Hi, Ladies. Getting over jet lag and reading posts. Nice to hear from new Ladis. Sorry we have to meet this way but this is a very supportive group.
To Ruth, Julie ( sorry if i am forgetting anyone),
Most of us here have struggled with SE's but decide in the balance that its worth it. I would weather a whole lot not to deal w BC again and these drugs statistically are proven to work. Ive had joint pain and a few other SEs but as Sherry says, they do calm down after a while. Lots of exercise (well, until i broke two bones in my foot two weeks ago!) and omega3 really seem to help. And essentially i wouldnt call these SEs quality of life altering. Life is different in many ways post BC and having just passed one yr since dx (thank god) i have learned to try to roll w the punches and keep moving forward. Am 50 and achey, now on lupron, too, but still here to love my annoying teenagers and sweet husband. Thats my take on this. But it is an individual decision.
All the best,
Shari0 -
Sherry - canning in Texas in July - really? Girl, you made it past BC and now trying to kill yourself with heat? LOL.
OK- so I had a beer with dinner out with my husband... all the time thinking about what folks on this thread said about it increasing hot flashes... so I had three last night before bed, one that woke me up in bed, and two in the first half hour out of bed.... not really sure the beer tasted good enough to warrent that.... hm.

Paula - I have been wanting a tat for a while, just don't know what to get so I have procrastinated. I've never been in a parlor before. How do you get ideas for your tats? I'd love to see it when it's done.

Hi Pattti. I just did a google search and looked at lots of tat pics. Plus the parlor has tons of ideas also. After looking at several pics it will hit ya. Also if there is something you like or dont like the artist can do his or her twist on it. I fell in love with a pic and he did it just like the pic but added his touches to it. I loved it. Good luck with your search.

vhshea I live in an old house built in1882. We have central air but yes in the summer the kitchen gets hot because it has no exhaust vents so DH put me in a window A/C unit so I can be in the kitchen and be cool.
Shari how is the foot feeling?
0 -
Sherry, thanks for asking about my foot. It's better. Can't stand clunking around in this cast. Also has me kind of homebound which is making me feel a bit lonely and down. I sure can see how the smallest thing can snowball into a bigger problem. Thankfully this dumb cast will be off soon but I'll be more empathetic to the next person who is shut in due to something like this.
Thanks! Shari0 -
I came across this article this morning and I thought you all might find it interesting as well:
Tamoxifen Wards Off Breast Cancer's Return for More Than a Decade
It might be especially helpful to those who are on the fence about using this particular treatment.
Have a great day, ladies!

omgosh - I am in hotflash hell... they are waking me up, and I swear I am having like 10 a day... I need to keep thinking about the fact that the SEs with Tami taper a bit after 4- 6 weeks... ugh.

vhshea I sure the hotflashes get better. My got really bad and then poof went away. I am hoping yours does the same. Can't imagine staying like that.

I think they fade too! Although yesterday I indulged in three beers in the hot sun, and I was up about 15 times last night!

Thanks Paula - you diagnosis is very similar to mine. Did you have an oncotype done? Mine is 40, 5 years tamoxifen = 27%. Thank for the tat info!

Hi girls! I went back to work today! Yahoo, I was about ready to scream from bordom. I had to wait until I saw the PS Friday before I could go back. When you go from 50-60 hr work week to none, its hard to slow down and do nothing. I know before you think Im crazy I couldnt do anything on my week off so thats why I was so bored. Since I went into have my BMX that was the longest I have taken off in forever. Heck I one of the weird ones who go to work daily, but thats the way I was raised. Plus I loved what I did before BC, but know I am having to learn something new. I still am in the field that I know just not working in the trenches anymore. I'm having a hard time adjusting, but I will get there!
Patti I never had Oncotype done. I didnt even know what that was until after, but thats ok. I did do alot of looking around the www based on my info from my path report, so I feel ok with it. Good luck with the tat search.
June enjoy you weekend.
Shari I hope all goes well for you as you heal up!
Hugs to you all!!

Paula - Glad you were able to go back to work. I took off for just over a week when I had my lumpectomy and it just about drove me crazy. Two days after my surgery I did go into the office but I did not do anything. I live in the park I work in so all I had to do was walk across the street.
I never had the oncotype test done either and did not find out about it until much later. There is so much I found out on this website and learned just how much I was not told. This has been such a learning experience. Seems we have all made it through though.

Hey Tamoxibabes! Just checking in on you to see if you're behaving, which you clearly are not!
Jo - now we all know more about BC than we ever wanted to.
Paula - wish I had a job to go to! I'm a realtor, and there is nothing, nada, zippity-do-dah going on around here. I have the best condo on the market, and it's a steal but no one has even been to look at it! There are just no buyers out there. I'm going to have to find a different job, I think. Or maybe go back to school - I just don't know what to do.
I read where Dallas/Ft. Worth is going full steam ahead to break their 100+ temperature streak. I don't think I could take it if I was living there. How do you Texas tammy-gals do it? OMG, hot flashes and this heat? This has been a ridiculously hot summer! Drink up, everyone - people have been getting dehydrated and we've got enough problems!
0 -
HnS - I am in deep South Texas and we are not quite as hot as the Dallas/Fort Worth area. But how do we do it with hot flashes and heat? Lots of air conditioning and water. You just don't go out in the afternoon. I only work half days in the summer and living so close to the Mexican border we get out of the sun and go have a siesta (nap). LOL

Hi Heart n soul!!!!! of course we are not behaving what fun would that be???

Jo thats adorable ... you made me smile! thank you hugs!

Paula glad you got to go back to work
HNS-I had my house on the market for awhile and no lookers, finally decided to take it off and just hold onto it until the market gets better. I am in south central Texas and it is hot. Like Jo you just try not to get out in the afternoon. It helps to have lots of AC and water.
I will be glad when this week is over. Too busy at work trying to get ready for a yearly banquet on Thursday evening. I only have to do a few evening things thoughout the year and this is one of them.

Hey Sandee! Missed seeing you here. I had to laugh at the lawn full of bras image I got in my head. Can't wait to see the pic.

HNS its like that around here. The gal next to has had her house on the market for a year now and no sale. I feel for her because she started a new life and it would be nice if she could just be able to sell her house and move on.
Hi Sandee! Missed ya and glad you had blast. I too cant wait for the pics.
