PLEASE, ladies  let me know from your experience or what your PS has told you -

What length of time does your PS want to wait from last fill of expansion to implant exchange surgery?

I see all different lenghts of time listed on here.  One PS told me that she liked to wait 3 months which seems kind of long, but she said she likes to wait to allow that time for everything to stretch & stay stretched.

    Any one else please comment.

My PS waits 3 months too.  He says it lets the site heal properly before the exchange surgery.  I had BMX Oct 9 and will have my exchange surgery sometime in January.

janice mine said one month. But i heal very quickly. I did wait 2 months in the end though because my PS is the only one in the area that will take my medicaid so his schedule is very tight. I was anxious to get them out they were lopsided and really noticeable.

My PS does the fills slowly over 8-12 weeks. Once you get to the size you think you want to be then she makes you wait 3-4 weeks to ensure you are comfortable that size.

Janice - whoops, I read the question wrong!  I will wait 1 month from final fill to exchange surgery - 3 months post BMX.

My PS also waited 3 months after my last fill.  The fills also were very slow, <100cc every two weeks.  I had no issues with the fills, and the exchange was fine.  My PS said that when it goes slowly, it usually goes better.  In my case, he was absolutely right.

I waited only 3 weeks from my last fill to exchange. I did small fills 30ccs each time and I did not have rads.

For my body size I will be a B+/C- when exchanged, which is where I wanted to be.  Average.  Sientra 370 HPs.  Looking at how stretched my skin is I wouldn't want to go any larger.

When I started this (BMX) I was an A/A- due to LARGE excision biopsy (tissue from each breast differed by 90 grams on final path.)  I would say with the right push-up bra at the right time of the month I was a 36 A / 34 B before mastectomy.

And....last piece of info I need to get is pre-cert by my insurance for the hospital and anesthesia........and I am good to go for Monday!  So close to the happy dance but I don't want to jinx myself!

My PS had me wait one month after last fill but ended up being 6 weeks by the time we coordinated everything.  I had 100cc's every 4 weeks during expansion.

My PS is waiting 3 months from my last fill.  I had a BMX on Aug 29th (with 300ccs) and my last fill was Oct 18th.  Fills started on Sept 13th - 50ccs a week for 6 weeks.  I see him on Thursday and am hoping to get an exchange date for sometime this January.

SimplyAudrey, are you going to have the Sientra Round Base 370HP or the Oval Base 370HP?

    SimplyAudrey,

I too am scheduled for a permanent implant on Monday, 11/19.  I think I will be the first one up in the early morning hours, but won't know for sure until Friday.  I am not very nervous (more eager) but it would be nice to hold your hand virtually as we both undergo our procedures.  For all those undergoing procedures in the near future, and those recuperating from recent ones, I pray for positive outcomes.

My PS said I had to wait 3 months from date of last fill, to make sure everything was healed internally before exchange surgery.

But then I decided to lose weight before I got the New Girls, so I had my TEs in for 9 months!

My issue is they want me to GAIN weight.  I figured quitting smoking for this would put weight on.  Gained 9 pounds post op.....went back to work, and I lost what I gained.

    ~sigh~

Well good for you that you quit smoking! That really effects healing.

Cindy - I had made a promise to my Mom before she died that I would, my last cigarette was on her birthday - and I've been nicotine free for 2 months.  Plan to stay that way!  Surgery forced the issue, but there are no coincidences!

It was only 3 days...and for some reason, these didn't pull like the set after my BMX.  So, other than the ickiness of having to pin them onto a tank top again, it was nowhere near as bad.

    And they're gone!!! :):):)

Hi everyone - my first time on this thread. Lots of great info here! I had my exchange surgery a week ago, and just removed the bandages today. Though I had tried to keep my expectations in check, I was not elated with the results and spent a good part of the afternoon in tears. Happy with the size, thrilled with the softness (after the rock-hard TEs), and I think the scars will be minimal after they heal. But I'm assymmetrical - right (radiated) side is higher with a shelf, and seems narrower and more projected, while left slopes more naturally and is broader. Does anyone know if there is a chance things will settle on their own to look more even over time, or am I likely looking at a revision? My PS mentioned right after my surgery that I might need some fat grafting on the right (that the radiation scarring presented some challenges during surgery), but I haven't seen him for follow up yet. I had really hoped that after a year and a half I was done, really don't want another surgery!!

I'm sick about the potential for more drains. No one mentioned that... I could just cry.

Cindy- I was told that I may or may not need them it all depends on what type of pocket work my PS has to do. I'm excited for the possibility of no drains, but I'm prepared for the worst with waking up and having drains. I'm not going to worry about until I wake up. But on a good note, my insurance has APPROVED my exchange surgery. I 'm so excited about that. 2.5 weeks away.

    Hi Cindyloowho,

I just had my exchange on 11/6 and did not have drains! I took pain meds the first day only. Very limited swelling & bruising. They are looking better each day! So soft! Hoping you have the same results!

    Hugs.
