Home from exchange. Thrilled to be done. Went into OR at 12:30 and home by 5:30 or so. PS is happy, will be a mummy til Wednesday, but can see cleavage! Arms are sore, along with rest, will take percosette overnight but still manageable!

This is a big yay me day, the TE's are not built for scuba diving, so getting the implants is not just next step on road to reconstruction, it is a huge one on my journey back underwater!

Thanks for all the good thoughts. MargieC, best of luck! Cheers, Lisa

Hi all. I made it through my exchange surgery ok. There was one complication. They couldn't find a vein that would hold up for my IV I was wide wake in the OR 30 minutes while they poked me 3 times in the right wrist/hand, 2 times in the right foot and 3 times in the left foot to finally get the IV going. I have a port and I was getting frustrated that they wouldn't use it (something about the OR team is not trained to access them). I believe my PS is going to say somethingvto the hospital about what happened. He was also getting frustrated watching me lay therevwith tears rolling done my face. He has always calls me his little animal because of my pain threshold.

I can't wait to see the new girls. Right now I have on a surgical bra and I am not remove it till myvfollow up Thursday.

For those of you yet to have your exchange it can be a bit harder then the doctors tell you. it is a relief to get the TE out, but I am in more pain right now then I was with my BMX. PS went in this time under the breast (BMX scares had healled really nice and the skin was very thin there and he didn't want to mess them up). I still have feeling under the breast so that is why the pain is worse.

I am just glad this part is done.

Yay, Margie- Welcome to the other side! Glad you are done with those TE's. Hope your pain improves soon. My dr used the same incisions so my pain was not too bad. It was mostly from the fat grafting sites.

Margie...I am so thrilled for you to get your te's out finally! But that stinks about the trouble with the iv...I had read on one of your earlier posts you were deciding between the style 20's and 45's. I am curious what you ended up getting? I just met with my ps and he says for my body type that he would recommend the extra high profile 45's. Again Congrats on the new arrivals!

marjie congrats on getting closer to the end of this journey. I had trouble with the IV also, I did not have my port any more at that point, They stuck me in the arm, hand, foot and it ended up in my neck which was awful. They said they think I was dehydrated possibly from wearing the anti nausea patch the night before the surgery. But I did not have any nausea this time.

Jennifer -- i went with style 45 extra high profile. After living with the TEs at 500cc the 45s at 460cc seem much smaller. my PS told me before surgery if I am not happy with these down the road he can switch them out and my insurance with pay for them. But I would have to really unhappy to go through this again.

Carrol-- I thought my IV experience was bad but your was much worse -- the neck -- the foot and hand was bad enough.

Margie, sorry about the multi-needle stabs. I have had issues too, mentioned it to my pre-op nurse, she was an emergency nurse for a long time and nailed it on the first stab! Hope you are feeling better.

2 days out and I feel significantly better today, soreness in my arms is eased, now just tight all around (had LAT recon so back is tight too). Overall, no complaints, waiting to unwrap and shower tonight when DH gets home, want the moral support, I know in my brain it's not the finished product...

Happy healing to those done, and hang in there to those waiting. Cheers, Lisa

Congrats to scuba_duchess and margie...glad you've completed your exchange surgeries. I went to PS yesterday for the unveiling....3 days post op and I am very pleased with the results so far. Still a bit sore. I stayed a small size, like a B and my PS did a nice job placing the implants. Don't think there will be a need for any further surgery or revisions. Hope everyone is recovering well.

Tenaj, I am a C and PS wants me in a sports/compression bra for the next 4 weeks (24 hours per day). No underwires. I go see him in 2 weeks... Seems like every PS has their own approach. Good luck!

My PS said to just wear a sports bra for the next two weeks until I see him again and then I'll ask when I can switch to something other than the fashionable sports bra.

Saw my PS last week and he agreed my right TE had moved over to the side. It hasn't rotated and he didn't feel it will cause any problems for the Exchange Surgery planned for 1/23. He said he'd stich the new one in a little tighter.

Do have a couple of questions:

Why do some have drains placed and some do not? Is it something with the extent of the surgery or more PS preference? My PS doesn't usually place drains in the TE exchange surgery.

What lifting restrictions did you have and for how long? My PS told me back in October to not lift over five pounds. I didn't ask but by December, I started lifting a little more (a gallon of milk once in awhile and the 10+ pound Christmas ham). I don't know if the lifting caused the problem with my TE moving but this time around, I'll be sure to check with my PS before moving beyond the lifting limits.

What about carrying a purse? I didn't for quite awhile and then just carried one on my shoulder with a few things in it. I've found that I've gradually been adding more things (a few more credit cards for example, makeup, checkbook, calendar, etc.) and wonder if it's been a little too much weight on my shoulder (well below the 5 pounds though!).

The information everyone provides is so helpful! Thank you.

Margie..thanks for the reply. I am filled to 440 currently and feel pretty big. My ps said he will switch them out to a bigger size. He said to live with these for 2 weeks and then decide if I want another fill. I will check back in with you in a few weeks to see how they are settling in. Thanks for your help:)

Can anyone tell me how to email whippitmom for correct sizing? Im filled to 340ccs right now and one more time for another 40ccs.  Surgery scheduled for Feb to exchange to a size B.  I am 5'3 and 122lbs, I just want to make sure we are doing the right shape/size.

     Thanks!
