I'm back from my primary care doctor appt.  All my labs were good and my scripts were refilled.  I am good to go for another three months.  Yippee!  I also got my surgical clearance done for my recon surgical clearance.  Next thing is my mammo on Tues and then make that phone call to get scheduled.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Tink, June, Paula and all the other Tammi babes.

June - Give it a few more days.  When I took a Tammy break, it took almost a full week to really feel a difference.  Hang in there girlfriend.

Harley- Hooray. Such a wonderful occasion!!!

Sandee- Enjoy China. We went a few years ago for only 14 days and we love it. Everything was so fascinating. The kids on the street would try to say "hello" in English and we would say "née how" in Chinese and that was always the end of the conversation. Lol.

Sherry- Ah, blessed relief! Hope it gets better and better.

    June- Feel better soon. Hugs.

Regarding SE's, the main thing I miss from my pre-tamoxifen days is a good nights sleep. EVERY night, I wake up about every two and a half to three hours, like clockwork, sweating. It doesn't last too long, but it sure is not restful. Don't get me wrong...I'll take it over cancer, but I'll be so happy when I am celebrating like Harley is now!

Ceeztheday - Before I started taking the antidepressant for the nerve damage from rads, I did the same thing.  Woke up every 2 hours like clockwork just sweating.  Sometimes I could not get back to sleep right away and would end up with maybe 5 hours total sleep a night.  I would have to get out of bed and walk around until I cooled off.  Yes, i would also take it instead of cancer.

Sorry I missed the pillow fight last night!  Looks like there wasn't too much alcohol involved, so maybe not much hangover for you gals this morning!  Wink

1 week off tammi & I still feel like crap.  So I took myself to my front porch with a cup of tea, sat on the glider and enjoyed the sunshine, birds, lawnmowers in the distance ... Am also looking forward to listening to the opera on public radio today since DH is out of town - he doesn't tolerate it very well, so I will take advantage and sing along with it if I am so inclined! (no, I don't have a great singing voice - that's kiind of the point!)  Cool

Wishing you all a great weekend.

i was wondering if you can go in a tanning bed while taking Tamoxifen

Elizabeth - If you had rads, that may not be a good idea.  That part of your skin needs extra loving care.  While on Tamox - why not?  I can't imagine why you couldn't as long as it is in moderation.

I have a question...I don't know if it since surgery, radiation, or the tamoxifen, but drinking coffee makes me kind of ill and I have no desire for it now and I used to love coffee and when we eat at restaurants it seems my body can't take the rich food.  It makes me ill.  Has anyone experienced this?

Seems like I can't eat as much as I used to eat - should be a good thing, huh!  I was thinking maybe it's the tamoxifen.  Things taste the same as they used to, which is a good thing but my stomach gets full really fast these days, even drinking water.

OK, about the tanning beds - there is a slight increase in skin reactions for folks on tamoxifen, but from what I have read it seems to be related to sun exposure, so my guess is that it also applies to tanning beds.  And the risk is pretty small and reversible.  I personally think tanning beds are not beneficial, may be harmful, but I cannot find any hard evidence to support those opinions.  There DOES seem to be a slight in squamous cell skin cancer with both sunlight and UV exposure.  On the positive side, it seems that sunlight improves depression, makes us feel better, and in our culture, we think we look healthier if we are tanned.  Hmmm.... I may go for it myself, despite the reservations!

    tinker,

thanks!  Can't wait to see you in July!!

    newfmama, sherryc, and linda-n3ypb:

    Thanks for the well wishes!

    Linda-n3ypb,

I am doing well, but I do still have my moments...  I know some other women who say they don't even think about breast cancer any more...  but not a day goes by that I don't think about it.

I feel so very blessed to be here today, and I am so grateful for every day I wake up...

I will be so very happy when I finish the Tamoxifen.  A friend of mine was recently dx'd with endo cervical cancer, and this is the 2nd diagnosis for her... the 1st was cervical cancer.  She is refusing chemo, although 2 out of 3 nodes were positive...  I am worried about her.  Those who pray, please pray for her....

    HUGS to all

    Harley

    June,

She had a terrible time with chemo & radiation after the 1st diagnosis...   that was 9 years ago, and I told her that there have been so many advances since then.  I am worried about her, but I can't change her mind.  She wants to do only alternative treatments...   she mentioned tumeric... and grape seed extract.   Heck, I was thinking a bout trying the grape see extract AFTER I finish the Tamoxifen....  just doing a little research....

    anywhooo....   thanks for the prayers....

    Harley

Harley will say prayers for your friend.  You are right they have made so many more advances.  Chemo was awful for my sissy, but thankfully for me they had better ways to help you thru the SE. I don't mean to upset you, but I am one who thinks that both modern medicines and the alternative treatments side by side I think can be effective.
