Robo....I too applaud your attitude and spirit. You may have your melt-downs at some unexpected turn, but that will be then....this is now and you got it going on in a major way.
Jenn -- do some of those lemony things. Hope you work right out of the queasies really quick. So glad you only have four more. In fact, here's what I always say:
If life hands you lemons just eat chocolate

and then make lemonade.
Hope you all had an ok day today and that tomorrow is just as good if not better. Have a restful, peaceful evening.
Hugs, Jackie

Maria....let's shoot for Friday, for getting together, will that work again on your end? If I feel like crap still we'll do less walking and more sitting and talking? Hopefully it's just the combo of all the different drugs in my blood stream tonight....
Rita...hang in there tomorrow. Big hugs to you and your family!!!0 -
Jenn - sounds great! I am available. If you don't feel great...sitting and talking works for me! Can't wait!
Oh and I was always told if life gives you lemons, make lemoncello (I am Italian.....). If you don't know what it is, it is a strong lemon flavored vodka type drink. I believe it has medicinal qualities - LOL!

I always say "when life gives you lemons....trade em for limes and make margaritas!". LOL.

Lemoncello is delish!!!! And strong....WOW!!!
we had it at Rosebud Trattoria downtown last year. 0 -
Rita, we eastern gals would love to have you meet us in Champaign. Mahomet's right, gotta get this last drain out first. Woke up a little pissy about it. I meet w/ps today, but I think I'm still getting too much fluid to remove it.
robo, you have such a great outlook on things! I'm gonna be travelling on my journey behind you and I can only hope to be as fabulous. You all are such an inspiration!
madismom- st jude always keeps baskets of hard, sour candy around for chemo kids. the kids say that anything sour is best, and the hard candy they can suck on, so it lasts longer. Hope this helps!

I make pound cake with lemoncello. A friend gave me a bottle three years ago and I still have it......found a pound cake recipe to try and use it up. Way too sweet and strong for me to drink
Have a good one!

Hi, I'm an Illinois lady, too. I live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. I found out my first chemo is Tuesday. I had a Muga heart scan today (easy) and a wig fitting. Port placement is Monday. I had lumpectomy and SNB on Aug. 26. I just want to get this 12-week course of chemo over. Then it will be rads and Herceptin every 3 weeks for a year. Then Tamoxifen, of course. The things you learn in 6 weeks!!!0

Hi NancyJill! Welcome to our site. We are a bunch of ornery, supportive women. I hope you find comfort here. And yes, it's truly like a crash course in medicine. You'll find a lot of the women here are from the Chicago area.

Hi Nancyjill, glad you found us!!!
I'm in the western burbs also! And also in the thick of chemo, I had tx2 of 6 yesterday downtown. Welcome to the IL ladies....everyone's wonderful!!!! 0 -
NancyJill - Hello and welcome. I live downtown - familiar with the western suburbs.

Nancy Jill-- big warm welcome to our little corner of BCO.Org. I have been hanging around here since 2007 because the people are wonderful, the care and concern very genuine, and the understanding is fantastic. I'm so glad you found us.

Morning! Cool this am but that's ok...sleeping has been great tho.
Connie....Happy Birthday! Hope it's wonderful!
Robo...Iove your attitude! As we always say around here...Illinois girls are TOUGH!
NancyJill....welcome to the club no one wanted to join but hopefully you have found in us a soft place to land. I too am in the W suburbs....went to Delnor for treatment. Yes...crash course indeed! I did Herceptin as well and 11/20 will reach the 5 year mark....knock on wood! Say a big THANK YOU as they start your Herceptin infusion...it is a wonder drug for us Her2+ gals! If u need anything please PM me anytime!
Off to start my busy day.....Happy Thursday all!
Oops....forgot and can't remember who asked...when starting Arimidex try also taking magnesium 500mg daily...I got this tip from bco and I tried it as I was at the point where I could no longer get down the stairs in the morning. After 5 days I was much improved! I did stop and start mag just to see and the pain came back after a few days. Told my onc about it and he tried it with 10 pts and 8 saw much improvement in joint/muscle pain so now he has added that to the list of supplements along with calcium and vit D3. Might want to consider this....don't take anymore than 500mg tho! And check with ur doc first too. And get the coated tablet...much easier to swallow. Just a thought for you tho.....not medical advice! Se's do get better tho....even without the mag.0 -
Wendyk13 thanks for the tip about the Manesium. I propably won't start this till after my nipple recon (oct 6th) but excited I might get a bit less stiff in the legs. BTW It' really nice to see someone pass the 5 year mark. Especially nice to see a triple positive. I think you're the first triple positive I've seen pass the 5 year mark.
Happy Birthday Connie

Rats....I lost part of your cake Connie, but there are plenty of calories in what's left.
Can't recall if you gave the weather report Wendy, but it is trying hard to sprinkle here. Hope we don't get anything. It is however; going to stay cool which we will just have to live with.
Cymbalta...the only thing I know about it is that of the two people I've known that used it, they complained bitterly of the se's. Sounds to me like something that may need close supervision to adjust dosage. There again.....we hear of ALL the se's now thru t.v. ads for just about everything. They could have been highly suggestive people too....
JMHO, as I get everything thru the V.A. and they tend to use much older drugs with a long, long proved track record. I never used anything like Cymbalta, but you could ask for an older drug if you wished. I switched over to the V.A. when our regular medical insurance went by the way-side and found that what they used gave me much more control and better result on my blood pressure issues. Just an idea for you though.
Hope you are all looking forward to a fantastic day. See you later.
Hugs, Jackie
