Illinois ladies facing bc

Morning! Sure glad we didn't get that snow! But the last few mornings I have been scraping the frost off my windshield! Time to put that shaving cream on the inside glass so it doesn't fog up! That was a tip I got here last winter....and it works great!
Timbuktu...Juliechicago here did CMF not that long ago...4 yrs? Maybe pm her and ask where she went...I'll send her a message on fb about you wanting some info.
Have a great Sunday....no shoveling for us thank goodness...but it's coming!!!!!!!0 -
Timbuktu if you have IDC it's invasive regardless of the grade. Grade is based on a number of things including how much the tumor cells look like regular cells, rate of cell growth and % of cancer composed of tubular structures. linky Grade 2 is right in the middle.
This link tells you more about how your cancer is staged: linky Staging is important because it guides your treatment recommendations (not written in stone though because nothing is 100%. Also within each stage there are lots of variables.)

Morning everyong--
Happy belated birthday Joan!
Curious--is anyone here doing the Hot Chocolate Race in Grant Park next Sat? I am signing up today for the 5K run. There is a 15K run, a 5K run and a 5K walk. We just did a 5K yesterday, and I am trying to set a new goal of one 5K a month (weather permitting--there don't seem to be any 5Ks in Jan or Feb).
Anyone? Would love to run with, or meet up afterwards, any ladies here.

I couldn't decide....so today there are two quotes:
"To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness."~ Robert Muller
"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place."~ Unknown0 -
And the cards are still coming in. Thank You!
Onward - I know how you feel, my onco is retiring at the end of December. It's going to be a hard adjustment and I already know my new one.
Nothing new here. I'm not looking forward to chemo tomorrow but then again I don't think I ever have! Hopefully nothing new will come up so it can be uneventful. Rita is driving me to treatment tomorrow. I told her we would have to stop for a bagel. I have some weird bagel craving happening.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

WFT! I have another cold. This is the 2nd time in 2 months.
That's more than I get in 2 years. I really hope the Zicam works. I have an interview tomorrow and working the rest of the week. I really need to work too. I wish I had made some chicken soup. 0 -
Lago, you have been "relatively" isolated for the past year and now with work, you are getting the germs! I know I never had colds; never had anything when I taught (well except BC
). Then I retired and within two years it all began again. Zicam works to "put off" the cold and perhaps it will kick in for the interview. My thought is.....you have a cold......go to the interview.......apologize BRIEFLY that you have a cold...and do the best you can. Just move on, girl. You may want to take COMTREX DAYTIME (non-drowsy) to get you through the event. I wish I could be outside your door with the chicken soup, but I am not. YOU CAN DO THIS! I agree with others that you sound so energized since being back in work,....so go to sleep and show up tomorrow.DH and I went traipsing through the woods. Five years ago today we did so (same woods) when I was so sick with chemo. Then, I concentrated on moving along even though I was so sick. Today, I walked with ease and adored the colors of the woods.
Have a good week!

Thanks Susan. I will be going to the interview unless I am really weak or I'm sneezing all over the place. I do think it's rude to show up to an interview coughing/sneezing all over. If I find I'm questionable I will call the recruiter and have him let the hiring manager decide if she wants to be exposed to my cold. Right now it's sore throat, burning ears and but not too stuffy… yet.
I have a feeling I caught this on the EL. The other day this woman puked in the car. We all moved to the other end of the train… and I was the only one who actually contacted the conductor. I think some people were put off that I did this because it caused a delay. Geez doesn't anyone care about anyone but themselves anymore?

Hi girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel as though I have been "away" for soooooooooooo long! Our friends and their 2 children spent the weekend with us here in our forest. We had a great time! Pumpkins, walks in our forest, bike rides, bon fires, apple crisp...awesome! These friends stood by me when I was dx'd...and I just love them for it!
I am too exhausted to answer to all of you...so, HUGS to everyone!

Joan888-thanks for the perspective on next year. I'm telling you, ladies, Halloween candy lying around to hand out makes it hard to start a new, anit-cancer diet! Maybe my white tea with antioxidants will help counteract the damage! Wow, a 5K--more power to you, CorinneM1! You have a great goal. I haven't posted on this thread for a while. I've been feeling really good now that I am on Navelbine instea d of Taxotere/Cytoxan. Had an allergic reaction to Taxotere. Neupogen helped my counts.Still on Herceptin, too, of course. 8 more weeks to go of weekly infusions. So far I don't know anyone else on Navelbine. Rads after. I can't complain about the weather this fall in Illinois-it's been beautiful. My three kids are busy with competetive swimming. I'm hoping to have relatives come for Thanksgiving, but they can't if they have colds, my MO said. Trying to remain germ-free by washing hands a lot, even though two of my kids caught a cold!

Morning! Looks like a dry day for the kids...
Lago...hoping that you are feeling much better today. Being that DH is an elementary school principal he was always bringing home germs and I averaged 2 colds every year. Since chemo....none. Go figure.....
Zap....yep, trees were so beautiful yesterday! We didn't go walking but took a drive thru the Fox Valley...so pretty!
WendyTY....fingers crossed for an easy chemoing (is that a word???)...say hi to Rita and enjoy those bagels. Yum!
Gotta get started on my day....shower, gym, groceries, drugs, clean house, bring up storm door to put in after trick/treat done,laundry....etc etc etc! Tomorrow gonna run the mower out of gas and switch it out with the snow blower....guess its time! Sniff....
Happy Halloween! BOO!!!!!!0 -

There are two irrepressible urges that we all share: first, to solve problems, and second to help each other.

WendyTY.....Great to see you as always. I'm hoping too for a good tx day for you. Rita will make it special.
Lago -- maybe your meds will kick in quickly and get you over whatever you have. Sure hope so.
Wendy -- Susan.....one of life's small bonuses are the beautiful changing leaves this time of yr. A two week Indian summer can be pretty neat as well. I do hope we gentle into the winter season. The past couple of years it has been so abrupt.
Laura...did you save me some apple crisp? I pretty much love anything with apples.
Wendy...love the BOO.
Hi to those not able to post much. You are in my thoughts. Hope you all have a fantastic day...and no tricks.
Hugs, Jackie

DH bought a new snowblower! Dang it!
Adey, I love that little guy ghost!
I collected about 70 leaves (on the ground) and am going to preserve them with floor wax. I found a video that shows you how to do it. I want to decorate my Thanksgiving table with them. I am so not crafty, but I should be able to do this. I am making a volcano with my grandchild on Thursday. Do any of you remember making volcanoes in elementary school? Next week I work, so I will be far away from crafty activities and the world will be better off that way.
Laura, sounds like a great weekend.
Wendyty, Makmak and all the women in treatment......I think of you so often.
Lago, hope today went just the way you wanted it to go!

BTW Interview went well. People seem great. Only concern is the company. Been through a couple of bankruptcies already. Still sounds very unstable. Granted it's temp to perm so I can get in there and see how bad it is before I sign on, if they even want me. I'm hoping for feedback this week.

Three days before I started chemo back in 2005, we had a Halloween Party for family and friends. It was a great way to ease my fear and kick off the upcoming treatments. This is dh and I - Make Love, Not War!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (For those of you old enough to remember that statement! LOL)

Oh and JACKIE - I want that cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol0

Hi gals! Whew! There are so many posts and I am so far behind. I just got back from several days in Mississippi. My son had surgery there on Thursday so I once again drove down. It was an easier drive the second time. I cruised back in last night.
Susan, I got your card. That was a cute one, burt that was really unnecessary. I am just so glad that it might be helpful to your kitty. Please keep me updated. Our cat never minded the taste when we opened the capsule and sprinkled it on the food. I will keep my fingers crossed that this gives kitty more mobility. It sure helped our old guy!
Timbuck2.....I found the CMF chemo quite doable. My worst day was the third or fourth day after treatment. Then I had a little chemo vacation until the next treatment. My counts did drop toward the end, and I had to have the neulasta shots to build them back up. I was stage 1 but Grade 3, which is pretty aggressive. Any questions....just PM me.
Wendy and I hung out today in the chemo room. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to help her with occasional rides. She even treated me to a yummy bagel from Panera's.
I'll stop in tomorrow and get caught up with my reading. Hugs to all of you!

Hi ladies....happy Halloween to all!!!! Some brats stole our whole bucket of candy I left on our porch while we were out with the DD. And when I say WHOLE bucket I mean the bucket and all.... Not nice at all!!!!
I have #4 on Wednesday..... I just regained my taste buds so BOO!! I usually go on Tuesday's but my onc couldn't see me on this one so it's wednesday for me. I'm going to say a prayer that my taste buds aren't as bad this time around, it was absolutely horrible for #3!!!
Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!!!!!0 -
Lago: Good luck with the job! I hope it works out...crossing fingers.
Robo and Madison: Good luck this week...hoping for minimal side effects! You will be 2/3 done! Hang on to that thought..only 2 more to go!
Laura: Love the Halloween photo! Adorable!
Rita: I hope your son is doing OK.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO YOU GIRLS!! I hope you all had a wonderful day with lots of trick /treats. We had a cute parade at school...lots of super cute costumes. These kids do have great imagination for dressing up. The cutest one today a hamburger with trimmings lol.
Rita...hope your son is doing well after his surgery. Mom's never stop worrying about their kids no matter how old they are. Glad you were able to spend some time with Wendy. Give her a hug from us all.
Laura...rock on girl...Super cute pic. Did you make the costume or have that in your closet.
Lago....laughed my head off at the you tube of Italian xmas, yes that is my family in so many ways. Dominick the donkey...love that song lol lol Good luck with the job interview and hope all goes well for you.
Robo /Madison...hope you are feeling well soon. Almost done..hang in there
Jackie...how are you feeling after your dental work.
Wendy...my dh clean out the snow blower this weekend and guess what was all tangled up in the blades...hm mm my beautiful scarf i lost last winter. Chopped up in pieces. sniff sniff. It was my favorite one too. So check those blades.
mdg..happy moving to you and hope you get settled in soon.
Zap...I too did the leaves on my table, I pressed my in books. I took acorns and spray painted them for name holders. Cut red wood sticks, cranberries and pine cones put them in a glass vase for a centerpiece. Super simple and easy decorating.
My mil is still in ICU and it is still touch and go for her. I go everyday to see her and take care of her after work so I don't get to post often but I do read.
Well the invites are out so please check your emails. If I have missed someone, please email me and let me know. I hope you all can come to mix and mingle..
To everyone else I missed I hope you all are doing well....
Well it is jammie time for me....sweet dreams girls...it has been a very long day....

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well. Ralph Waldo Emerson0

Good morning...wow !!!! So much going on. mdg -- how great that your first holiday in your new home will be Thanksgiving. Maybe if you have trees in your yard and your feeling up to it you can try Susan or Bj's tips for a little decorating.
Lago...about the shoes and it is great to get to try on a job for size. Hoping all goes well.
Laura...I definitely remember. Went to the first love-in, in Detroit. Probably where I first recognized the smell of marijuana smoke, but only to see it.....went with another couple and we were both newly-weds then --- sort of not needing to (love-in) too much.
Mad....hoping the taste issues let up for this time. Don't forget the Luigi's ices. I loved the lemon ones most of all. Soon you will be done ( I know, not soon enough to suit you ) and feeling proud of yourself that you made it through this time in your life. Robo, mdg and anyone else.....I know hang in there doesn't go too far but you have your personal cheering section in all of us and it does get so much brighter after you are through this part. It really is the pits and a trial by fire but holding hands.....we all make it and look back in wonder. Your turns are coming.
Hi to Donna in Arizona. Your missing a beautiful Fall, but I'm sure your ok with that.
Bj --- I think the bruising is going to start fading now and I'll be so glad. I could have used make-up, but was rather a large area.....so just let it alone and fielded the 'few' remarks. Most were kind and really not too many of the "joke" variety. My mouth has not really bothered me and I have been eating anything I want.....so life goes on.
Hope you are all going to have a fabulous day. See you later.
Hugs, Jackie
