I worry about all of you that will be in the path of that storm. I hate it when they say it may be the "Perfect Storm"....I see nothing *perfect* about destruction and possibly loss of lives. It took so many lives in the Bahamas, Cuba, etc., already. (I do know why they are calling it that, BTW, I just don't like it!).

Leaving late, as DH did not feel well, and now he still wants to feed all the birds, etc. Guess we are leaving 2 hrs late, and then there is a 1 hr time diff. Oh well, maybe the drive will be fun. I think we will see LOTS of pretty fall colors.

Hope DorkAble is having a great birthday....I know she will, esp with you there, Sue...you girls try to stay out of trouble, now!

And everyone stay safe!!!! I can't wait to get up in the mountains and have all the German beers at their oktoberfest....yummmmmmmmmM!!!

    ChEARS Dears!

Hi - I am not sure..  I can tell you before this even started though, if I went to the doctor for even a sinus infection they would ask if and what you drank..  they were like horrified...  You drink! It's like you're a child molester or something.  I do think beer and wine are supposed to be not as bad on your body as "liquor"..   I mean, with what we are going through..  sometimes at dinner time, having a glass of wine takes what little pain I've got away without taking pain medication..    Wondering what other comments you received...   Cheers..

Just reading through posts, so gonna try and not comment too much!

NM, that is just awesome to hear how good you are feeling since being off of the Arimidex. I SOOOO CAN’T WAIT! One more year to go.

Julie, shore hoping that storm doesn’t interfere with your travels. Glad Stella made it, heard about the “extras” lol.

Alli, I hope your birthday was as fab as you are, and I know ur not done yet!

Dork, same for you! What a great gift for both of you to get a visit from Sue.

Hi mermaid---when u tell the drs. of any bad habits I feel like the bad guy in the movies who's a serial killer. Just ignore it. we're not bad we cope and this thread has made me happy so who care what anyone thinks.

Well I think I told u my levels are off again--to low and dehydrated too--but here's the kicker I took 2 water pills this morning??? I wasn't supposed to take any. WTF is the mater with me. I guess I'll hve to drink heavily --uhm more water today --OK? everyone clear on that. Of course I do consider selzer and tonic are waters so they can certainky mix with about anything--so I'll be fine.

LOL...Cam....you crack me up....I can pretty much find justifications at any time for drinking quite honestly.

Welcome Mermaid....isnt it awful to be made to feel that way..I always find myself adjusting the ammount I drink so they dont give me chit...The hell with it...drink like a fish...ohhh..you kinda are a fish so you have every right to drink like one.

    Good Morning girls,

Cam...the storm is coming up the east coast.  Its going to cause this work day to be hella busy for me too with people all freaking out about their flights...hopefully will make the day pass by quicker...I think from our peeps the ones who will feel this will be Dorty, Orla and NM...I dont think any one else lives within the projected path of this thing.  Stay safe girls.

I thought we wern't supposed to drink during chemo. I've been on chemo for 5 months and only had 2 drinks. I love good wine or a Guiness once in a while. Maybe I should rethink the not drinking thing.

Hi Merav. The girls on this thread do a lot of virtual drinking rather than real drinking and most are well past chemo. The reason drinking is not recommended while on chemo is because your liver is under a great amount of stress and alcohol adds to this causing more damage than necessary.
Please join us often at the HTL.........it will if nothing else, get you laughing.

    Live n hugs. Chrissy l

Good morning, Loungettes! Gonna spend the afternoon hanging with some friends and their 2 little girls, gonna have lots of fun!

    Happy Birthday, DorKable!

Juliet--Gonna do the winter prep stuff this weekend, but I generally  do pretty well during storms.  Never been through a hurricane, though.  Should be interesting.

Mermaid--Welcome to the Lounge!  My opinion is that since medical science cannot tell us exactly how we get bc, and cannot cure it, that it must be at least partly our own fault for getting it.  For me it's obesity and drinking.  Takes the pressure the medical world.  They don't have to admit they are failing us.  Then they want to take away everything that makes life livable by telling us we can never enjoy a drink again.  To which I say

CynCyn--there's a popular thing in medicine that says to double or triple what someone tells you they drink to get what they actually drink.  It irritates me 'cause I don't adjust, I say it just like it is.  I'm sure most of the medical community around here think I'm a serious lush!

Regarding Frankenstorm--currently expected to affect Maine next week around Tuesday or Wednesday.  I'm using this as motivation to get my winter prep done for this season.  Getting the outside stuff in, empty and refill the back up water jugs, checking batteries,  keeping the kindle and iPod charged up, filling the kerosene lanterns and making sure the matches are next to each one, Etc.  The propane tank for the grill is already nearly full, so I will be able to cook and have hot water (translate, I can make COFFEE!).  I'll make a point of getting on line every day and keeping people up to date, but I'm not really expecting too much trouble.  Could be wrong, but we'll see.

Merav--chemo is very hard on the liver, as can be alcohol.  It's standard to recommend not drinking during chemo, but the truth is that a drink now and again, or even a couple a week won't really hurt anything and may add a great deal to one's quality of life, especially for the gals who are on long term chemo.  What is the point of going through all that if you can't enjoy life?  I'll let you in a secret, though.  I don't drink anywhere near as much in real life and I do here!  I love a glass of wine with dinner (I even make wine) and an occasional harder drink when out with friends.  But don't tell any of the other Loungettes!

Princess Glitter Sizzles DOTD is the Frankenstorm

    1/2 oz goldschlager

    1/4 oz jagermeister

    1/2 oz Irish cream

    1/4 oz Rumple Minze

Combine all ingredients into a shot glass and slam it.

Merav Chrissy is right but I do remember women in chemo that couldn't wait to get home so they could have their drinks--I'm not advocating this but it is what it is. And Chrissy this is not really drinking after I started to drink LOL

My dgtr went out last nigt and had a few drinks so she slept over, but she had French martinis???

Vanilla vodka, a splash cherry Liquor and a splash of cranberry juice. She said they were good--that's why she had to sleep over.her eyes look like 2 red marbles.

I didn't take water pills today so maybe I'll be more normal-I'm having trouble a little with my comp. Oh well.

Merav - Here's my take on the drinking thingie. Why deny yourself something that gives you some pleasure in the face of this horrible ca! Maybe I'm a bit defeatist but with stage 4, what's a little buzz going to do? Give me ca? oh yeah, already got that! My onc. doesn't seem concerned about it or my (nasty) smoking - perhaps cuz I'm stage 4? I dunno so bottoms up! ;)

Hi Ladies, and new gals too!

Been a bit quiet around here with many of us traveling. Juliet, won't you be in the NE soon? ON your way to the UK maybe? I dunno, can't keep up! Worried about everyone though with this approaching storm. It is GAWGEOUS here in the Smoky Mtns, colors are so beautiful and our condo is awesome...there is even a wide waterfall with faux stream right below our balcony. BUT very cool temps, hi is 50. AND they say now we may get SNOW on Mon or Tues, and VA may get heavier snow. Hope its ok for when Lori and her DH go to VA and also when me and my DH go to Asheville, since its all mountain driving.

We are being lazy SOB's...slept for hours and just lazying around watchng "Archa Bye Oh" (as they say on tv in MX)...xome good movies. Gotta get out for some food soon though....have the fireplace going (gas), and just snug as a bug. Need more beer, but we do have some likker and vino.

Today Sue will be in KY with Alli.....sooooooo awesome! I know you gals will have a blast!!!! Hope you're not crying too hard today Dorkie, after taking Sue to the airport. Just remember all the fun you had!!!! And I hope you are healing well....no peeking till you see the dr!!

OLara, I love that pic with the gal with the huge scary mouth, would be neat to be able to do that for Halloween, but I wouldn't be so talented to pull it off! Neat pic, though.

    Hugsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss,

    Kath
