Whoo Wee, time to Partay, the taxes are DONE! AND I'm getting enough back to rebuild the backyard fence I've been wanting to do for years! Thank you, medical bills! One good thing about itemizing medical expenses. Did you ladies know that you can count health insurance premiums, copays, prescription copays, lab fees, hospital charges, eye exam charges, glasses/contacts/saline/other solutions, dental copays, OTC meds, massages, and lots and lots of other stuff as medical expenses? The trick is to get the total to add up to more than 7.5% of your income, you can deduct anything over that. I got to deduct $6K from the $10K I itemized! The trick to itemizing is to get reciepts for everything. I've got a folder I drop everything into through the year. Have to spend time sorting, etc, but it's worth it. Part of the reason for dictating a procedure report immediately after doing it is to be sure the correct info gets into the records. He's going to have a hard time explaining the difference between what he told you and what he wrote if anyone ever questions it. Have a good time shopping with your Mom! Never heard of Amarula, but it sounds like something yummy to try. Got to see if I can find it here in the states.
Karen--have a good holiday cooking and shopping time, and a good appointment with the BHRT doc!
Goldie--I'v e decided to take good care of myself, since no one else seems to be stepping up to the plate to do the job! Fruity drinks MUST be healthy, right? I've heard hot flashes called Personal Tropical Vacations as well as Power Surges, like Private Summers, too!
Juliet--Glad you found a BS that 's willing to make the bad spot gone for you. Wire guided biopsies are minimally invasive but the wire placing part can be painful, at least mine was. But it only lasts for the couple of hours from the time they put the wire in until the surgery, so it's bearable. And we'll be with you to distract you, and if that doesn't work, to get you drunk!
Bernie--your onc or BS never told you about the size of the tumor and the final staging?????? THAT IS SO NOT RIGHT!!!!! Want me to "explain" how NOT RIGHT this is to your docs?????

Bernie, funny yoke...yup they both start with "s"! Sounds like a neologism (sp?), which my DH does all the time...if the word starts with the same letter, and is about as long, well he makes something up that sounds similar! LOL. That sucks that the tumor is bigger than you thought...what a shocker. SO, it was that way originally and they reported it wrong, or has it grown? Hate hearing about losing movement in your arm, too. Dorkie had probs with her hand/arm after surgery, and they did more surgery to fix it. I "think" it is alot better, is it Dork? Aaarrghhhhh...doctors!!!!!
NM, I stopped by the school that has students do massage, but they don't do an LE massage either. He just said as long as I was cleared by my dr, but then again, my dr's aren't at all worried about LE! Wish we could itemize, but DH says it won't work for us. We also have to pay tons this year (don't even want to mention), cuz of stock gains he had. A higher percentage of taxation than with earned income. Glad you'll get to rebuild that fence! I am really pissed about my dr dictating something different than what he told me. THEN spent an hr on the phone trying to get my appt tomorrow straightened out. His darn office CHANGED the time on me. The surgery center called and did preop yesterday and confirmed the time. THEN had a msg from his office saying a different time. When I called today she is like "So, you want to change it?", and I am trying to explain that I want the time that was scheduled, and somehow SHE was the one that changed it. Arrrrrgggghhhh....so had many calls betwn them and the surgery center. SO got to my fam dr late to get blood taken, and they were not expecting me!! WTH???? I am *almost* ready to give up on doctors and doctors offices!!!!! Had to verify that my dr has not had any problems doing the EGD, and am hoping and praying it all goes well tomorrow.
Lori, Thanks for letting us know you heard from our Mema! Funny about getting the double. Yes, DD and her luggage made it home last night. She had to hit the ground running today, as she not only home-schools, but is responsible for the kids programs at church, and volunteers for EVERYTHING. She already was way behind, but losing that extra day made it much worse.
Juliet, remind us b4 the 18th, so we will be sure to be there with you!!!

karen , hope your ready for passover , and you can enjoy your family, wahine so glad your daughter is home safe and sound, nm had a wire guided biopsy last year so know what to expect, the breast health centre here are so good, have had the wire guided biopsy,snb and stereotactic and no pain passed the inital lidocaine injection. the bs did the 2 previous surgeries ,so comfiteble with him and his staff, bernie can we visit your md to CHAT with him. can they fix the damage to your arm? hope everybody is having a good day

Juliet--I'm glad you will get good pain management, I didn't get any novocaine or anything for the wire guided biopsy or the SNB injections, still remember the pain.

nm , it really makes me appreciate the local hospital when i see some of the stories posted , i have had 4 different procedure with 4 different radiologist with sharp pointed objects being used and past the lidocaine ,no pain, and in case you think i have the pain sensitivity of a brick , you should see me getting an iv!
the first surgery i went in with a 22ch iv and that was the third stick! can i ask a favour if you had a negative experience let them know but if you had a good experience please fill out those surveys because a in lot of places those surveys are used now in the scores to calculate annual raises! 0 -
Well, I have to fast again tonight, and really haven't had ANY likker since getting home Mon night (cuz I had sooooo much all the way home!). ANYWAY, not sure if I will feel like dwinking tomorrow night since they will put me out for the procedure, but hey girlz, it will be FRIED-DEY night, and we surely need a PARTAY!!! YEAH!!!! Chrissy is going home.....
Allison....I saw the "BHRT" doc today.....she went over all the labs (24 hour urine and blood)....brief synopsis of the appt....TSH was WNL but she is putting me on thyroid as she feels I fit the classic hypothryroid patient based on symptoms....Vit D was quite low....so add that to the mix....Rx for DHEA and testosteron (sublingual).....DIM and a list of other supplements...she will draw labs again in June...she is also recommending some other tests, but need my notes to get it all correct...that will have to wait another time....its late, I'm tired.....Lots of cooking to do tomorrow...got my baking done today.......even set the table to Saturday night, 2nd sedar....then DD reminded me that we are also having Shabbat lunch at home!!!!
DS gets so annoyed when DD and SIL are here as he looses his bathroom and has to come up stairs.....the bathroom in the basement is in DD bedroom....no other entrance......
Hope to check in tomorrow....Going to finish my glass of wine and get into bed.....

Karen, Glad the BHRT dr (guess its a hormone replacement person?) is getting you all fixed up! I didn't know they made sublingual DHEA & Testosterone. Is that by compounding pharmacy only, or would regular pharm have it? Please let me know about that one, or if they have the testerone by itself, sublingually. I do take D every day, and since your levels were low, glad she is putting you on it. Good morning, Loungettes! Slept like a log last night, first time in a long time I didn't wake up a half a dozen times. Had some weird dreams, but just odd, not scary. Don't mind the odd dreams, they can be entertaining.
Juiliet--I have filed complaints and filled out the surveys. In Maine they don't do lidocaine for "minor" things like SNB dye injections or wire placement, according to the hospital folks it's "not cost efficient." In other words, they don't want to have to spend money on lidocaine and take more time with the procedures so they can fit more procedures in during a day. That's a big part of the reason I tell anyone I meet newly diagnosed with bc to go out of state for surgery and treatment if at all possible.
Wahine--Good luck with the scope today, and I'm in for the PARTAY!!! I'm coming along and I'm going to park my bod between your doc and the next case until I hear him dicatate your report. Then I'm going to listen to the whole thing and make sure it's complete before I let him move on. No more goofin around for this guy!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Chocolate Peppermint Frog (just couldn't resist)
1/2 oz Peppermint Schnapps
3/4 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Chocolate Syrup
1 oz Heavy Cream
1 oz Whipping Cream
1 oz Coconut CreamDirections
Pour the dark rum, peppermint schnapps, coconut cream, chocolate syrup and heavy cream into a blender with two cups of crushed ice. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour as much of the mixture as you can into a hurricane glass, leaving a little room at the top. Top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry, and serve.0 -

Watching GMA...and the lady who wrote the column "people hate me because I'm beautiful" is being interviewed!!! she is nice looking but not drop dead gorgeous, but I don't agree with her thought that beautiful women are treated ugly!!!! Doesn't she realize that beautify is more than skin deep!!!

WELLLLLLL.....this surely is a Good Friday for me! Started out that the girl that checked me in has the same birthday as me. THEN....get this....BOTH nurses had the same names as both of my DD's (my only children), and spelled the same way, which is a bit different than the norm! I hardly ever find anyone with the same spelling! So one of them kept calling me "Mom". AND>>>>>>> even better news....the ULCERS and GASTRITIS is all GONE!!! This is not a late April Fool's joke, Girl Scouts Honor (since I was a GS and a GS leader, as was my mom and both my girls, I stand by the oath!). Just got home a few min ago and made an omelet...fresh mushrooms and mozzarella. Surprised I didn't fall into the pan, but really don't feel like I am in lala land anymore...they give such a lesser dose now, and it wears off too quickly. Not the deep sleep like I used to get, having this procedure. He told me to try to stay on a soft, bland diet, and wait a month and then gradually add my supplements. ALSO the dexilant 60mg, is what worked for me, we asked him about the lower dose dexilant, but he said that is the same as prilosec. So, so, so, very happy!!!!! Only thing is, I never do see any foil, although I look all over for it!
Lori, How neat that you get to go early, and that Mema can get to have happy hr with you! Have a fun trip, and glad you both will take pictures! LOVE all the yummy food you posted.
