how about drinking?

Dear Dorothy, I am raising my diet coke, to your dear Mocha (sorry my tummy doesn't want likker yet). You wrote such a sweet, touching post, that I really do have tears rolllng down. Just got home, and this is the first thing I checked. I know you did the right thing, and am glad you have your 2 sweet girl WD's to snuggle up with. They will wonder why they are getting so wet with your tears, but knowing furbabies, they will be happy just being close to you. So, so sorry for how sad you are, but your sadness reflects how much love you had for Mocha. Wish I could give you a hug in person. Well dear friend, we are all thinking of you right now. Yes, RIP Mocha, and enjoy running over the "rainbow bridge"....remember that poem? In case you want to read it (again), here is a lnk: http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm . My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sadly,
Kathy

Dorothy, so sorry about your dear dog. I am giving my golden retriever a big ole' hug and scratching his ears, grateful that I have him around. I bet your little guys will sense the loss, but I think having two helps them work through it, just as your DD will help you.

Oh Dorothy! I am so so so very sorry for your loss. I'm still missing Liesl so terribly, it made me cry thinking about what a terrible sad day you have had. I know he knew he was loved dearly! Again, so sorry!

Hi There, Just a quick hello. I know it's a sad night. Just wanna say I'm thinking of you all with such love and best wishes. Sure hope we hear from NM again soon and has anyone heard from AStorm? Missing Lori too and Kymn...Hope everyone is okay. Dorthy, I'm so sorry again about your pup. Man, it is so hard and I'm guessing you are just feeling awful. Sure wish I could help. Anyway...love & hugs...Beans

You have all helped so much and no sorries allowed. I am hanging tough as can be. In and out of tears. We were outside and I though I saw him out of the corner of my eye but it was a burnt log we took out of the firepit this morning after having our fire night stopped by rain. Then I thought, just this time last night, Mo was looking into the water of the pool which he loved and I will miss seeing him there. He used to be so funny when I first turned on the filter as he would have a blast attacking the water once it started filtering and shooting out high.
I am having a mani-pedi but doing it myself. No time for being pampered but I do a great job. I can't have full mani's anyway due to risk of LE and i have learned to do it well.
Wish I could stop writing just about me but I thank you all for help in curing my very emotional hangover. Wish Pants would do my nails and perhaps a full body massage? Hmm...a thought to ponder.
Love all you hot loungettes.
Peace to all...I am looking for it now and think I shall find it soon.....♥

Dorothy, I echo Bean's post, as I have been thinking of you all night. I think you will probably "see" Mocha a lot....either a movement, or something like the log you saw tonight. He was such a part of your everyday life, that it will take a long time to heal. Now, tell me why mani's could contribute to LE? I am not up on all that stuff, but wanted to schedule a mani/pedi soon. Love how we learn so much from each other.
Anyway, main focus is YOU tonight....and I think we can spare Pants AND Jocks, to pamper you with whatever you want. Your nails and a massage...DONE. Hoping you can get some sleep tonight. You know we all care so very much for you, and feel your pain.
Nighty night hugs,
Kathy

Thinking of you DorK......I am so sorry.
My bicycle ride was curtailed because my friend's husband hasn't cycled since February. It showed. Finally, we left him at Essential Baking Company, and Amanda and I cycled back to my car. Most of the journey was uphill, so I was glad we had left him. We got there, then drove back and collected him. Then I drove them home prior to heading back to my place.
Gorgeous day, and less, as opposed to more, exercise was better.
Just sent a friend of mine an email to his business address to tell him that his personal account was hacked to the point that even Weiner would blush. Poor guy.
Good night LadieZ. Suspect I will sleep well with all the sun and cycling this weekend. Plus the wine I had with dinner. - Claire

awww, DorK--so sad for you. Such a difficult task to undertake. But, Mocha has a lot of company from all our fur babies who are waiting for us at The Rainbow Bridge. Wahine, thanks for posting the link. That is such a comforting poem for when one loses a beloved pet.
Dau and kids are leaving in the morning. Somehow, their five-day visit stretched into ten, and have loved every second! Haven't once had my buttons pushed by dau. Took a long time but think she may have finally grown up! She was absolutely the best babysitter I could have had--she did everything around the house--cooked, dishes, laundry, picked up, went to grocery store....her 8 & 10 yr olds were a big help to her. Since we sold our pontoon, we bought a summer pool pass for us/extended family and they went to the pool every day. We have a lovely pool area--olympic size on one side of clubhouse, smaller. shallower one on other side--that is the one they liked. Mostly, every day, they were the only ones on that side--like having your own private pool. It was great!! We had dinner on the deck several evenings and the g/dau's really got a kick out of that. Several nights we sat on deck after dark with flashlights and were very quiet, hoping to hear/see some wild life......about the only thing they did see was a gecko on the deck one afternoon. Although, the little girls were inside one afternoon and DH, dau and I on the deck, we heard the most gawd-awful howling/screaming not too far away, but not real close......and we all three jumped up and moved toward the door!!! It didn't last long and I said that it didn't sound human; sounds like wolves to me.......DH says, noooo, I'll bet its coyotes.......and DD looks at us like we're nuts and says....I don't give a f*** WHAT it was, I'm going inside!!! (That's MY girl!!!) Anyways, really sad to see them go home--DD is talking about coming back over Jul 4th and if so, would be wonderful.......
I was treated like the queen I am while DH was gone, but was soooo glad to have him back home. He got to spend sevral days with the g/daus and had a great time. (I did hate to end our HTL deck party and that was a blast, too!!!).
I had finally agreed to get a Kindle for my birthday. But, while in N.Mex, DH saw another contraption that someone had and thought I'd like it/use it/love it.........so, for my birthday I'm getting an ipad2,built in wifi and 3G capability (Greek to me,but understand that when we travel, with this 3G we can call and activate and I can use the ipad anywhere we can get a cell phone connection, which is almost everywhere....) and he ordered some accesory things that are also Greek to me....the protective cover he ordered has a fold out keyboard so that it will be almost identical to my netbook....some kind of cable thing for pictures, and some kind of cable that hooks to ou tv and the ipad and I can watch tv shows from the internet on our big screen tv, AND order/read books......this just blows my mind! Some of you know how totally illiterate i am with anything related to the computer. Anyways, I'm excited and can't wait for it all to get here!!!
How do I know this???? DH doesn't do on-line shopping carts very often. He'd been secluded in the room with the desk top for hours and he finally came and asked me for some help.........bless his heart; his shopping cart had a total of about $4,000 which was waaaay over the price he had in mind. He had tried logging out and going back in but that shopping cart was still there!!!! So, I showed him where he had 3 of this and 2 of that and 3 of this in his cart and showed him how to change it to 1--and of course, I wanted to know WHAT he was buying and it all came out.
PLEEZE, PLEEZE, PLEEZE--if any of you have one or know what it is, PLEEZE tell me I'm going to looooove it!!!!
no dog beerz tonight--gotta be able to get up before the kids leave in the morning.......so, tamale after they get on the road, I'll be in the bar and ready to roll! HUGGGSSSSS to ALL!!!!
cHairs, cheers, bottomzup and huggz

I think I'm going to pass up my friends offer for her house (free housing)...I think I found a good situation that is reasonable and a 20 min walk to where I will be learning....a single mom with a 12th grade DD.....the bedroom isn't AC but she says it has a fan...going to google pictures....it is a bit more than the dorm, but its a bedroom in a house....I'm guessing the woman might be younger than me, but atleast not in her 20's or 30's like a lot of the sublet room situations are....and to sublet a studio or one bedroom apt is out of my budget.....I feel at peace with the decision, but hope the gal gives me a couple days.....I need to talk to my gf...Free is good, but proximity is also good especially for shabbat....the woman is also originally from the states....will keep you posted...
Junie...do tell when is your bday.....ipad sounds nice...kind of wish I got a netbook instead of a lap top....DD wants to buy an ipad...she has an amazon gift card and would use some of her own money to pay the difference....think the amazon gift card is 75....don't know how much an ipad is, but she won't get it till after camp.....
So much to do and not enough time....need to really use my time well....7 week days to get every thing I need done for my trip and for DD....she has pretty much everything she needs for camp except toiletries and that is easy...I do have to so a few things for her and label all her clothes.....need to get that done this week...want to pack next sunday to be sure everything fits....last year she took 2 big duffle bags to camp plus a carry on...she needs linens and towels etc as well as a month of clothes including shabbat clothes....
Want to clean off the memory card for my camera so need to see what pics I've already put on disk....I have over 400 pic on camera and that is too many disks to make if I already have them...just need to remember where they are....want to take a clean memory card in the camera....probably won't take as many pics as on last to trips as won't be doing much sight seeing....
DD and SIL are getting hubby scotch for father's day...so thinking I'll get him russian vodka (no he isn't a lush, but enjoys good drinks when he drinks) and he is hard to buy for....these days his fancy is OLD stereo equipment that he is restoring...he buys on craigslist or ebay....just got an old reel to reel....he has restored a few sets of speakers.....you should see his office....maybe when he's gone this week, I'll sneak in and take pics to post...its a real man cave....leather sofa, two leather chairs, TV and stereo equipment....oh yeah....he has a desk with old desk top computer, laptop for work and his personal netbook!!!!! Its 10 x 20 so not huge!!!!
DS is still looking for a job....I posted on fb to see if any friends have any leads....DS applied for a job delivering those jumping houses/castles etc that people get for kids parties....he really wants it!!! or atleast that is what he posted on fb....he is a hard worker, reliable, honest etc...but he doesn't have that bit of edge for following up....but then again he has never had to.....he got a job pretty easily in Hawaii....and has always had a job since he was 16...in fact only 3 different jobs...Dairy Queen, PETCO and PETSMART...he doesn't want to go back to PETSMART as he says they didn't give him enough hours before and the workers didn't get enough respect...but I figure few hours are better than no hours...and as we all know its easier to get a job when you have a job...he's applied at Target among other places....
NM....thanks for your PM's....will be in touch....
Hot weather today....and supposed to be hot this week....took Bear for a walk to the park, lap around the park and then home....too hot for him.....couldn't walk as fast as I would have liked....so if I walk him, need to do it early in the morning....or just walk him in the evenings for a shorter walk and go for long walk by self.....Going to try to see one of my gf this week...she has an above ground pool....not good for swimming but for playing, talking and having a glass of wine....plus we haven't seen each other since the winter...work sure gets in the way!!!!
Going to go get into bed and read....trying to give up the ambien and the ativan at night but boy, last night it took me over and hour to fall asleep and then I wake up so many times...but want to keep trying.....
Sweet dreams one and all....Husker, Kymn, Chrissy, Wahine, Stanzie, Claire, Beans, Goldie, DorK...who am I leaving out...you need its not on purpose....Hugs, Karen

Dotty, I cried for your fur baby Mocha....so sad....but if he was in such pain , it was so much kinder for him. You will remember him often with love and chuckle to yourself at the things he used to do. (((((Hugs)))))
Junie you will love, love, love your new ipad2........I'm a little green with envy....lol.....They are way better for tavelling and so easy to use!
Karen, glad you've got your accommodation finally sorted it sounds like it's perfect for you.
Beans way to go advertising and selling your old RV in one day!!! Now that's got to be a record!!!
Claire, glad you decided less was more exercise this weekend.......and wow! sorry about your friends A/c.
The rest of you girls, I hope you are enjoying the last of your weekend.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Mornin' Loungettes!
DorK, Hope you were able to get some sleep last night, you were the first thing I thought of this morning (well, after coffee, that is). Hope your day will go ok today...you don't need any more stress. Still sending (((hugs))) to you.
Karen, Glad you may have found a better housing situation. Gawd girl, you have a LOT to do before you leave!!! Sounds like such a fantastic trip! When we go overseas, we still don't like to be gone more than 1-2 wks, because of our dogs. So its great that you will be there for such a long trip, and get to do all that you want to do. I do wish melatonin would work for you, but is it you that is unable to take it? I forgot who it is. Sure works for me, but takes a few days to really kick in I think. Hope you get totally off the sleeping pills though! (edit:Diane Sawyer is doing a special tonight on ABC that will deal with ways to help us get to sleep....FYI).
Claire, Sorry about your friends acct getting hacked. I really don't understand WHY people do that....what do they get out of causing hurt/expense to people they don't even know? I still have not had my netbook checked out that got the virus or whatever, but that is just $, not my personal info being compromised (hope not anyway!).
Junie, that is waaaaay above my head! I know my oldest DD chose a type of kindle (but diff one), as she reads more than anything else, and the way the screen changed pages was more important to her. Since my cell can get emails and internet, and my netbook is so portable, I haven't YET had the desire for anything more confusing. Would prob take forever for me to learn any new technology! But since your DD is returning in July, if you can't figure something out on the new iPad, I bet she could be a big help with that. What a nice present, and so sweet of DH trying to order it all online by himself!!! I cringe when my DH mentions ordering something for me online, as he always spends waaaay too much and never knows how to find discounts, etc. We stopped at Gold Strike on the way home to try their machines, and did get a bit back, but I still was way down, since I didn't get a chance to win any back on Saturday since I was sick in bed all day. Went into the VIP room on our way out, and the girl there commented on how much she liked my hair. That was really a nice compliment, since I had been in bed solid all night and all day and didn't get to wash it before we checked out. Thank God for mousse!!!! LOL.
Hoping this week will go better for everyone. Where are our missing galz? Lori, hope your trip was fun! Gail, Kymn, and anyone else that hasn't posted for awhile, please check in when you can. My parents return to HI on Wed am.....seems like these 2 months have flown by, but with our tornadoes and no power, and DD and g'kids visiting, and their trip to AK, and our cruise, there was a lot going on!
Titz Up!
Kathy

good morning girls,
Kathy, I did sleep well but weeped as I fed only two dogs. I threw Mo's bowl in the trash. Although I woke up early, I am not going into work for a few hours. My face hurts from crying.
Karen, also glad to hear you found a place, good for you.
Junie, glad your DD did not order all those "extra" extras lol.
Claire, sorry for your friend but the wiener talk gave me a chuckle. I had a real email from Spirit Airlines announcing a "big weiner special" and I was really surprised that a commercial airline would poke fun. The whole thing is quite entertaining but I do feel sorry for the guy.
Kymn, hope you are hanging tough. You will be beautiful and pain free before you know it.
To all, have a good day. I am going to try to focus on my job...."word" of the day is dilligaf.

Oh DorK, How well I remember having to toss out beloved pets items. Breaks your heart. Glad you won't go into work for a few hours.Sometimes worst thing is running into a non-pet lover who just doesn't understand....hope your co-workers will be good to you today.
I'm heading for dental appt soon.
Good mantra to have....
DILLIGAF?

Hi again girlzzzzz...... Just a little FYI in case anyone is interested. I just realized that it has been a year that I have taken sublingual Vit B12 (our dogs vet recommended for us, after giving Mav a vit B shot)... just dissolve under your tongue. I used to take the regular type, but he said this gets into your system better. Might be why I have had more energy this past year....not sure....but worth a try if anyone wants to....can get B1G1 at the drug stores this week. That gives us more energy to raise a glass of likker or can of beer...over and over again....LOL. Just wanted to pass this along.

Just heard on the news that Weiner is taking a "short" leave of absense....and I guess that is because "it" is short??? LOL.

Good morning LadieZ.....
Karen.....sounds like a great living arrangement. 20 minute walk is perfect, and so is living with a family for a month.
DorK.....think the right thing to get your head on straight before going to work. I remember when my ex and I had to put our cat Rosalind down. We waitied a bit too long and she suffered at the end. I am sorry we waited so long in retrospect. I still miss her.
All.....one way to get back in touch with my friend. I may need him as a reference contact. I don't feel sorry for Weiner. Everyone is looking at the wrong end of things. He is a major perv and he stalked young women on Twitter and Facebook. Different than garden variety philandering.
He didn't think he would get caught?????? How stupid!!! So he loses on brains.
This is even different than spending time on porn sites. Stalking young women, and then flashing his privates electronically. The poor girl here in WA state. She really was innocent.
Yuck.......

Wahine - that is a beautiful poem about Rainbow Bridge. I didn't click on the link before cuz I knew it would make me weepy and of course it did, but it is so beautiful. Thanks for posting the link. On the mani-pedi/LE thing, alls I know is that I read to always use your own instruments, I believe to not get germs from others as this could raise the possibility of infection, and like everything else be careful not to get cuts on that side. I had read not to cut your cuticles on that side, but I think some of this goes overboard. I do normal mani stuff. Also I've been using my razor underarm and that is posta be a no-no, but there is just not much that comes in and the electric razor is worse, it def hurts the skin. Yes, where are the other goylies? Kymn, Gail, Lori, NM, I was glad to see Husker pop in yesterday...wow, your parents go back again already? That has flown by! Thanks for the vit B info, I take a B-comp every morning, didn't know it would be better to take it differently.
Dorthy - I do hope you are doing okay today. Must have been so hard to throw the bowl out, oh that is so sad. That sounds like a good idea to give yourself a nice mani-pedi. I've always done my own but I don't know that I do such a great job as you do...but now with the LE risk I def don't risk having someone else do it. Thinking of you and sending hugs. Sure hope you do okay today.
Claire - Sounds like a great cycling day and a good thing for all the your friend's husband didn't try to continue...all uphill could be so hard if you're not in shape for it...that is too bad about your friend's email getting hacked and the Weiner stuff is just awful! Yes, Yuck!
Junie - Love your story about your DH and the shopping cart, that is so cute! I don't know about those gadgets, but sure hope you love your new stuff when it comes in.
Karen - Glad you have figured your room for your trip, wow only 7 days and so much to do!
Chrissy - thanks for the congrats! I'm sure not getting the same response on my truck I listed, but I don't really want to sell it, so probly asking too much! I have trouble letting go of stuff. When I cleaned out the old RV I had saved all these almost empty bottles of body lotion, you know, for when there is time to get all of it out of the bottom...wouldn't want to waste anything. Well, I just bagged it an put it in the trash. It was stupidly difficult for me to throw it all away, but I did. Also found a bunch more tampons and pads!!! No need for that anymore, ha ha ha ha!
Do we have a DOTD? I hope no one is counting on me for one as you know it would be straight up vodka! Okay maybe with a twist and a twirl. Hope you all have a great Monday! Cheers!

Good Morning, Loungettes! I had really busy weekend at work this weekend. Steady from 7 am Sat to 11 pm, lots of clean up work plus an admission on Sunday. BUT, no middle of the night phone calls, and I am looking forward to doing some baking today to ward off the chilly. But for right now, I really, really want a hot Irish Coffee or 3 or 4, it is so chilly and drizzly today. At least the house still looks tidy!

Kymn-oh, dear, time to throw DH under the bus, as we say on another thread. I saw on the news this weekend that there was a large solar flare that was expected to interfere with satellite services, I'll bet that's what wiped the Blackberries, and I bet it didn't happen to just you two. Have you considered talking to lawyer to find out what your options and rights are? Usually there are laws protecting the children that determine who gets the home, you may be worrying about something that you don't need to. BTW, I'm going to use your pizza recipe today, thanks for sharing!
DorK-Video surveillance in the HTL? That's a GREAT idea-we can project the "highlights" of some of our escapades on the HUGE flat TV over the pool and laugh ourselves silly. That would be wonderful fun! Meet you at the bar.

Beanie-Happy, happy hour to you and everyone else! I am relaxing in the lounge and having a great time catching up!

Oh, come on, Wahine, why not some videos of the fun here? We can be sure ti will never leave here, and only when there aren't any "guests" to see. We all signed "no blackmail" agreements when we came in the first time, right???

Junie-baking bread isn't as mysterious as it sounds. If you look in any cookbook you'll find the recipe complete with all the steps. After you've done it a few times you start experimenting, which is lots of fun! Bread baking is a great chilly/rainy day project. And if the bread doesn't come out, you can still use it to make croutons or bread pudding! It's a no lose situation! Can't wait to see pics of the pets, love animal pics!

Wahine-good heavens, how much do you think one woman can do? Don't answer that, we all know one woman can do anything at all. Maybe you should think about how much you WANT to do? No, same answer. I'm so sorry you don't feel good, and I bet it's all those things working together. If you think you've got a hangover the best thing to do is try to drink lots of fluids, some of the symptoms come from dehydration, and the chemical byproducts of alcohol digestion can be flushed away, ending the other symptoms. That, plus rest and time will fix you up nicely.

Stanzie-While a male on the premises might be nice, I can understand your caution. You'd want to know the man pretty well, first, and in the meantime women may be a better bet. Although you would need know the ladies well, too! In my family the big joke is how we all run across something and "put it where I can get it later" and then not seeing it again for years! We'd all be better off leaving the item where we found it. And I can remember being so tired that I've put car keys in the fridge and boots in the cupboard next to the cereal. Found some things in odd places over the years!

Wahine-we'll keep the "Handle Gently" alert on you until you feel better. No dumping, no splashing, no yelling, any drink you want, and an endless supply of the painkiller of your choice, along with an ample supply of zofran for the tummy!

Beanie-congrats on selling the old RV so quickly! Good for you!
Karen-I thing getting your DH a bottle is a wonderful idea! I'm sure he'll appreciate it greatly. And it will be a nice surprise for him.
Wahine-so glad you are feeling better! I'm not sure about the buffet, but if you stick with things that are very hot or very cold, and avoid eggs and cheese which are prime culprits for getting contaminated with food poisoning bugs, you should be ok.

Boy there's a lot to ketchup on after a weekend! On to page 513. . .
Ok, I totally missed the Blackberry as fruit bush thing! Guess that tells you where MY mind goes!
Sure, they look so much alike!
DorK-I am so sorry about Mocha. Losing a furbaby is so hard even when there are others at home. Each one is unique. I'm sure it was the correct thing to do, and I know he had a wonderful life with you. RIP Mocha, see you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Okay...I'm hoping NM will come in with a better DOTD, but just thought I'd post a BLUE MONDAY coctail recipe:
BLUE MONDAY COCKTAIL
A Blue Monday Cocktail is a drink composed of vodka, Cointreau and Blue Curacao, poured into a cocktail glass with ice cubes and shaken. The Blue Monday can also be served in a highball or Collins glass half-filled with crushed ice and topped with club soda for a delightful summer cocktail that is perfect for barbecues and outdoor parties. This recipe makes one Blue Monday Cocktail, straight up with a lemon peel for garnish.
Instructions:
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
Add the vodka, Cointreau and Blue Curacao to the cocktail shaker.
Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds.
Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a twisted lemon peel and serve immediately.
Bottoms and Titz Up!!

Oh Goodie! I knew as soon as I twed to post I'd bump into NM...now for some great reading!!!!

Beanie--thanks for bailling me out on the DOTD, I was so upset by DorK's Mocha that I completely forgot about a DOTD! Blue Monday is a good choice. phanx agin, Beanie!

Hi loungettes! Just want you to know I'm not face down in the pool (my greatest fear). It has been a hectic week with DD1 graduating, visiting relatives and a migarine (at least two of those events have common features). I logged on Saturday morning but there were 4 pages to read and I wanted to read everything cuz you are all so funny and I needed a laugh but then I was summoned to the kitchen to start breakfast for the "guests" ... the migraine started shortly after. Anyway, no time to read right now either as I am off to see the dentist... the fun never ends... and then 2 conference calls but I'll be back at the bar after that. Wow, haven't had a drink all weekend... definately out of character.
0 -
Astorm--hope the migraine gets better soon! I used to get migraines and be totally incapacitated by them. I feel sorry for anyone who gets them.
0 -
Ugh! I started out today with a 6:30 am conference call, only to have our European counterpart not join the call. It's almost 9 am here and I need another cup of coffee!!!!
Happy Monday everyone!!!
This weekend is my 12 year wedding anniversary. The last 2 anniversaries were ruined with my 1st cancer dx on 6/17/09 and starting chemo after my 2nd dx on 6/16/10. We were thinking about going out of town to celebrate it. My pick was the beach in Southern California. My DH's was to go to Northern AZ and see the Grand Canyon. What do y'all think???

Oh My gfosh ......so much to say and so little time... Ok, so I was supposed to throw away Liesl's things - well no. I'm truely the most sentimental of human beings, I have her first collar, baby teeth, first stuffed animal... everything. But I did pack it all up in the attic... Ugh still makes me cry- so big big hugs Dorothy!!!!
Kymn - are you reading or just having a nice time with your Mom. Just hope you are alright... worried a bit but like knowing your Mom is with you.
NM - thanks for reaffirming my thoughts on rental, that makes me feel better - now just hope it comes through and she is lovely.
Ugh Migranes - so sorry those are deadly.
Goldie - hope you are alright with the fires - maybe you are off somewhere fun.
Karen- you are leaving when?? Oh my gosh! I'd be panicked beyond belief but at least you family is still home so you don't have to pack up the house and all. Sounds like a good arrangement - hope you all get along nicely.
Ok, better run for now..... Kathy glad you are feeling better!

DorK - We put our cat Haley to sleep on Easter Sunday. Wasn't exactly how I planned to spend Easter. She had lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating or drinking much. Come to find out, she was in kidney failure. It was one of the toughest things I've had to do. I cried harder than when I got dx with BC. I have a dog named Mocha, too. He's a really crazy Border Collie. RIP to your Mocha.

Wow....lots happening today. First let me say to Beans, I am SO GLAD you are posting more often now, as I really miss you if you miss a day or two, or more. Now that your post is on the prev page, I forgot what I wanted to comment on. However, the Blue Monday dwink sounds smashing....good choice, esp for the sadness of DorK having to put down Mocha. And now to find out that Kittycat had to put down Haley on Easter. Soooooo sad.
Stanzie, Of course you don't have to throw Liesl's things out! It is totally an individual choice. For me, it is always harder to see things that were from a deceased pet, so it is better not to have it (for me). After I lost my DH, I had to quickly give all his clothes away as it hurt too much to see them hanging in the closet, like he would be back home any day. I did save mementos, of course. Probably too many, but it was the normal everyday things that were too hard to look at. Can't believe that it will be 19 yrs next month...seems much more recent than that. At the casino drawings on Sat night, when I finally got out of bed, there was a lady who looked just like you, from the back. The back of her hair, and the color and length looked so much like yours! I am glad that Junie didn't get to go, as it would have been dreadful if she had eaten with us and gotten food poisoning too. First time that I was glad she wasn't there!
NM, I just laff out loud at your posts.....sooooo funny! And yes, I think it was the mayo in the broccoli salad that was bad. Sunday am I just had fruit mostly. That blackmail pic is a riot! Okay, okay....if you INSIST....I will agree that we could have video surveillance....but it HAS to stay at the HTL!!! Promise? Otherwise too much incriminating evidence....LOL. I also love the HAPPY HOUR flag with the fish....too cute. Glad you survived the weekend!
Kittycat, Happy Anniversary this weekend! I loved being at the Grand Canyon....will the fires be causing smoke there? Hope they are too far away, for that.
Gail, Ouch, hate, hate, hate migraines. That pic describes the feeling perfectly! Hope you get over it really soon....and hope DD's graduation went well. Wondered where you were! Hope your dental goes well; just got back from mine, and all well here. I bought some new whitening strips from him....when I got the bleach it didn't work for me...striped my teeth since I lost enamel in some places from eating lemons all the time as a teen (no one said it would HURT my teeth!). That was $$$, so if these strips work, will be big savings....one of the hygenists used it over the weekend and her teeth looked soooo good. When my DH broke off his front tooth last week, this dentist was able to bond something to it that looks good....but prob not as strong as a crown.
Okay looks like Pants fixed up a whole bar full of the Blue Monday dwinks.....so guess if my arm gets twisted I just might try one a wee bit early........
Down the Hatch!

She's back and she's chatty...
Oh, DorK, so sorry. Every time I lose a pet it reminds me that I swore never to fall in love again... and then I give the survivors extra love. We have a 12 YO corgi who has gotten sick every summer for the past three years (just as we are getting ready to go on vacation). I just can't bear the thought of not having her drooling on my shoes.
Wow, Kittycat snuck back in while I was out! Nice to see you! I'm a June dx too (09), as is my BFF ('10)... I just hold my breath for the entire month now.
Stanzie - I purge files constantly (shredding is kind of fun) but I can't seem to get rid of my pet files. For the corgi we lost a few years ago, I went through the file and threw out all the bad news and just kept his pedigree, baby pix, etc. Oh, and yes there is a box of collars and blankets in the garage that I can't part with... I kept some of the human kids' things too. DH keeps threatening to clean house but I think he is a little afraid to actually discard anything. Love the George Hamilton story. Once I was on a date and ran into someone I had dated for several months earlier that year... he was also with a date and tried to introduce me but couldn't remember my name! As he stood there stammering, I interrupted and introduced him to my date - "John, this is DICK. We dated for awhile but I obviously left less of an impression than he did." Well, Dick's real name was also John so clearly he had left an impression.
Kathy - dentists said I have a chip. Pooh. Gotta go back and as long as I'm there he's going to fill another little chip even tho it is very small. He said my hygiene is excellent but THESE THINGS JUST HAPPEN AS WE GET OLDER... like that is supposed to help? Add insult to injury! Are you still in cleaning mode? I'm in cooking mode - got stuck there cuz we had family visiting for the graduation and now I can't stop... wanted to give the girls plenty of healthy choices while they are at home: homemade yogurt and granola, whole grain biscuits, 3 kinds of soup, vegetarian burgers, açai-frozen yogurt cups, lemon cake (which is going faster than the fresh fruit) and grilled veggies for paninis.
Beanie - guilty as charged - I did eat my dog's anti-B. Nice shirt you found for Kymn. The pill keepers are so you can think about the pills once when you fill it and then the keeper reminds you every day. And maybe I won't take the dog's meds. I have 4 of them so I only have to refill (and think about it) once a month. Why don't they make drink keepers?
This one is kinda cute.
Kymn - you are so talented - just wiped out those Blackberries with your mind I'll bet! My ex blamed me for burning down our house. Um hum. With my mind. Cuz I'm a witch. Told him if I had that kind of power he wouldn't be standing. Never underestimate the power of the metaphysical!
that fire was the most cleansing experience of my life... hmmm
Karen - what's a ripstick? My DH hates everything I buy him. DD1 is almost as bad so Dad's and grads month is probably what gave me the migraine. I was trying to think if things to give her that wouldn't make her upset (she put the P.O. is disappointment)... thought maybe some things she will need for college but the orientation isn't until tomorrow and she graduated on Friday. So I was at a Saks outlet and they had professional hair appliances so I bought her a really nice blow dryer... not a good gift. At the bookstore I picked up a book of tips for college students... then I meandered over to the jewelry store and bought her small diamond earrings. The night before grad she was very emotional and all I could get out of her was that everyone was going to be wearing sunglasses - it's the thing - and she broke hers and she will feel awkward. Wow. So I said, "Darn! I was going to buy you new shades for a graduation gift but I thought you would want to pick them out yourself!" She smiles. Then I said, I was also thinking about diamond earrings though..? She said she would rather have designer shades. Good cuz they cost more than the earrings which I took back. Thank goodness there was something she wanted cuz I think a blow dryer would have made her cry. DH heard this exchange and said, ‘boy that was dicey'... so I told him that it was his fault because he behaves the same way! He doesn't remember this so I gave him the list of all the "wrong" gifts I have given him over the years and told him that he has taken all the joy out of giving by being so visibly disappointed with every gift. Last year (I think it was for his birthday) he said he wanted a surf board. So I said that's great can I get it for you and he agreed. Then I heard him telling his dad "I just bought a new surfboard... no, she won't care." So now I just give him permission to buy himself something and that is the gift.
How nice that your bff moved into the neighborhood!
Chrissy - thanks for clarifying. I thought pasties were something else entirely. (Oh, I see NM made the same mistake)
Deb - welcome! I think you'll find that most of us have adopted the position that we might as well enjoy life... and personally I think that calls for champagne... and wine... and cheese while you're at it... My dx was 2 years ago and I have had a lot of doctors since then - not one of them has advised me to quit drinking altogether. I do find that I have a lower tolerance now but that may be related to aging (uggh) rather than Tamoxifen or any other feature of cancer treatment.
Claire - excellent oven cleaning tips. I also take the batteries out of the smoke detector! Great deal - $4 with live music to boot!
NM - LOL about the "anytime minutes"! I used to work in a huge corporate office. The receptionist used to confuse me with someone else (not sure why)... It was back in the 80's when we still got paper messages and I was single. Once I was coming back from lunch with a group and we had the giggles. The receptionist called out to me that my husband called and said it was urgent. I asked her if she got his name and phone number cuz I haven't met him yet!

Hello to everyone I've missed - Kristy, hunky-dory (miss you!), Junie... and everyone I missed again.

NM - Wow you have been working so hard! It's so great to see your post today, you are always missed when we have to let you out of the bar for work! Now it's almost happy hour again, whew! Made it for anudder dwinkie poo! I like the HTL surveillance cam idea, we sure could have some fun wi'dat! That is a perfect black mail picture - ha ha ha ha !! BTW I love bakin bread to, just love doing yeast breads...when I make pitas it's a yeast bread too...so so so good!
AStorm - Yippee you're back! But yuck about a migraine. I've gotten two this year, they are a special, wicked breed. So sorry you got one and hope it ends soon. I just hate those!! The barbie head in a vise is a perfect pic for it!! Well, I'm holding my breath in June too for a different reason, sort of, I don't know if you were here to see my big goal for June which is to not have one single doctor apt- he he he! Now is 6/13 so I'm getting near half way there! LOL at your Dick story! Love the pill holder too, so funny! Congratulations on two years past dx too, that is so fantastic!!! Really great to see you post again!
Kittycat - Oh boy, we get to see you twice today! Happy 12 anniversary! You sound like you are doing great and that is such good news. I used to go to So Cal beaches but they have lost their charm for me due to so crowded, so I'd kinda lean toward the Grand Canyon, but I just love the desert and Northern AZ, southern UT and NV...since you are in NV you might like a beach trip better though, for new scenery. I'm so sorry about your cat Haley, too having to be put to sleep on Easter.
Stanzie - I was so delighted to hear of the sentimental things you kept, I have kept my cat's whisker in a special little silk box. I guess it's one memorial of him.
Wahine - thanks for the nice message! You are too cool! Glad you liked the Blue Monday...thanks for telling us too about your loss, almost 19 years, I would imagine the anniversaries are difficult. Tomorrow is the 2 yr anniv of my daddy passing and just had the 15 year of my mommy passing, was June 6. I miss them so much.
Okay, enuf talk...me want dwink! DorK hope you are okay, been thinking boutcha all day! Hope everyone else is okay too and can meet me for a nice big dwinking in about 2 min!!! Cheers!

Hi girls! Already had pau hana, but more moscato wine for the Bachelorette show. It breaks my heart that my mom is getting so forgetful, and today she got so lost and couldn't get to her hair appt. I know I am so lucky to still have them, so I hate to fuss, but it does break my heart. Her friend (much younger than her) called while I was there, and she had noticed it too. HOPE I got her meds straight for her, this time!!!
Beans, that is so sad about losing your mom and dad. I cannot imagine that happening, yet. I know several other galz have lost their parents too....sooo sad.
Gail, Yup, that is the new normal.....being told that "these things happen as we get older". I hate hearing that from a doctor!!!! I think that is why I wanted to start kayaking....and doing more things to keep me healthy...now that I am into a new decade. You are a bit younger than me, and I remember clearly the first time a dr told me that something I was worried about was normal, for my age. SH*T! Glad you were able to find out that DD really wanted new shades!!!! They are hard to figure out sometimes. My DD's b'day is coming up, but when I don't have time to shop, money ALWAYS fits!!
Yeah Karen, whats a ripstick? Glad Gail asked, as I don't know what that is, either!
Well, hope everyone is having a good night! Lori, are you home now????? Gotta watch tv now.....so CIAO!

Oh Gail your post about your DD made me feel so much better. I have yet to give ANYTHING to my daughter that she actually acts happy about or says she likes. Today I found her some gum that she really likes and I told her I was excited to have found it. She takes it and just starts to walk away. I asked her if she realized what she just did. She said "What?" I told her do you know you never say thank you. She just looks at me. I said well someday soon you will find that will really be a problem. and she just walked away.... so teenage years last how long? Our long time babysitter(mainly for son with DS) but nice for the kids to have a "second Mom" who they can talk to. She is sooo amazing, I tell her I need my time with her too as she is one of these people you just feel better after talking to them. Anyway, one day she asks my DD what makes her happy and she couldn't come up with anything but finally said the cat. Wondering if I should be worried. Otherwise seems happy, laughs with her brother and friends and such... I hear her talking about how she doesn't want to do and look like me in any way which I understand for a teenager but I think she has been saying this since she was about 6.
Oh my profile picture - if it worked is of my Dad for Father's Day. Miss him so much. He died after I found out I was pregnant with twins - very hard! He was always optomistic and always the practical joker - very charming and got away with everything! One day actually ran over a policeman - he wasn't hurt, ended up on the hood of the car. They got to talking and went out to dinner and were friends from then on. nope no ticket. He was pretty amazing, didn't really get to know him till I got married and was grown and then he died shortly after.
Hope Kymn and HD are alright!
Trying to finish packing to take my son up to camp. Hate, hate that he will be gone a whole month but he loves it and is happy so off he goes. I just miss him terribly. He makes me laugh all the time and actually helps me. Finished all the pressure washing today... whew!
