Just info here. If you want a free subscription to CURE magazine all you have to do is go to their website curetoday.com and sign up for your free subscription. I found it at my MO's office as they always have copies laying around and decided to get my own. They have good articles. MY RO office did not have these and neither did my first MO, makes me wonder if they did not want me to be educated?

Sherry - Thanks for the info.

My RO had CURE...I loved it! Haven't seen it at my BS or my MO's office though. It's probably more an issue with the support staff maintaining things than it is with the doc's education.

Thanks Sherry
Heftylefty..and CML . I had ILC and it was tricky..I was diagnosed with IDC and when they did the masectomys they found that the ILC was right behind the IDC and it looked like one tumor but was actually 2 seperate ones with 2 different cancers. I was lucky also they found the IDC or who know looks like the ILC was "hiding"

I did go to the Cure website and filled out the information for a FREE subscription. I don't think I have seen this magazine. Will be looking forward to my first issue.

Heftlefty.. I know and the other scary thing was that when they did the oncotype test in the tumors they accidently sent out the IDC twice but it came back with 2 completley different oncotype scores one was a 14 and the other a 23.. two completly different catergories for the same tumor. The ILC was very low a 9 i believe... crazy stuff uh?...
going to go sign up for my subscription too thanks

Ok.So wait . . . . then what score did you go by to determine best treatment plan??? 0 -
Good morning ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow this thread is moving fast with all the newbies. LOL
Jo thanks for the chocolate strawberries. Tink had a hard time sharing but she gave in finally.
Seeing my ONC in September. Have a list of questions. One being is my bone density low because of chemo, enduced menopuase, Tamox or a combination. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say as he always talks about Tamox as it is the wonder drug and doesn't come with any major SE. Huh!

Heftylefty.. good question that was the tricky part. That led me to 2nd opinions and that lead me to my 2nd surgery which was a axillary node sissection. The first surgery was the bilat masect with DIEP recons and an sentinel node dissec. The at surgery node test was neg BUT the path showed 1 node with micromets . The 2nd surgery the axiallry showed all clear so more questions as my onc would say " hmmm what are we going to do with you".. well i was hoping you would have the answer would be my response
. The bottom line was no node involvenment with 2nd node dissection NO rads agreed on by both opinions. Chemo was the next question... I was in a " gray" area. So both MO agreed that the benefits didnot outweigh the risks . The tumor proved that tumors were not homogenoues and had different compents blah blah blah as they explained. When they said the benefits did not outweigh the risks and it was up to me that they were both comfortable with no chemo , i decided no chemo and moved on Tamoxifen. Sometimes i wonder if that was the right choice but for the most part I am comfortable with decision and have to be as I cany undo it! So here I am on Tamoxifen.. meeting wonderful new friends!

SAB- everyone is different. I started tamoxifen 3 days after I started rads because it was just before Christmas and the idea of starting something new without any support just about did me in ...also figured if I were to have side effects, it would happen in the first few weeks so what the heck...but doing one at a time is also fine. Do what works best for you.
Best advice I got here was to split the dose in half....10mgs in the am and 10mgs in the pm....stopped the hot flashes and turned them into occasional warm flushes,

Sandee - I will try that splitting the pill in half.. weird thing is that i have been taking the pill at about 10 am, then i have like seven - eight hot flashes before bed, then i wake with at least one in the middle of the night, and then have like two or three after the alarm at 630 before getting up a bit later.. I would think that by taking it at 10am I would not be so affected 18 hours later.. maybe splitting the dosage might help.

Sandee, that's a great idea (spitting the pill in half.)

Welcome SAB sorry you have to be here but we have lots of fun while being there for each other. I started my Tamox on the last day of Radiation. I jumped right in and did not hesitate. I was told that I would be tired from the tamox and the reason they make some wait is that radiation wipes you out and who know if your symptoms are related to the tiny white pill or from rads......I do know that Jo had problems with the pill and she did split the dose and it really helped her.....or maybe it was she took it with milk....crap, I forget...now that is the Tamox talking not me......
Back from vacation and celebrating my little mans birthday and it was good to be away, but it is always nicer coming home and sleeping in my own bed,.......love to you all and will catch up tomorrow......

June - You are right on both. I started taking Tamox in a split dose and when I got tired of doing that I decided to just take the whole thing at breakfast with a glass of milk. Both options worked for me but I don't split it anymore.
Glad you had a good vacation and now celebrating you little guy's birthday. You sure needed the break after all you have been through.

Hi ladies!
I AM doing BOTH...Started Tamox. on 7/1 and started rads on 7/21. I'm FINE. My onc. explained that the rads are local treatment and tamox.is systemic so the sooner I started w/it the better off. She told me there was no reason to wait. I have had no problems at all with it. A few hotflashes here and there but nothing intolerable. I'm going for 13/31 rad today and my energy level is fine.Good luck to all of you! Stay positive and kick a$$

JUne glad you are back from vacation. I'm sure the little mans celebration was wonderful. I have another busy week ahead of me. This time of year is crazy. I don't know how I made it through last year as all my testing started about now. Would get calls from a doctor and have to run somewhere else for another test. Somehow I managed to get my work done as well. At least this year is not as stressful.

HI girls ~ well had my follow up appointments today. Lung ct scan was good, same as last time no change. I have a tiny 1 mm nodule in my right lung ~ They will look at it again in 6 months. Then I saw my oncologist. She did a breast exam and blood work. She said I don't have to come back for 6 months. The tailbone pain they feel is arthritis and my shoulder too. Bone scan was all clear in June. So now I am just waiting to see my tumor markers are good and then a big woo HOO for 6 months !!!
June ~ glad you had a nice vacation, welcome back !
Smilie ~ welcome and I like your thinking. Stay positive and kick ass sounds good to me !!!

Alicia glad to hear the good news.......you seem to be doing a lot better these days as you had such a rough patch......
Thank you Tink and Sherry for the b-day wishes for my little man......we had a great time...
I sprung my Mom from the Nursing Home this morning and she is spending the day with me here at my house. She is having HUGE anxiety attacks (still mourning my Dad), so I hope with some distraction from my kids it will take her mind off of things for a few.....
Hope you are all having a wonderful day....

June - Such a wonderful and thoughtful daughter you are. I'm sure your mom is just glad to have a change of scenery and to be around loved ones. She is going to be just fine.

June, you sound like a wonderful daughter. Your father's passing is so recent. Must still be hard for all of you.
Alicia, we'll take all the good news we can get. You do sound much better. Hope we can do the woo hoo together.
I had my 'making lemons into lemonade' party/fundraiser last night. Raised 15,000 shekels (about $4300) for the brand spanking new Israel Breast Cancer Emergency Relief Fund! Thats a woo hoo, too! We can already give 4 needy women grants for non covered expenses. (idea was that really poor women just dx should be able to focus on getting well, not worry about rent, utilities etc) been working on this for mos and yesterday was the kick off. Im not usually so public or out there, or that charitable honestly, but doing this has been like therapy. 75 women! Decorated the backyard w lots of yellow and bowls of lemons. Served lemonade. Was fun. Something happy coming out of this yukky year...The other good thing is that i got my cast off!
Sherry, dont work too hard.
Take care, shari0
