Family dysfunction...I could write a book. Many years ago I walked away and created a family of my own. Some related by blood others by heart. We aren't perfect but we all love and support one another.

Invisible/Cathy....yay for you.

Thanks Lago for the link. She has some more drugs to try. The pain is getting her down and her Onc didn't recommend anything else. Why don't these guys try more than one thing?
Anyway, just hurting for her because she is so miserable.
Love you guys, and hoping that you all have a Blessed Easter Holiday! He is Risen!

Trying to get a second cup of coffee down before I take Dh to work. Always amazes me that Sears is such a die-hard about the days they are open. Well, guess I understand, but there is something about Easter that still makes me cringe a bit.
Otherwise it is going to be gorgeous. I am keeping the car so my feral cats can get their Easter meal at the proper time. After almost a yr. of work......the truck is still not doing well. It is either another motor or throw in the towel. It in the thought processes. It is the fact that it is 4-wheel drive.....so we'll see. Getting old to stay at work an hour longer until Dh gets home with my car when he is working. Always something.....but not much of a problem,,,,just a big nuisance to me so spoiled with coming and going as I please in MY car.
Hope you all have a beautiful day and a wonderful Easter.
Hugs, Jackie

Oh Robo;;;;;;;Family dysfunction. My immediate family gets along but the drama of my brother , sisters-in-laws and nephews growing up. My brother had trouble finding a good wife so he had a few and things just never worked out and the kids went through some really tough times. Their visits were awful. Edited in that I was giving you a whole lot of advise and then I realized none of it worked for me with family.
I hope this finds you healthy and happy be it Easter or Passover. I love this holiday and yes, we are having our own Easter Egg Hunt and it will get rowdy but the understood rule is that at the end of the hunt only the team under 4 feet are the true winners.

Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do, as usual. I don't read every day, and now it may be a hopeless task. I DO think of you all every day, and with a full heart, at that.
Welcome to all the new ladies I wish did not need this thread, but you have found a group of wonderful women who will not let you down. No one understands like someone who has "been there, done that."
Lago, I am laughing at the cartoon. So funny! No cooking for me this year, and downside of that is no leftovers. How about you? Also, count me as one who thinks you are friendly, warm, caring and helpful. Not intimidating, and wish you could use us as references in your job search! Good luck with it, anyway.
Zap, I am so in agreement with Jackie about that paragraph you wrote...we all need to reread it sometimes. You know the one. But, I am happy to say I'm finished with carpooling, but glad everything else came back! Seemed fun at the time, but now happy to be older, and leave carpooling behind. Next thing you know, my kids will be trying to take my car keys away!
Laura, great kitty! I love cats of all kinds, especially Siamese.
Joan, feel better. You have been through it, and always sounding so upbeat.
Adey, Hey I remember 50. And 60 too. Isn't May a great month for a birthday? Mine is May 14th, and for my chemo year that date was also Mother's Day. What memories we all have, huh.
Robo, I know just what you mean. Feel the same way when mine are here, but love them anyway. Have a nice, peaceful evening.
I just skimmed the pages, but thinking of you all. Hope I get to meet some new ladies at a lunch or dinner this summer.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Easter and or Passover.
BJ....Happy Birthday to you!!!! Hope your son makes you a yummy cake, and you don't work too hard.

Yum....gorgeous cake. Wondered where you were Lago. Going to be a great day here I think with sun and some warmth. I'll be working on some of my well-started projects from yesterday. While Dh was at work I did a lot chores that get done better if you are alone -- so changed furniture around in my living room. I'll wait a week, see if I like it and hope it doesn't all go back to just the way it was. That is what usually happens. This time though.....I left the major pieces alone.....couch and chairs...so maybe this change will take.
Hope you all have a great day and I'll be checking back in after work today. See you again, then.
Hugs, Jackie

westieluv just read an article that some anti-depressants are used to treat post chemo neuropathy due to how it affects on cetain chemical signals. It also mentioned a lidocaine patch (Lidoderm) which can be applied to the skin in the area with the post pain.

Hi, ladies, I wanted to share that my father turned 90 and I went to his party in New York State this weekend. My mom is 83. Her 82-year-old brother was at the party, and he has lymphoma, with complications. When he saw me and my short hair, he got tears in his eyes and said, "I can appreciate what you've been going through more than you know." I think he was glad to know that I am mostly done with treatment and am doing well. He, however, had to have a blood transfusion the day before the party. Cancer stinks. I am one of the lucky ones....

NancyJill - I agree with LauraGTO - sigh.
I'm amazed how you learn who your support system is through this process. Truly amazed and shocked with some.
My mom's hysterectcomy is Thursday. Joan - praying for your surgery this week as well. Praying that is is quick, successful and that you heal beautifully.
robo47- not sure if you are feeling the same - but I am glad this family/Easter weekend is over.
Actually happy it is Monday :-)

Happy Birthdat, BJ. Hope you had a fun day and had a nice piece of cake.
I am getting pretty anxious about my lat flap surgery this Wednesday. I even called the PS office this morning and told them that I was willing to standby just in case they had a cancellation for tomorrow. They kind of laughed about that idea. Told me to calm down and that the doctor was going to take very good care of me. Just want it over with. Sounds like at least one overnight, more likely two so I am starting to pack my bag ad get things done around the house, etc. I told my DH that he can just plan on spending a couple nights on the sofa bed in my hospital room, so he can pack a bag too! Maybe I am over reacting, but this surgery has me way more freaked than the BMX. Think I have over studied the whole procedure too much and know too much! PS is keeping me on the Vancomycin IV's until Wednesday morning. On with it already.
Headed out for a big walk again this afternoon while my DH goes golfing. Everyone have a great day.0 -
joan good luck on Wednesday!!!! It is so windy out there be careful!!

Prayers and healing vibes for Wednesday Joan!
