Lago - keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Joan...what's the matter with you? Boring is good. If you want an adventure, come on over. I'll send you down into The Pit. Or as you might refer to it, my unfinished basement. Filled with many adventures just waiting for you! (seriously... this stinks!)

Thanks, lago and spunky and jackie! It feels good to go without the wig. Rock the interview, lago! Joan--glad you are getting taken care of. Feel better soon. I hate that the road is so unpredictable sometimes. Spunky--why ooph? Did you come back Breca positive? Best wishes there....0

VIOLET You are too precious. Cant wait for a few of my own...

Joan I am so sorry you have to go through this. Note: I have been on the generic aromasin for 3 months. I feel better than I have since before surgery. Hope it keeps up.

Nancy-Onc ordered BRAC test, but insurance won't pay for it... so ooph, plus-I don't know paternal family health history, multiple cancers in breast, blood test says I'm in meno but body says not, seems like she had some other reasons too but I've lost track.
Another beautiful day! I'm heading to the Art Institute then dinner with DD.
Enjoy yourselves! TGIF!

Interview went well. I'm one out of 7. I have a good feeling I will make it to the 2nd interview. This sounds like the perfect job for me… granted HR's personality test said I was too creative
Ends up the person I would report to also failed the personality test for the same reason. Too funny. I don't think she was supposed to tell me that but we clicked. I actually got a kick out of that. 0 -
NancyJill - You look fantastic!!! And I am happy to hear that you are not having troubles with Tamox. So far, no problems! I only took it twice though

Joan - One thing at a time.. prayers for getting rid of that infection first.
Lago - Good Luck!!!
Happy Friday everyone.

It's St Patrick's day weekend. Let the green begin:

Good afternoon all. I'm sore but good. And using my iPad!!!!!

Good afternoon ladies!
It seems like it has been ages since I posted. The wireless in our Florida condo was very touchy and was more trouble than it was worth. I had my smart phone but I'm so slow when it comes to posting from it that I just avoided the issue.
I am far from being caught up on the posts. As I skimmed through rapidly a few minutes ago, I noticed that Zap has her new baby! What a precious little thing she is, too! Congrats grandma!
I will try to catch up later this weekend. We have purchased a house to renovate and "flip" and we want to have it back on the market by June 1st so we are spending every available hour over there painting and repairing. We about have the main level ready for flooring....perhaps in another week. It is so much fun to see it come together but so much work! The housing market is still pretty good in our area so we have high hopes for our venture. I took today off because I had to get my taxes done before my appointment this next week with my accountant.
Welcome to the new gals on the thread. I am looking forward to getting to know you!
Hope all is going well for you.

So much going on. Thanks, Laura, for posting Violet's pic. We are so trying to get this behind us but it is still a worry. When she cries hard, and all babies do, my DD gets so stressed. In my own heart, I feel she will be fine.
Joan, so not fair. You need to get your health back and so I hope that happens with what Lago calls the antibiodic bomb.
Hey Lago, it sounds like you and the interviewer connected. Do not wnat to jinx it, so I will stop, but good luck, dear friend!
I have been working a stint with second graders. Today was my last day. Thank heavens! They are adorable and I love them......but enough is enough.
Rita, that project sounds so cool. We have a house on our block that could be a flip but DH is not adventuresome enough to take it on. I think "rebuilding" a home with another is such a creative act. I hope you reap great rewards and have fun while you do that.
Finally, I have my corned beef and my cabbage and my potatoes. Do you all have the same? Don't forget the soda bread! A pint of Guinness too!

Yum New England Boiled dinner! I want some.0

PICC line is in. Whoop dee do! Waiting for Walgreen's to make a delivery yet tonight of that antibiotic bomb, vancomycin. Home nurse will be coming by at 8am to do the first IV, then back at 8pm to do the second one. Yes, two per day. This is so weird to get "room service" directly to my home. I am feeling guilty. It's not like I couldn't go to a clinic or something. I"ll be out shopping and messing around the rest of the day, lunch with friends and a drive to the airport to pick up DH. Just have to Get back home for my evening nurse detail. Guess I won't argue with them. I think the cellulitis is improving quite a bit already on the oral antibiotics.
Lago... Good luck with the job interview process.
I am going to try some WWF while waiting for my drug delivery tonight.0 -
Sorry about your infection Joan! Get better soon!

Another Illinois woman here! I live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. I was really happy to find this thread. I have just been diagnosed. I had an MRI and now they believe the cancer is multifocal. The surgeon wants to do two more biopsies before making a surgical plan. I am going to get a second opinion next week. The dark blind alley has been scary.
0 -
Hi invisible2. Welcome. You are at the scary part right now. It does get better. Don't be afraid to get a 3rd opinion if you feel you need it. Also if you need a referral from any particular hospital I'm sure one of us has been treated there and will share names.
But MRI's do show false positives. The MRI showed 4 suspicious areas in my "good breast." There was only one they were concerned about but it did turn out to be LCIS (precancer). So you never know. It might be something non invasive.

Welcome invisible2......though sorry you have to be here. This is a great bunch of ladies who are as serious as they need to be......but know how to relax and live life fully too. Glad you discovered us.
Hugs, Jackie

Invisible... The wait for answers is the worst part, atleast for a lot of us. I'm sorry you have to go through this but this is a great group to help get you through, welcome!!!!
There are several of us in the western burbs, including myself! And ditto what Lago said regarding referrals, etc....

Invisible-Welcome. Sorry you have to be here, but I'll reinterate what others have said-this is a great place for information, to blow of steam and to share good news, as well.
Adey-glad to hear your doing well.
Lago-sounds like you made a connection, good luck! Too creative? Is that possible?
Looks like another incredible day. Happy St. Pats!

Welcome Invisible!
Little Violet is ADORABLE!!! Che bella! (Italiano for how beautiful!!!)
Joan - hang in there. I hope you get better quick! Please keep us updated on your progress!
Zap - little Violet is adorable! Che bella! (Italian for how pretty!!!)
Onward - glad to hear of the engagement news! How exciting. Let the planning begin!
So much to catch up on here.....just popping in to say HI!
Also - I really need some help finding another Med Onc. SO not happy with the one I have at NW. At this point I think I want to find someone closer to home outside downtown. Here is my situation - I need a med onc that actually listens and does not dismiss me because I was stage 1. I also need one that will entertain my clinical questions....I have a clinical background and some doc's don't have the patience for that. Can anyone PM me with information on their med onc? I need one that has bedside manner....and is not a cold fish. I think I prefer a woman but if you really like your male med onc, I am open. Please PM me. I can't take the other med onc any more! I am desperate and am ready to drive back to Michigan to my old med onc for follow ups! (I thought getting into the city here was difficult for a doctor appointment...going to Michigan would be nuts!!!)
Thanks.
I hope you all enjoy this beautiful day.....anyone drinking green beer later? Can anyone post a photo of the green river? I would love to see it!

Wow! 79 already on my deck....very strange weather!
Welcome Invisible! I'm out here too in the western burbs...went to CDH for surgery, onc/chemo/rads at Delnor. I ended up having 3 opinions, 2 from the same onc group, but different onc's. I did not like the first one at all. Yep... It was a very scary dark journey when I started but once I came here it became so much easier...it really helps to "talk" to others who have been down this road and truly "get it". If I can help, let me know!
Joan...glad ur already improving!
Spent 3 hours this am, searching for my old iPhone so I could put it in the car. It had sat in a charger for over a year and I went to get it last night and it was gone. I finally found it in the bottom drawer of a kitchen cabinet where we keep candy. Another chemobrain moment I guess cuz why would I have put it in there of all places?????
Have a great St Patrick's!0 -
Thanks for the great midwestern welcome!
The radiologist that read the MRI requested additional studies (mammogram & US) and after reviewing both felt strongly that the areas were related. I'm hoping she is wrong but before I go through 2 more biopsies I want another opinion. I was diagnosed at CDH. I am going to Rush for a second opinion.
The waiting is horrible. This site has been such a help to me. I am sorry you are all here...but glad I found you.

Hi Invisable, I am a Rush/Dr. Witt patient. I loved him. But I chose to have all but the surgery near my home for convenience. PM if you have any questions. Glad you found us. Onward

Robo, want a list
I think I intimidate some people. Not sure what to do about that. BTW let me know the next time you're in the city with nothing to do. Looks like rain next week. I'm thinking an early movie at the Century.OMG it's hot, too hot. My fingers on my LE arm swelled up like never before. I almost couldn't get my wedding/engagement ring off. My fingers weren't able to close into a fist easily. My hand it fine though. I have my glove on now. I don't see my LE MD till May. I will admit I was walking tonight for hours. It was so nice out. My arm was down so that might have been part of the problem coupled with the heat/humidity. My feet are swollen too.
So is all this fluid retention Menopause or is it Anestrozole? Anyone else have this "new" problem.

Morning! Beautiful day yesterday! Hope you all got a chance to enjoy this early peek at summer....
Lago....so sorry about the LE! I'm sure you propped it up when you got home...better this am?
Mdg....my onc is at Delnor and he is great, Dr Robert Bayer with LaGrange Oncology. He pretty much ticks all your boxes.
Invisible...I think we all would agree with you. The waiting is the worst part. I had my second opinion at NW...dr kaklamani. That was well over 5 yrs ago so not sure if she's even there anymore.
Have a wonderful warm Sunday....off to do something constructive!0
