(We used to get free suckers at the bank when I was a kid)

    bulldog

(we got free suckers, too, and my brother sat in a tree one day dangling his sucker just out of reach of our English bulldog, Cherie, until my mother called out - like the voice of God- "Drop it Rusty"; at which point my brother dropped the sucker, twisted loop holder and all, into the gaping jaws of our sweet Cherie!)

    swimming

My nephew has a beautiful american pitbull (Gus) who has a HUGE head and upper torso.  He has the sweetest disposition but he LOOKS like that big dog dragon (Falcor) on "Neverending Story". Recently, we were at my dad's house (on a lake) and looking out at my nephew watching as Gus was swimming away from the shore.  All of a sudden my nephew jumps in to swim with Gus.  We're all commenting on how we wouldn't do that cause that water is kinda stagnant and yucky on the bottom and why is he wearing his good clothes? (we weren't thinking straight - we'd been eating bakery cake non-stop for hours!)  Well, turns out that Gus is solid muscle and as much as he is drawn to swimming, once it is deeper than his head, he goes vertical and sinks like a stone, unbeknownst to my nephew. So, he wasn't swimming with Gus, he was rescuing him!

Crystal Gayle (Loretta Lynn's sister who had a hit in the '70s called "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue")

(hbcheryl - lucky the water was only three feet deep and the "puppy" only weighed in at a dainty 140! LOL - unlucky that we didn't have a video camera on so that we could film that dog climbing Caleb like a bean pole OR have someone filming us shoving cake into our pie-holes while we discussed the whole thing!)
