Mak....that is such good news -- whew!!! Glad you got in on this and hope all the "good" news just keeps on coming.

Lago.....loved the video and that dead-pan answer that the men got.

Probably no drinking here -- though there are some friends I need to see so may be one or two in the next couple of days.  We ( at least at this point ) have no special plans.  I'll be checking into a couple of things -- like a movie --- something we haven't done together yet....in the whole 37 yrs. of being together.....be in a movie theater at New Yrs.

As always, as the above quote mentions....I am grateful for everything because it has made me who I really am, and the fact that having had the dire medical issues that got me here, allowed me to expand so much in love, friendship, and caring on a level I never dreamed possible. I can't thank this disease for too much -- we all had to suffer for our growth, but it was a GIANT catalyst for that growth to happen and in that way I can feel ok about it.  I think I accept a lot of other parts of my existence much easier because to me I went through the worst -- and found so much of the best afterward.  So I relax, because I am strong --- because I chose the path of life and kept that thought alive....even when circumstances only left a tiny glimmer of light.  It is my honor and pleasure always to try and hold up a light for anyone else who is struggling, uncertain, fearful, or in any way unsure of what comes next.

I wish for all of you a wonderful ending to 2011 and a joyful, healthful and happy 2012

Many Healthful, Healing and very Happy Hugs,

    Jackie

    Morning! Happy 2012!!!!

Mak....such great news! I am so happy for you. Loved the pics on fb of your family....such beautiful kids! (Mom's not bad either! )

As I suspected I was in bed by 9:30, asleep by 10. DH came up by 10:30 and he said be shut off the TV before 11. Fireworks woke us up at midnight so we hugged a new year hug and went right back to sleep. We are quite the party animals!!!!

As I was reflecting back on 2011 while making the bed yesterday I had an epiphany of sorts. Why exactly do I make the bed every morning, just to tear it apart in 14 hours? No one sees it. So not counting childhood I took 34 yrs of marriage x 365 days each year (yes...I sorta make up the bed on vacay) and I have made this "darn" bed....over 12,300 times. Huh. Interesting tidbit for you...

So.....who's NOT making their bed today?????? Let's start 2012 out right! Anybody with me????

LOL! A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all! Thanks for always being here.....

I make the bed when I change the sheets and company is coming over. I don't even have a bed spread just a nice duvet over the down comforter. Last time I made my bed regularly is when my bed was also my couch (futon bed/couch) in college and just after when I was single… and even then it wasn't every day.

So yes my bed isn't made.

We slept through New Years as well. Went to a late lunch at Sun Wah then saw a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Seemed everyone at that movie was over 60 except me. Movie was OK. It dragged a bit. Last week's movie was better (Lady With The Dragon Tattoo). I think this was the only 2 times we went to the movies in 2011. Must get out more.

So I hope all will enjoy the new year. We're having our family holiday celebration tonight. Maybe I'll finally get my drink.

Good Morning today.  Going to be having almost 50 mph winds today.  Not what I ordered, of course.  Hmmm, I make my bed sort of everyday -- take the pillows off and pull everything up and straighten.  Otherwise....there are dents in the pillows all the time from where the cats get up and lay....used to look awful, but not now.

I had about the same New Yr. as everyone.  Rather than the show ( we have so many movies here -- given to us  -- that we have not watched ) we decided to just go out to dinner to Los Cabos.  They make a mean Margarita --- not chinsey ( oops, spell check wouldn't open far enough on that word )   with the tequila this restaurant.  So, one was enough.....of course, maybe it was that I have sworn off for some time though dh said he was feeling it too.

Came home and turned on tv until we could find a movie we both wanted to watch....got interested in program that was on, and fell asleep long before midnight -- so had our regularly scheduled old folks evening -- even on New Years.  Some life repetition  is not boring as it feels so natural and normal.  I'm hoping you all have a wonderful day today.

    Hugs, Jackie

Good Morning and a Happy 2012,

Since we are taking a survey, I straighten-up my bed every morning (smooth out sheets, fluff up pillows...) because I like to go to sleep in a somehow tidy bed. But then I also iron my pillow cases after they come out of the dryer :-)

Went to a very early dinner with friends last night to a cool Italian diner in Bucktown called Club Lucky. Then watched a movie and read a book for a while. Went to bed at 2am - for some reason just did not want to go to sleep.

It sounds so very windy out there.

Mak - Yay for the shrinkage!

Attached a picture of my 3 babies as my avatar - hopefully it worked.

I actually made it to about 1:00 am last night.  Early in the evening, we had our little family party for my now 4-year-old:  pizza, presents and cake.  After that we played with some of the presents and then the kids went to bed.  DH and I stayed up for champagne and caviar.  Everyone slept in a bit this morning.

I don't make my bed unless someone is coming over that might possibly come upstairs.

I am feeling better today than I have since surgery.  Happy New Year to all!  Lisa

Happy New Year to all of you. I know that 2012 will be a better year, a healthier year and NED for all. That is my New Year's wish for all of us here. I had a wonderful New Year's with friends as we partied until 2 am. We watched past video's of our theme New Year's parties with our kids and laughed and cried as they were bringing back so many wonderful memories. All of our kids are adults now so seeing their little faces and costumes was priceless.

As I toasted in the New Year I am so grateful for the wonderful friends, support, and care I have received here. You all are very special women and my wish to all of you is a healthy and happy New Year. Each of you have a special place in my heart. Jackie's quote says it all.....another fresh new year is here. So let's live life to the fullest...enjoy....surround yourself with love and friendship. Life is to short....so enjoy!!!!

Today is a chill day for me....as I go back to school this week and then the fun begins. So enjoy your day. Wendy...yes I make my bed as I have 10 pillows on it. No to ironing the pillow cases. lol

Have a wonderful fun filled day today. The Bears are playing their last game sniff.

Remember to be healthy...be happy and enjoy yourself.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL !!!!!

Morning everyone.   I was a lame-o and was in bed with the kids by 11pm.  I told them that we would stay up and bang pots and pans. We never made it. But awoke warm and snuggly to the two cutest kids on the NW side of the city. Good way to start the year.

Besides staying NED in 2012, any other New Year's resolutions?  Mine is to spend more time with friends and have date nights with the husband. We go out often, but it usually with the family. I need to spend more time with girlfriends and date time with Jim.

Oh, and I make my bed every morning.  I started doing this just about 5 years ago.  And its a habit now.  I am the only one in the house that makes the beds daily.  This includes my daughter's and son's beds too. Unmade beds and dishes in the sink drive me batty.

Happy New Year to all you wonderful IL ladies!!! I slammed the door on 2011 with champagne at midnight and toasted you all.....may we all find nothing but blue skies and sunshine in 2012!!!! Thanks so much for helping me get through what I firmly refer to as "my worst year ever". Had I not found the support of all of you I might not have made it this far as well as I have!!!!!

I start my tamoxifen today....I can't believe I'm at this stage, finally.... It seemed so far away. Hair watch 2012 is ON!!!! :)

Mak....hugs to you, I really like hearing there's shrinkage already from your new trial. Kicking a$$ and taking names in 2012!

HUGS to you all.....thanks for truly understanding..... We've all walked in each others shoes in one way or another. Some of you even carried me a little the past 8 months. Thank you!!! :)

I am so happy to read all of your bright and happy posts! Happy 2012 to you all. May it be filled with joy, health and good times with those you love!!! May your faith always be greater than your fear or doubt too!

We are just starting the drive back fom.our week in Michigan. It was a wonderful visit....I miss everyone so much!

I do not make the beds much lately..I really don't care so much. I am more obsessed about a clean kitchen.

I am ready for a NEW year...no BC and all surgeries are done. When I think about where I was at this time last year....it feels really good to be here instead. To those of you just starting out....just remember how much difference one year can make. You will be in a better place at this time next year.

Mak...that is GREAT NEWS on shrinkage.....(now that we are using the word shinkage...all I can do is giggle and think about that old Seinfeld episode with shrinkage! LOL! Anyone remember that?)

Since I could not make the holiday lunch I was wondering if any of you west side gals want to meet up for lunch or something out in the burbs. Anyone interested? Now that the holidays are over it would be easier to plan. Let me know.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Happy 2012!!!  Here's to starting the year off right! Although my NYE was a quiet one.  Dinner at home and rented Tree of Life (a little heavy for the festive night-the movie, not the dinner). Was able to sleep on my side a bit-woo hoo!

Mak-great news!  Keep up that shrinking!!

Char2010- I love Club Lucky.  Good martinis and good food in a fun neighborhood.

Looking forward to an IL Ladies outing in the new year!

Just for the record, we have a duvet so don't make the bed so much as "pull up the covers".Wink

Great news, Mak!  I mean GREAT!

We are off to zoolites at Lincoln Park again...this time with the grandkids.  I feel badly as a baboon just recently lost her newborn there, so not sure if the that house will be open.

I have to make my bed every morning or I obsess about it being unmade....just easier to make it.  I am married to Mr. Tidyman, and have been conditioned to do certain things.  He is so helpful around the house, however, so it is all good.

Just checking back in and laughing! I lasted until about 10am and then ran upstairs and made the bed...with all 9 pillows! I too love ironed cases but I just smooth and fold them...almost like ironing.

Any resolutions for 2012? I am decluttering for sure. I have too much stuff that I have no idea why I still have... Time to get it out if here and into someone else's basement. Anybody need any stuff????

    Happy New Years everyone!

Mak-glad to read your news and hope it continues to get better and better.

Wendy - you crack me up!   I "pull up the covers" every morning. I like to get into a made bed at night.

Spunky-  Wishing you continued healing and good night's sleep!

Hugs to those going through tx.

Good morning everyone.  I'm laughing too.  I have this vision we all send each other our "stuff".  It is so much easier to be ruthless with someone else's than your own.  Soooo, where do I send mine if I agree to take Wendy's.

Hope you are all going to have a fantastic day today.

My 2012 resolutions: continue to workout with trainer and start boxing lessons also learn how to meditate - I guess I must have a lot of pent-up stress that I need to get out :-). And decluttering is always at the top of the list, especially now that I live in a one bedroom apartment with two cats - but at least no guy to take up space.

Funny story about NY resolutions.  DH and I went to one of our favorite restaurants in the city last night and sat next to this man who was hosting a dinner with his extended family and he was such a control freak. Guests were late and he was calling each one on the cell to see when they were coming. Then he insisted on ordering for everyone, drinks and then their  dinner.  We noticed conversation was stiff at the table and the less talk, the more he wanted to structure everything.  He was very loud!  So in some effort to stimulate some talk, he suggests that each person share a NY resolution with the table.  They each seemed so earnest and came up with some resolutions (drink less, go to church more often, work on the overeating issuex, , etc.)  DH and I were giggling as it was sad, but funny.  When it was the  control freak's  turn to give his resolution, he had the nerve to say he didn't have one yet!  DH started laughing and he  glanced over at us!

My NY resolution should be to refrain from eavesdropping in restaurants!
