Thanks ladies all is better today.  DH ended up not having anything wrong with his heart but they do want him to have a stress test done this week.  It has been about 5 years since his last one and he is 62.  He ended up with a bad stomach virus that was causing so much gas and pressure that it was settling in his chest.  The cardiologist said this can happen sometimes and it does mimick a heart attack.  He said even health professionals will think it is a heart attack.  Has something to do with the muscles spasms.  Anway so they gave him meds to help relax it until the virus all passes.  PCP said he has to stay on a liquid diet and his meds which will make him sleep today and then he should be ok.  We finally got home about 6:30pm and then I went to get his medicine and they said it would not be ready until 7:30.  Back home then our son who lives an hour away deciced to suprise us and bring the kids cause he thought it would make DH feel better.  Sweet thought but we were so exhausted from no sleep the night before.  I go at eight to get the meds and they still are not ready.  I tell the girl I really need these as I am exhausted and just want to go to bed.  She was very nice and got the pharmacist to put mine next so I could go home.  DS did not leave until 9pm and I think I was in bed at 9:05.  By this time DH had deteriated more and he also went to bed.  I am as work today and think I need tooth pics to hold my eyes open.  But boss is not here so I really need to be here.  As for my Dad he finally got up last night and watched the football game with my nephew.  So I think he will be more clear headed in talking to the Dr today which will be good.  Also yesterday had to squeeze in going to talk to my dads nurse about which meds where the most important since he was not wanting to take them.  Had to go to moms and set up all his meds because she was too afraid she was going to mess it up. We got rid of about 1/2 of them so he took them two at a time all day long but at least he took them.  I am very thanful that nothing was going on with DH heart.  And we laughed that we will never forget this anniversary.

Sherry...I'm so glad for you that nothing was wrong with your DH's heart! What a relief! We have a friend who is a doctor who spent last Christmas in the hospital because he was afraid he was having a heart attack and it turned out to be something similar. So it does happen to doctors too!

I hope things get better with your dad and that you can get some extra sleep tonight!

momoftwo - glad you have something.  Celexa works great for me! It does take a few weeks to get working, and the first few days on it are pretty crummy - I had a bad headache and nausea for 3-4 days, but no problems after that.  (Doc said to expect that too).

Sherry - so glad to hear DH is ok!

Hi ladies, haven't been on in awhile, problems with last surgery

Man Sherry, you had a hell of a wkend, glad to hear things are getting somewhat back to normal. Hope your in bed now getting some much needed rest.

So I am now having terrible hot flashes, up to 4-5 an hour. Had ovaries removed with last surgery and am still on Tamoxifen per my choice. Getting effexor bumped up to 150mg, hope to get script tom. Any suggestions about other tactics to deal with these til they calm down?

Survivor I know how you feel with the tons of hot flashes.  Mine still will not behave.  We even went to an auction Sunday and they kicked in over drive so I had to go to another room just so they wouldnt think I was bidding while I was fanning myself.

My friend at work knows that I have tons of flashes a day and she gave me a tip that helpped her.  She put very cold water bottles under her armpits and it cooled her right down. I dont have much feeling in my pits from the BMX so it didnt help me but it might work for some who havent lost all the feel.

    Tink Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!

I went to bed at 9pm last night and had to drag myself out of bed this morning at 6:30.  Of couse having multiple hot flashed during the night and waking up and going back to sleep is not helping matters any.  But DH is feeling good today so he is back at work.  Went to my parents after work and had a long talk with my Dad and he says he is tired of all the pills and only wants what is absolutly neccessary so we went through all of them and what everything is for and settled on what he was comfortable with.  He then said he wanted me to set them up for him so my mom would not have to and all she would have to do is give them to him.  I think he realizes she is having problems but does not want to address the issue.  Mom has even admitted that she is not comfortable with all the meds.  I tried to talk to him about home health because mom was very agreeable but he says no he does not want anyone coming over.  I tried to explain they could help with the meds but he said no he wants me to do them. He says he is going to continue chemo on Monday but wants to have a good talk with the MO before he does.  Wants to see what all his options are and if there is any other chemo that might work better.   Now if I can just keep my Mom straight with the meds.  Three times she asked me what she was to give him last night and three times I told her nothing because he had already had his meds.   I think my Dad is just fighting for control right now which I totally understand.  I am going for a massage after work today.  Much needed after my last few days that I have had.

    Thank you ladies!

Sherry good for you!  When my dad was really sick I designated a cabinet in the kitche n for meds and made an am shelf and a pm shelf he was on so many. and then on each shelf posted a posty note of what he took and when to help. He was so confused at that time and my mom was overwhelmed and I live in a different state, it worked pretty well.. good luck and I am glad you are taking the time for a massage! relax my friend hugs!!!

Hi, I have been on Tamoxifen for 9 months and have gained 22 lbs. Any carbs you eat go right to fat. I was 138 lb before BC and now I am almost 160. I had such bad pains in my bones and veins from the tamoxifen that after much researching I found that you can cut the pills in half and take half in the morning and half in the evening. I have graduated to getting the pills in half doses so I don't have to cut them in half. Today I went for my pap and had an US. They are alarmed about the thickness of my lining so will have to wait until the radiologist advises what to do next. I had my 2 breast cancer surgeries in Feb 11 so not looking forward to anything else! Good luck with your tamoxifen journey.

Got my first prescription in the mail tonight, hoping SE's aren't bad, but older sister struggled for a few months. Got through and is now multi years in. Will start with 20 mg first thing, plan B will be 1/2 am and 1/2 pm. Also planning b-12 and consistent exercise based on the useful feedback on this thread. Don't want to be here, but if I am, happy to learn from all.

    Cheers,

    Lisa
