Speaking of hair, so glad mine is starting to grow but once it started it doesn't seem to be growing fast enough.  HOWEVER, the hair on my face is going crazy.  Is it the Tamoxifen or the post chemo effects?  I was on Taxotere and Carboplatin along with Herceptin.  The fuzz is everywhere and getting worse by the day.  Anyone else????  It's like a cruel joke!

ILBoysMom Yes, lots of us got the baby fuzz on our face right after chemo. I used a little hand-held shaver called a "Clio" (looks like a pen and you can buy it at Target, Walgreens, etc) to buzz it off. I had to do it twice on my cheeks and jawline and it has not come back. My DH laughed and said it looked like fuzzy dustbunny balls when it came off-strange stuff! I know some people were worried that it would grow back in dark if they buzzed it off but I have not had that problem at all (and I have naturally dark hair).

ILBoysMom-  Could be the Herceptin.  Herceptin is known to cause slow hair growth, while tamoxifen can cause thinning hair.

IlBoysMom I was on the same cocktail except Anastrozole instead of Tamox. My onc said its the chemo. I still have some but not as long as before. No one seemed to notice is but me. I felt like a giant peach. It was on my ears and shoulders too. If the sun was behind me I had this "glow". It takes time but will go away. Like I said mine isn't quite as bad now and I'm almost a year PFC.

I have the fuzz and I'm not any AI so it must be chemo.  I think it's stopped growing and no one except me seems to notice it.

Yikes, just bought my first  (post chemo) haircolour. My hair is only about an inch long. but if I am going to go topless the colour (or non existing colour) need to change.  Time to "wash that gray(white) right out of my hair ;-] Says dark golden blond on box, wonder what it will turn out as.. I used to be a redhead.....

Ossa - that's exactly how I felt about my hair when it first came in!  Although my natural color is salt and pepper, which I had actually never seen due to decades of coloring, the dark auburn color is working pretty well for me.   Good luck with the blondish color - I found I had to choose a color quite a bit darker than I would normally choose.  And the first time I colored it, it came out very light.  The next two times gave me much better results.

About hair coloring... I finished chemo 5/10/11, used some L'Oreal product in early August and it didn't really take, so I had it professionally colored... that worked.

As for face fuzz... I noticed the fuzz in mid July. I used scissors and laid them across my face and clipped... I did not feel comfortable using a razor... Some came back so I did it again (Sept) but don't have any problems now... plucked a few prominent hairs as well.

Well the dark golden blond did not work =( all it did was tone down the white... Think I will go get a dark auburn,, love the colour of your hair

Have used the dark golden blond before and it always came out strawberry blond, not this ttime though

I used to be a dark auburn but when my stylist used it after chemo it came out to red, although a nice color. We changed product all together. More brown now.

I have "the fuzz" face as well. Quite hate it actually.

Dyed my hair (I use the term " hair" loosely) at 13 weeks PFC to cover up the grey/black. I used Garnier, semi-permanent, medium brown. It turned the white/grey pink. Not a good look. I think I will wait a while and have the hairdresser do it.

Ossa - One thing I figured out about using the semi-permanent color...I leave it on for 20 minutes, not 10 as suggested.  I am making the assumption that my hair is "resistant" at this point.  The longer time made a big difference in how well the color took.

Hi everyone!  Here's a photo update. This picture was taken today, about just shy of 4 months PFC. (I've decided it's time to count in months, not weeks - yay!)  Oh, and you can see my eyelashes and eyebrows are fully back (have been for at least a month). No makeup since it's lazy Sunday Wink

Kay I would pay to look like you without make-up Tongue out I really like your curl.

BTW my hair dresser keeps the product in a lot longer than he used to. The new gray is really hard to cover above my ears.

Kat - your hair looks fabulous, but your skin tone is even better!  Wish I looked that "rosy" without help!

I have three taxol tx left out of 12 and my hair has started to come in. Thank goodness.  I cant believe how grey/white it is. I had some grey prior but nothing like this. So wondering, is the grey/white my new color, or will it eventually turn to normal brown color? Feels like chemo aged me 15 years.

Thats chemo white... the chemo strips the color out of our hair... your hair color will mostly return.

kat looks good, you have more curl than I do, I have that in the back, but the top and sides not so much.  I hate the curl?  Do you like it?  I am thinking of going and buying a mini flatiron to try to calm it down.

cdairth--my 'dye job' came out exactly as yours.  I couldn't believe i was seeing some pink in my color.  But its a 8-12 washing out dye and I only left it on for about 15 minutes.

I shaved the facial peach fuzz lightly with a dry razor.  The fuzz seemed more noticeable with the super short hair.

I don't know if I can go a week without looking at my hair, but I'll try, too.

No way that I could go a week without looking...not to mention my DH walking by and rubbing my head...LOL.  I'm still "chia mom" for the moment!   The wall behind the sink is one big mirror so there is no escaping the view.

I may try the dry razor trick on the fuzz.

Ccjj - your color will most likely start to return in a couple of weeks.

Looking great kat!  Your skin is beautiful too!

ksmatthews - as we seem to be on the same schedule - I'm 6 months PFC this week - and same hair - I'm curly in the back but straighter on top ...  I bought a mini straightener 1/2"  - it works great and helps a lot!  Got a cheap one a target but it works great for now!  Good luck!

Anyone else have dreams where you have long hair?  I do!  I miss it :(

MamaV, I was in the pharmacy today and ahead of me was a woman with incredibly thick, beautiful hair in a rich auburn color. For the first time in my life pretty much, I was drooling jealously over another woman's attribute. So weird. I am becoming slightly obsessed with hair, lol.

MamaV - so funny you mention dreams long hair.  Last night I had a dream I had my long red hair again and I went for a touch up on the roots to my regular hairdresser.  I don't know what she did but I had a bleached white strip down the center of my head.  LOL.

Sounds like we are all obsessed with hair ( or should I say lack of)Frown.. I even look in my magnifying mirror every day, hoping I will see more hair and som colourSmile. Try to tell myself not to look for a few days, but find myself studying my head...

    Kat

Love, love your hair. Nice to see a fellow red head.. Think that is close to my natural.. can't quite remember, been colouring it for so longSealed

Happy hairday everyone, may each day bring you some more hair and good health
