how about drinking?

Yum, Claire, that sounds good. I love "winter" food... perfect with a nice glass of red.
Eating steak reminds me of a wonderful dinner with friends not so long ago... these people are a little crazy so we don't spend as much time with them as they would like. I didn't eat red meat for many years and I always ruin steaks. Friends invited us for a barbeque and served me a steak the size of my plate. I ate every bite and I loved it! Also, wine was flowing... it had a cute name (which I'll think of later) so I probably shouldn't have liked it but I had more than my usual single glass. Then we danced to 80's music and laughed & I went home wondering how much life I have missed being such a snob about steak, wine, and crazy people.

Thanks, Kathy. I know I shouldn't complain but last Saturday when DH whined about the cats again I asked, "why does everything have to be a problem?" even tho they are petty problems compared to what we have all been through, it can be overwhelming at times. I just refuse to be dumped on anymore by non-issues like paw prints on our funky old cars and cat hair in the garage.
Corgi's bday is Friday (13) & WD's bday was Monday (2) -- DOG PARTY AT THE POOL!

Hey Chug- a- lug, another name in the making? Thanks for hte clarification.
Claire, dinner beckons? whaaaa dat mean? I bet you do not know how to dwunk-speeks. I dare you to try hehehe. HOpe your carpet dries.
Gail, let me know when your friends with the steaks have another barbque-ski. I will be dere in a flash!
Time to call it a night, gotta hit the hair dryer for a wee bit. I like to air dry the hair, it is less frizzy but still damp. Like Claire's floor~~Night night, see ya gals on thirst-dey, the dey after humpity hump-dey, the dey before fried-dey, yippee!

Dork....."dinner beckons" means that if I don't get my tail into the kitchen, it will be a "burnt offering". It was delish BTW.
Carpet will dry.
Ate all the steak, but not as good as locally raised beef from Met Market (this was Trader Joe's).
Gail....one of the things I learned from a BF I had in my Paris year was how to make a good steak and flambe the sucker in brandy. Didn't do this tonight, but have to say it was more than I got out a lot of my relationships.
Was delish nonetheless. So were the fresh veggies.
Not eating meat????? Quel horreur!!!
Think that one of the benefits of having gone through BC treatment is that I now excuse myself in eating more "protein" than I otherwise would. I find it still makes a difference in my energy level.
Protein = eating all the steak.
Need to clean up and get the stuff off my bed. Then an early turn-in. Ready for sleep after my three mile walk and steak dinner w/wine. - Claire

Well, Dork, Claire, Gail & old Chug a Lug were busy in the HTL last night! Had chicken for dinner last night, but now have to buy steak for tonight, feel like having one for breakfast! Gail, lots of wine with crazy friends makes all food taste good, glad you had fun!
BTW, owning cars $ucks! Think I said that before. Not yet 1000% awake. Took first tamox this a.m. Threw in multi-vitamin and B-12, see what happens!
On to do my PT!
Yo DorK, how about them Flyers?
Cheers, Scuby!0 -
Good Morning Loungettes! Another rainy day, but should be nice and sunny here by tomorrow. We needed the rain, so I ain't complainin! Allison, how was the Taylor Swift concert? She is going to be on GMA in a few minutes, so I am tuned in. Hoping all you girlz have a wunnerful Thirst-dey!
Hugssssssss,
Kathy

Good morning, Loungettes! It's going to be a dreary, rainy day today, so I am going to go get lots of carrots, broccoli, (already got squash) and other things to make into soups to freeze for after sinus, nose, throat surgery next month. If I'm going to eat soft stuff at least it will be veggie-full and taste good! I just re-read the after care instructions and noticed the "no coffee for 1 week" instruction. Sigh. Still, it says cold things are better than hot, and I really dislike cold coffee. Fortunately I do like Gatorade, and that is recommended.

Goldie-I do have a good bit of gratification just from sitting in the room while his peers and couple of lay members of the board read dr Jerk the riot act. And that his record will have a mark on it for 10 years.

DorK-I wish I could go with you to your friend's viewing so I could hold your hand and lend a shoulder. So sad when a good person dies. Some day a cure, or better yet a prevention, will come along and the fn beast will be buried forever. It just won't be soon enough.

Scuba-having a vacay to look forward to and plan for is a great thing to have during recovery! Motivation and distraction all in one! Hope the April trip is a wonderful one!

Karen-Enjoy your celebrations! See you next week!

DorK-I can just imagine what is going to happy with the as yet unnamed puppy. Maybe you should make sure DD understands the puppy MUST stay at her place until you are recovered from ALL planned surgeries? Although, if you are anything like me and a total sucker for a puppy face, it will end up at your place. Ah, well, such is life, isn't it?

Scuba-I used to sit in my hot tub in rain or snow, just put on a hat to keep it off my face and soak away! Actually loved it! Definitely need a new hot tub when I get all my debts paid off.

Whaine-I hear you about the pill management. Sometimes it can get pretty frustrating. Keep hanging in there, you're doing a great job!

AStorm-Such a hard day you had! It's not fair, but at least you could jammie up and shut out the world for a while. I heard from the body shop yesterday, "If all goes well" I'll have the car back "the end of the week." We'll see.

Claire-Wet feet from cleaned carpet is a good thing! And I am grateful for the validation I did get. I finally got someone to pay attention and that means a lot to me.

Princess Glitter Sizzle says the DOTD today is a "My Car's in the Shop"
1/2 shot Irish Whiskey
1/2 shot Irish Cream
1 pint Guinness StoutDirections
Combine (proportions of 50/50) Bailey's Irish Cream and Irish Whiskey into one shot glass. Drop the shot into a mug of guinness and chugg until empty

Great post NM! Love the cartoons!!! Oh my, I will dwink the DOTD, but hope we ALL don't really get hit with having our cars in the shoppe! Two are enough....and hoping your bill won't be sky high. When I used to get my cars out of the shop after a few days, I would be so happy, I would sing loudly all the way home "I have my car back....my car's back....etc.".....would drive my DD's nuts!
DorK I foigot all about mentioning your DD's new puppy....or "your" new puppy, depending on where it ends up. What kind did she get? Puppies are soooooo cute!
0 -
Hey DorK, thanks for letting me sit with you and sharing your wodka. I made mine healthy and put some cranberry juice in it! Uh oh, what kind of puppy did DD get?
Scuby, I hope having your diving trip to look forward to will help with your healing!
Gail, hope the tequila helped!
NM, so sweet of you to offer a shoulder to DorK and loved the cartoon!
Sounds like you gals had quite the night! I will be heading out in the morning and will check in when I can.
Here's to STEAK, WINE and CRAZY PEOPLE!

Lori, the puppy is a shitzu hybrid but I cant remember the other half, was shocked. She looks quite a bit like the pic NM put up but lighter in color. I suppose that once I meet her, I will fall in love. I mean, who doesn't like puppies?
NM, great post, as always. I loved the shoulderless lady, I laughed so hard althought it took me a few minutes of scaring to process .I imagine you are feeling good about the progress you made yesterday. Haven humilated him in front of everyone must have been awesome. I know you hope for more discipline and I hope they take him down. I give you kudos for looking out for future cancer patients and keeping them from becoming a victim too.
Wachine mahine machine, hope you got Mom's meds squared away today. Are you in for Pau Hana???
0 -
Hi DorK, Just finished Pau Hana at my parents, gazing out on the lake. Sooooo pretty. Finally got my mom's meds all together, so that is a nice thing to have DONE. My Dad mentioned he wants to be in HI for his 95th, although no family will be there. This means they will be there for Christmas too, my mom said to me "oh joy", sarcastically. I know she would rather be here. So now we finally know when he wants to return. Going to make plans for DH's big b'day which is the day b4 my dad's, in Dec. We had everything on hold, not knowing what their plans were. The new puppy must be adorable....when will you get to see it? Gotta take a pic to share with us, ya know!
Lori, Safe travels tomorrow and Saturday!! Hoping to see ya in a few days!!!
Hope all you girlz are having a good Thirst-dey! I am ready for some serious dwinking....Pants, line 'em up on the bar, and I will dwink as fast as you put them up there!! LOL. Anyone joining me?
ChEARS,
Kathy

Yo Pants, Scuby first in line! Kathy, got to be a relief to feel sorted on the parent front, not easy. Hope it works for you and Lori. Per ChrissyB's post she is on her way to NZ. DorK, what gift you gave to me in letting me hang with her during your PT. Will never forget it. Will make it to the Great Barrier Reef and rest of Aus to see her. May delay Galapagos to do itmext year.
Finished PT, dinner about done, time for a glass of Italian red wine to go with cauliflower and steak and green beans. Forcing DH to have more veg than usual to help with tamox....
Mrs_Vino still hoping WBC is improving!
Love alll. Happy Thursday night!0 -
Here is my pink-tober contribution to breast cancer awareness...
I was exhausted this morning (got home from work at 2AM and haven't been sleeping much lately) but had to drive with DD to school at 7AM, then rush back to the house to connect to 2 client's systems and repair their data before they started logging on at 8AM. As I was trying to dress myself while booting my PC someone knocked on the front door, sending WD into a tizzy. I pulled my sweatshirt back on and ruined my makeup and hair. The intruder was a PG&E (power company) technician who informed me that I have an appointment to have my gas meter switched out to the new Smart Meter (don't know if they have these elsewhere but there is rumor that they emit radiation and there have not been enough studies to rule out an increased risk of cancer). No, he doesn't know who made the appointment... but he is here to install the gas meter and the electric meter has already been changed. I had spoken to DH several times over the past months about "opting out" for the new meters and keeping our old ones. I called DH while the installer was at my door and asked if he knew anything about it... apparently PG&E called him and asked if the meter was accessible but he didn't think anything of it (!) ... I live in Treehugger town and people are freaking out about these meters. There are trying to recall the sheriff because he won't charge the installers with trespassing. Anyway... DH is telling me (on the phone) that he thinks it will be okay and there is no proof about the cancer thing... I kind of lost it then. I reminded him that it hurt my feelings that I had to do this whole cancer journey without him while he stuck his head in the sand but this is too much! I expected him to protect me from things like this, not to mention that we have daughters with my genes. And there is nothing we can do because the electric one is already installed and they won't replace it. When I got off the phone, the installer said, "It seems I've upset you" then he handed me a brochure and told me there is nothing to be afraid of. That is when I truly lost it -- I started by wishing him a Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month and then explained that I am a survivor and I am just not willing to take unneccessary risk of recurrence to avoid messing up his schedule. Then I told him to take his F-n meters and install them up his prostate.
So, somewhere in treehugger town there is a neutered meter installer with a tad more awareness of breast cancer.
Oh, and after he left I walked outside and noticed that the electric meter has not been changed.

Gail, that just $tinks on so many layers! We have those, let's the power company drive by to get a reading, but in my building I am on the 4th floor and meters arein basement. Feel a bit separated. Sorry DH missed it so badly. Would love to hear the soundtrack of the conversation you had with power company person!
Gotta go calm my DH down as neighbors in our 4 unit building have again put trash out early (Monday was public holiday). So Friday pick up is Saturday... The building gets fined, not the unit.
Jock, need to cot over from my Italian red wine to a bubbly drink, could care less what it is.
No tamox side effect yet, wonder how long that takes to kick in?0 -
OH this is SOOOOOO weird....cannot believe what I am seeing running down the street....is it a bird....is it a plane? No.....its, its, its a....."neutered meter installer with a tad more awareness of breast cancer!" LOL, Gail even though your day was the PITS, you still found a way to put some humor into it. GOOD FOR YOU to tell him where to shove his F-n meter! And then to find out they DID NOT change out the electric meter. Thats terrible. What a day you had....gotta be MUCH better tomorrow. Hope you get a good restful nights sleep tonight.
feeling a bit down myself....think it might be time for a xanax tonight....want one Gail?
0 -
Kathy and Gail heading to the hot tub for a dip with the DOTN (drink of the night) electric meter reader special. Shot of tequila followed by another shot of tequila, skip the accoutrements, cutting to the chase!
Cheers, Xanax, Scuby.0 -
Thanks Scuby....Tequila + Xanax=Feeling no Pain..... Gail and I better be sure to keep our heads above the water though....don't wanna drown!!! Prolly have plenty of company with all the crapola that some of the galz here have been thru lately! You are sweet to take care of us!!!

Oh my, so much happnin. Dorkaroonie booked a flight to Myrtle Beach again, while disabled. Ooops, what was she tinkiing?
Gail, wow, so much happenig in your world, so sorry for you going through all this and dealing with DH again. Try to understand that he cannot possibly "get it". Men...ughh.... As for the meter and such, my middle sis was also hit by the rat turd. She lived near outdoor electrical lines and abruptly moved in thinking that could have been the culprit of the beast. She also tossed her electric blankets, eating the right food etc ect in trying to keep the rat from coming back. So far so good. Do be vigilant.
Scuba, sounds as if DH should drink some bourbon, the cure all of cure alls!
Kathy, I am still here. Glad you had a pleasant day with your folks. I think you have again motivated me to take that risk and visit mine. Thank you, I am gitting you a dwink for that. Will it be Seagram's n diet? Pants is on duty, yippeee. And just two ours and fo minutes till fried-dey, YEAH!
CHeerZ!

ohhh, now one our and one minute til friedey and poyple dey, cool. i will dwink to dat...cheerZ again and again.
Claire, uhh...I am hungry, where you be's?

Lots and lots of posts to read!! Just wanted to pop into the htl for Dotd and a looooong look at Pants. Or Jock. Both would be nice. Anyone know the name of the yummy cologne that they wear?? I need to gently remind them to get their psa levels and prostate checked once they get to that certain man age. My ex-dh was dx with st4 prostate cancer a year ago and is now in the end life stage. Very sad for my 21yo bonus DD
He probably had it for a good 10 years prior, but neglected his well man checkups. So Jock and Pants....GET UR CHECKUPS!!0 -
OLY, sorry you are having such pain in your life. I will say prayers for you and your family. I also hope that our tenders take care of themselves. The rat is not only for girls, I understand.
Pants, Jock, Hunk, get her some drinks, now. And do what she says boys, the girl aint kidding.
Hugz!

Hi olygirl, Very sad about your ex-DH...so hard on your DD, and all his family and friends. Don't know what to say, other that that rat-bastard cancer keeps rearing its ugly head and that just is horrid.Hope he won't be in any pain. Nice of you to remind our Tattie Tenders to get checked!
DorK, YAY, glad you will catch that big sky-bird again and see your mummy and daddy. When are you going? My dad actually got me down tonight...thats why the xanax is coming in handy. Glad your sister is still NED. Are we all wearing poi-pole tomarra? Gotta find somethng fun. But first, I wanna go night-night......seez ya in da mornin!!!

Was at the wine bar DorK.......great syrah on special. Need to make dinner and get to bed.
Have dinner ready and just need to reheat. Yum.
Wore gloves tonight as that chilly out. Have my wine club wine to put away in my "wine cellar" (the wine rack/end table I invested in a year ago).
Enjoying my clean carpet and expect to collapse in my sheets.
Got a fab Christmas candle today. Early, I know, but will have it ready when the season hits 60 days from now.
No replies back on emails I wrote today. Rats. - Claire

Morning loungettes! Happy Fried-day! Yay!
Made it out of the hot tub with a bit of help from the boys.
Oly- sorry about xDH, have always had to push my DH to stay on top of his appts. But think My DX has been a wake up. He just booked his stress test and dentist on schedule!
Kathy, hope things with Dad are better in th light of morning.
Claire, hope you get some good responses today!
DorK, at least you booked strip somewhere good! When are you going, we will need to send one of the boys with you to carry the bags.
Off to work, Cheers all! Scuby...0 -
Goldie-Having very broad shoulders is good for something besides making it hard to find clothes to fit!

DorK-Seeing dr. Jerk get humiliated was something that I must admit, although unchristian, I did enjoy. "Dismissal with Letter of Guidance" is not actually a disciplinary action in the Medical Board's world, but it does stay on his record for 10 years. This is as far as the Medical Board will go, but I'm hoping the Letter of Guidance will include a requirement that he give me some answers. There have already been a lot of changes made based on my original complaint letter, so things are already better for the patients coming after me. That is something, at least.

Wahine-glad you got your Mom's meds all together and sorted out. That is a major job , I know from experience! Now that you know your Dad's agenda you can make plans for the Holidays and Birthdays. Being able to make plans is a good thing.

Scuba-hmmm, have you and Pants got a little something going on? Oh, of course you do, we ALL do!

AStorm-WOW! PG&E's got some balls, or at least that tech did. Glad you held out for yourself and made the phone call and had the meltdown in his presence. Maybe now someone will think twice before assuming everyone who wants to opt out is just being bothersome to them. They're talking about switching meters in my area, too, so I better get a "Breast Cancer Survivor Lives Here-do not bring anything onto this property that has not been tested and proven safe for breast cancer survivors in a 20 year double blind study." Probably won't work, but it might make someone think. Glad your meter wasn't changed (or maybe he went and put the old one back on?). I thought they had to at least knock on the door before starting any work, just to find out if anyone is home and tell them what is going on BEFORE they start. I like the picture of the neutered meter installer!

Olygirl-I am so sorry to hear about your DH. It's just so heartbreaking when cancer is found already at Stage 4. Great advice for Jock and Pants. I'm going to double check, but I think all the preventative stuff is at no cost to our Tenders (and Wenches) as part of the bene package here in the Lounge.
Woops, picked a pic of the wrong kind of package! Claire-Only 60 days to the Christmas Season???? What happened to 2011? Where did it all go? Holy Cow, I need to catch up!

Princess Glitter Sizzle says today's DOTD is "The Check-Up"
2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1 dash Bitters
1 dash Egg
3 oz Club Soda
1 tsp Superfine SugarDirections
In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the tequila, lemon juice, sugar, bitters, and egg. Shake well. Strain into a highball glass almost filled with ice cubes. Top with the club soda.

Oh, Raquelle Leather Rock enjoys Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD! Very appropriate, NM! Nooooo, me tinks you picked the RIGHT pic of the "package"....LOL. Love all your comments, as usual! You do so much work getting the right pics with the right comments.....mahalo to you!!!
Scuby, First when I read your post I wondered what I missed by DorK having "booked strip somewhere goodl"! LOL. that woke me up quicker than my coffee! I am hoping she CAN enjoy the beach a bit when she is there, but not sure when she will be there. Glad you had help getting out of the hot tub!
Oh my, Pants makes the BEST Irish Coffee.....yummmmmmmy! Then to get some of the DOTD's, and then maybe start seeing what "Fried-dey" will bring. NIce, sunny day here today, hope all you girlz will have a nice day. DorK, thinking of you for the viewing tonight....so very sad. We will have our arms around you, giving you hugs and supporting you through this.
Hugssssssssss,
Kathy

Happy Fwiday to all you HT's! Hope everyone's morning is going well! I had to get out a pad and paper to make notes from the last few days. Y'all been partying it up without me! Go girls, I was there in spirit, and had some sweet dreams of Pants and Jock, lol!
Gail, have to say I absolutely loved your Steak, wine, and crazy people story. I'm actually going to put that story as my FB status today if you don't mind. BTW, if any of you are on FB friend me, Allison Frye. Wearing a red bandana in my profile pic, with my daughter. It's a pic right before the Taylor Swift concert, which was Awesome! She is truly a wonderful role model for little girls. And FYI, I post nothing about BC on FB. That's what these sites are for, FB is pure fun for me. But I have loads of pics on there, as I can upload from my iPad!
Gail, also have to say that I LOVED that you opened that can of whip a** on the meter guy! I'm sure he was just sitting out in his truck, sippin some coffee and eating a donut, right before he walked up to your door! Then BAM!! LMAO! Cheers to that kind of awareness!!
Wahine "Mahine Machine", lol, glad the Xanax/melatonin did the trick! I think that all of us here can truly say we sooooooo appreciate a good nights sleep! I am still LMAO at your seeing a neutered meter installer with a tad more awareness of BC running down your street!! Hehehe, what a way to start a Friday!!
Scuby, thanks for thinking of me and my WBC. They won't check it again until Monday, and if it's up, could possibly have surgery Tuesday. Keeping fingers crossed, but not getting hopes up. Can't afford another whole day of tears over something out of my control. I did, however, learn a yoga move that is supposed to help. Took a restorative yoga class weds morning, and this particular pose has been done by aids patients for years, and helps with stimulating blood cells. So imagine me in this crazy pose twice a day; whatever works! Also, they are slowly decreasing my effexor; apparently that can keep your counts low! WTF!?!? Why don't they tell us this stuff?? You truly have to be your own advocate. I hope you continue to have no SE from tamoxifen! I am sending prayers your way! Also going to start a words with friends game with you. Are you Scuba_duchess there too? I'm Mrs.Vino. Look for it!
NM, love your cartoons! The shoulder to cry on stands out- too funny!
DorK, I'm no good at the dwunk typing. You take the cake on that one! Love it! And what is Pau Hana btw?
Now to get my lazy arse up and go try and finish painting this darn kitchen! Started two weeks ago! Ugh!0 -
Also Claire and Karen, your cooking inspired me this week. Every year on Halloween, we have a huge party. I start decorating in September, and we do all sorts of Halloween stuff. Definitely my favorite holiday! I always cook a humungo pot of homemade chicken-n-dumplings and tons of cornbread for the party. Well, this year I have just not been in the spirit. So last week, my little girl says "mommy, are we not having Halloween because of your cancer? Where are all of our decorations?" Bless her sweet heart! So on Weds while she was at school, my brother came over and helped me get out all of my decor from the basement, and I decorated and made a huge pot of chicken-n-dumplings and corn bread! She was so super excited when she got home! We are going to put together her costume this weekend ( she wants to be an old Grandma!) and go trick or treating at the zoo.
Tonight, I'm cooking some big fat juicy steaks!0 -
Allison, I LOVE Halloween too! Have sooooo many decorations, 6' tall witch that moves across the room, another that says things (motion activ), and tombstones, etc. My fav costume is a headless butler costume, but the little girl next door (who is 7-8 now) STILL remembers being so scared of it several yrs ago!! So I only use it every so often. How nice that you got all the decor up, to surprise your DD! Can I get invited to the partay??? We need to have a blow-out Halloweenie partay here at the HTL. OH, and BTW, Pau Hana in Hawaii, means "through with work", "happy hour time", etc. "Pau" is the Hawaiian word for being through with something, finished. We always used that word growing up, "i'm pau eating", etc. So since I grew up in HI, we use the term "Pau Hana" for Happy Hour, a lot, here at the HTL. Sometimes we also say "Okole Maluna" (bottoms up). Hugssssss, Kathy
0 -
Thanks Kathy! With that, would love to say I'm Pau cancer. At least Pau surgery!! Please pray for my wBC to come up! And yes, always an open invitation to Halloween party's at the Frye's! Last year I was Sookie Stackhouse from trueblood, love that show! I was also Sarah Palin one year, now if you saw that pic you would think it was her! Too fun.
Here's something fun you can all do for Halloween, very easy and so fun... If you have a tree that hangs over a sidewalk, or in your yard where trick or treaters walk under, tie long pieces of black sewing thread randomly from the branches. It is absolutely hilarious to watch people walk through and freak out because it feels as if you just walked through a spider web! We now live in a newer neighborhood, not a lot of trees, so I miss doing this!0
