Hope everyone is doing well. I am hoping to be at the 1/2 way point with this darn cast. I am so depressed. Thankfully for my sectional couch on my front porch. I hop out there and read for hours each day. Rain or shine ! Hubby is going to Atlantic city for golf this weekend, thankfully my daughter drives if we need anything. I of course would never go and leave him like this. But that's men for you. I had a SCARE thought I had a recurrance over the weekend. Felt a small bb type lump about the size of a pencil tip in my grafted nipple area on the cancer breast. They took me in as soon as I called yesterday and are 99.9 it is a stitch trying to come out or under the skin. They are not worried at all and said to just keep an eye on it. So I am doing just that not worrying about it !

PINKTOBER is almost upon us. Yuck ~

Chabba, I had to have MRI last week after there was some "questionable finding" in the brain or skull on my PET scan.  The process was not bad - just loud, had an IV injection of contrast but that was not painful, just cold.  Turned out just fine - nothing in the brain or skull.  OK, so my DH now laughs about the "black hole" that I have....   Anyway, hope you can get a little rest, take some deep breaths, nothing you can change right now, so try to enjoy a few moments here and there.... remember the 24-hour rule.  I just did a little yoga-breathing during the MRI, then pretended I was at a Stomp concert and tried to figure out the rhythm of the machine sounds.  It was a chance to lie down for about a half an hour or so, off my feet and away from my computer. 

Greetings to all you other ladies... I am a little tired and a little down tonight, sort of got sucker-punched with anxiety about the impending loss of both my boobs in a few weeks.  So I am taking a little rest, watching TV tonight, and praying something inspriational happens between tonight and tomorrow morning when I am supposed to teach a class on pain evaluation and assessment to my pharmacy students.  You would think that would be an easy one, with all we've gone through, but I would like to be a little organized and not wander all over the place.... 

Alicia, my total sympathies for you - forced inactivity makes me absolutely crazy!  Hang in there, I am sending lots of positive energy your way!

Has anyone developed severe burning chapped lips while on Tamoxifen.  I don't have chapped lips in the winter and I don't lick my lips.  I have used the same lipstick for several years.  So, I can't igure out what's making my lips burn and slightly swell.  Just checking to see if other Tamoxifen users had this problem and if so what did they use to reverse the problem.  Thanks!

Alicia hugs, wish I was closer too so I could hop on the sectional with you and keep you company. Yes men do think so differently then us thats for sure.

I am going to my PS tomorrow and getting my tattoo. I called today to make sure they would numb me. Although I am numb across my chest I have random areas on my left breast that are actually very sensitive to touch... so no lidocaine no tattoo... lol... my first tattoo// we will see how it goes.

June - If the yeast infection is where I think it is, I would call the Doc ASAP.  I went through that a couple of years ago and I was given an antibiotic that is given in 2 doses.  It works great.  I know how miserable you must be so go get it taken care of right away.

June.. I agree call your doc why suffer any more than needed! feel better. The tattoo is an aerola tattoo part of the reconstruction process. Wierd though that even though I am numb it burns a bit. They numbed me anyway as I have a few areas that are very sensitive even to touch but all in all wasnt bad. Go back in 5 weeks and PS checks it out again and hopefully we will take it from there.

 Yea Tink on the tats.  You will soon be on to your skull and crossbone tatoo, lol!  Thats what I always tell my mom when she asks what I am tatooing now.

Hi Tamoxifen veterans - hoping you can help me. - I just started Tamo on Sunday.  Has anyone get any little headaches or weirdness with your eyes after starting.  I can't say it's a vision issue, more like my eyes feel well...weird, almost like they are a slightly different shape and don't fit right anymore.  no...no other drugs but Tamo .  Of course I go straight to worrying about brain mets, but hoping someone else might have had a similar SE.  thx!

BCISNOFUN.. yes i get that i call it a strange feeling like they are kinda out of focus yet i can see.. i cant really describe it it just feels wierd... one of the most nnoying se i have experienced.. welcome and good luck to you we are hear for whatever you need!!!!

That is too exciting:) congratulations! ...still wanting to get my tattoo to celebrate one year cancer free but am bruising too easily on these heart drugs so will likely have to put my plan off for awhile until things calm down...I did really well on vacation...no new bruises but I must have walked into something early this am when I got up to use the bathroom as I have a doozy on my hip ....lovely shade of 'aubergine'. congrats again Tink!

JUne I have had two yeast infections since being on tammi. I am hoping for a better winter.

Tink so glad you got your tatoo's today. One more thing to cross off that reconstruction list.

Went for my PS appt today. I was sure I had gained at least 5 lbs since my last visit 3 months ago, but no I gained 1 freeeking pound. He said at this rate I could have my MX with reconstruction in 2020. I have been snacking like crazy at work but he said I need to drink milk shakes every night so when I left his office I went straight for the milk shake. Had a yoga class tonight and went to eat afterwards and really pigged out. I was really hoping that I could keep my nipples when I have the MX and last time we talked about it and he was not up on the idea but acting like he might consider letting me keep them. Well today he said no. So Tink I will be following you with the tattoos. He said my areola and nipple are too damaged from rads and he does not think they will survive even if he tried to save them and thinks it best to not try. He said the positive thing today is if I get a recurrence before I have gained enough weight to have two breast there is enough for one. Meaning if I had to have a quick MX I can at least have the one reconstructed. So I'll keep working on the weight.

Also went to the Endocrinologist about my testosterone. I did not realize all the different hormones our bodies produce. He did lots of blood work checking my adrenal glands and my pituitary gland. I go back in two weeks to find out what is going on. But he explain my higher sex drive. Because I told him before tammi in was really low and had been for awhile and with low testosterone that makes since but since being on tammi it has gone really high. He said tammi being an estrogen blocker that kinda tricks your body into thinking other things. He said that pre menopausal women that have higher testosterone it tricks the body into thinking it is lower and that is why the sex drive goes down. He said in my case I am the opposite and that is why mine has gone up.

Sorry for the diappointing new today Sherryc. Seems we are always one step forward and two back in this journey we are all on. Hang in there, the best is yet to come.

Tammi has been treating me pretty well lately. Think I've finally gotten out of the insomnia phase and haven't had any knee pain for about 2 wks, hot flashes are down to once a day and not too bad. All and all and so far things have gone pretty well.
