so on 7/13 I had my last period and on 7/17 I started on Tamoxifen... had hot flashes for like two months but no period (I am 51), so I figured good trade-off - no periods for two months of hot flashes, right? So guess what - I got my damn period today - ugh! My cute husband says 'Maybe we should have another baby then...' - NOT! ugh. Really really thought I was done with the period thing!

Hi V...Did you gain weight taking the Tamoxifin?
0 -
nope.. stayed even until my DIEP surgery and I have lost weight with that...

Chabba....I am so thrilled they found nothing, WHEW!!! I hate the worry we all have to go through, I hope you at least celebrated with some good old fashioned booze. So so very happy right now! Love you!

Chabba, great news!
Sorry you have to be thinking about the mx. I had a unimx in July 2010. Haven't reconstructed yet and not sure what I'll do. I like having the luxury of not having to rush into anything. I've got good prostheses, both for regular bras and for bathing suits, and day to day life goes on. It's not easy to be assymetrical, so I can't really go braless, but I've come a long way in being ok with this new version of myself. One of the things that helps me is reminding myself that this surgery hopefully saved my life (lumpectomy was never an option for me due to positions of tumors) and I'm here, living each day, watching my kids grow up. That being said, it takes a while, and I'm still not totally there and have my down days. Losing a breast is hard, no question about it. Can't minimize the emotional impact. But these scares are also awful, and a bmx will lower your risk. I can't explain why I'm still holding on to one of mine. I had a scare last May; they found a 'something' on my MRI, turned out to be B9, but what a week of hell that was. Going for my yearly mammogram in 2 weeks (on my birthday!!!! what kind of rotten scheduling is that?)
Hi to everyone else. And just for the record, I'd love to know how you Ladies are losing weight on tamoxifen. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost. (Could use to lose 15 lbs.!) Oh well.
Happy week to all, Shari

just v - too funny about the baby. My husband would say the same thing
. Bummer on the period. I'm with you that it seemed that was one positive that came out of this BC business. Not fair!Shari - I haven't lost weight either.

missed an entire week of posting! to those of you who spent your first Thanksgiving without loved ones...I know you got through it....know it could not have been easy....remember all the firsts myself...you are strong women...Remind yourself that you got through it..you managed...if you can think of a new ritual to help you through Christmas/Channukah...and start planning it now, it may help a bit.
Having a rough week...seems so up and down!....letting go of my principal job was supposed to lower my stress level and instead I am worried about the teachers who I end up replacing in the classroom since they have to give me full time teaching hours...and when I found a few other hours elsewhere to lower how many hours they had to find me, they were only going to offer me 3 teaching hours...really???I have been a full time employee at this school for 19 .5years.....seriously????and talk about tension...the guy replacing me asking me every week to go to these cursed meetings on Fridays.....sorry...I still have dr.appointments on Fridays...same ones I told you about last week and the week before! I am NOT going to these meetings
anyhow, have to head to the gym.....see if I can actually move my back and hands...not liking Arimidex very much .
Needless to say, I am putting in resumes other places beginning in January....

A question was brought up to me by the surgeon the other day and I have been searching and searching for an answer and can't find it! Hopefully someone here knows, or at least knows where I can find it????
He asked me when I had my lumpectomy if they ever checked my lymph glands?? They found three spots on my left breast, they did a biopsy on all three of them at once on 12/9/10 Then did the excirsion on 12/22/10. No where am I finding on my path report, sergical report or anywhere else that they checked my lymph glands. MY QUESTION:.......... DO they check your lymph glands when they just find LCIS and Atypical Hyperplasia? I am confused. I would think they check them........
When I went to him the other day he said he felt a large lump under my arm......since then I have felt and felt and I feel it and another one a bit smaller........I am a little scared!!!0 -
I don't know the answer Paula, but hang in there. I hope your lump is benign. I had a large lymph node under my arm that I could feel. I had neoadjuvant chemo and it cleared the cancer up in it. Hoping for b9 results for you.

Thank you Kay..........I am just a basket case this mornin'............ oy!

All I am doin' is crying......woke up that way,and hoping it will go away soon!!
I am not a whinner!
I will hang in there.....and be strong and fight, just right now.....guess it is a "I'm tired"......feeling this morning......maybe I should go back to bed and get up on the right side???? hehee

Hi! I haven't been on the website in a long time but I'm wondering if anyone else has had any eye problems while taking tamoxifen. I started on tamoxifen in Jan 2010 & noticed that summer that I was having blurry vision intermittently (while reading) in the left eye. I thought that my glasses were either on crooked some of the time or that I needed a new prescription. However, it's now been 1 1/2 yrs & the ophthalmologists have no answer other than to try drops for dry eye which has not cured the problem. I'm thinking of asking the oncologist to switch me to something else.0
