I will have to look it up, but think it took two months, closer to three for it to actually look like hair, for awhile it looked like fur on a well-loved teddy bear....when I lst noticed it coming back, it looked like I had pepper on my scalp or something.  In two months it has grown about 3/4 of an inch.....my hairdresser keeps me posted on this.  I don't mind the white color, but it has no body at all, just too soft and whispy....like baby hair.

MamaV, I feel the same way you do.  I hate my hair this short.  When I look in the mirror I don't see "ME".  I have always had long hair.  I am thankful that it is growing, so far about an inch and a half, but it's just not enough for "me" to go topless outside my house.

Mammalou,  .  I am 5 months PFC and I still wear my wig.   Only 3 people have seen me without it.  And one of them just told me... "No...your not a short hair person."  I have tried spiking it...combing it down...combing it to the side...trimming the sides and back.........nothing looks right.  I look like a dang CHIA PET!

I am having a lot of real insecurity issues including insecurity issues with the "hair" thing because I am looking for a job and want to look healthy and hirable, so I am wearing my wig to interviews.  I do not talk about bc with anyone except my son, mom, 2 friends and you great ladies.  So it is not an option for me to look like I've been sick. I am glad that I do like my wig.

I will say that I do admire all of you that are courageous and confident and are ok or happy with short hair!

Question for any lady who had Docetaxel(Taxotere): I lost my hair at 17 days on DD A/Cx4 had a month off then doing Docetaxel every 3 weeks 4x. At my first Docetaxel appt. my MO said I may start seeing hair growth and I did, about 2 weeks after 1st treatment. It's coming in some but is about 1/4" long. So my question is has any one else experienced growth during Docetaxel and did it fall out again?

Cathy_C, I had 3x of taxotere 3 weeks apart and yes my "chemo fuzz" grew in during treatment.  I did not lose it again. When my "chemo fuzz" was a 1/4 inch or so my "real hair" started growing among the "chemo fuzz".

Cath-c , I too am on Taxotore x 6 my last treatment will be next week, and I lost my hair on day 14 after first TX then by round 2 it had started to come back , I now have a head of baby hair sticking straight up about 1 inch , I look like a chi pet LOL , I was scared at first thinking maybe the chemo is not working but they assured me some people do have hair growth through chemo, I guess I should count myself lucky

Cathy -c, I had taxotere and my hair started to grow back during treatment (lost during FEC), and is still growing, although slowly. I am 7 weeks PFC. Still no signs of eyelashes or brows though.:(

All of you look so nice with your hair.  I must get a picture and post.

You know what is nice?  Having to do your hair before you leave the house to go out.  I used to get so aggrivated about having to do my hair.  I said many time I think I will shave my head and get a wig.  NEVER AGAIN!!!!  I am so happy just to have hair.  Might be shorter and grayer right now but it is mine.Laughing

Carrol I too have the same problem.  Granted it only takes me 5 minutes to dry my hair.

That damn chia pet/head keeps creeping into this threat, Lol.

agree with cdairth,Karina your hair does look like a real haircut and suits you well.

Carrol2-have the same problem. Use to take me forever to do my long hair, now I'm ready in no time.

It's funny the more like my old self I feel, I find that I forget what my hair looks like-not that it's terrible. It's just I'll catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror and it still shocks me cause I've always looked over and seen the women with the long hair. Still very weird. Although lots of people say they like me in short hair, don't think I'll ever be able to see myself that way.

survivor I know exactly what you mean. I am only now beginning to accept the hair I have now. I intend to grow it back to my shoulders though.

im so happy for all you gals!!you;ll never know how encouraging this thread has been as i've watched you.. we;re still not sure where i'll end up< but it WASN'T  chemo, but a side effect, for sure.. my thyroid has gone wonky.. i got the courage to keep trying meds for my thyroid, and using minoxidol even though it lookED like i wouldn't ever get it back.. its thin, patchy, but i have hope it'll be back.. i used to say (a bad haircut) never mind, its ONLY hair... it'll grow back.. i'll NEVER say that again.. i used to HATE my hair short, it was way longer than shoulder length, and thick... Now, id gladly settle for a thin, pixie... AND... i just might get there.!!!!thanks, keep the pictures coming!!!...3jays

    Minor update/victory:

Now at 10 wks PFC, I finally have enough lower eye lashes to wear mascara! They are short, but actually kinda cute! Wore mascara for the first time in weeks this weekend! Upper eyelashes are growing in thick, but not very long yet.

    Woot!

Woot Woot!  for your eyelashes, I noticed this morning that I'm down to two or three of my original lashes, I look sort of strange but I definitely see new growth so I'm not too worried.  Although left side seems to be progressing better than the right.

mccrimmon - same here with the lashes - kind of a spider effect with the top ones.  I have great even, although short, growth of the bottoms but the tops are pretty scraggly, and one eye is better than the other.  I actually gave the top lashes a "haircut" when the short ones started coming in so there was not such a difference in the length - it was looking crazy.

My lashes that are coming in are either sideways or straight down too.  I sure hop eventually everything gets back to normal.

So funny my hsuband jsut told me he thinks my grey streaks looks cool. I kind of like them too. Guess I'll leave them, at least for a little while. I saw my brother and pointed out my grey to him, he said "well you have some grey, but it's not old lady grey, it's 47 years old grey." SO not sure if I want to look my age yet. lol

My lashes are getting longer but still not quite as full. I never put mascara on the lower lashes. I feel it makes you look like you have dark circles once you're in your 40's especially if any flakes off.

My eyelashes have come in good they are just a lot shorter than before I lost them.  I have not tried mascara yet.  I do use eye-liner.

Mccrimmon when my lashes first started growing back in I had some that grew in odd directions, but they have straightened out.  I bet yours will too.

Karina I also have bang envy! Look at you, 4 mo PFC!
