bdavis, your hair looks fabulous, and your eyebrows do, too. That's about the amount of hair I have, mine's just a tad thinner.

Wow ladym, your hair is so straight and sleek and shiney!!! I'm over one year out from chemo and my hair is totally out of control curly. I dye mine brown as well, but I've been doing that for years, but the curls are sooooo tight. I've been wearing a headband and letting it go crazy like an Afro. I always had a secret longing to have an Afro. They seem so cool and easy, but mine is not easy. It's taking all of my efforts not to look like Ronald McDonald! I've been following the hair care instructions in The Curly Girl book by Lorraine Massey. The tips really help, but as my hair gets longer it seems to just get taller!!!
I'm trying to embrace my curls and my new look, but sometimes it's sortof hard. I look like my black standard poodle. Talk about people turning into their pets!!0 -
after the hospital stay and going topless out of necessity, I just don't have the energy to wear a wig etc anymore... so what you see above is what I am going into public with... It has been a bold move for me as well... I just don't care anymore what people think... I need ease being 2 weeks post BMX... I have naturally wavy hair and have tons of products to contol curls, so when/if the curls start, I hope to have a handle on it... I don't have enough hair for that.... yet.
And my brows are for sure there... as a blond, my brows aren't dark anyway, but they can be a bit wild right now... I think I may get them shape in a couple of weeks when I have more.

i havent been here in a while but you all look great!
I am a year PFC and still dealing with curly back poker straight top/front and lots of breakage and thin on top. I am getting back on the biotin might have to add nioxin again. the top of my hair is slow growing.
I am going in for highlights next week, the first time since my hair has come back in. I pray it won;t fry off my head.
TheDivineMrsM congrats on going topless...it is a bold move and scary at first.

SpecialK, I agree, they definitely resemble each other.
It doesn't bother me going topless around people I don't know, when I feel anonymous I'm more okay with it, like when I went to Presque Isle. I saw one woman at the hotel wearing a scarf and wondered why, but other than that, I didn't see anyone sporting a 'do like mine. I kinda checked out the beaches and places we went just out of curiosity since there's lots more people there than my little town.
It also almost doesn't bother me going wigless around those I know who know I had chemo. It's going out and running into someone that I know but didn't know I'd been treated for bc. I haven't had that experience yet, but I'm sure it's gonna happen when I get out there more, like heading to Walmart or visiting my brother in the hospital. I will just deal with it now and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm not sure how to make this photo smaller........I've tried messing with resizing it, but it always comes out so big on this forum.............I have to say, I feel wistful comparing this photo of myself with my avatar which was taken about 4 or 6 months before I was diagnosed with bc........

b davis- I am PFC 14 wks and my hair is about as long as your's. I am naturally blonde and my new hair is brown with light hairs(gray or blonde-can't tell) in it and it is getting very tiny curls. I'm going to dye it today!
I went to school today (i'm a teacher) and the computer tech told me he liked my new hair cut. "It made me look younger" he said. He had no idea I had a wig on. I wonder how often I'll get that.

carberry - trust me, you haven't seen a pic of me yet! All the pics I have seen so far people have WAY MORE hair than I have! Actually I am going tomorrow to have it shaved to 1/4 inch so it is all new hair. I have some of my old buzzed hair, maybe 20 strands, that are 3 inches long! You can see all of my scalp, and I mean all of it. Not many hairs per square inch. My head looks like a moldy hard-boiled egg. Seriously.

I actually had a dream the other night that I woke up in the morning and my hair was down to my waist. My DH says I am stressing the new baby hairs out because I keep looking at them so closely. Another complicating factor was that I started on an AI (Femara) as well and I know some feel that it inhibits hair growth. I am hoping that is not the case - I had a TAH/BSO ten years ago and I know I am not making very much estrogen, so not much to suppress. I am not having any SE's from it but I did just begin, so...

bdavis and Mrs M you look great! I am 5 months PFC and my hair was about 1.5 inches before I got it trimmed on Saturday. However, it is very curly and frizzy. I wash and moose it daily and can sort of stand it. The moose seems to do better than the gel for me.
I want to know what the best products are for curly frizzy chemo hair if anyone has tried multiple.

This is a fun forum. Being able to watch everyone's progress - I know it was really comforting to me when my hair was just getting started. Seems so unfair that we can lose it so fast, but it takes forever to come back (or at least seems to).

DivineMrsM- so wild, I am flying to Erie,Pa this weekend to meet friends and visit family that live south of there. Hope to spend a few hours at the beach, so I am missing you by a week, we could have been almost hairless twins at Presque Isle! (I went to college in Erie).

I cant wait to look like you ladies! I'm 4 weeks PFC and hair is just starting to fill in. Exciting news though - if I turn my head just the right way and look into a super powered magnifying mirror I can see my eyelashes poking out! Yippee! And my arm hair is growing too! Something is happening!

Yeah MamaV--I bought a high power magnifying mirror when my hair started to grow, used it 199 times per day for both my hair and lashes. Now I stay away as I have some scary hair growing on the side of my face.

You and me both, MamaV! Why is it my hair on my arms and legs seem back to normal, but I have about an eight of an inch of hair on my head. I am only 2 weeks PFC so it is early, but no eyelashes, no eyebrows, an eighth of an inch of hair on my head, and normal arm and leg hair.... Not Fair!
