibroids after retirement and went to a civilian doctor. I was put on birth control pills to regulate my periods and stayed on birth control pills until I was 52. No one questioned why I was on them. My gyno put me through menapause with drugs and then gave me a script for Prempro which in turn was what gave me BC.
Thnaks for the response. I will definitely ask about it in the morning.
