There are many threads on various topics to help you through this nonsense so if you have any questions, fire away!
It does take time and patience for your hair to reappear...I wouldn't worry about the alopecia...it would have happened by now I would think.
It took me till 3 months PFC for me to have enough hair to go "topless". Once the wig was gone, I felt so "recovered". It will come!

Born--Wow! Same question, are you a model? You are lovely also. Again, with or without hair. I am only 7 days out of first treatment. My hair is short already, but I find myself wanting it to just go ahead and start coming out (Is that sick or what?) because I'm tired of wondering so much how it'll feel, look when I lose it. I will most likely do what many of you did; buzz it very short once it starts coming out.
Here's a funny: at my cancer center recently was held a Chinese Auction and I won a lovely basket from an upper scale salon in our area. What did it include? Lots of great Aveda hair products and a free haircut! Great. The Aveda stuff will last or my DH can use it, but i hate to waste an $80 hair cut on a buzz I can get anyone to do!! Have a call in to salon to see if we can work around that. Stated on basket is haircut must be used by end of Sept. I'm thinking I'll be well into bald by then!

I had mine cut short like a bob, then after my first treatment my dear friend buzzed it. And then a week before my next treatment I had to have my husband's barber shave it. I cried and cried and cried. And then after my 2nd treatment I got that white fuzz!
After I got done with herceptin it did take off and I take biosil.

Hi Ladies, for those of you with long hair, there are many salons who will give you a free wash, cut and style if you are donating your hair. I had planned on donating my hair anyway, but when I found out that a fancy local salon in my area provided this service, I made the appointment. I had a very short cut done first as I knew my hair days were numbered. I recall I waited until the last minute and my short hair cut was only for two days :-). My husband and dh helped buzz it off.
Giving my hair away, buzzing it off and wearing the wig that I loved (at the time) was very empowering. Having my hair grow back (I'm 7 months PFC) has been rough. I have about 3 inches now (I cut the first inch off after a bad hair coloring experience :-)), but as some of you know the hair grows out in layers and I often think about how long it will take for the hair from the crown to get down to the back of my neck or shoulders. Some days my hair looks nice with some product and using the 1/2" flat iron that others have recommended. Other days it's like waiting for a bad haircut or your bangs to grow out. I never imagined the regrowth to be this way. I guess it's very logical now, but who the heck knew. I feel a bit like a teenager again dealing with hairstyles. I also envy all the ladies I see with their long flowing hair and when I see ladies with short layered hair I wonder if it was their choice :-).

Borntosurvive, I responded to your question regarding muscle stiffness on the Canadian forum.
I am six weeks past my last chemo (4 rounds of TC), and there is no noticeable hair growth. When it started to fall out during cycle 1, I had it shaved off. I have a few lone stragglers on top sticking up from the scalp that seemed to have grown about half an inch since then, but it's been looking the same now since the last chemo. Am I too impatient? Are some of you experiencing the same thing? I am worried. Have always had enough hair for three people, and would just like my hair back.

Liefie - I am 5 weeks past my last chemo (6 rounds of TC) and I don't have any noticeable hair growth either. We just need to be patient - we'll grow in together!

Thanks ladies. I modeled when I was younger and paid my way through University. I stopped when I was finished high school. It was a previous life as I like to say. I had these pictures done because I wanted to capture my bald head. I owe A LOT of credit to my photographer and the editing that she did. She's amazing. When I called her to ask for the photoshoot I never imagined that they would turn out like that. Thanks for all the comments.

Hikergal i think I had full coverage kind of gi jane at 4 months and at 6 months i had a very short haircut look. I did not take any supplements during chemo my onc said they would not really help. I did start 3 weeks after my last infusion. I figured everything was out of my system by then.0

I am 10 weeks pfc and went to the store yesterday without a ball cap. It felt incredible!!! I don't have a lot of hair at all but I really don't care. I'm so OVER those scarves! It is empowering to go without one!!!

My sister bought me some Ovation and I admit I have not used it as faithfully as I should. I am approaching 23 weeks PFC and have about 2 1/2 inches of growth. Wishing I was like my BFF whose hair grows about an inch every 2 weeks. She is full gray at 44 and has to die her roots all the time. Pick you poison I guess

So I thought I would never do this. You know, I can make it on my own. Have a wonderful VERY supportive husband. You all seem so positive. I was that way through most of the journey, but now I just want my hair back. I guess I'm having a real pity party. Sixteen weeks since last chemo. Had very thick long hair and now I have the chemo curls. I HATE THEM! I feel worse then when it was shaved. Has anyone tried a natural straightener on their hair? My hair stylist won't do anything for six months. I don't want to hold out that long but I certainly don't want to go back to bald. There has to be something that will straighten this curl. HELP!

Sleek and shine product helps it look like a nature curl and not so frizzy/fuzzy. How long is your hair now? Washing it everyday did not help mine. The dirtier it is the better.
Did your hair stylist have any suggestions or did she tell you this over the phone?

She did see me and colored the gray with some semi permanent color. It's only a little over an inch long but like a sheep. Lol. Anyway they keep saying three inches. I think I'm going to try and talk her into the straightener. I can't wait for three inches. It's so baaad. With the hot flashes and trying to work out at least some I have to wash it everyday. Doesn't feel that dry, just curly and when I sweat, REALLY CURLY

I am 2 1/2 weeks post #2 T/C. The past day or so my scalp has really been tingling. Just like it did a few days before my hair started falling out. Most of my hair is gone but I still have some all over my scalp, sort of like a baby bird which actually is growing. Does this mean that the rest may fall out? It seems pretty intact and haven't lost any more for at least a week or so. Has anyone continued to lose hair during 3rd or 4th treatment? My eyebrows are also tingling but are still intact.

liefie and JoanQuilts, I had four rounds of TC and I was eight weeks PFC before I saw any noticeable hair growth. The waiting is awfully difficult.

i just wanted to pop in, and let you girls know.. i don't know if it will last, but since taking the synthyroid for 5 mos now, i have NEW GROWTH!!!
yeah, for ANY hair.. i keep hoping i may end up with you girls one day, with no bald spots!!!!
im just t hrilled if i get some bangs back!!! 3jays

Could someone tell me if this salt and pepper look is temporary or permanent? has anyone had the silver disappear. I don't think I had any before chemo, but have highlighted it for years, so can't be sure. Also, my growth is about 2cm at present, but still like bum fluff. Will i still get curley hir or is this it. My hair before was fine and I was kind of looking forward to curls
