I've told my mom it will look better with time, but I don't think she believes me. She is on the phone with my cousin who is sending a care package from florida, with herbals that are supposed to cure me. It's so hot here that I'm just wearing the surgical bra and pads. With my drains and post chemo hair, my husband has remarked that I look like a serial bomber O_o. My daughter on the other hand, told me I have moron hair (she's a 7 year old with speech issues, I think she meant mohawk
). To top it off Aunt Flo is starting, so I'm extra emotional. Oh yeah, two days ago, I ordered a mac for my husband's birthday (Aug 19), I went to check the order and I ordered the wrong computer. Darn brain! I called but it's already being shipped, they told me to call back on Tuesday to hopefully change it. If I can't I may just keep it because hubby just told me that he is taking Tuesday thru Friday off to "relax". I do have a pair of crocs I can gift him lol.
Ugh, sorry for the vent and whine. Although, now that I've written it out, it doesn't seem that bad. Have a good night everyone.

dizzyakira - I laughed when I read your post because I can so relate! I've so had days, weeks, even months like that! Hang in there, girl! xo
One of the things that I no longer have the patience for is the inevitable emails, texts, with 'the cure.' Ugh. It's prompted, I think, by a good desire but it's so frustrating. Wish they'd realize how many people offer us 'cures.' Grrrrr. We know! Vent away, vent away!
You too have a good night! [[[[[[[kim]]]]]]]

MBJ: Wishing you a speedy recovery from the boating incident! I agree, another vacation is in order to erase the pain if your last one! I hope you are feeling better soon.
Dizzyakira, hang in there. I chuckled at your daughter saying you have moron hair! Gotta find the funny in all this. Re: the cousin with "the cure," be cautious (with the herbs, not the cousin!). Some herbal "remedies" can cause allergic reactions and can also interact with Rxs you may be taking.
Annette: Still laughing (and envious!) that your doc told you to "fatten up" before FG! Love it!!
TinaT: 10 more days and counting for you! YAY!!

MBJ---------so sorry you have a boo boo on the schnozz. The can be very uncomfortable. L&H

Dawne-hope - you get a lot of "the cure" emails? I don't. I wonder why...

Lilah - My family, especially my cousin is the worst. Get so sick of it! Kind of implies that you did something 'wrong' in the first place. Heard a great quote years ago, "I will not should have myself." Kind of applies here ... "I should have done ________ to prevent BC." "I should not have done __________ and I wouldn't have gotten it." I am not going to should have myself! It is what it is ... I did everything 'right' and still got it so I'm going to drink some milk when I want some, eat some steak if i want to, drink a glass of red wine if I want to, have a chocolate bar with soy lecithin in it if I can't find organic. It never ends!
GRRRRR! I need a nap! Can you tell?

Awww...hugs Dawne!
I did go through that "should have" phase in the beginning... but now it's a more rare place for me to go. I've come to the realization that if my doctors can't tell me why I got BC then I'm not going to try to fill in the blank.
Fortunately my family wouldn't dare tell me what to do (or what I should have done) LOL.
And I'm sure your cousin's problem is that she (he?) is afraid they might get BC themselves, so they want to find fault in something you did... to make them feel better/more certain they won't get it. But the fact is there are no guarantees. Tons of women I know who have lived hard have not gotten it and tons I know who have lived pure HAVE. It's just random. Even when its genetic.

Hang on everybody - don't let the turkeys get you down!!!

Questions:
I am due for a revision on my right breast that has the LD flap in September and probably a bigger implant put in to equal the other one.
Where will the PS make the incision to change the implant?
Can she get rid of the fat blob under my arm from the LD muscle being threaded under there?
Think I can do it as day surgery?
Think I will have a drain? If I get stuck with a drain my PS makes all of her patients stay in hospital until the drain is out and keeps them on IV antibiotics as a preventative measure.
I would love to go in and come home the same day.
This can't possibly hurt as much compared to the original DMX with reconstruction using the LD flap?
Just me getting anxious.
I don't mind the surgery jut mind not being able to get on with my life.
Do you think the PS will make my nipples at the same time (I hope I hope)?
Surely I don't ask for much, do I?
Also, my left implant is migrating toward my armpit - can this be corrected? It seems firm and snug there with not extra skin so how did it move over?
Thanks ladies. All of you help me to maintain what little sanity I have left!!

sorry for the spelling errors! I should use the spellcheck.

@ MBJ: So sorry about your accident! I hope you are resting comfortably and recovering well!
@ Dizzyakira: Wow, you've been through a ton, poor girl. Try not to let your mom's comments get you down. Remember, they squish those implants up as small as they can to fit them in and then your pectoral muscles tense up around them. As the implants unfurl and your chest muscles relax, they will "fluff up!"
As for me, I'm one week post-exhange and I still haven't seen what mine look like! PS left me in a compression bra packed with gauze until my follow-up tomorrow and instructed me not to take it off, even to bathe. Ick. This is because I had a nipple-sharing procedure (part of my surviving left nipple was grafted to the right side) and it's very touch-and-go at first. The nipple graft is under a plastic cap packed with Bacitracin and I really don't want to disturb it and diminish the odds of it taking hold.
I'm becoming a master at the art of bra bathing, let me tell you, but I'm so excited for a real shower and apprehensively anxious to see what I've got going on under wraps. I have peeked down the front and felt around the outer edges a little bit, and so far so good. I definitely have a little cleavage and the texture is firm but breast-like. I'm not going to be huge, but I think I'm at least a solid B-cup, which is what I said I wanted.
Breast...oops, I mean BEST to all,

Hi ladies,
happy monday! My mom's comments don't bother me too much, at least she is here helping me with the kids. Although I'm now on a no beef, no shelfish diet, ugh, moms, what can you do...lol
Dawn, sorry about your cousin
. I go through the what ifs a lot, but not as frequent as the begining. I don't take anything my mom and cousin brings lol, I can't stand pills or herbal anything...too much for me to keep track of. Hmmm, it just dawned on me perhaps that is why they are banning me from seafood, which I absolutely love to eat???!!! Nah, I'm probably paranoid.
My daughter, niece and I had a good laugh at the moron hair too. She was mortified when I told her what the word meant.
Justagirl, I have no idea what to tell you
, I'm hoping someone here could give you some advice. But the surgery is not a bad as the BMX. I had drains but it came out today
Jade, after my drains came out, I think my implants look pretty good in clothes. It's exactly the size I want. I think it's a full A.
Cheers everyone, I think I'm going to take a nap.

Hi Ladies,
Back once more for 1 more exchange. I had saline implants in April 2010 and will replace with the gels Tuesday. The saline ones are pretty hard, but they did tell me the gels are a bit heavier. I hope I don't get back pain from the extra weight. May be a good idea for me to take off a few extra pounds after this.
The bi-laeral MX was tough in Jan, but I did great with the exchange and hoping to do just as well or better with this last one. My PS will also make some minor corrections with this exchange. Can't wait to be able to sleep on my stomach again.
I'll let you know how it goes and Good Luck to everyone this month doing exchanges.
Terri

Yeah Jade! Hope you're pleased with the "unveiling"! A nice warm shower is right near the top of the "hard to live without" list. Ahhhhhhh!
Keep us posted!

Just got back from seeing my PS and PA. They ordered about 5 different sets of implants in a variety of styles (Natrelle 15, 20, and 45) and volumes (450 to 700cc) for my exchange next week. It sounds like they'll be prepared for anything
. All's good!0 -
jade- sounds great- cant wait for unveiling:)
ibc- i don't think it is anywhere near as traumatic as the BMX....and my silconies are softening up nicely 4 months out
justa- I don't have any experience for what you are asking...but hang out someone will!
Tina- you are gonna be ready for anything! how cool is that>?>?! SO excited for you- we gotta lockon to each other while under on the 24th...mine is scheduled for 8am....0 -
I have an appointment with my PS Wednesday morning and I am still debating whether or not to have one more fill. I am up to 780 ccs now. My expander is 1000 ccs. I am just hoping for a C cup. In my previous life, I was always teased about being a sister to Dolly Parton. I am really getting used to the smaller girls.

Annette and Tina, how cool your surgeries are the same day! Whew who! Tina your PS sounds uber-prepared!

we gotta get through this renn so we can be there for you:)))))))) which will be sooner than you know. How ya feeling? Everything still healing well?

KY_Vickie: It's a strange ride, isn't it???? So glad you're happy with how things are looking and feeling so far. I guess it's one small consolation, being able to have some control over the reconstruction process.
My PS kept saying that if I had an expansion and felt I had gone too far they could easily pull the saline back off. I felt like you, not sure how much to fill, but when I got there I just knew. Hopefully, that will happen for you.
All the best!!!

Have been busy, but I do have gummies in me! Trail2 continue to go slow. I am starting to accept what I have. They are getting better with time. Saw PS's last week he showed and told me why I couldn't go with larger than 450. I do not have much to work with. If I want extra on the side will have to it with fat. I no longer have any limitations and do not have to wear a bra, although I have been, until the scars are gone I probably will. PS was fine with cleavage, the only way to get more is a smaller implant. It is amazing how we are all built so different. PS said he had to do alot of pocket work and I have lots of stitches - no wonder I have been in pain so long, said I will probably have pain for some time until healed. I have been doing warm (95 degree) water therapy for my neuropathy and I do look great in a swimsuit. I have decided I need to be happy that reconstruction is an option and my PS really did do a good job. Trail how are you doing? Slinky glad you are back, hello Annetek.

As much as I loved my TE's (could have used them as a weapon) I am finally starting to feel better about my Gummys. My exchange was easier, but once off the pain meds, I was in so much pain. It hurt to drive, especially turn the steering wheel or open heavy doors. I had exchange May 19th and I still have some pain. If you want to try something fun before losing your TE's, if you have a digital stud finder, have DH go back and forth slowly over the TE port. Hope Lilah is good.

GreyT -- you hope I'm good? Well, yes I am! Busy busy busy (which is GOOOOD - it's NORMAL!) LOL and I have to say it really does get easier ladies... healing happens. I'm a year and 3 months out now and really feel good and (if I say so myself) look good. Glad you are feeling better GreyT!

greytcruise - thanks for the hysterical idea to play with the stud finder! I hate TEs because of the chronic irritation sensation, but they are doing their job...

Annette, I am doing well. My incision healed up perfect after he removed the TE. I see him next week, he'll take out the stitches and then i can finally go swimming for the first time all year! Yahoo! I do still have a little fluid in what is left of the breast, which has not re-absorbed, so PS said he will remove it with a needle. I still have the odd stabbing pains and lately am having phantom pains in the TE-less breast. So weird!

Had my exchange yesterday from saline to silicone gels. I really hate anesthesia. It does not matter if I get a patch or anti-nausea medicines; I still throw up after waking up & on the ride home. I was pretty exhausted yesterday and slept all afternoon & night. I feel much better today.
I won't see how they look because I'm in an ace bandage for a week before I go back to PS. All in all, I'm so glad this was my last surgery. Good Luck with the rest of exchanges happening this month.

Terri,
Congrats on your exchange, sorry to hear about the nausea, but glad you are feeling better today.

ibcmets: Glad you're feeling better and congrats on LAST surgery!!! I hope your new implants are exactly to your liking. Keep us posted.
I've put in a request to see if I can get the same anesthesiologist for my exchange as I had for my BMX/TE placement - no nausea at all. I know any of the anesthesiologists on staff can give me whatever special "cocktail" he cooked up for me (I have problems with lots of drugs), but I figured it would be extra good luck if he could watch over me again this time. We'll see if my wish is granted...
