Hey goils, just checkin in quick, heading to bed. Am fighting some snifflles and sneezes (ouch, de hurtz!) but okay udder-wise! DorK, glad your Mom is doing okay!
Mema, glad you is here to partay wit de DorK, sorry buts de Scuby is pooped! Luv to youse all!0 -
(((DorK))) I think an altered reality is better than a real reality. I think your mom is happy where she is. My step-grandmother is 82 years old and cracks herself up, laughs for no apparent reason. It sure is better than crying, right? I hope that some day I will find my 'happy' place. And hopefully my daughter Avery will take good care of me when I do!

Drinkin' the scotch tonight, Glenfiddich 15 year. I think I deserve it! I shoveled snow 3 times today - 1pm, 4pm, 7:30pm. I couldn't get my snowthrower started. The snow has finally stopped, we got 6" I think. My back hurts and now I'm just chillin'. Can't drink too much as I promised Avery we'd go sledding tomorrow. Gawd. I'm too old for sledding! lol.
I am once again dateless on a Friday night. The latest guy from the dating web site turned out to be a scammer. After a week of e-mailing (no live conversations) he asked me for $700. I reported him to the dating site. I think I will just hang out with Pants and Jock tonight. I like younger men anyway.

Cheers!!!

Every year, Fred and Ethel would spend a day at the State Fair. Every year, Fred would say, "Ethel, I'd like to ride in that airplane."
And every year, Ethel would say, "I know, Fred, but that airplane ride cost ten dollars, and ten dollars is ten dollars."
One year, while they were at the fair, Fred said, "Ethel, I'm 74 years old. If I don't have a ride in that airplane this year, I may never get another chance."
"Fred, that airplane ride cost ten dollars, and ten dollars is ten dollars," Ethel replied.
The pilot happened to overhear them and said, "Listen folks, I'll make you a deal. I'll take you both up for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word, I won't charge you anything. But, if you say one word, then you'll have to pay the ten dollars."
Fred and Ethel agreed, so up they went. The pilot did all kinds of rolls and dives, twists and turns, but not a word was heard. He did all his fancy manoeuvres again, but still not a word.
When they finally landed, the pilot turned to Fred and said, "Gosh, I did everything I could think of to get you to yell out, and yet you never said a word."
"Well," Fred replied, "I was going to say something when Ethel fell out, but ten dollars is ten dollars."0 -
Good morning, goils, just a quick before work pop in to the lounge. Want to get an early start today, usual number of people to see but lots of miles in between and the back roads are still a bit slippery in spots, will need to go slow.
DoirK--your Mom is what we health-care types call "pleasantly confused" or "happily confused." Much, much better than confused and angry or upset! Roll with it and enjoy the giggles.
Mema--soreness for a day or so after having a tube put in your ear is common, I also have an infection in that inner ear, so the soreness will last a bit longer until antibiotic ear drops clear it out. It's not bad now, not even tylenol level, it was just after the procedure, which hurts like the dickens for a second or two, and makes me remember other much less pleasant bc-related procedures that were very, very painful, and winds up my nerves that made me reach for the Tylenol #3 Thursday. If I didn't have that left over from surgery I would have been reaching for my xanax instead! I do find with this kind of stuff until I get home, then I either need to take something to deal with it or I get really wound up and end up with and anxiety attack or a really long crying jag. Although maybe I should opt for the crying. My counselor says we only have 3 releases for stress and tension: laughing, crying and orgasm. Since the last isn't an option for me (still studying to be the world's oldest virgin outside a convent) and laughing isn't going to happen in that situation, then all I have left is crying. It already seems like I cry too easily and too much. Sigh.
Sadie says "Hi" to everyone: Woof Woof
Scuby--REST!!!!! Your body is using up energy to heal, to clear out the last traces of anesthesia, and to fight off whatever you're trying to catch, so don't divert any energy into anything else!
Happy Saturday, all!

Lisa, that is nice that your DH is catering to you. Embrace it girl! Glad you are laying low and hope you feel better soon. Looks like you are being a good girl!
Husker, hope you like your new Kahlua and all 3 ways sounds good!
NM, I have never used the product, but I am gonna try! As for the seeds, I don't know, but I guess worth a try, eh? I am a big cry baby too, for me, I am very sensitive. My DH can look at me the wrong way, and I will cry! I usually try to hide it, or stop it all together, but find that actually makes it worse!
DorK, your folks are hilarious! Glad you mom is feeling better, or at least she thinks she is. My dad is slipping in the memory area, and everyone is always saying how sad it is. Me, personally, I do not think it is such a bad thing. If something bad goes wrong, in a few moments or hours or days, they have forgotten about. They usually remember things that happened a long time ago, until it really progresses. And then they can forget their spouses and children. My paternal grandma had it too, and when it was at it's worst, she was in a nursing home, she had fallen and broke her hip too, but she thought my dad (her son) was her father. So, that is just my 2 cents worth. (I see now that several of the others have the same thought) Gosh, you know what they say "great minds.........."
Ya Beans, stop and smell the roses, or at least come in for a drink. You can down a few real fast!
Mema, yes we do do a LOT of leaning in here. And yes we have a great group of gals/support. Hey, I'll drink to that! Just FYI, wall o water is the competition; I have EZ Wall Plant Protectors! LOL, but I will let you call them what you like, I know what you mean, I just had to razz ya!
DorKiest, you silly woman! Cracking up at you and John Boy's mole!
Hey Jaybird, glad to see you enjoying your goot scotch. Have fun sledding, but don't hurt yourself! Bummer bout the scammer, hang in there. You are a beautiful woman, and some handsome hunk will find you!!!
Bernie, you sure find the BEST jokes! Thank you!
Well, we went to the movies yesterday and saw Joyful Noise, with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifa. The movie was GREAT. The story line, the gospel singing, EVERYTHING! Can't tell you how many times I cried, but I laughed my behind off too. Just all around a great, make ya feel good, movie and I highly recommend it. Sunny and suppose to get up to 62 degrees here today, but with winds gusting to 50 mph. I sure hate spring here, and that stoopit wind.
How about a "Pick Me Up" for the DOTD? Actually it's Harry's Pick Me Up, but who the heck is Harry?
1 Teaspoonful Grenadine. (1 barspoon Fee's American Beauty Grenadine)
1 Glass Brandy. (2 oz Cerbois VSOP Armangac)
The Juice of 1/2 Lemon. (About 3/4 oz Lemon Juice)Shake well and strain into medium sized wine glass, and fill balance with Champagne (Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne Brut). (Lemon Peel.)

Tied - hope ur dreams of new foobs were all that n more!
Bernie - needed the laugh dis morn. Yest was a bad day...today will be better tanks in part to u!
NM - I hear what ur saying, tanks for splainin the ear thing, hope it clears up soon. Does ur counselor not approve of a wittle dwinkie now n den....I kno, it's a depressant, so can make things worse. LOL bout the 'convent'...mebe I send u someting to help...ya kno, in the brown wrapper so's no body knos...j/k. Have a great day lady!
Goldie - OMG....stupid eh. Guy at bar other day was arguing w/me bout walla water thingy...SOO glad u cleared that up for me. Won't talk about da competitor n e more...lol. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts about Joyful Noise. It looked like a good movie, glad it's that and more! N u kin raz me ...I kin take it...LOL
Crying?!?! Seems I'm in same boat. In middle of posting last night I was watching some videos of Lynn (who passed last month). I shouldn't have done that I guess, cuz I jes cried n cried, made myself sick. But, today, a better day...I think I have been floating in this space somewhere between this BC is not real and it IS real since my dx. I think lately I've been getting REAL about it, wrapping my mind around it. Oh I dunno....but I do think I feel better today.
Got lots to do, will b back later for a little DOTD.

Wow 13 hours without a post? Hard to believe!
Drink update #2: today I tried kalua peppermint mocha with Diet Coke. It was okay, not great. Straight up was better. Hot chocolate is the next attempt.
Went to a cousins 60th wedding anniversary party. I thanked her for sending me money when I was in chemo; she wanted me to buy a rose bush, which I did and it bloomed beautiful pink. She said she hoped that now that I was better she hoped I would go and get drunk off my ass! She is 80 years old! So funny. Then I saw her daughter and she said to her sister-in-law, "she's the one we were praying for; the one with the breast!" uhhh, yeah, I guess that's me! No filters in my family, geez.
Tomorrow going to see Blue Man Group; hope the weather isn't icy, like they are saying. Anyone else seen them? Hear they are good.
Hope you are all well, too many under the weather lately. You'd think all this alcohol would be killing off the germs, no?0 -
Where are all the Loungettes tonight? It's Saturda night Ladies!!
Disclaimer-My "Y" button is sticking and I'm not gonna worry bout it, so just read it in, lol!
So you all know bout my wonderful boyfriend, who, this morning took the bos to the International Sportsmen's Expo--that meant I got to sleep in a ver quiet house till NOON! He's awesome!! On top of the nice rest he brought me the sexiest hoodie....has a sex, silhouette of a stilleto wearing girl holding a Tuna....says "Tuna, the other pink meat"....lol I LOVE IT! He's the best fisherman/bofriend EVER!!!
Scub-hope ou're resting like a good girl.
Dork-Still praing for your mom and daddy, and you as well.

Two old guys, one 84 and one 87, were sitting on their usual park bench.
The 87 year old had just finished his morning jog and wasn't even short of breath.
The 84 year old was amazed at his friend's stamina and asked him what he did to have so much energy. The 87 year old said, "Well, I eat rye bread every day.
It keeps your energy level high and you'll have great stamina with the ladies." So, on the way home the 84 year old stops at the bakery.
As he was looking around, the lady asked if he needed any help. He said "Do you have any Rye bread?" She said, "Yes, there's a whole shelf of it. Would you like some?" He said, "I want 5 loaves."
She said, "My goodness, 5 loaves ... By the time you get to the 3rd loaf, it'll be hard" He replied, "I can't believe it, everybody knows about this s**t but me."0 -
Cracking me up Bernie, thanks, needed that! Well sniffles are now a full blown cold. Maybe you are right Husker, no alcohol may be the culprit here, just feel to crappy to contemplate drinking anything! Bummed out, need this like a hole in my head. 5 a.m. And have given up trying to sleep any more. Time for some On Demand TV and herbal tea.
Tiedye, glad for good news and for super support, it matters!
Karen, sounds like your shrink friend is pretty straight forward, any chance you could just see her, or is she too close a friend?
Can't page back, so will just wish youse all a lovely day, I may be back to hang out, think I will send DH out to watch football with friends. Cheers!0 -
Good early morning, Loungettes!
Another very quick pop in to ketchup and say HI, gonna be a long day today, nobody wanted to be seen yesterday, everyone wanted to be seen today and tomorrow is too full to shift anyone over. Such is the life of a working gal!
Quick response to the things I remember:
My counselor isn't against drinking, but she is against drinking instead of dealing with feelings. And she has a point, not that I drink THAT much!
Chocolate peppermint kahlua with diet Coke? Not a combo I would have thought of. How is plain kahlua and diet Coke?
Hooray for super high blood counts and no shots!!!!!!!
Scuby--take care of the cold, get lots of rest, dwink lots (I'll let you choose what!) and in a week or so you'll feel much better! I've found that zinc lonsenges or zinc supplements are helpful in shortening a cold's misery.
That Pick Me Up drink looks great! Can we rename it the Pants Pick Me Up? or the Jock Pick Me Up? or the Mr. Big Pick Me Up?
OK, time to get dressed, find more coffee and start subduing the day!

Got to share, just opened the best care package from Kim (NM) and Sadie, it's now doing double duty as post op and common cold care package! Made my day. NM, at least a busy day goes by fast! Am actually looking forward to getting back to work, but think that's gotta wait a day or so until I feel better.
Cheers and Scuby Luv, Lisa0 -
Mema, what was the argument about with the guy at the bar, on the wall o water? Just curious.
Husker, I wouldn't have thought the peppermint mocha kahlua would be good in soda. Now the hot chocolate should be yummy! I am not usually online at night. We live off the grid, and we have our internet turn off at a certain time. And during the week, I am in front of computer ALL day long. So, not what I want to be doing at night too. I have seen Blue Man Group, but only on tv. I do like them.
Bahhhaaawaaaa Tidy, the other pink meat. That is too funny. Yippeeeee on the blood counts. Enjoy your little break!

Hmmmm Karen, how did you feel about your friend telling your DH that the two of you needed to have sex? I guess you WOULD call that a good friend, but sheesh.....not sure if I would like that. Are you on Tamox or Arimidex?
Scubz, sure hope you can kick that cold to the curb.......SOON! Glad you are resting. GOOD SCUBY! Just read about your care package. That was so sweet of you NM and I'm sure that made her day.
NM, now you know we can name drinks whatever we want. Could just use "BOYS...pick me up" LOL. I too, did the zinc and vitamin C when feeling a cold coming on. We always keep some in the cabinet.
DorK, I am sorry you are sad, you have good reason. Just hoping your mom is not in much pain. You and the rest of your family are probably feeling the worst. I heard from a little birdie that it is your mom's birthday, so Happy Birthday to your dear mommy! I found a "Birthday Girl" drink recipe to have in her sailabration. Stella sedz she would sneak some in to mom.
10 mls Red Firewater (Cinnamon Schnapps)
10 mls Green Chartreuse
10 mls Blue Peppermint Schnapps
Layer into a shot glass.
Look at all the pretty colours.
Strongest good-looking shot you'll ever make

Stella and her BESTIES wish mom a Happy Birthday too!

Scuba and NM.....GF is too good of a friend to use professionally....it wouldn't be proper.....and NO it didn't bother me that she told DH that we need to have sex....we were talking about Dx and Tx and the lasting effects and his poor sexless life!!!! I'm no longer on AI's.....march will be 2 years since I stopped taking them....NM...its funny..told my gf that both previous psych and shrink said I shouldn't drink and she gave me this look of why not!!! guess she has a different opinion...and one I like better....she knows the psych and said that she is not what I need....and of course I had come to that conclusion.......
DorK...happy b'day to your mom.....and yes, work does get in the way or way too much fun...but it keeps us out of trouble!!!
gloomy looking out today....not all that cold (40's), but colder than the sunny 60's yesterday....nothing planned today....but I better look at my planner for work and see what I have going on this week and how many reports I have to write and tomorrow is going to be a busy non stop day with no time for paperwork, so may have to do some today.....and maybe I need to start organizing things for taxes.......
Have a good day!!!

Karen I too have a friend not even that close but it would never work to see her professionally even though it is too bad as she is very good. She did set me up with an absolutly fabulous therapst who helped me so much during my divorce. Tragically she was killed shortly after in a car crash. And can't imagine ever finding someone I clicked with like that again. I hope she can find someone for you... it is so hard to be sad and down but I also know it is part of this disease and we all need to find a way to get through it or live with it. I do feel for you.... Just know you are not alone.
Dork, Happy Birthday to you Mom even if she doesn't know it. I'm sorry I know you are having a very rough time as well.
Tiedye- glad you have found such a wonderful SO.
Goldie - I agree - kalua and soda.... don't think I could do that one... Went to our second puppy class and he was a Star! One woman brought a tiny yorkie who looked like a tiny wind up toy! Just hilarious - Alfie was so sweet to the little puppy and they each made a friend... he was so gentle with her which was just very sweet. He is also much more gentle with my son with DS. Animals are truely amazing!

Good Evening My HTL Hotties! I miss you so much and wish I could be here more...I think of you every day with nothing but love in my heart and best wishes. Ciao for now, Cheers and Keep Your Tips Up!

Just wanted to drop a line. I am the husband of a true "trooper". I miss her terrible right now as she decided to extend her trip "one more night". Di went to NYC(her first time) to see her crush Darrin Criss on Broadway. (See "Glee" for the reference). My daughters are seriously jealous. I think her decision to stay the extra night was influenced by some tasty magaritas as she texted me at 3:30 last night, 4:30 EST. She makes me laugh as this is something that she would only do about once a year. Anyway Cheers to all, as I finish my Makers Mark-neat. Goodnight

Drink Update #3: Kahlua and Coke is a common drink, although vodka is usually added as well. However, the peppermint mocha adds a new dimension that I wouldn't necessarily recommend. However, I do give a thumbs up to hot chocolate and this Kahlua combination. Also found some other recipes including one with Bailey's, so my research is not done. It's a tough job...

Back/right hip...still not sure how to describe the area that hurts, is bothering me tonight....DH thinks its soft tissue and I'm not sure what it is...it doesn't hurt when I touch it tough.....see my onc the 23rd of next month so unless it gets worse will wait it out till then....tonight feeling really anxious....not sure why.....well partly I think its when I have work to do for work...or like tomorrow I have a really busy day and going to "fly by the seat of my pants"....sure wish I could get a handle on it all....so enjoying a glass or 2 or 3 of shiraz.....hopefully it will help....its a crazy busy week here for us....DH is gone tomorrow night to wednesday night...then DD leaves Wednesday morning till Friday for Keystone Science School with school......Going to go read....hopefully that will help....wishing everyone sweet dreams and a good begining of the week.....
