Paula - I also agree with Tink & June - you are not a downer - you are being you. If you are not feeling well, we understand, if you feel like partying we are there with you too. Looking at your profile line, you are not too far behind me and believe me I still have my days now and then.

good afternoon all, two thoughts for the day, some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug............song for the day by the Doobie Brothers........minute by minute, by minute by minute , I keep holding on, I keep holding on.......wokeup this morning having to have a normal bowel movement, second one in 3 weeks since surgery and yes i have been taking stool softner etc. based on that alone, today i.m the windshield.....its the little things in life right now that matter to me the most, yesterday woke up crying from very sad dream, slept like crap and was full of crap, what a difference a day can make, so for today im just gonna take it a minute at a time. i love you tube because all i have to do is type in the title of a song and the song always appears, so after this post im going to play minute by minute by the doobies and have that song in my heart, just for today. ps...day 2 for tamoxifen yaaaaaaa

I just came back from a family cookout and it was great, love seeing everyone and now that my kids got older it just keeps getting easier and easier and I can socialize and not chase them every two minutes.....

I just got back from see "The Help" was a great movie. I read the book about 3 years ago and it was great as well. Then dinner with my mom. Think she needed a night out.
June glad you had fun with the fam. All of my kids will be here next weekend. they live all over and this will be the first time in a very long time that we have had everyone together in a really long time.

June - Have had the Nook a week now and just love it. Went to Barnes & Noble last night to get a cover for it. I was having some problems logging into my account and had someone at the store get through the problems. I was having problems logging into my account and discovered after so many failed attempts you get locked out of your acct. We had to take it back to factory settings and start over again. The guy at the store also took is and downloaded the latest updates. That was so nice of him.

tink I planted green beans, blackeyed peas, broccoli, mustard greens, turnip greens and collared greens, carrots, radishes and a spring mix lettuce mixture. Have never done a fall garden before so I will have to see what grows well. Oh I also planted eggplant and tomatoes. My spring tomatoes where to die for so I hope I get some really good fall tomatoes.

paula- I get it...I actually forgot to tell the folks at work in June that I am cancer-free...i got the news, had a great sigh of relief and carried on and here they were worried sick...they asked me about it on Friday at work...said they had been afraid to ask and were waiting for me to say....good lord!!! Boy did I feel selfish!....but like you, I have done my best not to talk about it in anything other than clinical germs...why tell these gals that I am terrified but prepared to do it again if and when I have to...the alternative to not is even worse....but yes..here, you can let it out, and we ar ehere to listen and understand. thank goodness. What a gift!

I had a great day yesterday. A friend turned fifty and decided what she wanted for her bday was to take seven friends to a spa for the day! Whoa! I've never done that! Heaven! Sat around the pool, ate, and got an hour long massage. Had a weird moment there where I had to explain to the masseuse (only second time in my life that I've had a massage, so I guess I wasn't so prepared) that no, I want taking my bra off for nothing. I know there are women who can parade around bravely with their one breast and scar on the other side but I'm not one of them, or at least not there yet. But she was cool one I told her that I didnt care if she got massage oil all over the bra, and wow, did it feel good. Lots of tension, out the window...recommend it!
I know there are other fora for this but you guys are like friends now and I'd like your opinions. Went to the gyno-onc on Thursday and saw a different member of the team. He feels strongly that I should consider getting my ovaries removed. Now I am on monthly luporon shots, which are a chemical solution rather than a surgical one but both have the same effect of shutting down the ovaries. Without this my ovaries go into overdrive and respond to tami by pumping out gallons of extra estrogen and my E2 levels go sky high. Can't have that so I have to do one or the other. Dr. #1 felt I should do the shots as long as possible (two year limit, they don't want you on them longer than that, not sure why) to avoid surgery and also maybe I'll be in menopause by then (I'm 50.) some research says it's good to hang onto your ovaries even into old age to get some residual health benefits, heart, bone, etc. Dr. #2 said I should do the surgery as I may do the shots for two years, still not be in menopause, and then still need the surgery. Why not just do the surgery now? These shots aren't pleasant tho I'm not having any terrible SEs from them. But they are very strong hormones and I kinda think maybe #2 has a point. There's the added complication that I had an abdominal hysterectomy (kept those ovaries) in 2008 and there may be scar tissue which would make the operation more complicated. The two docs are gonna talk, but how the hell am I supposed to make this decision? Maybe I will go to medical school (NOT.) only silver lining is that maybe I can combine surgery with my reconstruction. Get rid of one body part and put back another! oy.

Shari - Glad to see you back here again. Sounds like you had a wonderful day at the spa with the gals. I have had 2 massages in my life and enjoyed both of them.
I would get another opinion on the ovary removal. I do agree with you and would go ahead and get it done now. It doesn't make much sense to do the shots for 2 years and then find out you still need surgery. It would be good if you could combine the 2 surgeries and have one recovery period. I think the ultimate decision should be yours. Let us know what happens.

Shari what a tough decision. I think another opinion would be good. When I had my hysterectomy I had to make a similar decision. I could try the ablation but they could not guarantee that it would help and then I would have to have my uterus removed anyway so I decided to skip the ablation and just take it out. But these are all such personal decision. Will be thinking about you and keep us posted. I do like the idea of having two surgies in one. Seems it would be easier.

Shari- i can't hel you with this one as I have gone into menopause early (just got the results a week ago that I am offiially menopausal)...two sides of it right? If you can do the meds and it works for you and you do not have to have the ovaries removed and go through more surgery, phew! But if you are going through surgery anyhow for reconsruction and they can do it at the same time and one can help the other...well....fewer meds in the body can't be a bad thing either. I would go for an alternative opinion as well so you can get all the information and then go to a beach somewhere , sit by the water and weigh the pros and cons.
