June - I have been here, mostly just reading post and occasionally posting.

Linda - hang in there.  SEs do seem to lessen with time.  My worst one now is insomnia and I take Ambien.  Melatonin didn't do the trick for me.  It is a vicious cycle because if I try to sleep with out it I get worried I won't sleep and then don't.  Hot flashes aren't too bad.  Vitamin E seems to help with those.  I take 1000 mg.

Well my house is quiet again the last of the family left yesterday and I went to bed early and slept late.  Did laundry all day and helped DH a little in his office.  Back to work tomorrow but boss is gone so it will be quiet and only two days and a long weekend. woohoo

    Linda keep us posted.

Good Thursday Morning my Tami girls.  Tonite my boys leave until Tuesday!!  I will miss them but am looking forward to some Paula time.  Im almost tempted to take tomorrow off, but thats still in the air.  Im a bad girl and have a hard time missing work.  Dont ask me why but Im one of the weird ones who go to work everyday.  Heck I remember waking up from my BMX and thinking OMG its Wednesday and I have to be back at work, how on earth am I going to do this.  I have a very physical job.  After a few days my brain finally kicked in and duh you have 6 weeks off Paula, lol.

Im also excited for Friday!  I get new ink again.  I need to take a picture of my fairy that I got a few weeks ago so you gals can see it.  I know my mom is going to be so thrilled, lol.  Hey at my age I still have to shock her somehow.

My dry skin is calming down abit.  Its so nice not feeling like I'm an alligator.  I keep lotioned up.  I think its the soap that I have been using.  I got a gift basket at Christmas time and used the products and now I know that it just wasnt a good soap to use.

    Have a great day all!

Hi Tami girls!! i wandered over here to see if anyone has any suggestions on the hot flash moment. Nice to see so many familiar faces!! Been on Tami since late April.

My MO last week suggested the vitamen E, but 400mg am and 400mg pm. That and switching up the am or pm of when I take Tami. I had done am so now pm. Initially I had taken it at night, then switched to am per my LAST MO visit. Maybe I just need to switch every 3 months. . .

Meanwhile, I have tried what seems like everything to lessen them. Even cut back my chocolate intake. Big sigh. That was hard!!!

jo funny you said the calgon moment as I took a bubble bath to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Ok ladies I have posted this on a few other threads but since some of us have complained about dry skin I wanted to share my experience with organic cocount oil.   Anyway my DS and DIL were visiting from Seattle.  It has been two years since we have seen them.  My DIL commented on how great my skin was looking and wanted to know what I had been doing.  It is the coconut oil.  I started using it on my face around January and I knew that it was helping me but did not realize how much.  It comes in a solid but melts in the palm of your hands.  You can also cook with it and it is one of the good fats. I have started using it on my legs as well.  Lot's of sun damage from when I was a kid and my upper thights look like alligator skin so I figure if it made my face look so darn good I'm gonna start using it on other parts of my body as well.  I put it on lightly and it soaks in.

Sherry that is awesome, I wish I could try some but I break out from everything and can only use Dove products.  Is it greasy at all?  I think I could use it on the rest of my body, so I am willing to give it a try.  Where can I purchase it?

Hope you are all having a lovely day!!  Kiss kiss!!

I get coconut oil at the health food store or Whole Foods and trader joes carries it.  Buy the organic cold pressed and it will have a light coconut smell that fades very quickly.  You just need a little and rub into your hands (it will melt) and apply over whatever body part you want to use it on.  It is greasy but soakes in very quickly so you only need a little. If you put it on lightly it is not all the greasy and like I said it soaks in.  And you can use it in your hair as well.  I have not done that but have talked to others that have.  It is strange because even though it is an oil my face does not break out from it.

I am a picky one when it comes to smells and Avon quit selling the moisturiser that I always use, so I had to stock up so Im not a good help there.  I do use gold bond because it has low oder.  At first it didnt seem like it was working but now Im seeing an improvement.

Thanks for the tip Sherry, I'll check it out!

My physical therapist (that I'm seeing after my DIEP reconstruction in June) uses Coconut Oil and it is exactly as you say Sherryc. I thought I would leave my appt smelling like a coconut (I return to work after our sessions) but the smell doesn't last at all. She said she uses because her clients have requested it. Less people are allergic to it also compared to other lotions and creams.

For the last few weeks I've been having some balance problems.  Finally got in to my Dr--he's been on vacation.  I had suspected neuropathy in my hands and feet and he confirmed it.  The neuopathy in my feet extends to my knees, I have no reflex reaction in the knees any more.  Dr. said the balance problems are due to the neuropathy which could be either tamoxifen or age related--but the neuropathy started soon after starting tammi.  And another gift of BC.

HI everyone I have skimmed many, many pages from my absence.

Linda... so sorry to hear of your recurrance. :(  What is the course of action to be.

I know those of you on FB know, but those that are not.  I am hopping on one foot.  I broke my leg, well more like shattered my tibia in a fall down my porch steps.  (fell onto hard bluestone)  I was watering the flowers at about 8:30 at night on my porch and missed a step I guess and came a tumbling down.  I needed to have surgery to put a plate in and several pins.  I am now in a cast for 6 weeks.  (well it comes off for a few mins in 2 weeks to take stiches out from surgery).  Then goes back on.  I cannot bear weight on my foot for 6 weeks.  And it is my driving foot.  So I am stuck home.  And with the upper body not good from double mast, and several lymph nodes on each side removed I am not so steady on crutches either.  So this is a very trying time for me.  I can do basically nothing around the house and it is killing me.  I watch tv most of the day and then get myself to the porch and read a bit.  At least I have the kids home for a few more days then they start school next Wednesday.  I will really be doomed home alone.  I am thinking it of a diet plan because I can't get up and get to food !!  OH MY gotta laugh or I will cry.  (which I do almost daily)

So big hugs to all my tami friends.  I have missed you all ~  and hope you are all doing well and ready to celebrate the last weekend of summer.

    Alicia

Just Laura-my other DIL came this past weekend and she is pregnant with twins.  She went to a spa to have a massage and the therapist told her to use coconut oil to keep down the stretch marks.  Of course my DIL paid way to much for it at the spa.  So I sent her home with some from my stash.

Alicia-oh now I can't believe you broke your leg.  Wish I was there to help you out.  I can only image how miserable you are.

Paula glad you could be there for the GF and that she knew she could come to you for support.

SAndee glad to here from you.  You have been mighty busy latley with traveling and then off again to Florida.  Hope you have a great time there.
