Thanks girls, my mom is doing ok. She will be in the hospital for about a week. She has COPD, diabetic, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, ummmmm............what else? She just has lots of health issues, but they are due to her life style. So they will do x-rays, breathing treatments and have her on O2.
Scuby, l too love your wgts. Your picture is so cute. So neat that you and NM might get to meet up. I am hoping Kathy and I can. We only have 1 afternoon to make it work!
Kathy, glad to hear Bob made it to the baptism. I hope he is coping ok. Your lantana and asters are beautiful. I have pink ones, and the lantana won't grow here.
Karen, hope you had fun shopping with your DD and you will be feeling better when your other DD gets home for a visit.
DorK, you have to let us know when it is your birfday and da ScoobZ. And for Chrissy to do GMA, that would mean she would have to come back to US. US meaning us or United States! So sorry to hear about your friend Cindy, and you are not a downer. Prayers out to all her family, friends and co-workers, and you too Dorothy. I try to make every day count too.
NM, I can tell you had a blast. Nothing better than to have your face hurt (from laughing).

Bumped in to you NM, sure hope I didn't spill your Weekend Recoverer! .......or make you drop your pictures in the pewl. And Kathy and Scuby.......gheesh!
NM, love the pictures......you look so happy and can tell you are having a good time, beautiful woman. Gosh I just love seeing pictures of you lovely freinds of mine! Thank you for sharing. I love the last picture, just wish your eyes were open. You have beautiful blue eyes, at least they look blue from what I can see.
Scuby, I missed getting married in Hawaii in 2008 due to BC, but did do it the following year, and yes it was still there!
Kathy, I know how you miss your late DH, but glad you found someone new!

Oh NM, you are SO beautiful, and look So happy!!! Such lovely pictures, thanks so much for sharing. I agree with Lori, it is so nice to see pics of all our breast friends!
Yeah, Dork and Scuby, puleez tell us your birtdays so weez can cewebrate!!! I forgot to ask, but glad Lori remembered. See Lori, why I need to borrow your brain???? LOL.
Enjoyed chatting with Lori, and yes, hoping we can get together this month. Depends on how all our parents are doing, most of all. But she will be just a couple of hrs or so away from me, so it SHOULD happen!!! Can't wait!
Gonna take my mom out shopping, while DH helps my dad cut down some limbs (hopefully only of the "tree" type!). Nice day, but expecting rain today and tomorrow....need it though, as its been D-R-Y!
Rump Rize! Bottomz Up! Titz Up! And, as Junie would add.... DILLIGAF? (well yeah, I do, but I like that acronym!),

Count me in! I gave up drinking (I'm purely a wine drinker) throughout chemo but not because I'm an angel. I was just too sick. Didn't have a single glass of wine for 7 months and I've just started to treat myself to a glass occasionally. I find it hard to believe that very moderate imbibing can skew our recurrence rates greatly -- at least that's the story I'm sticking with. Cheers all!

NM, so nice to see pictures of you, now I can tie a beautiful face to your awesome posts, yippee! i AM home for lunch but have to head back to work. It is quiet today at work due to the holiday. Half way through this day b4 Tuesday! cHEERz!

Welcome epgnyc! You can drink virtually here, no hangovers!
DorK's bday is soon, cause it is right by one of her surgeries, forget which... Mine is soon too, November 18th. Will know tomorrow if that hits near the exchange surgery.
No big news from BS, except she had the cutest resident with her! One very small advantage of treatment via teaching hospital.
NM, looks like you had a ball! I need to remember this page if we get to meet up in December! It was easy finding DorK cause I just had to ask the receptionist at PS office.
Lori, glad Mom is okay. FIL had it and was a tough fight. Hope you and Kathy can find a day to meet.
Oh well, back to work, lost enough time at BS office....0 -
Just popping in to say Happy Mon....key-day. I'll have to catch up later cuz there are some funny pix up there...

OK. Loungettes, I need a pitcherful of Recoverer drinks. I was just moving the radiaion records out of the very big notebook to a smaller one to take to the Medical Board Hearing tomorrow afternoon. I reviewed everything so I'd be ready, and spent all afternoon leaking tears and remembering the pain, fear, frustration, and horror of the rads phase of treatment. I'm takiing side bets that it will get canceled at the last minute for some odd reason--anyone want in?

Oh dear, that really sucks NM....sooooo (insert the "s" word here) that you had to relive all of that. Good idea to be PREPARED, in the odd chance that it really does happen tomorrow. My gawd that has been cancelled a million-gazillion times (or so it seems). Pitcherfulls of Recoverer drinks all around....I see Pants already made several pitchers of it and filled the top of the bar. So we can just grab our own pitcher and hit the hammock.
Gail, I was wondering where you were, and missed you. Glad to see you return on Mon-key-dey....that is sooo cute!
Will be Pau Hana time soon.....counting the minutes......

Hello and welcome to epgnyc, you can have all the wine you want here, and we allow you to whine!
NM.......OMG, we are all here for you. Please let the hearing begin! How much torture does this poor woman have to endure. DORK......WHERE'S YOUR PEOPLE?
Gail, love your Mon key-day
Scuby, Kathy and I can't find a day to get together, we only have ONE, and it's just an afternoon. Been trying for a couple of years, hoping this is the one!

Hey girls,
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for Cindy and all others touched by the loss. I ask for most prayers to her boyfriend Tom. I am not sure about praying too much for the four children as they seemed to have left her side long ago and chose not to be present during most of her battle. I am bitter over that. I do feel bad that they lost their mother but more sad for the bf who cared for her til the end. I wonder if her kids are not celebrating a new fortune, that is what angers me. I like to think she is dancing in heaven with our PS.
Gail, awesome that you came up with a word for this day of the week, mon-key day, poyfecto! I love it!! It will save time vs typing day before tuesday or day after sunday. Cute cartoon. How have you been?
Scuba, my bday is 10/26.Glad all is well with your docs. Did you get an idea on an exchange date yet? The last time I asked, I was asked what the hurry is and explained the insurance thing. I will make sure it is done this year as it will be five months from lat to end of year.
NM, saying prayers that the people show up tomorrow and that they take the right side which is yours. I revisted your story from Feb when you posted and that is so terrible what they put you through. I will be praying for you and thinking of you tomorrow. will be anxious to find out some good news.Loved the reunion pics, nothing like hanging with besties from our past!
Goldie, praying for your mom, lots of prayers today, just popped out of the chocolate chapel. I took a bite though and inflated it, the tenders are getting us a new chapel. New and improved. You might have to use your upholstery skills again hehe!!
Kathy, sorry about the grief with the anniversary of your former DH's death. It is my wish that you can reflect on the good times together and NOT that sad day.
Epgyn, yes, welcome. Some of us drink, some of us cyber drink and some of her drink drink drink. I am holding at two this evening.
I am going to get my sorry arse in bed early again tonight, I went to bed about this time last night and it was so nice to be able to get up in time to relax a bit with some coffee. Still did not have time to get on here like I used to in the am but hoping that will come once I adjust to the change of meds. Eberybody, dwink some for me, I know I can count on Claire for at least a glass of wine while I snooze! zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Have a great mon-key day night eberyone, yaaaay!

Scuby checking in supporting Detroit Lions on football. Weird, but a good friend is a fan.
PS in the am, hope a bit of dehydration won't change the game plan. Need some saline fills and exchange game plan.
NM -thoughts will be with you if hearing happens, they better watch out.

DH found a recipe for babka that he asked me to make.....so I tried it tonight.....what an ordeal!!! took all night....also made the filling from scratch.....they are baking as I type....sure hope they come out good....the recipe made 3 loafs....I can't believe how much flour I have gone through in the past couple weeks....I know I've used 10# yesterday and today baking challah, cinnamon streusel cake and rum cake, the 3 babkas and pizza for dinner tonight....My DD#1 and SIL arrive tomorrow morning....I can't wait to see them.....planned out a menu and she gave me feedback!!! which is good as everytime I asked, she wouldn't give me a preference....making chicken pies for dinner tomorrow night....the last time I made them, she asked me to make them when they come to visit....using the chicken left over from my chicken soup....need to add potatoes, carrots and green beans and make the crust.....
Time to pour another glass of cabernet......

Karen, not sure what the equivalent is in your faith, but raised as a Catholic, you qualify for sainthood in my non-religious book. Wow, would love to be a friend or family in CO! Sounds wonderful.
Another beautiful day in Philly. Up for PT, some conference calls, then PS appt. Update later.
NM, will ask one of the lads in the HTL for a left over Recoverer in your honor, hope the hearing happens but can imagine the B$ that's involved. (It took DH and I 2 years to get a permit to build a deck cause we live in an historic building! Has nothing to do with human life, but if a pseudo-govt entity can drag out a deck that long, what can they do given what you went through?). Blows the mind. Stay focused on you and the shining person that came through in your pics, that's the key!
Lori, hope Mom is still improving.
DorK, hope Tuesday brings a smile to you and everyone touched by loss of Cindy. Hope your coworker has found a thread that works for her.
Cheers, Scuby Luv!0 -
Wahine-Ah, now I see the pitchers of Recoverer, and one, no 2, no 3 have MY name on them! I guess I'll sleep alright tonight after all! Actually, I did sleep pretty well, thanks to Xanax. At least I know I can put my hands on any document I may want with a minimum of searching. Prepared is better than melting down. Good Lord I will be so glad when this is OVER.

Goldie-The hearing, actually an "Informal Conference" is scheduled for 3 pm. It's a state committee which means they only work until 4 pm, so if there are any delays in the earlier "Informal Conferences" or the board meeting that precedes the "informal Conferences" I'll either end up with only a few minutes or getting rescheduled. AGAIN. Anyone want to make a bet on that happening???

Epgnyc-Welcome to the lounge! Forgive my not welcoming you in my last post, I was a bit distracted. You are going to love it here, all the fun stuff to do and all the support is great. We even have a special whining area for the times when a big whine is necessary!

DorK-thanks for the prayers for today's meeting. I've added Cindy's BF Tom to my prayer list by name. I'm going to be praying for everyone I can think of as I drive to the meeting this afternoon. That will give me a solid hour of praying for others and help me keep everything in perspective.
Scuba-Good luck with the PS appointment! And thanks for the drinks, going to bottle one up and put it on ice in the trunk of the rental car to have in the parking lot after the meeting-figure I'll need SOMETHING for my nerves about then!

Karen-10# of flour is a lot of baking! I like to bake but I don't go through that much flour in any one session. I would love to taste some of your goods someday. Getting feed back on the menu is great, takes a lot of the worry out of making a meal to share with others.

I'm headed to the Sun Room Cafe for a hearty breakfast to help carry me through this day. Lots of coffee in my immediate future, too. Hmm, need a good DOTD, too.

DOTD: The Baker's Helper
4 oz (chilled) Red Wine
1 tsp (fresh) Lemon Juice
2 oz (chilled) Soda Water
1 tsp Superfine SugarDirections
Dissolve the sugar in the lemon juice and the water in a large wine glass. Add cracked ice and pour the Cabernet Sauvignon wine. Stir gently. Garnish with an orange slice, and serve.

Good luck today Scuba and NM. NM, praying on your way reminds me of when I was doing my rads. I would make that my praying time, and would think of the noise inside that you could hear as it went around you, as my angels flying around me. It made the time fly by! In fact, sometimes I wasn't even through praying!

Morning girls! I just spent 20 minutes reading everything I've missed in past couple of days. Dork, so sorry to hear about Cindy. Hopefully her children aren't doing what you think, but they have to live with that. Cindy is in God's arms now, pain free. Dork, we will have to celebrate our B-days together, mine is the 25th. Scubes, My daughter is Nov. 14th! Also nice putting faces with you breasties; NM, so glad you had fun at your reunion! and BTW, that baker's drink looks nothing like the recipe, WTF??? lol Bad news at Dr. Monday, WBC is even lower this week, so still no surgery date! Have to be as healthy as I can this week and hope it comes up. By the looks of it, I'll be having surgery around my B-day, and Scubes will be having hers around her B-day. What a way to celebrate! lol Also, BS will not do Hysterectomy at same time as breast surgery, which means 2 surgeries before end of year. Ugh, come on 2012. Mahine, had something to respond to you, but can't remember what now?!?! Oh well. Cheers to a great day to all you HT's!

I know! Mahine, I LOOOOVE lantana! My Girlfriend here grows it and it turns into these incredible huge bushes! They bring them in over winter, it's crazy! So she started a pot for mr this year, her name is Lisa, so I call it my Lisa Lantana! Love it!

Yes, I ditto Lori on wishing Good Luck to NM and Scuby today!!!! Couldn't sleep much last night, so got up for a few hrs, tried again, no go. And actually have tried a 5mg time release melatonin the last few nights. I have some more coming in the mail, hoping they will work. This one is fresh, but dunno why??? Weird. NM, I didn't know xanax (I finally spelled it right!) could help you sleep. I got my 1st script for it, but haven't used any yet. Glad you mentioned that!
It is raining a bit; much needed, and also takes guilt away as when the weather is nice I feel I need to be out there working. Just so much to do before winter hits. SO maybe will have a sorta slow morning!
Beans, sure miss you! Gail, you just popped in for a second, on Mon-key-day.....hope things are going okay! And Kymn, would love to hear from you too, and Heather, and........(insert all the MIA's here). DorK, Hope things are better at work today, even though everyone is sad over losing Cindy. That is terrible how her kids deserted her. Glad her boyfriend stayed by her side! NM, Loved your post, and the references to everyone, with purrfect cartoons. Hoping the hearing will go on as planned, and some good will come of it! Karen, OMG you bake sooo much, and it all sounds superb! So nice you found out what your DD wanted to eat while they are there. I know you will be so happy (albeit tired from baking!) when they arrive!!! My mom and I went shopping yesterday, but it was an "off" day for her, and she was very forgetful, and got confused a lot. That always breaks my heart. Thankful to have her here, though.
Two for Twosday!!! I will take TWO bakers helper drinks, 1 for ea hand! (Thanks to Lori's suggestion before about Twosday). Lets get this lounge hopping again!!!

OOPS Allison, didn't mean to bump into ya! I was wearing a pillow, so should have been soft (lol). Oh, in case you wonder why I have a weird name as "mahine", it is actually "wahine" which means female in Hawaiian (my ancestry). BUT you can call me that if you want to, as I have a million-gazillion names here, and one more won't matter....LOL. Gosh, I would have nowhere to bring lantana inside....sooooo big. I had guessed earlier it might be 5' wide, but went out and looked at it and it is at least 8-10' wide! Does she cut it waaaay back? This year I bought this at a good nursery, and supposed to be perennial, so it SHOULD come back next year. In the past, I ended up with annual lantana, so only had them one season. Just was shocked at how big it got. I love plants that do well in summer heat and dry spells, and lantana sure fits the bill. How is your "Lisa Lantana" being propagated? Does she just put rooting compound on it and stick it in dirt, or water, or does she airlayer it? I would love to make more plants from this one. I need to air-layer a great gardenia I have, and make more from it....better get started on it now so I will have some by spring! DARN it, wish your WBC had cooperated and been high enough. Anything you can do to bring the numbers up???
Cheers!
Kathy (raquelle, rrw, risque wisque, etc., etc., etc.)

good morning, Thanks giving was ok, missed him terribly still dont understand why with all he has done to me wish it would stop. Got lots done in the house, going to paint my bedroom next weekend so it doesnt feel like I am always walking into our room. He is in court this am to get some payments going I feel sick about it as I know he is not good with this stuff, still cant beleive this is my life. Hope you all had a nice weekend
Hugs Kymn

Kymn, VERY good idea to paint your bedroom a different color! Do something you totally love, without worrying about having to ask if the other person likes it. It is for YOU, and I am so glad you are going to do that. As an example, although totally different, in some ways the same...I kept trying to get my late DH to buy a new truck, as his was quite old and I thought he would enjoy something new. But he didn't want to spend money on that. SO after he passed, I needed a new truck, as I had to haul horse feed, needed to be able to hook up the horse trailer (with help), etc. And the old one just wasn't reliable. SO I picked something he totally would NOT have chosen, and very plush inside (we still have it and it is a 1990!), that way I didn't feel badly that it should have been HIS new truck. It would have killed me to have chosen something he would have enjoyed. So different scenario, but it does help to change things, and I am so glad you are moving forward, even though still hurting a lot. Time will help, unfortunately we can't fast-forward that. Glad you popped in.....here, have a nice tall icy dwink and sit on your pink leopard bar stool! Hugs, Kathy

I am so sorry Kymn. Good advice on bedroom color. Get new sheets too while you are at it.
Coming up for air after four days slammed with work. Major home runs on all sides. Need to bill the paying one.
My great news is that all is fine with my mammogram. This is the two year mark, so a major milestone.
Back to work.......have tons to do. - Claire

Great news Claire, that's gotta feel good. I know every time my sister goes for a mammogram (3 year mark), she holds her breath a bit.
Kymn - keep hanging tough. I totally agree, pick out something just for you.
Met with PS this a.m. Fortunately will not need much in the way of fills. Those will be in December with exchange surgery on 1/9/12. Kind of far out, but that way I get through the holidays first and should be in good shape PT-wise. NM, see you in December, DH and I need to work through details.
Diving in Grand Cayman in April!0 -
Wahine, sorry about the typo! I would love to go to Hawaii someday. Will add that to my bucket list! Kymn, hang in there. Sorry you have to deal with all that BS. Claire, awesome report! Yeh you!! Had to be stressful waiting for results, go straight to the HTL after work for your much needed massage with Pants! Scubas, glad you finally have a date set! Has to make you feel better. Oh, and Wahine, they do cut their lantana back to nothing and keep the pots in the garage. I will ask about the other details, not sure.
Well, I'm off to get ready for a Taylor Swift concert! Yeh, that's right, taking my DD (9 going on 19) tonight. She is super pumped! Swear I'm gonna take some pics and get them posted this weekend!
Oh, and Wahine, I take the extended release melatonin AND a .5 mg Xanax to sleep. It's the cocktail of the two together that works for me!0 -
Allison, Oh, oh, Pants is gonna have to slap your wrist, for you said the dreaded "s" word! LOL. We do not allow "sorry" here!! I wasn't offended, just thought you might not have noticed it was a "w" instead of an "m". As they said in OZ while we were there, "no worries"! Thanks for letting me know they cut the lantana back. And after thinking about it, I think the stems are hollow and wood-like, so wouldn't be able to air-layer them. But I would LOVE to know if they divide them, then replant in the spring? I love Taylor Swift! Love her music, and she is always so pretty and seems so polite. Have a fun time! Thanks for the info on taking xanax w/ the melatonin. TONIGHT I will try that! Had been sleeping pretty good on the regular 5mg melatonin, it was when I tried the time-release one I had problems! Go figure! But I have another brand coming in the mail, and it might be better.
Glad your mammo was fine, Claire. And glad you now have a date for the exch surg, Scuby!

I am hear Wahine the Machine hehehehehe. You in a tractor, why is that amusing to me?
Today was good. The official email announcing Cindy's death was fired to every employee in the corporation and I heard from my other friend that her desk was boxed up. It is still so surreal to me. I was holding on until another coworker emailed me and told me that Cindy was always worried about me. That was her nature, to care so much for others. Thank you gals for your support.
Kymn, glad you popped in. Also think it is a great idea to change things up in the house. The pain should lessen as the days go by but I am sure holidays are going to be hard. Hang in there. This will pass too. Heck, you endured chemo and rads, you can do this and I think you know you can. Hugz to you.
Scuby love, I will see you tomorree? I will wait for you if you are held up at your meeting. I wish I had closed doors, I would do my PT while working. I am glad your exchange is scheduled and hope you are not sore from the fill.
Claire, awesome, ching ching ching! Happy for you.
Allison, you calling Kathy Machine just cracked me up. Nice to see you here again, sorry you missed the big bash.
Where are the other gals? Calling all girls, drinks on Pants tonight, literally ~ mmmmmm.......yum.
