I can't remember if I've read about Nioxin on this thread. Does anyone know if there are any "nasties" in Nioxin that we should avoid? I'm keen to give it a go if it's ok.

Kiwimum, Nioxin does have one or two parabens but they are listed last of about 100 ingredients so I do use it. I'm not on Tamox though, which is the drug which some studies have concluded can have its effectiveness diminished by parabens.

dragonfly  embrace the curls...you can do so much with them.  take some gel  (I use spray gel) and rub between the palms of your hands and then apply to the roots and I the nfluff it out to make kind of a rooster tail in the back and around my ears...helped me to look like I had more hair and not so flat to my head.  Didnt realize you were a brunette, are you going to die it blonde?

Ksmatthews   walk proud with your head up and no one will know that you didnt cut it that way on purpose...you look awesome.

Kym  you will be able to tell how fast it is growing by seeing the dark roots come in.  My girlfriend dies her hair blonde and she swears she has about an inch of roots every six weeks.  I dont think mine is growing an inch every six weeks.

Carberry I'm sticking with my natural color for now. I was a blonde for a long time and loved the color but I think this is a great opportunity to go back to the real color for a while. It will be nice to have less maintenance.

I actually went for a cut/trim today (after I posted the pics) to even things out-my husband's barber did it since I don't have much hair:) The back and sides were a lot longer because it had never been cut at all and it was getting a bit scruffy. I hated to lose some length but I think it looks more styled now and will grow more evenly. It was a quite funny experience-the barber was very sweet and kept fussing over every little detail which he had not been doing for the men before me. The place was packed and all the men looked so puzzled about me getting my hair cut (I'll tell you one thing, those men have the right idea-quick, easy and $20!!!)  Another thing to add to my list of firsts...

ksmatthews:  Just keep doing it!  Little by little if that's what it takes or go for it all at once - whatever works for you!

Kiwimum, you can ask your onc about Nioxin but s/he probably won't care. If you are on Tamox, you can google some info. PS congratulations on the rugby win!

Dragonfly1, ditto on the hair colour.

I haven't been here in a while. Everyone looks GREAT!!!! This is my hair at 9mo's PFC. I  am now using the flat iron to straighten it out, as it is very kinky curls. I'm going to get a trim in a week, but i am so excited that my bangs are finaly growing. I did color it myself, i didn't like the gray so much. Keep the pictures coming, it's so much fun to watch all the hair progress!Embarassed

dragonfly  I am in the same situation, was coloring or highlighting my hair for years, and when it started coming back my DD said "she never remembers what my real hair color was" so now I will keep it brunette...like you said much less upkeep.

Ks matthews  Congrats!  Did anyone give you a second glance?

I thought I was going to stick with my natural color which I had never seen in 25 years.  But my hair is pretty darn grey and I'm now thinking about getting a shampoo-in brunette color.  This grey makes me look old.  But then, I am kind of old...lol.

Pam your hair is beautiful oh I cant wait to use a straight iron again and bangs whooo hooooo that will be an exciting day for sure.

Kmathews very proud of you, we build it up so much in our heads and then no one even says a thing lol. I am so glad I lost the scarves when I did.

I do need to get my roots done its been 5 weeks since I went blond and its time, I know the upkeep is a pain but it makes me feel so normal....does that make sense?

Hugs to you all and wishing you all a good hair day....lol....maybe too soon huh Sealed

Makes perfect sense to 'feel normal', whatever works for each individual.  I was VERY tempted when my hair started falling out (still is) from the Aromasin (and now being on it for more years, ugh)...to just say screw it, GO BALD again!  I LOVED BEING BALD!!!  Of course, I now love my curls, but yes, have to have it colored brunette, or I'd be totally gray.   WHATever floats our boats!  :)  ~juli

Thanks everyone! I will say it takes longer with the flat iron. If i don't use it i look like i stuck my finger in a light socket. It just sticks straight up.

Kym, i sooo know what you mean about feeling normal. Nothing about this BC journey seems normal. So do whatever feels right to you, and you look great!

Luvring, you have alot of hair for 3 and half weeks! I don't think you could see mine at all for a couple of months.

Dragonfly, Ksmatthews,  and Carberry, your hair looks beautiful and if my color was like your guys i wouldn't have colored mine!!

Have a GREAT day everyone and please keep posting the pictures, i love to watch the progress!!

dragonfly mine started to get wavy like yours at about the same point. Now it's kind of curly but I can blow dry it with a round brush to smoothe it out.

Missy - I love your curls!  My hair was fairly straight until I went through menopause (many years ago!) then it started to curl.  I have learned to go with it and stop fighting it.  So when mine comes back, I'm expecting lots of curl!  Right now my DH is teasing me because the hair on the top of my head is almost making a very mini mohawk...lol  It seems to have some funny growth patterns going on, so it should make for some interesting styling challenges in a few weeks.

The only part of my head that I shaved was the sides down close to my face where it stuck out under my wig, and today I've got stubble there...on day 12 PFC!!!! Now, I know my hair didn't even come out until about Day 19 after the first treatment, so it's realistically still falling out for another week or so, but I'm still REALLY excited to feel the stubble! Of course, now comes the dilemma...do I have to shave it again???

Ok, hair update....jeeze....getting a little "Elvis-y".  I also broke down and coloured it so it's very close to my natural colour instead of that weird blacky-grey...

I think I might get it trimmed up a bit.

carrol2 -  I wish my hair was as thick as yours.  I nominate you for "BEST HAIR" on here!!

    kymn -  aww, thanks ...:)

luvrving- Thank you. It's becoming somewhat unruly. I really need a trim, but am scared of it being cut too short!
