Hey all back from dinner with friends.  Stuffed myself and then came home and ate a milk shake.  Now I am really stuffed.  I guess I will just be miserable for the next few months while I'm trying to gain weight.  I figure I have to gain some weight in the next three months or my PS might give up hope on me.

Peg glad your brothers sugery went well.  Probably is a good idea to get away after canning jalapeno's.  Have fun in Vegas.

SAndee glad you got back to your dancing.  I'm sure it felt good to move again.

Peg - Glad your brother's surgery went well.   I have a Nook and just love it for reading.  It is small enough to fit in my purse so it goes with me just about every where I go.

Sherry - Soundsl like you had a good time at dinner.  Keep drinking those shakes and put that weight on.  If only that was my problem - I still want to give you 8 lbs.  When I went to see my primary doctor yesterday, that was the first thing he noticed in my chart.  Sheesh!

Paula dinner was great.  We go out almost every Friday night with this couple.  Had a yummy pasta dish with beef and asparagus.

Sherry - We go out every Saturday night with a couple here in the park.  We pick a different place to go each week.  What fun we have.

pickled jalapenos sound terrific peg119! probably is a good plan to get away for a bit while you house cools down:)

Wish you could all be there for the dance class...talk about freeing! Wasn't inspired to get into the centre to dance at the end this week but it just felt great to get the heart pumping hard!!!

Sherry- if only we could all contribute a pound or two to your cause....it's always something, hmm? Milkshakes are definitely one way to get there!

Hi ladies-haven't been on this thread in a bit but I had a question for you all. I have been on Tamoxifen for a little over a year and my periods have been pretty normal. Sometimes they would be a little late or a little early. However this month it is two weeks late. I'm wondering if I won't get it. Did those of you who stopped getting it have it stop right away or was it a gradual thing and is it sporadic? Just trying to get an idea of what is going on.

Sweetie - I didn't get mine for two months post rads ... I told my Onc & she blamed the Tamoxifen and said that some women don't get it all ... that was two months ago ... and I've had it three times since & am PMS'ing now... making up for lost time I suppose.

Has anybody noticed that the Tamoxifen makes weight loss difficult/impossible?  I'm exercising strenously and eating healthy for four months since I started taking it post rads and haven't lost anything.  I know that it has caused my cholesterol levels to go off the charts ... thus the running / salad life...

tamoxifen made it very difficult for me to lose any weight at all, despite lots of exercise and portion control. It made my periods very light and very irregular.

tinkertude-I'm premenapausal too. Seems like mine is the same. We'll how the next few months go and if this is just a fluke.

Bluelily-I excerise every day for an hour and try to watch what I eat. I have always managed to maintain my weight but it  does seem like the Taxomifen is making it harder. It seems to me like it wants to settle more in the middle belly/back fat area.  Part of it is due to my age too-46. I read that after 40 it becames harder for women to maintain their weight because we are heading toward menapause. So couple that with the Tamoxifen and there you go.

I wish these hot flashes would go away for good.  They go away and then come back.  I have been having them for about a week now and last night woke up 6 times and then was having one when I was trying to put my makeup on for work.  Hard to do when your face is sweating. Can't wait to find out my blood results to see what is going on with my testosterone.  I think these are more form that than the tammi or maybe a combo of the two but gee I hate hot flashes.

    Hi all,

Sorry I'm pretty bad about posting these days. Seems when I get on the computer at he end of the day my mind starts to wonder and it ends up on Bravo tv watching some trashy reality show.

Have my onc this Wednesday. Will discuss fractured ribs, leg pains, lung, ect ect

Finished the Susan G Komen 5K yesterday and am excited to say my team raised over $4500 and the money is still coming in. What an experience to be surrounded by thousands of survivors, supporter, volunteers all fighting for a common cause. It was the most humbling experience.

I'm glad to say my hot flashes have cooled down, so to speak but my weight gain is depressing. My onc says it isn't the tamox or early menopause. So I ask "what the hell is it"?

Reading the thread, my period started back up again in August.  Is this a good thing or should I be looking at having my overies out. I guess something else to discuss.

    Hugs all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Jules

Well my hotflashes were better last night or I was so dang tired I sleep through them.  I did have two that woke me up but that is better than the 6 I had the night before.  I might have slept through the small ones who knows but at least I did sleep much better last night.

momoftwo:  totally there with you ... I saw my BS yesterday and discussed my anxiety.  They tell me its totally normal and some women have the anxiety for the first couple of years before they start to find a new normal.  Estrogen positive bc requires estrogen to feed it... tamoxifen is a blocker... it stops the food source so to speak ... however I don't believe its failsafe & doesn't affect non estrogen fed bc.  Due diligence is up to us.

swanseagirl:  Congrats!!!!! You are an inspiration!  I'm hoping to complete the R4C in October ... should probably log off and go running!   I'm 47 and we have similar dx.  My periods started up again as well ... and I, too, and wondering about the ooph.  My onc said that it's my only option regarding the SE of my cholesterol increase.  I'm running 3 miles everyday and struggling to maintain my weight.  I really don't believe its menopause.  My mother is still a size 2 and didn't start menopause until her mid50's.  I'm blaming tamoxifen.  I'm just not prepared for more surgery any time soon.

By the way, my hot flashes have subsided ... still have one occasionally, but I've noticed it's usually when I'm feeling emotional.  I'm not sleeping with the fan anymore ...

Good afternoon ladies hope everyone is having a great day!

Jules I am so proud of you for competing and raising so much money, FANTASTIC!!!!

Still in so much pain and I am so thinking this is not related to stones at all and now wondering what the heck it could be.  I have an ultra sound scheduled for tomorrow. and I see my OBGYN next Monday.  I just hate the fact that my urine culture came back negative and she has no clue what it is.  I started out thinking it was stones then treated myself for yeast infection then got a pill for yeast then got put on an antibiotic for UTI and now I am on a pill that numbs down below so the pain is more bearable.....WTH I say!  Nothing and I mean nothing seems to be working.  It almost makes me think is this Tamox related?  Anyway I try not to whine, but so tired of trying to be healthy to NOT be healthy!!!

Haven't posted in a while, but I have been reading all your posts.  Just wanted to come on and tell you all about a valuable lesson I learned a few weeks ago...

I got bitten by one of my dogs...by accident...two of them were fighting and I went to break it up and in the process, my arm got in the way of their teeth and I got a little bite on my left arm.  I didn't think too much of it at the time.  I cleaned it, put peroxide on it and kept it covered.  It was starting to get better and heal over, so I figured that was the end of it.  Well, four days after the bite, I woke up to lots of pain in my arm.  I looked at the bite and it was all red and swollen and there was a red line extending from the bite to my mid forearm.  As the day went on, the pain continued and the red line continued to extend up my arm.  So I figured I better go to the ER (I was up at my place in New Hampshire at the time, so couldn't go to my primary doc).  By the time I got to the ER, the red line was all the way up to my armpitSurprised  As soon as they saw it, they said it was infected and that they were going to put me on IV antibiotics right away.  I spent about 3 hours in the ER on the IV and they had me come back the next day for another round of the IV.  Plus they gave me a prescription for an oral antibiotic.  The diagnosis was cellucitis and lymphanitis (not sure of the spelling!) and they believe the reason is that this is the side I had the radiation on.  Even a year and a half later, the lymphatic system is compromised on that side and that is more than likely why it got so bad.  I know when I was going through radiation they told me to be careful of any wounds I got on that side, but it never clicked in my head when I got the bite that it was the same side.  It's all healed now, but the antibiotics wreaked havoc with my tummy and now I think I may be getting a bleepity-bleep yeast infection from themYell.  From now on I will be much more careful.  I guess BC always haunts you one way or another Frown

Just wanted to come on and share my experience and hopefully, for you ladies who have had radiation, you can keep this in mind if you ever get a boo-boo on your radiated side and be more careful than I was Laughing

Bluelilly, good luck in Oct.  I'm not a runner but I'm making it a goal to run the 5K next year.  Tamox has to be playing a role in our weight gain.

Jo there's a Susan G Komen walk in Dallas in Oct.  Seattle had the 3 day walk which I am no where near attempting.  I had to go to Portland, OR, spend the night, have a nice dinner then a few drinks. Oh the sacrifices I make. LOL

June, thanks, and thanks for the support in sooooo many ways.

    Sherry thanks too.

Well on that note, the sun is out, which is rare this time of year and I'm lacing up my shoes and walking around the state capitol lake.

See you all later for drinks and dessert at Jo's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
