Hi again, I am three days post exchange. Still very sore, and have been running a low grade fever since yesterday afternoon. I called PS, and he said as long as it stayed below 101.5 he wasnt concerned. Any of you had any fever? I had pocket work done, so I am thinking that is some of the soreness. also he removed a lump, and it was benign, Said it was a fat necrosis. I am glad he took it out so it didndt show up on future mamograms. I am taking percocet and tylenol, but it isnt helping too much. I like how they look, but think they may be swollen. I am very sore where the band of my sports bra hits my rib cage. Hope other exchange ladies are doing better, and hope I will be soon.

trail2 - It's very good you checked in with your PS. Monitor the fever closely. I too had a low grade fever after my exchange. It went away within a few days. Drink lots of water. Do you have a muscle relaxer like Flexeril or Valium? My PS prescribed Flexeril about my DMX and I used it in the later part of my fills and after my exchange. Rest. Drink. Repeat.
Hang in there. Do monitor that fever closely. Drink protein shakes if you have to, but load up on protein too. xo 0 -
Hi Ladies,I just posted a couple of quick pics of day1 post-exchange on the photo forum. Feeling good today, no pain meds, only tylenol!! Even got out and had a relaxing pedicure w/ my DD and aunt. Hope you other exchange sis's are healing and feeling better each day-0

Trail2 -- a lowgrade fever after exchange in first few days can be a matter of the body dealing with the foreign body (the implant). So the fever is a reaction to the foreign body. My PS told me it happens sometimes (it did not in my case) and this sort of fever is often an adjustment period. But watch for signs of infection like a higher fever and redness on or around your breasts. As Dawne has already said, keep an eye on things and check in again with your PS if it doesn't go away soon.

Trail2 - Just saw your post about the fever. keep a close watch; I had a fever after my BLMX and it vanished pretty quickly-hoping yours will too. Sending healing wishes your way& hugs-

Congrats to all the recent exchangees and good luck to those scheduled this week!
While I was on vacation my exchange surgery packet arrived in the mail. I knew I was scheduled for August 24, but getting all the paperwork makes me feel like this is really happening. I'm going to the PS tomorrow for my last (over) fill and to discuss my final concerns and requests.
Nervous and excited.....

hey!!!! ok...feel really bad for deserting.... =( how is everyone? Thought i'd pop on and update. Implants have settled really well. I have kinda gotten used to the slight difference on the 1 side mow

i have an app to see surgeons again on Aug 1st to discuss fat grafting but to be honest....?? I think i'm gonna say i no longer want it.
Since my exchange i have gone through a summer of strappy tops, a weeks holiday in Cyprus in bikinis...and i'm quite at ease with my new breasts now. What seemed to be such a big deal 6 months ago..no longer does
))I may go through all that and be no better off...or even maybe worse off if it doesn't go to plan! is it worth it for such a slight indifference?? No...not for me..not any more.
if any of my closer friends on here would like to keep in touch then private message me with your email addresses and we can email. or i can give you my twitter username (i have a locked/protected account) where we can keep in touch. i will still pop on here from time to time to update.
I hope you are all keeping well. Love and ((((hugs)))) to you all,Kay xxx0 -

M-Star -- so good to hear from you! And I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to upset the cart and feeling really good inspite of slight differences. Post a photo on the picture forum! Sounds like a FAB summer. Are you back to work now?

ladies, I need some help and advise. I had Exchange Surgery on July 7th, I have Naturelle 45's, 800cc Cohesive Gel Implants. I have been pretty ok until yesterday. I had a glass break in the kitchen and so since I was home alone, I had to bend down and sweep it all up, then I mopped the floor. It did not hurt at the time and I am left handed. Today, I woke up with a horrible stabbing pain in the left foob, which is far worse when I bend foward, but if I physically compress the foob with my hand, the pain is not there. When sitting, if I push on various areas, it does hurt. This does not feel like muscle pain. I have no swelling, reddness, or fever. I called the PS on call and was told that I most likely did not rip any internal sutures, but I have taken vicodin, flexiril, and motrin, and done heat packs...nothing helps. Does anyone have any idea what this is??

Rnjules - It sounds like you overdid it. This early out, anything that requires the use of your pec muscles isn't a good idea because those implants are settling in the pocket and developing scar tissue. I would definitely call your PS tomorrow morning and tell him what happened and see what he says but it sounds like you've overdone it.
Because you have no feeling ... be careful with what I'm going to say next ... but I would try cold compresses, not ice because you don't have feeling in the foobs. Try cold wash clothes and lay them across your chest.
You need to really take it easyright now! No lifting, no reaching. Rest! Keep us posted and do call your PS in the morning!

Hello everyone haven't been on in a week or so.. Time to check in.. Hope everyone is well.
Christine 47.. My first PS din't do such a great job with my tissue expanders and the implants he used. I was not happy at all with my results. Soooo I switched PS. She told me that my old PS made my pockets entirely too big and the implants she used were also too big. I had huge divots and was just not happy.
So my new PS switched the implants and made the pockets much smaller during the first surgery but told me that I would probably still need more revisions because my skin is really thin and she could only stitch so much at one time. This surgery was scheduled in Jan of this year. She like to schedule the revision surgeries at least 4 months apart but I prefer to wait 6 to really let the implant and skin settle. So she did another revision surgery on June 8 where she still have to remove more skin and lift the implants... more on one side then the other. Hopefully I only have one more surgery and that will be for the nipple reconstruction... She may also do some fat grafting is necesary during this surgery. If no divots appear then she will just do the nipple reconstruction and I will only have to have them tattooed later on..I hope to be totatlly complete by the end of this year

I have a friend that ran a low grade fever after her exchange. Her PS told her to do some deep breathing. He said that sometimes it is a reaction to the anethesia. She started doing some deep breathing and the fever went away. The fever started on the 3rd day after exchange and lasted only a couple of days.

jkz, I think things are looking better, the size seems great. I think my problem with a wrinkle centrally at clevage area resulted from a poor dressing post exchange.(my guess is a resident put this dressing on after the surgeon left the room, my PS is very picky and I can not imagin this was his dressing). This area has smoothed out since a few days after removing the dressing. I loved my TEs ( I know that soulds crazy, but they looked good). I do think I will need a bit of fat grafting at clevage area, and I want some if possible where the breast surgeon removed my nodes under my arm and I have no fat and such a deep hole. Anyone have fat grafting in this area?? Also hoping for fat grafting to take advantage of some free lipo. Hopefully I can loose a few pounds in the next several months to take full advantage.
What are most ladies using on their scars early following exchange???

christine47 - Regarding scars there is a helpful thread called Skin S.O.S. - Scar Remedies. You can search for it in the search box in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Lots of helpful information on there!
My PS wouldn't let me do anything to my scars for at least six weeks. My incisions were held together by glue and that stuff didn't come off for weeks and weeks! When it finally did, he suggested silicone scar strips and those helped a lot ... my scars are not raised at all, totally flat.

thanks dawne-hope, I will check it out. I guess I should wait until I see my PS on Friday. I heard a dermatolgist raving about the silicone scar strips on satilite radio this week. Where do you purchase them?

I second not doing anything for several weeks re: scars... the risk is too great that you will push bacteria (accidentally) into the scar while rubbing cream or whatever on it.
I believe there is a scar thread ladies -- I'm sorry I don't recall the name of it... MBJ where are you? You always remember the name. Anyway it's a thread here on BCO where scar remedies are discussed IN DEPTH

I must say I did not do much to my scars and they have faded nicely all by themselves since May 2010.

I ordered from CVS online, I think, or maybe it was Walgreens. I don't remember now.
Here is the name: Retouch Silicone Scar Reduction Sheet

Christine47, I too loved my TE's and not real happy with new foobs, I have posted pic. I don't want another surgery. I liked all of the upper pole and width I had with TE's. PS recommended scar away silicone strips (Walgreens). I would not use anything without PS ok. It has been muggy here so not using them as sweating alot. I did have fat grafting on stomach-no pain. I still have pain and swear I can feel stitches pull in foobs, I had surgery in May, still have ripples.

Grey -- has your PS given you any instructions re: massaging your implants? Maybe they just need to be kneaded (as it were
0 -
Lilah, he said no massage, but I have done it anyway, thanks to the video. I see PS again in a few weeks. I am trying to be happy with symetry.

You look fantastic Grey! Symmetry is great! I didn't see ripples ... but am sorry you sound so unhappy.

Hey girls! Wow, it has been a long time since I have visited this forum. I am searching for info on the lat flap and ended up here, weird.
My BMX was one year ago 7/21. For those of you who do not know me, I I had a lot of issues on the way. Last's weeks lat flap was # 9 boob surgery for me yet I still need to go through exchange surgery since I also still need an implant and currently have another tissue expander.
Has ANYONE OR ANYONE had the lat flap with TE? I just don't get this and frankly, my friends/ family will be dissapointed to see that I am no longer positve about this darn experience. Oh, people look up to me for going through so much. Do I have a choice? Thanks for hearing me.

Hi! Where can I find this photo forum?

hi DorthyK!
I had a latissimus flap in Nov. What would you like to know? 8^) I am having my TE swap this wed for a silicone implant. So I had the LF in Nov. My plastic surgeon likes using the back better than the tummy because the muscle tissue/nerve endings are better/stronger. I was hoping for a tummy flap but I have too much there! My friend had not enuf! So it just depends. I only had a MX on my left side. He cut a long slit in my back where the bra love handle is and they somehow slide the tissue around and through the skin. Compared to the MX the flap was nothing. I have extra skin there which was the porpose while they did the TE and now he will clean it up and remove extra skin. I will know Wed! Good luck to you.

yes i went back to work on Dec 9th 2010. Doing ok. Thought it'd be harder than it was with being a hairdresser but seems all thet stretching and physio right out of surgery helped loads! =D I'm still avoiding lifting anything ridiculously heavy until i've been a year out of exchange...just to be safe.
