I was called "sir' again today by two customers. I wanted to run and hide.

EmmaC, that happened to me yesterday as well. I'm almost 6 months PFC and my hair is a very flat and thin 2 inches. No herceptin to blame. Sometimes I wonder if the slow growth is because something is still wrong with me. I just want to look"normal', and preferably female!!

cdairth, Hugs!  It still stings. I so badly want to feel normal. I wonder when I will get used to this or over it. I wanted to punch them in the throat!

Robo, you look great.  Thanks for posting the pics.  Thanks to all for letting me know I'm not the only one feeling this way.  It really helped.  Today was a much better day for me mentally.

Question for those that have had their tissue expander's removed and implants switched out.  How is the recovery from that surgery?  Mine is March 16th.  Cant wait.  Did you all go home same day? How long till up and moving around, return to work. I have heard 7-10 days as far as lifting, but how about feeling okay and being able to drive, etc?  You don't get more drains do you? Sorry so many questions.. I obviously didn't do a good job when discussing with the surgeon. I was so excited to get it booked and the nurse I spoke with was kind of vague. Just said 7-10 days of no lifting over 10 lbs.

    ccjj..

I am not getting my expander switched out for six months ( finishing rads tomorrow, then healing) a friend had her expanders switched out and was in hospital for 4 hours. Back to work in 2 weeks.. Not much discomfort according to her.. She did have drains, but only for three days

Robo -- loved your 12 weeks PFC pic!  I'm at 12 weeks too and mine looks just like yours especially on top.  Why that one spot is slower filling in is such a mystery.  For those of you who have done permanent hair color, how many weeks pfc did you do it?  I'm thinking of trying it in 2 more weeks.  Did your color take as well as before chemo?

Today I discovered a way to get at least some mascara on my stubby new eyelashes (and not on my face).  I smeared some mascara on a narrow sponge tipped applicator and lightly dabbed it on the lashes.  It worked great!

Robo, I gotta say though that you look pretty smashing even when you are bald. Also, I am pissed that nobody gave me a "F@CK CANCER" hat, lol.

ccjj I dressed myself and then was wheeled out to the car and driven home. The worst part of recovery for me was the fat transfer. That was sore but the exchange was easy. Nothing like the bmx. I didn't have drains but in some cases people do. I personally don't drive if I can't lift my arm on top of the seat when I back up but that's just me. I don't remember if I took the bus to my follow up appointment. It was last June.

Nancy - when I colored my hair the first couple times, the color didn't take very well.  I found leaving it on for twice as long (20 minutes instead of 10) made a big difference.  Actually the last time I did it (a couple weeks ago) I left it on for 30 minutes and that worked the best.  I'm using 28-shampoo color, not permanent stuff.  I may switch over next time, now that my hair has some length (using the term loosely).

Robo - you do look beautiful!  That picture of the hair by the sink says it all, doesn't it?

Robo, thanks for posting your "worst makeover ever" photos. You're beautiful with or without hair. The photos tell the story of a plucky, strong woman.

I'm just 12 days PFC and am so eager to get hair back.

    Hi all,

I have 3 Taxol tx to go (3 weeks, wow!) and my hair is about 1/4" long, some white but more very, very dark (not my normal color).  I look like a noviatiate entering a convent (or a convict--just give me some tats and an orange jumpsuit Smile), but it's there and very visible. In a few more weeks I might actually look like I did this to myself on purpose...

I can actually pull my hair again!  I hate photos of myself so I don't know if I'll post one, but I might  get up the courage to do so soon.

    Claire

The home organic color turned my hair a weird pink shade in some spots, but covered the grey.  I went to the salon 16 weeks pfc and had a permanent organic color.  I went again at 22 weeks.  I am officially at young boy haircut.  I'm at 23 weeks now. Need bangs still.  Oh yeah, and more hair.

MizMarie - Oh no!  It sounds like anything goes when it comes back.  But, that's okay.  I keep saying I will never complain about a bad hair day ever again.  We'll see how long that lasts!

I noticed you we have the same diagnosis and you were diagnosed a few days before me.  You already have enough hair for cowlicks?  So jealous!  Did you do AC and then TH?  (Taxol)

I have a cowlick right in the front at my hairline which is in the exact same place I had one before. Only before my hair was long enough to weigh it down. Seems like it is never going to be long enough for bangs again :-)
