YAY Kymm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, getting past that milestone is where your focus needs to be. I came through this experience being a lot clearer about boundaries. What I would do, and not do. I think you have to set these to manage your life through this.
I am saying this because this could be one of the things going on with you and DH. Major help with me focusing as I move ahead with my life, so a good thing.
Cycling club board meeting last night, but only three of us showed. Lovely dinner on a terrace overlooking Lake Washington. I learned that we had not renewed our nonprofit status, so a message to anyone out there. You don't want to go through this paperwork again. I don't have this info.
I got the planning the summer potluck/picnic duty, and I am doing a weenie ride (oops, best to table that expression for a while). Anyway, will be in a month. I will call it the Post STP Recovery Ride and it will be a social pace and not that long. I am usually still depleted and sore of butt, so this will be just the right time. My fave ride when the weather is fair.
I did a long walk over to the Amazon campus yesterday. Really fascinating. Very modern, and redeveloped crumbling area. So a campus, but an urban one. It's connected to the world via streetcar and light rail which goes directly to Seatac. Very high energy.
Amazon is on a mission to transform how we shop. I would love to be part of that action. This was major prep for my informational interview Monday evening. Just fascinating.
I also understand what needs to be done for cyclists. I can walk, but this is a perfect location for commuting by bicycle. The problem is a highway which bisects the route. So really need a bridge for pedestrians/cyclists which links the main cycling route which goes past Amazon to the Waterfront. The other place is over the railroad tracks near where I live.
So exciting times. I would be taking my life in my hands cycling there with the current configuration.
Need to follow up some more on my contacts. Still prepping for my interview. More to come as realize I need to rescript some of what happened to me experience-wise over the past ten years. For example, I had left out the part about a successful career change. DUH!!!!
Really important for a prospective hiring manager to know...... - Claire

Claire, Hope you get that Amazon job! I have bought/sold many, many items these past few years on Amazon. In fact, another sale today and I have it packed, labeled, and ready to take to post office.
Kymn, YAY! Welcome back; good to know you are okay, and ONLY ONE MORE TO GO!!! Yippee. Yes, we are having a Toga Party, thought up by our own Beans. Then on Saturday it is Junie's birthday....so we are starting the partay tonight (I think) and going into tomorrow, Sunday, and even Monday, so NM can join in. Well, I told her we prolly would all be passed out on the floor by Monday, so she needs to tread carefully! So a really big Toga/Birthday party!!! Did you see the toga that Lori found for you????
Still a rainy, dreary day, but sooooooo glad for the rain. Taking it a bit easy today, then lots of errands/shopping to do. Blockbuster sent 2 free codes, so will pick up 2 movies too. Life is good!

AStorm - hope your WD is okay and is getting some sleep. That must be fun to have a book club, seems like a read a Barbara Kingsolver once upon a time...my memory is shot though so I can't remember what or when or even if!
Karen - so sorry to read about your friend needing brain surgery, that sounds very difficult. Chicken schnitzel or baked manicotti both sound great! I've never understood camping out for store openings, really strange. So gwad U cud weeed my post - tee hee! Yes, where is Husker??? I haven't seen her post for a while. Gosh you sound so busy getting all ready to go.
Junie - I'm so exited about your birthday! Happy Happy Birthday!! And I'm glad we get to celebrate it for days and days!! Too bad about your weather, but mine has been awful still too, just no sun, lots of rain...am I in Seattle? No, we usually have tons of sun by this time of year...still so cold. Glad you found your grill cover, that sounds like awful wind. That's great you got your DL renewed! And handicap tags, that will be convenient for you.
Chrissy - You sound good but like you need some rest, and so sorry to hear of any pain. Glad that surgery is over and you can heal now. I'm so glad you are up for a Par-Tay!! And love your toga partee dress, that is red hot!
NM - Tank Ewe for da partee invitation! Yahoo!! I will be there! Just love the tired dog pic! And thanks for the toga instructions and TOGA PARTY DWINK! I was hoping we'd get one of those!! I'll be on the look out for a lost post repellant for sure! And just love the over-packed cartoon for Karen! Oh, boy anuder dwink - yippee - a Party Starter, I'm there!! And a Happy Birthday!!! Oh man this is a great day! All my dwinks lined up for the weekend!! Happy Juice on Sunday!!! YAY!! That is so nice of you to set these all up, but sure hope you can pop in to share dem and you won't be too busy.
Goldie - LOL at what kinda drugs I'm on! Thanks for setting me straight! That is such a cute story about how Bootie got her name, she is bootiful bootiful! (Like her Ma!) Once again I gotta say how much I enjoyed your pics of you. Just such a sweet, lovely, bootiful face and so tall and slender. I've always been short and well, I get chunkier with age - tee hee! Your family pic is just so sweet. Thanks again for posting. I have to say tears came to my eyes to think such an innocent, sweet young girl could ever get this sucky BC disease. Not fair at all! Love your toga and sandals!! Those will look fab on you!!! And I just knew there had to be a pink leopard toga for Kymn, that is so fun you found one for her! LOL at your sonna ma bithch joke too!!
Karen & Goldie - I was born in 1957! So just about your ages too.
Claire - Glad the Weiner is resigning! Glad you are in for the toga party too! I like your comments about getting clearer boundaries as a result of this BC experience. Your potlick/picnic duty sounds like it will be fun. I just love Amazon, that's neat you were there...I just bought a new coffee pot from Amazon. I love shopping there.
Wahine - I just hate it when I lose a post, so frustrating! So sorry about the sh*tty contractors that have made such a mess for you, sounds so stressful, people can really be awful. We've been afraid to hire people too, and double check licenses, but even with licenses and insurance there can still be problems. I do hope you find good contractors when the time comes. I've been working so hard and wearing myself out every day so have been sleeping pretty well, except for the hot/cold thing, but I seem to be sleeping through it. So sad about all those displaced pets. I was noticing our local grocery store has a Pet food Bank and I was so happy to see that. Sorry you got uky weather too, but at least you are not alone! Movies sound like a great idea.
Kymn - I'm so happy for you only 1 rat bastard tx to go, that is so great!! It's great to see you stop in for a dwinky today!!
Angelice - Just wanna say hello and do you have your toga ready yet?
Well don't tell NM, but I ain't waiting for Saturday and Sunday I'm getting into all those great drinks right now! Anyone wanna join me??? Cheers!!

Oops, yuppers, it is me AGAIN. But, we bought a big (10 lb) beef brisket, cause it was soooo cheap, and now I need to know how to cook it. Prolly will cut it in half, and can search online for recipes, but with all the good cooks here, just wondered if someone had a good recipe using that. I know it needs to cook slowly, but thats it. HELP! Thanks..... !

YeeHaw-------Wahine, you ain't spent much time in Arkansas, have ya? LOL--we hillbillies talk that way awl the time!!!! LOL!!
Found my toga for the par-tay!!!

My right hand holds the dog beer of all dog beers and the right hand holds a notebook so I can record names, etc, all weekend!!!! The toga is so long, I don't need to buy the jeweled sandals--and, I kinda like the spikey thing on my head as opposed to a laurel wreath.......see you all at the pool!
BUT--we need to either skinny dip--remember, we all have fab bodies here--or wear a swim suit--if we swim in these togas we're going to drown for sure! no glub glub glubbing at my BD PAR-TAY!!!!
grrrrrr-DH comes home from golf and tells me he's invited friends over for drinks for my BD at 2 pm tomorrow....what an odd time--not brunch, lunch, or dinner time--will have to get creative with some easy snacks to serve and hoping it will not be too hot to sit on the deck. But, it was sweet of him to do that.
hopefully, someone will stay sane enough to remind me not to lay down on my crown when I get out of the pool and head for my hammock!!!

Throw in a large pot with an onion, celery, and carrots. Add a handful of peppercorns and some Herbs de Provence. Cover with real ale and simmer 2 hours.
Serve with potatoes and veggies/salad. Mustard is great with it too. Drink some more of the ale with it.
Reminder for me to buy the boneless pork roast on sale. I cut into chops and freeze. Dirt cheap when $1.99 per pound.

Junie......don't tempt me with skinny dipping. I have done this w/i the last 6 years. Then there was the time I was so hot hiking with my friend Kathy and we hadn't seen anyone in miles. The guy moved down the trail at quite a brisk pace.
Think wonderful of your DH to invite friends over. What about shrimp ring, and some sort of cold cuts? Add a fruit platter and some bread and you're done.
I am sure you can figure out drinks.
Have the happiest one ever! - Claire

Its rained this afternoon, but not enough rain for my likings....it feels muggy out now.....sure hope it is enough water to make a difference
Just baked oatmeal cookies for the par-tay....of course they go good with wine....and with wine or other likker there are no calories!!!!
Wahine....I cook brisket...but not that big.....I cook mine in beer or coke or something sparkly light that....also sliced onions....sometimes dry onion soup mix....so put the brisket in a large roasting pan...season with the dry onion soup and maybe garlic and onion powder, pepper or whatever gets your fancy.....slice onions and put all around then cover 1/2 way or so with the beer....cover with tin foil and cook on a low heat...I think maybe 325 or so....it slices best when cold....and reheats very well.....My DH has also cooked brisket on a charcoal smoker (2nd cut, as 1st cut is too lean)...if you liked smoked cooking it is a great option....When I have cooked larger briskets...I will freeze half right away, but don't slice it till ready to use so it stays fresher and doesnt seem like leftovers....
Dinner is just DD#2 and DS (and not sure what the D stands for here!!!...you know he's 22)....it is an easy dinner....just realized that I forgot to get garlic to make roasted garlic (: I'm making rice pilaf, roast potatoes (love my starches), chicken schnitzl, corn on the cob, green and yellow beans, salad and baked bears and oatmeal cookies for dessert...oh yeah, I have challah already made in the freezer.....thought I might make another batch of cookies justy now, but think I'll skip it and clean up the kitchen and finish the other couple things that I need to do, so I can join the par-tay early tonight......
Junie....have a wonderful birthday tomorrow.....will check in tomorrow night to see how the toga party is continuing on....Hugs, Karen

Thank you so much, Claire and Karen!! It was on sale for 99 cents a pound, so just $10 for a huge piece of meat. Anxious to try it now. I knew you all would come through! YEEHAW

Sowwy risky wisky--missed your question about cooking brisket. Will share my receipt with you (receipt is hillbilly slang for recipe!!!--lol). I got this recipe 35 yrs ago from a guy I worked with--he always brought the best brisket when we would have a goodie day at work. This is from a tiny scrap of paper that I jotted his secret down (think I was the only one he gave the recipe to....)
sprinkle both sides with onion salt, garlic salt, celery salt, a bit of regular salt and pepper. Dash several tablespoons of liquid smoke over the meat. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake covered next day at 240 to 300 for 5-6 hours. Pour off juices and top with fav BBQ sauce...Bake about an hour more....cool for a few minutes before slicing--against the grain. yummy!!!
Claire--my mind was trending toward build-it-yourself-nachos----but, I like the idea of shrimp much better. THANKS!!! And, there is nothing in this world more fun than skinny dipping!!! Unless it is suntanning topless on a beach in Mexico (pre bc days) and that one totally freaked my DH out--it was fine for other women, but NOT me!!! Go figure....
.....anybody got a pair of scissors? I keep tripping on my toga--it's too long--I need to whack it off at the knees......DOGBEERZ!!!!!!!!
0 -
*snip, snip*....oops did I cut it too short, Junie??? Thanks for your recipe too...neat that it was a big secret and always a hit. Sorta similar to my bbq pork recipe, as it has lots of liquid smoke also, and cooks for 4-5 hrs. Does this taste like the Texas beef bbq?
Oh, I hope the wind isn't blowing too much tonight or our Junie might show more than she intended to! You just shouldn't have trusted me with a scissors.....LOL.
PARTAY! PARTAY! PARTAY!!!!!

Junie....you are welcome. It's YOUR birthday, so choose what you enjoy eating. That is how birthdays are supposed to work.
Finally joining the par-tay.
Tomorrow is cycling over to Fremont to see the solstice parade. That is, the pre-parade of nude cyclists. I got word that some will be from my health group.
It is going to be on the nippy side for cycling in the altogether. But should be great fun.
As for my toga, think I will "dispense with such formalities".
Junie...."receipt" is an old word for "recipe". So exists in older New England cookbooks as well.
I need to get dinner on. And more wine....... - Claire

NM, that is interesting information on the Melatonin and no, I had not heard that. Perhaps I should take it every night! What a sweetheart you are for providing our DOTD, days in advance. I am with Kathy on choices (Happy Juice) and actually for the same reasons! And Junie's "Happy Birthday" drink sounds like chocolate raspberry milk with a kick!
Kathy, the fire is almost at 800 sq. miles or half a million acres and now 2 more fires in southern AZ. Those are smaller but have burned more homes, due to the location. The one out here is burning more forest. Just so much devastation everywhere (across the country).
Kymn, hoorah........1 more to go! Yes we have a b-day party for Junie and the theme is TOGA!
Beaneeze, you are so sweet........thank you for your kind words, especially for my Bootie! LOL, I won't tell NM about you getting into the drinks, but only if you share! Can you tell me what bitters and cointreau are and what they taste like?
Hahaha DorK, you speak Italiano very well! But sorry bout the internet issues, indeed it sucks! I think you have a beautiful sole, you are very funny and so full of life and a DorK....that is what I think of you! (not really dork dork, just a nut and had to play on your name).
Junie, love your toga.......how creative! ......and your dog beer & notebook! Sorry, but I don't think we can allow you to lay down on your b-day. Have fun with your company.
Claire, that is just how we do chops, but I have the butcher cut them, the vacuum them when I get home and freeze. LOL, that sounds funny, to vacuum my meat! But better than saying what I usually say..........
LOL Karen and your DS........maybe Damn? Of course I am kidding.
DON'T ANYONE GIVE JUNIE SCISSORS, KNOWING HER, SHE WILL WHACK HER KNEES OFF!
Oh thanks Kathy for cutting Junie's toga. T'is a bit short, but she rocks it!
Chrissy, you look fabulous dahling and I think you have the best "drunk talk" and truth be known........we ALL have a bit to hang on to!
Well, hello Angelice and welcome!
Ok, I am off to hopefully put together another video for our website. How to water your garden containers and hanging baskets. Have to try and get it done this morning, as it will be windy in a bit and worse tomorrow. (not good for the fires)

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNIE. I GOT YA A KEG O' TOGA DOG BEERS!

Hiya girlz! I was up to 2 am watching movies, so was able to post birthday wishes to Junie sooooo early! Hope your morning is starting off great Junie, and the day just goes uphill from here. Don't forget to party with US too!!! Last night saw "I Am Number Four" and "Mao's Last Dancer". Thought they were both really good; prob enjoyed Number Four the best though.
Darn Lori, that is a humongous fire....I can't even imagine the size of it. Love how you called your DD "bootie".....and she truly IS beautiful! You are so talented to be able to do the video by yourself! Wowsa! Hope you can do it w/ no wind interference. One of our errands yesterday was Home Depot, as DH needed a size of allen wrench I didn't have....so of course I think of things I want from there, and I get some wood cut, etc. Get home, and guess what....he totally forgot to get the allen wrench....sheesh!!! Story of my life....lol. Love, love, love your pic of the Toga Dog Beers! Purrfect. And yes, Junie totally rocks the short toga....wish my legs could be slim like that! Thinking waaaaay back to when I actually was hired for looking good in "hot pants" (70's). Hmmm....vacuuming meat....LOL at what you would have said!!
Chrissy, Thank God there are no hangovers here....sounds like you had a humdinger of a time last night! Love your drunken slurrrrrrr.....
Dork, dork....you work so hard lately that we don't get you here enough!!! Hope you can relax some this weekend.
Missing all you MIA girls! Jaybird, Dee, HunkyD, Husker....would love to hear from you all. Don't forget your toga when you show up this weekend. OH, and lots of presents for junie....j/k. Junie, have you mastered your present??? Bet you love it!
Happy, Happy, Happy Toga Birthday!!!!!
Sheets,
Kathy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNIE WITH LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF LOVE!!

I have my toga on and am in the lounge waiting for the big birthday bash to get exciting. Now someone put a pin in that balloon, oh baby!!
Welcome Angelace, I sure hope to see you join us eb-berry dey cuz eb-berry day is a celebration. But today is about our Star, Junie!!! hip hip HORRAY FOR JUNIE!!
I am going to try to tap a little nap in my pool. Finally figured out how to get in there in broad day light and camoflauge my MIA non-shittay tittay! I just put a coobie bra stuffed with panty hose under my suit and walaaaa, I have a good looking non-tit. I am planning on heading to work in the late afternoon. It is just too serene in my yard to leave now. I hope I don't burn but have covered all incision scars.
Lori, I love love love the birthday keg. You are soooo clever. HOpe your video goes well, I am sure you will do a great job, you have such talent. Sorry about all those fires still burning, unimaginable.
Beans beans the miracle fruit, the more you eat the more you toot! Hahaha. I hope you are having a good day and are able to find some carefree moments.
Chrissy, I miss ya honey, glad you tied on a good buzz last night.
Kymn, glad you are trying to mend with DH. I miss you and hope to see you more.
Claire, I wanted to ask, what's for dinner?
Astorm, Stanzie hello. Sorry have not caught up yet here but hope things are good. You gals are me fellow wd lovers so I just want to say that I hope everyone's fur babies are doing well. Mine seem to be adjusting without my Mocha. I keep reflected back to "this time last week", the last full day of his life. He did have a wonderful life. I now wonder if I can actually keep a trash can in my kitchen, he was an onery boy from the start. Even with his failing health, he would always knock over the trash so I kept it in my laundry room when I was not home.
I miss chilling in the lounge soooo much but I will be back round the clock soon. I go on disability on July 21th for next surgery and am sure to come in and stay in touch with everyone of you lovely bwest fwends.
Karen, I have had a recent taste for cookies. So ok, I broke down and bought a four pack of Keebler Soft batch. So gross. A good thing though, it got me over my newest cookie obsession. I hope all is well with you and yours. Happy Chabbot!!
NM, really enjoying your posts as always. You are so stinking clever. I hope your weekend work is minimal and that you get paid for just being on calL.
Well I am going to try to doze off on my favorite floatie in the world. The "girls" are in the house so there will be no barking. My DD is at work so it is just me, the blue sky, music and uhhhh,, yes just one drink. I do have to work but one is alright, right????
To all, have a glorious day. If I missed anyone, it does not mean that I do not love you.

wahine - you are such a smartie! I wanted to thank you so much for suggesting I go to the BBB with my stupid problem. I had gotten a cell phone last year and it didn't work well so I canceled service and got a letter from the stupid company that my account was closed and everything was paid, which it was. Then several months later I got a letter from a collection company. I guess the stupid cell phone company kept billing me...well I got most of it straightened out, but they kept after me for $30 bucks and kept sending threatening letters. So finally smartie pants Risque Wisque tells me to file it with the BBB. So I wrote my whole stupid story, which I'm not telling all the stupid details so as not to bore you too much, and I submitted it to the BBB. Well, yesterday I got a voice message from the cell phone company that they had received my BBB complaint and they had agreed that I had paid everything that was due last year. So hopefully they will quit bugging me. I have never had this happen before. It was really upsetting and part of what was freaking me out when I had to go to the coast last time. I know $30 doesn't seem like much, but I was just so upset about it, to be accused over and over when I had a letter from them that all was paid last December. We used to listen to Bruce Williams on the radio and he was like a father with so much good advice. He said never to pay something you don't owe. I was doing what I had learned and every correspondence I got from them I photocopied and sent back with a letter of explanation and a copy of their own letter. I was wondering how long this was going to go on. So hope it's gone for good now!! I just thought I'd share because sometimes these kinds of things are just under-your-skin and it's upsetting along with everything else. So thanks again Wahine, so much for your great idea, I am just so grateful!

We got up early and walked to the village for breakfast (under a mile) and then WD asked to on a walk so I walked to Capitola village (more like 5 miles) and back. Then I felt bad that the corgi didn't get a walk so I took her to the park. Wanted to work in my front yard but can't do it... sad story (skip the next paragraph if you don't want to ruin your mood

Remember my neighbor who lost her battle a few months ago? I still want to cry every time I see her son driving that car with the pink sticker still on the back... well her memorial was about 3 weeks ago. Immediately after the service he bought a new Harley and a dog. We noticed last week that there was still an extra car at their house but assumed it was a visiting relative. Nope. Earlier this week the hubby of the departed introduced his girlfriend to DH. She has several young kids and I was wondering how long would you need to date a man before you moved in with young children? So this morning I was pruning in the front yard and she walked out of the house craddling an infant so young it wasn't holding up its head yet. Wow. Are we really that replaceable? She yelled hello to DH and I ran in the house while he talked nice-nice with her. Told DH, for the record, if he wants a Harley and another dog, fine. But he can't have a girlfriend until AFTER I am buried!
Wow, lot of 50's girls here. DH was born in the 50's and I always tease him when he refers to "people our age" cuz I was born in the 60's. My 50th is next month though, so I guess I'll start getting mail from AARP any day now.
Lori - love the photos! I think I wore all those hairstyles too. My photos are tucked safely away. I had really awful front teeth (one kind of stuck out) until I was in high school. No one told me it wasn't cute so in all the pictures I have this huge, ugly-tooth-bearing smile.
Yippee Kymn! So glad you are in the down-home stretch. We knew you would pull through and party most of the way there!
Well, I'm off to the store to look for maraschino liqueur so I can make the DOTD from Thursday... but I think I'll just let Pants bring me a pitcher tomorrow cuz that one looks complicated. I'm a bit behind but catching up should be fun. Or maybe I'll just have Pants bring something over to the hammock...
