Carrol2, I know it must be hard to get it cut but it will probably grow even better when ends gets trimmed. How many months pfc are you in your avatar pic? It looks so long - I can't wait to get to that length!

Has anyone tried acupuncture or herbal teas to get hair growth?

Ossa and MizMarie, you guys look great. I love red hair!
My eyesbrows and lashes caused me problems and ith took quite a long time to grow in. I still have problems with the brows since the hair grows down instead of sideways. I bought the Anastasia brow groomer that comes in a mascara like tube and it's waxy to try and train the brows but I haven't had much luck with it.0 -
Seagover---I never thought of either of those things--Have u done that?

shore 1 one more day until the big trim! I am 15 months PFC in my avatar I am 17 months now. My hair is pretty long now. I can make a 2 inch ponty tail in it, and my bangs come down to my chin. I really like it but I still think I look better with shoulder length hair.0

Camilegal, I have not tried either. I have been taking Niacin along with biotin and a couple of other things I got at GNC and using a couple of things on my lashes, will not use Latisse because of my light eyes. There is a new a Accupuncturist in my area and I called Friday. He left a message that there were herbs and Accupuncture for SE of chemo. I will call him back tomorrow. He said we should sit down and have tea and discuss this. Hmmmm, we shall see! I'm being really positive with this hair thing but want to help it all I can.

annafoefana- my right eyelashes are the same as you describe. A hunk right in the middle is gone. The bottom lashes are non-existent. I'm only 5 weeks PFC so I haven't noticed much regrowth anywhere except my fuzzy legs and head. My eyebrows and lashes have thinned (more on the right side) but are still hanging in there. I'm hoping they won't disappear completely at this point. I also realize that it can happen.
Has anyone considered or tried vitamin B-9 for hair growth? My hubby did some research and said it may help due to it's cell division properties, but he is also concerned about dividing the "wrong" cells as well. Just curious if anyone has any info on B-9? It's got a good name!0 -
Seagrover u have to let us now exactly what he tells u--This is interesting--u r adventuress LOL

There are tiny white hairs growing back on my lashes, using Obagi and Senegence lash products. Using Nioxin stuff too on my head. Will let you know what the guy says.

Seagrover----WHITE EYELASHES??? I honestly never heard of that. Oh boy.
0 -
Wow, Camillegal, I didn't even think about what I was saying. Yes, def they are white. And my peach fuzz is white. I'm seeing a couple of tiny eyebrows and they are the only thing that has a tinge of color. That will be a real B**** if the eyelashes keep with the white color theme. I asked my daughter to look at them - she said they were blonde - hahaha Maybe they will darken with time. anyone else experience this?

Everything seems to be white here too!!

Seagrover and my left boob---now we're talking serious business. All white , me too ---except the few lashes that I do have and brows--isn't not funny.

I had two lonely lashes on my left eye so I pulled them out today. I mean, what's the deal with two dark ones left? I look in the 10x mirror all the time so I probably don't have even as much as I think I have! hahaha but, I do have very tiny white hairs all over my face!

I know this was discussed before, but was wondering if anyone is using Rogaine to speed up the hair growth PFC? I know a study showed it worked (at least when given during and after chemo), but the follow-up was short and I was wondering if that growth would fall out if one stopped using it. I don't want to have to use it for life, but am anxious to speed up the growth. For those not using it, can you tell me why you chose not to (cost, MO said not to, didn't want the hassle, etc)?
p.s. my last chemo is May 29th so I am just getting ready to be PFC (which I thought meant post f**king chemo until someone wrote out that it was post final chemo!)

slak I thought the same thing about PFC! LOL

Slak I was using Minoxidil (Generic from Walgreens) before chemo because my hairline started to recede a bit in my mid 40's. I stopped it during chemo but started again after chemo. I don't know if it made things go faster since my hair always grew pretty fast (even though I was still on Herceptin). I do know that the receding is much improved and I'm 16 months PFC.
Now if only I could use it on my eyebrows and lashes. Both are thinner than before but my eyelashes area actually longer. Weird. I do think my body is still trying to recover though. Some of my nails are still lifted, all of them have ridges and are still very brittle.

Actually - I think it means BOTH post final chemo AND post fu&^ing chemo. I prefer the latter!
And, for the record, I am 4 days post fu&^ing chemo!

Ha! I thought the same as you Joan. I still prefer post effing chemo!!

Slak - to me PFC is exactly as you thought...lol
I've been using rogain since diagnosis - I also use it on the brows and latisse on the lashes....my head is covered in white, but there is hair that grew during chemo that is about an inch long on top and it is brown. That will have to be cut to match the rest eventually. I'm 4 weeks PFC and I can see the total hairline now with about an 1/8 inch white with black/brown mixed in a bit. The texture seems very much like before chemo..maybe a bit softer. I take a qtip and apply the rogain to the brows. They have thinned and I still see one or two dropping here and there. They used to be black, but have faded to a brown/reddish color. I had bushes of eyebrows before and I think that might have been why they haven't all disappeared. They are coming in black..slow, but the new hairs are there. The bottom lashes are all but gone...maybe 6-7 on each bottom - the tops got thin, but thankfully are hanging in there..I also used to have eyelashes that I would have to cut they were so long and interwined in the corners..that may have saved them from all dropping....hopefully they have stopped, but I don't see any new lashes starting. I also use Nioxin - and have been throughout chemo.

I love the tru meaning of PFC now we know for sure-----and seagrover u'r hysterical with the mag mirror--I do the same thing cuz I want to see lashes--but I too have white fuzz on my face--never had it before even with the mag mirror--WTF there's hair where it's not supposed ro be and no hair where it should be. It's bizarre how SE just keep on popping up all the time. LOL

Carrol2, Good Luck tomorrow. I am about a year ahead of you. Two and a half years PFC. I am trying to grow my hair long again, and it is taking a lot more time than I thought it would. One mistake I made - at 15 months PFC, I had my hair layered, in an attempt to get rid of the mullet look. It did look more like a style, but I'm still growing out all those layers. Now, I just have the back trimmed an inch every 3 months. I'm finally starting to look like myself again. My advice to you is to ask your stylist to just take off a little in the back. You can always go and get it cut some more if you think it is not enough. It is a slow process. I think we all have more patience than we ever knew!

I am 5 months PFC, and my hair is shorter than most men I know. And it's curly which I never had before. I was very surprised at how long it is taking to grow. Last week I got a haircut, and there was a pathetic little tiny pile of curls on the floor, but boy did it make a difference. I started sporting my short, grey, curly do since then. I'm kind of liking it. It's funny getting past the debut appearances with all my friends, coworkers, etc. I work with kids on the autism spectrum, and yesterday, a nine year old boy greeted me, and promptly said, "Boy, you're getting older and older." Just when I was starting to feel good about my almost Jamie Lee Curtis look! Then his sister, who is 4, kept asking me about my hats, and I told her I'm not wearing them anymore because I got a haircut. When I was about to leave, she asked me for a kiss and hug, which I realized afterward, was so she could "cop a feel" of my curly rug. Then she shyly asked me, "Are you a girl?" That got me some belly laughs, which felt great! I told their mother that I was going to put that in my book whenever I write it. Kids are so precious! But now I'm re-thinking the grey thing. Maybe I'll go back to coloring my hair...

beegee, color it. Hair dye was the best invention to keep us looking younger. I lasted less than 24 hours when I went topless. Was at the hair dresser the following morning when he opened!0

vanessa99 well my hair kind of grew in all in layers by itself. I never got the mullet thing I was lucky it all grew in very evenly. I did get a sort of trim at about 4 months to get rid of the long pieces that never fell out. I kind of like the layers it makes it look fuller. But I don't think I can get away with only trimming the back cause the ends are frizzy all over including my bangs. I need to cut off a little bit kind of everywhere.
Today is the day first real cut. I am thinking maybe take off as much as a half inch, Yikes!!!

Out of the mouths of babes! I love how unreserved kids are though, too funny.
Carrol2
I'm sure your hair will look awesome after your trim. Post a pic please!

Good luck with your haircut, Carrol2. You're very brave - I know when I reach that point, I'm going to be a nervous wreck!!

Ok, stopped by the accupuncturist today. Talked to the girl out front. She was saying that they could make me some tea that SHOULD help. Didn't know how long I would need to drink it. Also, when I asked about the Accupuncture in association with chemo, that was totally different. Being that I an 5 weeks out, I'm not interested in that. Only if it would make my hair grow faster.
The teas sitting on the shelf reminded me of my science class back in middle school. Looked like it might contain eye of knewt, bees knees......you get the picture here. Back to looking for a bucket of patience! Seems what I need most!0 -
For those of us aspiring to have hair, I though these are two super cute looks. I love the one on the
right because I have a round face.0
