Carol2, thanks for the encouragement.
Kks_rd, good for you for going topless. I feel myself getting braver every day. Maybe I will go topless soon.
Welcome Nancy. We're all follicle watchers here!

welcome Nancy I recommend you take a picture of your head now and then once a month. Stop string in the mirror, when you look back at the pics you will see the progress.

Sharon-thanks for stopping by and reminding us that normal or our new normal is right around the corner.
kks-you'll love going topless
bak94-I had no hair at 5 wks. I don't think most people see any real growth til 6-8wks so hang in there.
KiwiMum-congrats on going topless.
Nancy-never to soon to start looking, but Carol is right, take a pic every wk or month and you'll start to see the progress.
So here I am at 17wks...

Still have a little bald spot in back, but finally getting some ability to move it around a bit.

Nancy, so good to see you here! Yeah, we are both done! 5.5 wks pfc, and still thinking there is some peach fuzz up there...but it may be grey peach fuzz!
Dawn, thanks for sharing the pics, you look great!

Thanks for the welcome all! I know it's too early to look for serious hair growth, but I do have a question about my hair. Since my third treatment, I've grown about a quarter inch of what I can only call sparse stubble, maybe because it's mostly gray
, but some of it is getting long enough to grab. This also happened after my second treatment, but then got loose and mostly came out, but this last growth is firmly attached. has anyone else had experience with this? My hair normally grows quite fast.0 -
Shelley, congrats on being that much closer to hair! Loving everybody's pics. Michelle, I showed my husband your red hair and now he wants me to do red too lol! Guess he's ready for a "new" woman.

LOL, Nancy, go for it when the time comes! I'm going to the store later today to get another bottle of color as I've had quite a bit of growth since my last "treatment." I have found that getting a brown color brings out the red because my base color was coming in very "salt and pepper." My DD tried to get me to buy a red wig back when I was getting started with chemo. I should have - I've had lots of compliments with this color! I'm using L'Oreal Chestnut Brown that is supposed to last for 28 shampoos. It's been about five weeks since I did it last and the color is still there, just grown out a bit.
By the way, I had a little stubble towards the end of chemo, too. And I had quite the growth spurt 3 weeks PFC. We were in Florida and it looked like you could almost see it growing. I've always had fast growing hair so I think it does make a difference.

Thanks Michelle, you always have such good info to share. My DH wanted me to buy
a red wig too, but I balked. I live in a small town -- not enough anonymity lol.0 -
Carroll2 - You look AMAZING!! I need to post some updated hair shots...I was deciding that I really disliked my new hair but I have held off cutting it, and now I blow it dry for 5 minutes in the morning and just finger-comb it and it stays in place just fine - no more product needed (unless I'm going out - then I funky it up a little bit). So as I start to like my chemo curls, I'm sure that must mean they are ready to disappear, lol!
klg49 - My brows and lashes completely fell out right near the end of my chemo and when they came in - wow - I was plucking my eyebrows within two weeks. They have thinned out again and are taking forever to fill back in - I use a brow pencil in spots and my lashes are very thin. Ah well. I know a few ladies whose brows never came back AT ALL so I'm not going to complain (too much....)

My lashes and brows thinned out again too at 5 months PFC. There were new ones coming right in behind them though, so just added a little more pencil and liner. They are coming in fast again, but really is this necessary?

Almost 6 months PFC and my eyebrows are thinning again. It is not as bad as the time they disappeared 2 months PFC. So far the eyelashes are hanging in there. Could be worse.

Thanks Margie tomorrow it will be one year since my last chemo. I think that the curls are lossening up now, could just be the weight of the lenght now. I too take 5 mins to blow it out but I use gel and hair spray to keep it tame.

Ladies, my hair extensions have been ordered! This time next week maybe I will have shoulder length hair. I will keep you posted....

Is everyone familiar with the expression 'it's enough to make your hair curl'?
Well, chemo is enough to make my hair (fall out and later) curl!0 -
I am 5 months pfc and I noticed I have small patch of my eyebrows missing on one side
hopefully they come back in soon!0 -
ksmatthews- Me too Im 3 weeks out of last treatment, looks like a landing strip on my left eyebrow haha...... I look kinda silly with a strip missing but hey Im BALD to I kinda match..... I have maybe 9 eyelashes between both eyes too.... I do have peach fuzz and 5O'clock shadow coming in wooohoooo

I wonder why the brows fall out like that? I still have the fronts, although they've receded some too, but the back ends are gone. I'm only 3 days PFC, so I'm sure I have more loss to look forward to. Eyelashes are hanging in enough to put mascara on anyway. They're puny to begin with (stick straight, blonde and thin. Certainly the only part of my body like that!) so if they go, I hope they come back thick, dark and curly lol! One good thing about this, I never used an eyebrow pencil much, even though I should have, but after the look good feel better class, I've gotten damned good at it!

I have a theory that chemo is harder on the "weak" or finer hairs. The hairs at the two sides of my widow's peak were very fine "triangles"--so it appeared full, but it was finer than the rest of the hair. I hasn't come back. My eyebrows and lashes are a shadow of their former glory.
There has been a lot of posting on the cycles of brows, they are apparently different than head hair. I certainly had falling out for a year post chemo!

Racy - how long does your hair need to be have the extensions put in? I am so going to do this too... Not wanting to wait 2 years for my hair to grow to its former length :-)

I am not horrified by my hair at 9 months. It is almost a haircut I'd choose....maybe. I had long hair before. Carrol has some wonderful pics. I can only hope my hair looks like hers at a year. It looks promising. Really!!! Carrol, thanks to you to be brave enough to post your progression!!

Are any of you using biotin shampoo? If so, what do you think and what brands have you tried? I'm taking supplements, but my hairdresser recommended biotin shampoo for growth.

I am getting a bit worried about my hair. 2 days shy of 6 weeks pfc and not much progress at all! Barely any stubble and just a few random inch long white hairs, it's very strange! I had dark thick hair with a bit of grey before.

MizMarie, my hair is about 2 inches. The method that I am using has a toupé piece that covers the top. I will try to post more info and pics next week.

Michelle -- love the new pic!
Should have perused this thread more thoroughly -- I see there are several comments on biotin shampoos.

The reason the hairs fall out (including eyebrows) is because the new hairs are coming in. Eyebrow hair falls out all the time but we don't notice it because it doesn't fall out all at once. It takes a while for our hair to get out of sequence again. I've heard it can take up to 2 years for the eyebrows and lashes. I think I'm on the 2 year plan.

Thanks, Nancy! Here's a picture of the back...
I think it's pretty good for 10 weeks PFC! It's hitting the top of my collar, yeah!!! I'm expecting it to be really curly in about a month. I was curly to begin with, the question is just how unruly will it be? I don't really care - all hair is good!
