madismommyThat is a night sleeve. During the day you were compression sleeves that look like this with a glove or gauntlet:

And there are some companies that have cool patterns and colors but I can't wear those because the sleeves are long enough. I find that most people don't notice at first that I am wearing the sleeve. I think it's the glove that makes it more noticeable.

Connie, we went to Disney in April and stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath condo about 10 minutes away and it was wonderful!!! The location was perfect, the condo was really big and really nice, the pool and property great.....the only part that sucked was my cancer diagnosis! BOO! We've stayed on property twice before and I think it's over rated as well!!!
. I'm so jealous, have an awesome time!!!
Jackie, that's exactly how I feel at times....like no one allows me the chance to be sad, whenever i do get a little down I get lectured from the cheering section and get "ok, stop....none of that!!" I think it's ok to let out ALL emotions w/ this....because it's not possible to always smile and clap and say "yay, I have breast cancer!!!"
I'm heading into my office this morning....I'm going to work for a few hours.....my husband has already given strict instructions of 1:00 cut off!!! I'm also calling my BS because my AND incision seems to be oozing from one spot??? I just want my BS to look.....
Happy Monday everybody!!!0 -
Happy Monday to everyone! Just got caught up on all of the new posts... Been busy lately getting a brain MRI and trying to keep busy. MRI was clear, but headaches are still with me, yuk! We just got new appliances at home (frig, stove, washer and dryer and microwave), oh yeah, and a bigger tv. I know what you mean, Susan, about the new gadgets, I had to read the book to figure out how to use the new high effiency washer. Takes some getting used to with the no agitator. Found it's much easier on my back though. The new frig has the freezer on the bottom and that's much better for the back as well. The new range is a double oven but is only the size of a normal 30'. I'm sure I'll use the top oven more and again, less bending over. Also we had the microwave mounted above the stove where it should have been all along. Had the
BIL install the microwave, a ceiling fan in the kitchen and a new pendant light above the sink. Looks like a brand new kitchen now. (except I still hate my countertop and the sink!). Now if I can get more energy, the living room needs to be painted, then new furniture in there. Ceilings need to be painted first though and that's going to be a pain... cause it's not only the ceiling in the living room, it's the dining room and kitchen as well. (all continuous, no doors to break it off)! Hope everyone had a great week and that's it's cooler than last week!!0 -
Morning! What rain you are having...and I swear I don't remember weather like this.
Madismommy....comments from people can be so strange! You either get the poopy-face from people, saying oh you poor thing! Cancer? Are you in pain? You need to try and live now! (huh?) or the ones telling you your cured now so stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop talking about cancer. (oh that's great! I'm cured? Wow). Until you have heard the words yourself you have NO IDEA what it's like to be dx'd with this disease. Just try and ignore them...or throw a shoe at them as one of the gals here did! Lol
Connie...have a wonderful trip! So sorry about your AC at home...hot nights are miserable for sleeping. Can you sleep in your bsmt? Mine is freezing but it's unfinished. I agree...kids don't really appreciate Hawaii...to them it's the pool/beach and unlimited food/drink...and much whining in the evening, trust me....MUCH whining ...about how bored they are. Much cheaper places to go with pools/beaches.
Zap....I don't go to Frys...is there more than one?
I must say that while DH and I have enjoyed our trip we are really looking forward to home. We are looking at everything twice as I doubt we will return. Since our 5-yr plan is to retire to FL...we will already be at the beach. Just have to hope that the economy doesn't screw us up anymore. But you know what happens when Man plans! God just laughs!
Have a great Monday all! Also...won't be able to make it Friday for lunch...enjoy!0 -

Wendy... have a safe trip. I am envious... I love Hawaii. My DH used to fly that route to HNL and Maui so I used to tag along alot. Good excuse to work on my Hawaii agent certification..
Ask a pilot on layovers how to economize.... they have a well earned reputation for being CHEAP.What wonderful weather we are finally having. I am so looking forward to getting back on the golf course tomorrow with my ladies group. PS gave me the "go ahead" but I am going to hold back on my swing for awhile. And I will likely be wearing my lovely LE sleeve.
Makmak... thinking of you this week......

Last rad tomorrow! Rita is taking me. I'm looking forward to being done. Doctor cut down the steriods today and dropped some of the other meds. Hopefully better days are ahead. I could sure use an infusion on energy. My hair is falling out again. The doctor wanted me to wait until my last rad to cut it off to help protect my head from burns. Not sure I'll be able to do anything fun with it.
Loving Madismommy719 last line....just one cancer free day!
Sending hugs.

Just jumping in to say a final hi. I really meant to do a nice chat, but oh what a day. Had some early running around right after breakfast....then Maggie's house and animals, then back home to pick up sticks ( another storm donation ) of about half acre. Off to town to get some supplies, check on the truck. Stopped at Whataburger ( something we try not to do too often ) then on to the gas station for mower gas.....home to drop Denny off while I saw to the animals at Maggie's again.....then a stop at the manor. On to home where I mowed where the rider wont' go around the house. Then got busy in the dirty cat screen room and worked a couple hours. Now its t.v. time and I don't remember what I intended to chat about.
I bet I lost at least 2 lbs today -- in sweat alone. Better days are coming,. See you all in the morning.
Hugs, Jackie

YAY WendyTY!! I officially demand better days ahead for you!!!!!
Comments from people never go away do they? Today I was in a great mood about everything and making light of my BC at my work (I worked from 9-2 today, first official time back after my surgeries) and I was showing some of my war wounds (my port, my scars from my 3 separate drains, NOT quite ready to share the nippleless foobies!) and my uncle says to me "oh calm down, you're FAR from being done being miserable....don't be all happy yet!". Oh, I'm sorry....I was unaware I was not allowed to smile or laugh until I'm done w/ my treatment?" what a butt!!!!
Still doesn't top my best friends husband telling me I have to "EARN" my new boobies....that's what the chemo is for. Apparently having to chop off your original copies isn't enough????
When we are diagnosed we should be given a big ole stick we are allowed to smack people with when they say something really stupid to us!!!0 -
Madismommy You've heard "there's an ap for that" Well on bc.org there's a thread for that (and just about everything else:

WendyTY - LAST RAD today! Best wishes to you...holding you near and dear!
Madismommy (Can I call you MM?) - GEESH...the comments will never cease to amaze me! Just a friendly reminder: in one ear and out the other!
Jackie - I hope your day includes some down time.
----------------------------
Have a nice day...keep cool...in more ways than one!

Congrats WendyTY! So glad it is your last rad! I hope you start to get your energy back!
madismommy - wouldn't be Windsor Hills, by chance? That is where we always stay. Super nice! I can't believe some of the things people have said! How rude and disrespectful. People are idiots.
Enjoy the beautiful weather everyone! Get out and get some Vit D!

Madismommy- EARN! He certainly didn't earn his balls. Sheesh. More misery to come... WTH! Enjoy being drainless and finding out the port is kinda weird but not so bad. (c: Laughing and smiling are very good medicine, even when you're not sick.
Lago- Yep. Be cool all.

Congrats on the last rad WendyTY!

Love the big ole stick comment! Thanks for the great laugh today. Beating the crap out of something might give me a little pleasure right now. Although it would probably just wear me out.

MM....some people are never happy -- glad you kept your wits and sparkle anyway.
WendyTY...O happy day. Hope you have thousands more with lots of energy to enjoy.
Adey...you are so right. One of the finest and most outstanding health benefits we have ever had ( the added bonus that it is free ) is that of smiles and laughter. I recommend using them as much as possible.
Going to be a fantastic day today.....and I am going to be a little gentler on myself. Yesterday was a bit much.....and seems for us the heat wave is going to continue. Really not wild about this with so much outdoor work.....thank goodness for ice tea.
See you all later....hi and hugs to everyone.
Jackie

Jackie- Thanks for another quote for my file! Take care of yourself today. I too am tired of the heat. I think I'll go take a walk in it! (c:

Morning! Last full day and then tomorrow the marathon day home...but we are so ready! Want my bed and pillow and frig AND....more than one TV! Lol!
Mad...a big stick! Yes! What a great idea!
WendyTY...you are done!!!! I am so happy for you!
Jackie...you need a "Jackie Day". Get some time for yourself today.
BJ....teachers are already back here as school starts 8/1. Can't believe summer is waning...
Joan...yep, plenty of ways to economize here and we know them all! Not trying to save money but Jeesh! $18. Burgers??? $82. Steaks???? But we know where the early bird specials are!!!
Waving at you all...hope Tuesdat treats you well...make it a great one!0 -
I'm good w/ the MM....or just Mad....or you can all call me Jenn (real name)
I met with my onc this morning and am considering a clinical trial for my chemo treatment.....almost all the same drugs, basically the "A" may or may not be put I in to play....and a 1 year infusion of avastin after chemo could be possible.....I'm still on the fence with clinical or not, IF it might help the BC research for the future than I am more inclined to go for it!!! Have some reading to do.
More importantly, I got to meet Lago while there....
and sit through my very first infusion session with her, it was pretty calm....way better than I had in my mind!!! Thanks Lago for letting us invade your chair space!!!!
And on the way home my DH took me to Gene and Judes for a hotdog....oh how I forgot how GOOD those are!!!!
Except I've been up since 4am.....couldn't sleep and we left for the city at 6am. BOO!!!
WendyTY, hope your last rads went well....did you do a cartwheel out the door?
Connie... We stayed at Blue Heron Beach resort....I think it's a time share property (arent they all? LOL) but I refused any of their "free" crap in exchange for their seminars....it was on the 535, real close to the back entrance onto Disney property.... I definitely think we'll do the off property thing again next time too!!!
I need a nap but see my BS in 45 minutes.....

Oh, forgot.... WendyK, safe travels home!!!!

Sorry I've been MIA; I get on the computer to do some much needed research on BC, and then I don't make it over to 'our neck of the woods!"
A big area of confusion for me is that women with the same 'stats' as myself, are having mastectomies, not lumpectomies. Is it what the patient wants or is it being suggested by the medical field? I go tomorrow to the onc for my game plan. My port is scheduled for Friday, 7/29.
Jenn, you are a better person than I, for your lack of a snarky comeback. It ticked me off just reading about it!
Congrats WendyTY on your last treatment.
Have great days ladies.

MaryjRN MX is not about stage it's really about the tumor, location, BRCA, family history and a whole host of other stuff.
In my case tumor was very large and I had small breasts. It was also close to the chest wall. They would have to remove at least half my breast to get clear margins… and that's no lumpectomy IMO.I removed the other one because I would have to do biopsies on the suspicious spot every year. I could have opted for a lumpectomy on that one but the BS recommended the BMX… and I was totally on board with that.
There are some women with multiple tumors as well.

Glad to see you back, MaryJ. And good luck on your upcoming appointments/procedures.
I opted for BMX instead of Lump/rads. My BS let me decide. It is what I felt comfortable with. I was aware that the survival stats are the same with either route but I couldn't bear going through it again if cancer was found yet again. When I gave my decision to my BS she did not try to talk me out of it. I also had AND at time of BMX and found that 3/17 nodes were positive. And considereing I was TN and grade 3.....well I was glad that the girls were gone. It is a very individual choice....and what is right for one is not at all good for another. As long as you are comfortable with YOUR choice that is all that matters.
