Zap I can't go either. That's my post-op nipple surgery appointment. I'm not sure if they will even let me drive. I know they won't let me drive to the appointment.
But it looks like the holiday party is going to be a big event again. I can't wait. Last year I had no hair but long eyelashes. This year I'lll have hair but the eyelashes aren't looking so go

Lago, what I recall is a gorgeous young woman with a fabulous figure and beautiful cheekbones that set off wonderful eyes. DH and I are going to Devon today to shop and look about. I will look for that restaurant you talk about. He loves to cook and wants some ingredients. He is actually prepping a Moroccan dish for tonight as I write. It is nice but it also is a challenge in that good foods translates to eating and I really need to get a hold on that. Maybe I can find a HUGE sari on Devon to drape about my body. Or maybe, just maybe, I could look within myself for some will power
Jackie, the Botanic Gardens had a Hawaiian festival of sorts yesterday. I had the joy of listening to a female storyteller who taught us a bit about Hawaiian mythology. I had been reading a book about a Kahuna who did the same with the visitors to the volcanoes and I just love the mythology. She was quit spiritual and I wanted you to be there as she spoke of how the rain, the mountains, the valleys, the rocks, etc. center us. We joined hands in solidarity after her wonderful stories. This sort of things makes my DH VERY nervous, so we lost him midway......

Great experience and just wanted to to know that it reminded me of you!

What a great picture of all you GORGEOUS ladies! I'm so glad that you had a fun evening!

I was always thinking it would be fun for all of us to spend a day at the Botanic Gardens. Maybe include families. I love it there.

Susan......oh how I wish I could have been there. I would have loved that totally and would have been so immersed in her words I would not have noticed anyone else. I think all of the things you talked about have energy vibrations.....most of which I think we would not be able to feel or sense because it is so difficult at times to be totally present right now. I'm so glad you thought of me.
Hugs, Jackie

Look at you gorgeous ladies! I'm so glad everyone had such a great time and thanks for sharing the pictures. Can't wait for the Holiday party so I can join you. Won't be able to make the Mon. Lunch Bunch - will be working.
Susan - Happy to hear about the good MRI.
Michele - You be gentle with those Cabana boys now.
Lago - I would love a family picnic day at the Botanic Gardens one day.
Got my son mostly moved in to his new place with only a few stumbling blocks. His new boxspring was delivered with BEDBUGS. So glad I checked it out before they took it completely out of the plastic. Even the deliver guys were grossed out. Fortunately I was able to find a nice bedding place there in Lakeview that delivered a nice and bug-free one for us later the same day.
Also, the Comcast guy showed up with 3 completely wrong boxes for their installation. He was there for hours, finally telling them that something is still wrong. He set up an appointment for someone to come back this morning to fix things and bring the correct boxes. Of course, they no-showed for the appointment in the morning, then promised to come in the afternoon. They no-showed for that too!
Worst of all, in not installing the cable correctly, the tech also somehow disconnected the entire cable and internet service for one of their new neighbors. The neighbor is NOT happy, and I can't blame her, although her anger is being misdirected at my son and his roommates. It's a rude awakening for my son about the real world of dealing with household related headaches!
My drain was pulled on Friday (yaaay!), but no fill for another 2 weeks. I have a lot of old scarring and I'm still a bit discolored, so he wants to take it slowly to ensure healthy tissue. I'm actually in no rush since I'd rather have it done right than fast.
DH is making a huge dinner because both kids are coming home for the night. Grilling ribs, salmon and crabs. He makes his own barbecue sauce which is amazing. Off to stuff myself! Hugs to all.

Oh and next time I must remember to be sure that all ladies with wigs sit at the inside of the table away from the flaming cheese. I forgot about that. Opa could have been Poofpa.
Rene I'm so excited for you doing the recon. The best part is when you get to buy bras. I never could fit into sexy ones before so this is a new experience for me.

Look at all the lovely beautiful ladies! So sorry I missed it! You all look great!

It is cooool morning in this area of Illinois....

Susan. Glad MRI turned out ok.
Joan888. Glad they are keeping an eye on those bites. Cellulitis is no fun.
Rene23. Bedbugs. Yuk. But the supper sure sounds yummy!
Lago. Botanic gardens sounds fun ... What town is that in? We have one here in st louis also and I love it.0 -
Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated than that.
It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

My husband just sent me THIS ARTICLE. He recognized the TE identification card as the same one I was given. I feel absolutely terrible that this woman was so humiliated by TSA, but I admit that I'm also torn about airport security because I was also pulled out for a pat-down both going to and from my recent trip to LA. Of course, I'm not still bald, and I didn't have my TE's in then. I did have 2 different sized implants in at the time, which made me just assume I'd look strange on the body scan and require a pat-down. I will say that I was much more fortunate than this poor woman and the people I dealt with were all female and right away offered me a private area for the pat-down. I declined because I honestly just don't care at this point. Both women who did my pat-down were very gentle and very quick - almost to the point of being pointless. I know this is a hot topic for a lot of people and I'm not sure that there will ever be a solution that wil work for everyone. I just feel so badly for situations like this woman's experience.

Lovely ladies! I'm glad you all had fun downtown! My DH was at work until late so I had to get my kids to their sports practices. Yes, on Friday evenings
I am trying to do my share in the carpools now because I start TC Tuesday and may have to let others drive the kids soon. People have been so nice about that. I'm a little worried because my blood counts are down before even starting TC-just heard about some bloodwork from a week ago. I'm sending it to my MO so she can compare it the the bloodwork she did 6 days ago, when I had a loading dose of Herceptin, and so she can decide what to do about my chemo tomorrow. Maybe I'll have to get Neulasta or some such? Looking forward to future get-togethers.0 -
Hi girls - I am updating the ILLINOIS GIRL E-MAIL ADDY LIST...if any of you are not on the list and want to be included...PM me.0
-
NancyJill Herceptin can lower your counts too from what I was told. Oh and yes Claritin is the drug everyone takes to reduce nuelasta pain. I couldn't take it because I was already on zyrtec. I also needed some Aleve. I will say the first Nuelasta was the worst. The other 5 were much easier .0

Congrats Mahomet. Exchange is a piece of cake to compared to BMX. BTW do you realize that our diagnosis date is almost the same AND we are born in the same month?
BTW I'm getting my nips on Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good morning. It is a great looking one and should warm nicely. Going to Carbondale this afternoon for my yearly mammograms. Will be nice to get those out of the way. I sort of hate going but it is necessary. I remain positive and upbeat until I'm waiting for them to decide if they are ready to release me to go home. Oh well....that's normal now.
Mahomet....sounds like you are well on the way to the same but a better you. Glad the spasms are letting up. Be well.
See you all later. Got a ton of things to do before Carbondale.
Hugs, Jackie

Lago - Can't wait to hear how the nips go.
mahometmom - Congrats on the exchange. Enjoy the squishy.

I'm a little bummed about my recon stuff right now. 6 years, 4 PS's, 7 surgeries (so far), and I'm still looking at one more. What a long strange trip it's been...
Going back to work today, half-day only. Hoping it's not busy because I'm not really feeling it today. I have a little headache and just want to crawl back in bed and pull the covers over my head. But, I'm sure I'll feel better once I get myself out the door and moving - and my ibuprofen kicks in.

Thinking of you today, Jackie, and hoping that all goes good and you leave the mammo room with a big smile!
What a beautiful day! I'm off to enjoy what's left of it!

Ha! Fipple hats for the cold Chicago winter!
0 -
Oh Adey! If I only had them, I would gladly cover my fipples with these! Seriously, where are these for sale?
0 -
Fipple Hats! OMG I want some. I get fipples soon. Usually I find wool itchy but since I'm numb I bet I can wear them.
Seriously how to those things stay on?
0 -
I'm thinking we all need to learn to croquet? we could make a ton of money at local craft shows selling our fipple hats!!!
Or atleast maybe enough money to pay for our Christmas parties?
0 -
Now those hats are something......where do you guys find this stuff? Did you google "fipple hats"? LOL!

I am not sure how you keep them on BUT STAY AWAY FROM CRAZY GLUE or we will have more nipple reconstructions than we need or want.
Today I taught the fourth grade and the Revolutionary War. I heard more about muskets and mortars......funny how little boys just love weapons.
That's it for me. I am pooped!

Oh my gosh, Adey! What a riot! Hilarious!
Susan, do you get your "subbing jobs" ahead of time or do they call you early in the mornings when they need a sub to see if you are available? Back in the old days we had to call our own subs. What a hassle. Then it progressed to calling into one person who arranged a sub for us. I never thought it would be much fun to get early morning calls to sub all the time. I imagine that some of the problem has now been solved by technology.
Crazy glue would indeed be detrimental to the cause. How about rubber cement? Do they even make that anymore? LOL
I'm off to read. I'm reading a light book, Winter Garden, by Kristin Hannah. It's pretty good if you want an easy read that's not too thought-provoking.

If anyone would like to join us: AimeeMac is meeting me for dinner tomorrow at 6:30 at Star of Siam. I met her last spring when she was in town. Lovely woman.0
