Thanks for the news about Jo. I was thinking of her today, just couldn't get onto computer last night and today. Busy week, am quite tired, but hanging on for another couple weeks, then will be able to relax and heal for the summer. You are all in my heart tonight.

Glad that Jo is doing well. We share the same birthday!
Tinker, hope your eyes get better. I still have to go on April 30th for some kind of test on my nerves. The opthalmologist said IF I have glaucoma, it could have been caused by the Steroids I took with my chemo. It sounds like that may be the case. I'll keep you posted, if and when I hear something.
Have a great day, girls! I am going to a special gathering for breast cancer at the Silver Coast Winery tonight, and I'm bringing a friend! Wish I could bring you, Tink!
HUGS to all

Glad to hear Jo is doing so well and that the nurse was able to sneak that IV in! It's always so nice when you get a good one like that - I HATE it when they poke around looking for a vein!
I have an eye doctor appt coming up in a few days. When I saw him last year, he said I had the beginnings of a cataract (I had been on Tamoxifen for about 5 or 6 months by then). He said it was nothing to worry about and we'll just watch it. I said "Was it the Tamoxifen" and he said they ARE just naturally-occuring. I said "At my age?" and he said well that's not as common but it does happen. I don't think I like him in spite of the fact that he's cute and he helped my son out in a big way in an emergency. But he's supposed to be a really good doctor so I'll just have to put up with his insubordination - lol.
Tink - glad to hear your problem is not from the Tamoxifen. Your eye doctor sounds nice unlike my meanie! Oh, and I have never had to go to an eye doctor before in my life and coincidentally I get two things - blurry vision and cataracts after treatment? I'm going to press him some more about it when I see him next Tuesday and if he still acts like it's not related I'm going to...to...to...not like him even more!
Harley - that sounds fun! Hope you have a good time tonight!

I spoke to Jo too and she is doing well. She did have a hematoma and had to get 2 pints of blood before surgery. I hope this took care of it. Will keep you posted when I know more. She really wants to be home on Saturday to celebrate her birthday!

Hi, I usually post on the breast reconstruction/lat dorsi thread mostly but I was thinking of Jo and saw that she posts a lot here. So I thought I would check in on her. I'm glad she made it through the second surgery. Please tell her we are all thinking of her and hoping it's better from here on out.

Just spoke to Jo and she is still draining blood. She said the doctor came by this morning and order another blood test and said he would see her this afternoon. So it does not look like she will be going home today.

Please tell Jo to hang in there! I'm praying for her. I had the same surgery and the first night there was a worry about hematoma and possible emergency surgery. Thank heavens for my wonderful night nurse that paged the dr back in late that night. A binder and pressure worked for me.
I pray and hope she is on the mend soon! If they can get the blood to slow she is will be ok.

Prayers and gentle hugs for Jo tonight. Hope you are home for your birthday!
It's FRIDAY!!!!!! Seems like a week of Mondays this week.... looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow! DH and I got home from work at a reasonable hour, had our own "happy hour" with a glass of wine, cheese & crackers by the pool - first one this year - very pleasant. Looking forward to a few more of them in the coming weeks.
Hope you are all feeling good or at least better, and have a great weekend.0 -
Anyone starving on Tamoxifen? How about gaining weight OR unable to lose weight despite heroic efforts? I'd love to hear from you! It's been a month and I'm really discouraged. Thanks.

Happy Birthday to Jo, hope she gets home.
suitshoppe - I have been on Tami for 4 months. At the beginning I was hungry a lot, but it might have been the rads. Had to make an effort to eat to not lose weight as their setup is based on you being a specific size. After about 6 weeks I started loosing my appetite. Food doesn't taste the same to me. I only eat because I get sick if I don;t and I am more tired. Haven't lost any weight, but haven't gained either. Mostly have fruits and veg as that is what tastes best and a bit of protein. Found just eating what I feel like and not worrying about what I should be eating has given me some balance. Also exercise most days now that I can. Only gentle, but it seems to be keeping me a little toned.
Like all the other SEs it has changed over time. Settling into a new normal. Try and except your new body image for what it is. It was only when I did this that I lost 17 pounds last summer before I was diagnosed. When I stopped obsessing about food - it seemed to lose its power.
