I'm 14 weeks PFC and had a small trim today to tidy up the flicky bits. I was trying to get it to look more like a real haircut.
I've also got eyelashes long enough to mascara. Yippee!!

kiwimum you look just like me at 14 weeks. People you don't know are going to tell you they love your short cut. You look pretty hip.0

Awesome, Kiwimum! I'm considering getting a little trim, too. My "sideburns" are ridiculous and my neckline needs some serious help!

KIWIMUM def looks like you cut your hair to a new hip style. It suits your pretty face.

Kiwwimum. Your hair looks great. I'm 15 weeks and I don't have near as much hair as you. You're doing great!

Roll call for measuring ... Back is 2 1/4", top is 2 1/4", front it 2". I thought it wasn't growing much, but the last time I measured it was 1 7/8" ... slowly but surely!
Kiwi - looking great!

Robo, we need to add a category to Freud's inventory - "eyebrow envy"

I say Kiwi's brows are too good. She must fill them in a little bit.

This hair thing is exhausting me. Like many of you, I am 14 weeks PFC. I am at about the same growth stage as Kiwi. On other threads so many people are so stressed about the appearance of their new boobs, but me, I would rather have hair than boobs any day!!! We are in the midst of a blizzard here in IL today, so I guess my hats are going to come in handy for a while.
When did most of you go in for a trim or shaping the first time? I mentioned it to my husband that I might want to get the hair over my ears and on the back of my neck trimmed up, and he looked at me like I was crazy.

yea! This may not be a big deal to those who have not gone through what we have, but all of you will understand....I finished AC/Taxol, dd, 8/30. I wore a baseball cap until fall and then was glad to wear wool hats so I blend in with all the other Adirondackers in my community. (Some of them wear wool hats all year! loL. Some also wear shorts with winter coats....)
I found my baseball cap this a.m. and decided to put it on. Too my delight, it is actually quite abit tighter than it used to be (and no, I have not gained wt.), due to my hair becoming thicker - It is not very long, but is coming in thick! I also like the color - It is an evenly gray-frosted black! My hair used to be auburn-brunette and I felt I had to color it all the time - no more coloring for me! 0 -
Lago....just pm'd you. Im in chicag with a couple fee hours if you want to meet.

ILBoys, rule number one for cancer-husbands, or any husbands really, NEVER look at your wife as if she is crazy

ILBoysMom you can have both it just takes time. Personally I'm still waiting for eyebrows. It was my biggest fear since I actually purchased the Anastasia brow duo before chemo AND surgery! Blizzard… I don't consider 4-8 inches a blizzard. I'm going out today and so far still plan on dinner with another bc.org IL Ladies tonight.
When I went topless I had my hair dyed the next day. My hair dresser also trimmed it. He charged less for the color because I used less product and didn't charge me for the "trim". It was also less because I don't need a blow dry either. He still charges me a little more than a 1/3 because again, blow dry is 5 minutes, less product and the cut is more like a trim.0 -
ILBoysMom I got a trim as soon as I had total coverage so that I could go topless with confidence. I think that was at about 4 months. A month or so after that I got a semi permanent color. But it's 13 months now and I have not felt the need to get another trim since. I am trying to grow it back down to my shoulders where it was pre chemo. So I think it seems if my experience is typical at least one haircut to even things out will help it grow out nicely. Once the warm frizzy weather hits I may feel differently.0

ILBoysMom - I am 15 weeks PFC, my hair is about 1 1/2" on top, closer to 2" on the sides and back, and I am thinking about getting a little shaping. If I don't, I'm heading towards the dreaded mullet! I've got way too much hair, too low, scruffy looking, on the back of my neck. And it's the longest hair on my head!

Thanks for the confidence boost ladies.
The trim was really because I don't want a mullet! The back was scruffy at the back of my neck and flicking out - all that baby hair. The sides were also trimmed to tidy up around the ears. The top is definitely the shortest part and not touched.
Lol Lago! Yes there is some help from brow powder! I have been to a brow bar to get them shaped, with the intention that I can now maintain the shape. They are pretty good now but the right one has a few patchy gaps which need powder.
Yes I have colored it. I went to a health shop and bought some natural, non peroxide colour which has worked well. It's mostly to cover the grey!0 -
I think it's important when your hair is first growing back out that you keep it trimmed up. That way it looks more like you have that haircut on purpose. I think I had mine trimmed twice at first but then I haven't done anything now that it's a little longer, but people tell me all the time they like the "style" my hair is cut in.
