When they brought up the Clio last week I bought what Walgreens sold and it was a full sized battery operated raor. Like ksmatthews I was too afraid it would grow back thick and black. I will get this smaller one and go for it. the fuzz really shows up when I wear make-up.

Hello all. I have been reading your posts and appreciate the information very much. I am 6 days PFC and had to pluck a rogue eyebrow hair today for the first time in months. LOL. Eyebrows and eyelashes have some thinning but not bad yet.
I retained about 10-20% of my buzzed hair. I noticed about 2 weeks ago a few long fuzzy hairs trying to show themselves. But I also noticed a lot of fall out of the short hair in my stocking cap I wear around the house over the last 2-3 weeks. So I guess my body doesn't know what to do right now but I am anxious to see progress.... Let the growing begin!0 -
Why can't our hair grow back on our heads first ... rather than spending all that energy growing on our faces etc. Downstairs is growing much faster than my head and is twice the length. Go figure.

Hey to all. Have been off threads for awhile. Been in hospital with Mono, Hepatitis A, anemia and hypothyroidism-chemo, the gift that keeps on giving.
Anyway tried to check out everyones posts and the pics are great, everyone looks great. Surprisingly mu hair has continued to grow at an incredably fast rate despite being so sick lately. Just wanted to wish everyone luck with their hair growth.

Izzy,
I see you had TC too...me too. Just throwing you an FYI -- I kept most of my eyelashes throughout treatment, but they all fell out about 6 weeks PFC. I lost most of my eyebrows some time between the 5th and 6th infusion.
The eyebrows are coming back in nicely now, and I have some signs of eyelash growth, but it is really weird to not have any eyelashes! Something I didn't expect 6 weeks PFC.
P.S. just read your tag line, and we had different chemo regimes. I had taxotere and cyclophosmide.
Good luck with the eyelashes!
Cheers! Martha

My hair seems to be growing on the every three week taxol (I just had 2 out of 4 today). I wonder if it's growing for real or just psyching me out! I have been sporting the bald look so I'd like to know if I should shave again.

Survivor, my goodness girl, what a ride you have been on. Mono alone is long road to recovery. Good hair growth is a small consolation but I guess take what you can when it comes. HUGS
Martha, thanks. Kind of prepared myself for the late eyelash and brow loss based on prior posts
Stinks but better to know it may be coming than to have heart broken surprises! 0 -
I never had any problem with the peach fuzz...or perhaps I didn't notice. I'm sure I would have though with all the times I was standing so close to the mirror looking for any signs of hair growth!
I though I had dodged the bullet on my lashes and brows - but lost them right close to the end of my chemo. Overall that bothered me the most, it felt like my face was just gone. They came back though, and then thinned again a few months later. My eyelashes are definitely not what they used to be and I fill my brows out a little more with pencil but I'm not going to complain...they're THERE!

Dawn - glad to see you are back and on the road to recovery. I came down with shingles while on chemo and spent some time in the hospital with that. I was ready to throw in the towel at that point so WOW, kudos to you for staying strong and getting through all that. Sometimes it's hard to remember that the chemo is actually helping us, isn't it??0

Five weeks PFC today. I had enough hair (using the term loosely) to wash away the grey. I wanted to go dark brown, my DD wanted red, so we used a "copper mahogany brown" color and well, she got her wish.

luv rving looks great! I am going to color mine again today. I am 16 weeks pfc. I will post a picture later.

LuvRVing, Looks great! That color looks similar to my natural, which brand did you use? I think I may try it in a couple of weeks. I'm actually going to Epcot next weekend, I'm thinking I may just ditch the wig and wear a hat. I don't have the hair you do but I'm hoping by next week I will.

LuvRVing - looks great..and so soft too!!0

LuvRVing - wow you have great hair.
As for eyelashes and eyebrows - I have lost some eyelashes but not alot. Now the eyebrows are a different store - 8 weeks (last week) PFC 80% of my eyebrows fell out. Thankfully they are starting to grow back. I have 5oclock shadown on the brow which helps with using the brow powder make up.
Love all the pics ladies. I am now 9 weeks PFC and have some fuzz but not enough coverage to go topless yet. My ONC nurse yesterday told me that she see peoples hair take off growning at week 12 PFC - I have my finger crossed.

Thanks, ladies! I'm satisfied with the way it's coming in, and the color is growing on me, figuratively and literally...lol.
McCrimmon - I used Garnier - Herbashine - copper mahogany brown. It was a 28 shampoo color rather than permanent. Next time I might try dark burgundy, just for grins and giggles! Definitely skip the wig in Disney...other than your family, who will see you that will care??? Be comfortable! Caps are nice for shielding your head from the ever-present air conditioning, though. To be honest, unless you are wearing something with a pink ribbon, I don't think anyone is giving bald heads a second thought these days.
Dawn - hope you are on the mend and feeling better soon!

Look at all the hair that's sprouting! You gals look great.
Story:
Today on the bus at 7:30AM (on the way to PT) I saw this woman who had my hair "cut" from March/April. Almost the same color too although I had less gray but I'm at least 15 years younger than the woman I saw. Anyway I tapped her on the shoulder and told her I had the same hairdo this past spring. She points to her boobs and I said yes.We got off at the same spot too so we walked together a bit. She was going for her Herceptin treatment… I let her know I finished mine this past September. I think it made her feel better seeing me since I look so normal. She told me she loved my hair color. I laughed and said "I pay for that. At age 50 it needs a lot of help to get this color."

ksmatthews, its looks great. I've got such hair envy. I know I still need to wait for 6 weeks before I hopefully see something but right now I just look like I have a head of white fuzz, I keep thinking I'll wake up in the morning and have red hair again and not look like an old man.

Lago - that's an awesome story. You probably made that woman feel so much more hope moving forward. You're a good person...not that I ever thought differently0
-
Lago how sweet!
Thanks for the compliments! Im loving that it is growing, just wish I could have more so I can ditch that wig full time!

Ksmatthews You look great!!! That's the length I had when I first went topless full-time. I found that people were very receptive to the new short look. Your eyes look amazing with the short, dark hair.0
-
lago,
How wonderful of you! I can say that, in my experience with all of this and all of the support I've received, some of the most meaningful has been when someone has come up to me and said, "I was in your shoes 7 years ago," or something similar.
It is those stories that give us all hope. Thank you for doing that for her...I'm sure she'll pay it forward, too.

As for texture, I always had dark brown curly hair. I have to say the texture and color are pretty much the same (maybe a few more greys..shhhh!!!). You lucky girls with straight or wavy hair may see a difference of texture, but I don't. It doesn't seem any curlier than usual, except that it is short. Longer curly hair weighs itself out and it looks straighter. Short curly hair takes forever to look long.
They make fantastic products now for curly hair to look nice curly, or to straighten and smooth. Matrix products are great for straight look, but I dislike the smell. CHI is good too. Garnier Fructis straight formula isn't bad either. Curls Rock is good for curly styles. I have also been using Redken 06, but not everyday, as I feel like I have helmet head.
In the mid 70s I had an "afro" and I am caucasian. It was in style then, and the longer my hair gets, the more it looks like that. My hair is still too short to blow dry straight without making a frizzy mess, and my darling daughter broke my Sedu. My stylist did say to take it easy on the hair with color, chemicals, and heat for the first year. I do use a mini flat iron on my bangs though.
