    backside viewfront view

I am 3 mos out from Dose Dense AC-T-

My hair is maybe 3/4 inch-I am a natural blonde and it started coming in white with color under. It is pretty thick all over. My eyelashes started coming in around 6 weeks after the last treatment as well. They are a little thicker than what I had to begin with. I am just hoping to keep them.

It is sooo nice having a little bed-head in the morning and I actually have a duck tail in the back!

Becca - looks great!!!  I'm noticing the eyelashes grow pretty fast.  And I've got that duck tail thing going on, too!

KS - I wear some breast cancer earrings often - I hope it minimizes the dumb questions!  And good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Once they started, it seemed like they came in quick-I spent alot of time in the magnified mirror and was so excited to see the first nubs of eyelashes! I love your hair color-was it a temporary rinse?

MamaV-they will love the trip, don't forget about butterbeer and they also sell this pumpkin juice. I know it shounds nasty, but it's not really pumpkin, kinda an applecider with alot of cinammin-have fun and boy do I get the cold head thing. Love going topless and can a little longer than you up north, but I agree-how to men do it?

marthah-I used a Sally Henson product for dry brittle nails and that seemed to help. Your hair looks great and growing so fast.

ksmattheus-glad I made you smile and good luck with CT,make sure you let us know how it goes. As far as stupid people, remember you can cure cancer, but you can't cure stupid-F'em I say.

beccasgm-cool, we have about the same hair growth in the same time frame. When was your last chemo? Mine was Aug 8th.

Beccasgm - It's L'Oreal chestnut brown and it washes out in 28 shampoos.  At least that's what the box says.  Because my hair was coming in white, it seems to have taken the red rather than the brown.  It's definitely a younger look and a little fun.

LuvRving-I love the color-you look great!

Before I was diagnosed, I had let my hair grow a bit and it was shoulder length. When I found I was to have chemo I decided to have a little fun.

My husband used to be a stylist so he cut it short, we first dyed it red and then black right before it fell out. I had never dyed my hair before so it was fun seeing the different colors. I wound up getting a reddish-brown wig (see avatar) that I have gotten more compliments on than I ever did my real hair. People are really surprised that it is a wig!

I am getting ready to see my ONC for the first three month follow-up and am a little nervous.

I would love to see pics of your growth.

What are the rules for coloring?

I am 7 1/2 weeks PFC.  "Hair" is mostly thin grey stubble on the top, but longer on the sides.

Beccasgm, dunno what you plan in the long run, but from your photos, you are very striking with short hair! And the wig is truly great!

As to the wig looking "better" than our regular hair, a smart gal who went through treatment right after me told me wig hair is shinier, more like it is when we are younger.  She, too got tons of "you look great" with the wig.

@LtotheK-Thank you for the kind words-I might have to grow my hair to the wig style and play around with color again.

I liked the black alot but also the red. Oh to have enough hair to even worry about it yet...a girl can dream!

beccasgm, you are gorgeous and very beautiful. I really like your natural pre-pre-chemo style and colour. I may use you as a model for a style for myself. Your hubby is an excellent cutter.

ks, yay for your scan results!!

survivor11, tomorrow I am starting another med for the sweating. I hope it helps as the problem is getting ridiculous; hardly any flashing but heaps of sweating.

Re the extensions, the type I am getting will be two wefts/bands that wrap around the back of the head, secured by little plastic cylinders to my own hair. I need to have at least 2 inches of length, probably ideally more, for the stylist to work with in attaching the wefts. There is then a small toupé piece to cover the short hair on the crown. Cost is $530 for the wefts, about $200 for the toupé and $130 every 6 - 8 weeks for maintenance/repositioning of the wefts as the hair grows.

There may be other extensions that are cheaper, but not for hair as short as mine. Also, this system does not damage the hair.

I am 29 weeks pfc today. Yesterday I was massaging my head and afterwards I noticed that one hair had fallen out! I measured the length and it was 1 5/8 inches :-( .

I am happy to have hair but need more. I have enough to go topless but only do so when I know that I won't see anyone I know as only my sister knows about my hair loss.

Martha - I discovered shopping online through Amazon years ago on a very snowy Sunday in December when no one was going anywhere.  I did 90% of my shopping that day and had it all shipped to my daughter's house in MA.  Now we are in the same area so I'll have things sent here.  My DH can wrap if I'm not up to it.  I LOVE Amazon!!!  Luckily I am not working, my DH works from home and I don't have to do anything unless I feel up to it.  That drive is going to be the real killer, though.  My family will all help as best they can including picking up some of the driving.

Someone asked about rules for hair color...not sure there are any hard and fast rules.  I opted for temporary hair color because my hair is growing fast and I wasn't sure how the color would take.  I didn't want to pick a permanent color and then just hate it.
