Thanks Wendy. I put the glove on for a couple of hours and they were fine. This moring those fingers are smaller than my good arm. I am just retaining fluid. My fingers always swell a bit in the summer weather. I don't think this was all LE related.0
-
Lago, spent ten days in the sun by the pool in Florida and no swelling. These last two days have made my arms very heavy. I dont get it. Maybe the arms are allergic to chicago.....Onward

More salt in the food in Chicago

Good morning...hoping for no more rain. It's nice out.....everything that vibrant green.
Hmmm, you intimidate me a little too Lago, but it's ok, because I could say that of most people. Your personality/characteristics are you....and hey, who would we be without them. I am more of a 'wall-flower and really have learned to accept that part of me ( its about time ) since there is something in that I need. We are all perfect for who we are and that is comfort.
Also, there is too much salt in our food. Dr. Oz says bread is one of the major culprits ( ok....I'm a huge bread lover ) and for me I keep reading labels of everything I buy.....but not bread labels, other than to make sure that whole wheat is the first ingredient. I could give up a lot, but bread is going to remain one of my staples for now.
Hope you all have a beautiful Sunday. Lunch with a friend is in my immediate future today. See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

Jackie believe it or not I don't eat much bread. Only seem to eat it when I'm not at home. I never buy it for myself at home. I typically have a salad for lunch. I'm not saying I don't eat any but not much. Salt is in everything. Try to get something with less calories or fat and you'll find they stick more salt (or sugar for less fat) in for flavor. That's why it's best to stay away from prepared foods.
But I know what I ate yesterday that was salty

More great weather...then on Thursday back to normal and that is a relief for me as this is just weird. DH is addicted to March Madness and I am having difficulty getting him OUT and ABOUT. Did go to the Botanic Garden yesterday. I signed up to be a volunteer there and Ceremonial Tea Services in the Japanese Gardens may be in my future. I guess the tea ceremonies are quite involved. Sure hope I do not need to wear a kimono. Small and petite ladies look great in a kimono but not me!
Lago, I personally do not find you intimidating. You are so filled with information but you never push an opinion on people. We need all sorts. I do not know what "multifocal" even means, altho I could take a good guess. And that leads me to welcome Invisible. One thing I really get is fear! Yes, this is the worse part. You can't get that part until you get past the "find out" time. I wish you well and hope you come often. Perhaps you could share a bit about yourself unless you prefer to be be invisible. Either way is okay.
Violet was introduced to Lake Michigan yesterday! DD was so cooped up that she only wanted to bring the girls to Evanston to fun in and out of the lake. Of course Violet stayed put in your snuggly
Have a great week! Joan, keep healing. Allow the home nurse.....you deserve room service and more!

Welcome, Invisible. I had two tumors. I was in a panic but the breast surgeon said she'd had women with six and it doesn't affect your prognosis. One breast surgeon said that meant we should do mastectomy, second opinion said we could try lumpectomies. So two opinions are good.
Wow I'm so excited about our summer weather and early spring. I have daffodills and forsythia blooming. I know this weather won't last, but I'm hoping that's the end of winter, at least.
Joan, infections stink. I had an infection after my surgery and ended up in the hospital longer than after my surgery. Almost had to go home with a picc line but escaped. I think vancomycin kills everything so surely it will work quickly so you can get your back fixed and out of pain. I wish we could get a new spine at 40. Ok how about a whole new body.
Zap volunteering at the Botanic Garden sounds like fun! I would love to do that, but then my own yard and garden would really suffer!.
Lago I have many days I can't get my wedding ring on and I don't have LE. I'm afraid to wear it! Been trying to lose 5 pounds so maybe I can wear it again without fear. I do think its highly likely our food is salty here. When I was in the Keys, I noticed when I got back how bad all the Chicago food is. There I was eating fish and salad, Here you can hardly order a salad without cheese and bacon in it.
I noticed some talk about BRCA testing. Do you know when is it recommended? I doubt I would be positive, but then I didn't really think I was going to get breast cancer either. . .

TwoHobbies, I would so love a garden. We have so many trees (definietly low maintenance) that it is too shady. Anything I do needs to be in containers. Grew up with a huge sunny yard and my mom never bought veggies in the summer.....all homegrown AND raspberry bushes. YUM!

TwoHobbies I had my BRCA test before we even scheduled surgery and even before my MRI. In my case, if I was BRCA positive BMX would be the course of action. Ended up I had the MRI before the results of the BRCA came in. Since my other breast has some suspicious areas that would have to be biopsied yearly my BS recommended BMX. I ended up BRCA negative. Because of my Jewish Ashkenazi heritage there was some concern since this population has a slightly higher risk of being BRCA positive.0

Welcome Invisible - I'm sure this has been said above but 2nd or 3rd opinions are good and keep copies of everything.
BJ!! I'll check out the date but I'd love to! I am just starting to run again since surgery and treatments and it feels fantastic!! I love Captiva! Have a fantastic week!
This weather is so fabulous. Not going anywhere next week for spring break but I have the week off. So excited to spend the week with my kids. My oldest daughter has 5 softballs games during the week as well.
Have a great week everyone!0 -
BJ, that link is not working for me. I will walk with you. Are you not running these days? Anyone else want to meet for the walk with us. Do not want to crimp anyone's style if they wish to run it.

Hi, Invisible. I'm in the Western Subs, also, and am being treated at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, where I am happy. Good luck with your second opinion. I walked for the first time in weeks yesterday and it felt good. No LE.

Hey Happy Monday everyone. This is a strange week for me. It's the first week since Feb 20th that I haven't been waiting for a test or a test result. I have my second opionion scheduled for Friday 3/23.
Someone on this thread (or perhaps another thread) said she could not remember life before BC. That statement had a profound impact on me. I have always been a bit of a workaholic. I work a lot of hours and travel extensively for my job. I have been 'grounded' and working from my home office since my diagnosis. I can't seem to put together a solid day of work. While it's important that I answer email in a timely manner it just doesn't seem AS important. Yep, trying to remember life before BC.

invisible life changes us all. I hardly can remember life before I was married. I bet those who have kids can't remember life before kids. It's OK to change. While we like those changes to be caused by good experiences the bad ones come too and work themselves out.

Very true Lago!
Yay Adey! Safe travels.

DYI menopause cool off. I just found this on pinterest and posted here. It uses nylons and reusable ice cubes (sounds kind of kinky but it isn't).
I'm not having hot flashes but given the weather I'm considering making one. No AC yet in my highrise. They just don't turn on the AC this early. Usually the heat is still on.

One of the reasons I work some days beyond retirement is so I can keep paying the lovely young woman who cleans my house. She does a great job while I do a terrible one when it comes to cleaning. So she is coming today and I like to stay out of her path. So I am going to Glencoe Beach......it is March and I am going to the beach with a good book. I love it!

Should I be worried?? I have had a sore throat for. Few days now. I hurts to swallow so eating is no fun

Lisa report all SE to your doctors. If anything worries you then call. It could be a number of things that might not be anything to worry about but let the onc make that call.
