Thanks all. I remember when I had no hair and I SWORE I would never complain about my hair again, but I must admit the novelty must be wearing off because I do get a little frustrated with the pompadour thing I got going on.
*sigh* we're never happy are we!!

ks - good for you!
Everyone else is looking great! Major hair envy here! I think I'll be wigging it for a while - its already too cold in Chicago for 1" of hair!

missy - you hair looks really cute....mine seems to keep getting higher and higher but I'd like to keep growing it over my ears. I think I will keep it short until I figure out how to deal with it.
I second the nomination that Carrol's hair is the best on this forum. We were going through chemo at almost the same time and I couldn't believe how fast her hair grows!!!

Carol's hair rocks! She gets my vote!

aww missy, mamaV that is so sweet. But it has been 10 months pfc so that is why it may seem that way. I don't think it's really thick but I do have a lot of it. I am afraid to cut it. I cut it once at 4 months just to even the lengths out. I want it to grow back down to my shoulders but I amy need to trim the back as the top grows in,0

Love all the new hair

It gives me hope...it is 8 days post chemo and my head is itching and tingling like crazy...I thought I had aanother week.
On another note....have any of you heard that it takes a long time for your hair to grow back if you have AC+T ? Or it never grows back very thick ?

Tappy, I've 23 days PFC and had AC+T. I've got lots of stubble. The sides are better than the top ... but the top is getting some stubble at last.

Congrats Tappy on finishing chemo!!!!!!
I am going in to see if I can get my hair dyed a warmer color, mine looks dull.

Tappy - I am 4 weeks PFC after DD AC/T and my hair is growing like crazy. I don't think it's a barrier to fast growth. I think everyone needs to consider how fast their hair grew under normal circumstances. Mine has always been faster than the usual 1/2" a month that I think would be considered normal. And remember that those first two weeks PFC you are really still under the influence of the chemo. It's probably not fair to expect much until after two weeks.

Yup Missy we have ther same hair and style, the curls, but i never had curls before so I am enjoying them for now. Cant get a device on them yet to staighten them out or i'll burn myself!
Marje very cute, you have a lot of great shine. Mine is sooo dull was thinking of getting some low lights done.

VERY cute hair pics here, I agree with everyone!
Tappy: I also had AC/T/CyT/Gemzar and my hair did grow in about 5 months after treatments. It grew in REALLY super-soft and gorgeously curly, many people commented on it and wanted to touch it, lol. (I did color it as it grew in gray, bleahhhhhh) Congrats on end of chemo! (we have a similar diagnosis, my tumor was 1.8cm against chest wall) ~juli

Morning everyone,
Everyones hair looks so good. I'm jealous. I'm just over 4 weeks PFC and about a week & a half ago I noticed some white fuzz on the sides of my head but you had to look really really close to sort of see it. I've been obsessing over it since then yesterday I realized you don't have to get real close to the mirror and squint to see it. It's right there, plain as day. I have noticed that I lost all the old hair that didn't fall out with chemo? Is this normal? Is my head just preparing to sprout within the next few weeks?

mccrimmon - yep - you're sounding pretty normal. That fuzz will eventually give way to darker sprouts, just you wait and see! I think it was Lago on this forum who compared that first hair to the hair on stuffed animals...fluffy.
This is the best thread - I love seeing everyone's hair pics even now that I have hair again. When I was bald, I would log on everyday to see who's hair was doing what!! It's truly invaluable.

My hubby likes to pet my head...lol and my daughter is calling me "chia-mom"!!! This hair is really, really soft.
Hang in there, McCrimmon! Hair is on the way!

Yeah, I really loved the softness of the hair when it grew back in...was lovely. Funny on the chia-mom...lol.
I am an oddball for sure, I loved LOVED being bald...after having straight hair all my life and having to DO SOMEthing with it every day...then I loved the curls...scrunch-n-go. Now hair is falling out (BF says he finds tumbleweeds al over...LOL...that is my hair, more than the cat sheds...drat)...but is curling on its own again weirdly around the crown and bangs go sideways curly...go figure! What we get for complaining for years on our original hair!

Chia Mom LOL!!!!! I love it!

Oh I wish I was done, mine is just starting to fall out...
But I love seeing everyones pics - it gives me hope for new hair !

Tappy, time will fly and you'll be there before you know it! I'm making the assumption (I know...) you are just getting started on chemo, so good luck

Thanks YM
Question for all the hair people....is is better to buzz it early in the game or wait till it starts REALLY falling out.
Just wondering if you skip the scalp tenderness if you buzz it early.

I am coming up on one year post chemo. Nov 8, 2010 was my last treatment and looking back the past year has flown by. A lot has happened in the past year, but thankfully my hair is back and I finally lost the 8 pounds I gained during chemo. I want to let all of you know that there is life after breast cancer and this time next year this will all be a memory. Stay strong and keep fighting.

TAPPY... Its a personal preference... Some people like to buzz it or crew cut it before it falls out to take control.. I for one, wanted proof it would fall out so I waited and then buzzed it to 3/4 inch and then to 1/4 inch... it didn't all fall out so I like keeping track of what I did have.

Tappy, I agree with bdavis, it is a personal choice. When mine started falling out I shaved it to maybe 1/4". I felt I had control, and I didn't have a mess. It's gonna fall out anyway. bdavis probaby had a better idea. I thought shaving my head was much more emotional than losing the titties. The good news is, it grows back pretty fast really. I am 8 months out and have had 2 trims. I color it with Revlon Colorsoft (cheap and it lasts...I am not blonde and can't justify a $$$ salon color yet). It isn't even close to the hair I had, but it looks like I might have chosen this style. People compliment me on it, but it is still too short for my taste. The best thing I can say, is when I ride my Harley it doesn't get tangled up. That is a win.

Wow everyone's hair looks great. Marjie we have the same exact texture except my hair is shorter since I keep getting cut. I do blow dry the top flat but it's still a bit puffy.
FYI for those of you on Herceptin. My hair is growing faster now that I'm off it. My hair always grew pretty fast so it wasn't so bad but now I notice it grows faster… legs need to be shaved more often now too
(I'm also less stiff).BTW Marjie it wasn't me who said stuffed animal. I just called it fur. This is the second time this week someone has quoted me as saying or knowing something when I didn't. Don't want to take credit for something that's not mine.

Tappy, my oncology nurse told me it'd be around the 14th day of chemo when my hair would fall out (she was spot-on)...so that 14th day, sure enough in the shower, it started falling out in clumps. I called my hairdresser after just putting hair in towel to protect the drains! She buzzed me off that day with others who were waiting for her, they all clapped at the end and told me I had a lovely head that looked awesome bald! THAT helped, as I was 'in shock' (though you KNOW it's coming, it's a shocker)....I felt great, and had brought along a cap a friend gave me ahead of time to wear home. BF was not told and told me he LOVED me being bald...kissed my head all over! ~juli

thanks for all the info.....do you think it is better to buzz it or just a shot short little boy cut ????

Before I came into this land of breast cancer, I have had leukemia and now a secondary blood cancer. This has necessitated many rounds of chemo to keep it in a quiet state where we can all live together. To TAPPY, I would buzz it unless you like having little short hairs everywhere when it does fall out. Although it seems like forever before it all grows back in, it will grow in again. I have 3 teens who have grown up with a "hairless" mom from time to time. My younger two loved to play Caps for Sale (a children's book), piling up all my hats on their head and walking around, acting out the story. You cry when it falls out, but then find reasons to laugh. It will grow back.
