Tappy - it's all about you! Do what you feel most comfortable with. Some ladies get a shorter style prior to losing their hair, and the buzz it off when needed while others just let it go until it's gone.,,they don't buzz it at all. Carrol was left with some long strands that she would pull out around her hat to give the appearance that she still had hair. If you get a chance scroll way back and look at her hair progessions - they're amazing...she's been voted "best hair" LOL! I remember back at the start I absolutely HATED hearing "It will be over before you know it" but....it's true!!
Lago - Oooops! Sorry if I misquoted you! I think I remember the comment, and just assume it was you because it's funny and witty
. I think I am going to go get my hair cut a bit - I'd really like to let it grow but it's not relaxing downward at all - just keeps getting thicker and higher on the top...Lyle Lovett here I come!!! Perhaps if I get more regular cuts, I can manage to maintain a nice style while letting grow. Does that even make sense???0 -
Marjie your cracking me up.
It's true though I did not shave my head and kept whatever was left as long as it did not fall out, which was not much. But my hair was always very fine and it all came out at once in the shower so there was no mess. I was thinking of having my head shaved but i could not bring myself to do it. In the end I think i made the right choice for me. I did have to trim the pieces that never fell out as the new ones grew in. But most of those broke off as the new ones came in anyway.

I cut my hair shorter (not as short as I now wear it) but never buzzed it. I had to wait till after my hair grew back to start buzzing it… I"m wierd that way. I'm not a slave to trends

Marjie, me funny and witting?… only on-screen. I'm quite serious in person… well maybe not all the time.

Om day 15, I started to brush my hair when I came out of the shower, and it all came out in the brush. To add insult to injury, it hurt like heck too. It was either cut it all off or continue with the painful brushing. It is now 13.5 weeks pfc and still so little hair. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.... but then I have always had fine hair, was bald as a baby for quite a while and am on Herceptin. The trifecta! My hair even started to come back on taxotere which was 22.5 weeks ago and I still only have about half an inch. Grrrrr!

All of you ladies look so beautiful with short hair, I am tempted to cut mine. I have a different problem. On the AIs my hair is thinning and I will be on them for another 5 years! I am trying OTC rogaine and biotin, but has anyone ever heard of taking Propecia? Men take it for male pattern baldness, and with tamoxifen and AIs your relative estrogen/testosterone ratio changes. Propecia decreases testosterone. Any thoughts?

Kay my hair was always fast growing. After chemo it grew at an OK pace but not as fast. Now that I've been off Herceptin its growing faster… all my hair is growing faster including the eyelashes, brow, legs etc.0
-
Ok I buzzed it....it was going to fall in a few more days.
So know I dont have to worry about it anymore and that is past me. It is a weight off my shoulders...done with that.
It was a good experience...and my scalp feels better now - not so itchy.

Congrats on shaving Tappy and before you know it you'll be waiting for it to grow. I finished my last treatment on the 27th of september and I've got fuzz, I check every few hours to see if I've sprouted, have no idea why I'm so obsessed.

TAPPY.. the itching will go away soon too... I am now a little over 5 months PFC and have lots of hair... and have had a couple of trims... due for one now... Everyone grows at a different rate.. mine happens to be fast!!! You will be growing hair before you know it!!

mccrimmon324, the repeated checking for new hair is completely normal. I was checking at least 10 times a day. I also had a fantasy, still do, that I would wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and find that my hair had miraculously grown several inches overnight.

I have had a long and slow road with the re-growth of my hair. Finished my chemo in late Nov 2010 and had radiation in early 2011. Since then hair has come in really slowly and very odd; extremely fine downy baby hair on top and coarse wiry, waves on the sides and back. Since early July I stopped wearing my wig and only relied on the odd cap when heading out in the sunshine. I have since returned to wearing the wig and even bought a new one! I returned to work and still saw more shiny scalp than hair on top. Could not handle the stress of that and it could stay for a while as it is one of the side effects of tamoxifen. Sheesh!
have a glorious Sunday!

Racy I have had that same dream several times!

Racy, me, too, on that dream! I figured it was probably a Tamoxifen dream...
Okay...I almost hate to admit this,but...anyone else have fine BACK HAIR??? I don't recall having back hair before, but it's very blonde, like the fuzz on my cheeks, so maybe if it was there, I just didn't notice it???? I certainly hope the "extra" hair quits soon so there's more energy to direct to the head hair!

Yamaha Fine back hair, shoulder hair, neck hair face hair. I'm just a giant peach. I think it's finally starting to go away. My onc said it was from chemo. She did say it would go away but I didn't press her for when. I glow when the sun light is behind me

Went out for my first time "topless" on Friday night! It was our anniversay, so I worked to rock the indie look! LOL!!!
I've uploaded 2 pics to my FB page, but can't seem to get them to copy over to here. Will post as soon as I figure it out.
Have lost most all of my old eyelashes, but there's plenty of new growth underneath. Eyebrows are slowly filling out too.
Must...be...patient...aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!!!
Sweet dreams of lush, beautiful hair, everyone!

7 wks pfc. It was all really silver, so I used some of that gel coloring that you use in the shower so I could see the damn stuff!

Teklya, I hear you. My hair came back, but it was intensely slow, and it is absolutely not the same. The hair on the very top that took forever to grow back is still baby-fine, the temples are receded, and the texture is still off. The chemo curl is almost out, I'm grateful for that. But, at 13 months out, I only have about five inches (I've never had the top cut, only the rest shaped.
I'm thrilled to have what I have, but I really believe the oncologists don't disclose how hard this stuff is on our hair. My friend who went through treatment right before me has the same receding hairline.
Maybe it's Tamoxifen. It really makes me so mad that after everything else we have to go through, the hairloss stuff is just so unfair!

lago, that is the PERFECT example!

Walt Disney could cast me in the starring role of a remake of "James and the Giant Peach!" I had been thinking more along the lines of "A Werewolf in London," but it's definitely more "peach-fuzzy!" marthah, looking good! Congrats on the topless anniversary!

Does it take a whole year post chemo for your hair to come back to s semi normal state ?
Or does it never really come back like before ?
(due to the side effects of Taxol then Tamox ) ???

TAPPY... I am at 5 months PFC and my hair is a lot like my old hair, just curlier. and darker.
0 -
I have heard it takes about 18 months for our hair to get back to it's normal texture. I do think though that it might have a bit more body, wave, curl or what ever you want to call it than before but just a little. I know my hair texture is better than 2 months ago but still not back to what I had.0
-
I didn't have the greatest hair texture to start with, ( fine, thin, straight) but I am kinda liking the growth, It still feels like baby fine, but there seem to be either more or thicker hairs. I ma not sure what to do about these curls though......sigh. Hoping it will be longer soon so that I can try a straightnening iron at least part of the time.

Hey Marjie, I buy Biolux straighting spray , than take garnier extra hold paste and rub it in.... blow dry keeping the front straight than I take straight iron and tame it down...spray with Aussie freeze spray has green writing on it the most extreme hold they have LOL , I also try to not wash it every day if it is to clean I can't get it to lay down... I am trying to find my software to down load pics.

Marthah looks good, glad you were able to go topless!
I have the peach fuzz on my face and it is driving me crazy! What do we do? Just leave it?
0 -
KKsmatthews- My best friend told me about the "Clio" personal trimmer (bought mine at Target). It's a small battery operated trimmer and it's amazing for getting rid of the peach fuzz on your face. It reminds me of a mini-electric razor that shears off the fuzz without actually shaving down to the skin. My peach fuzz has not grown back since I did this... 0 -
marjie thanks for the visual image that gave me a laugh this morning!
Keep trying ... you need to find a product that'll work for you!

Dragonfly,
That's what I used. When I was done there was so much fuzz on it it looked like a cotton ball. I was laughing =;0)
