CindyLooWho, my same-date surgery buddy! How are yours doing? I think mine MIGHT be filling out a bit...but that might just be wishful thinking!

Those of you who've had your squishes for a while...can you wear push-up bras? Do they move a bit more than the expanders did? I am still concerned by how much smaller my implants look, but just wondering if underwear might be able to help once they've settled down...
Thanks! X0 -
Skibunny - yes implants move more then the TE's. A push-up bra should be fine once you're healed up, but as always, check with you PS.

di1947,
I will be having a unilateral mx in about 6 weeks. I would want to have the breast reduction done on my healthy breast at the same time as the mx surgery. Do you know how long you were in surgery? How was the recovery from both surgeries? Are you happy with how the implant came out? I know, lots of questions, all info appreciated!
0 -
waiting - are you having reconstruction on your MX side? If so, you'll want to wait and see where that ends up before touching yer other side. If you are doing TE s to implant, you will probably have reduction done at exchange.

Hey Skibunny!
Let's see...still have some tightness but only if tired or cold and NOTHING like the TEs.
They are getting a little softer every day. Still swollen in spots. The shape is much better than the TEs. Mine looked like Portuguese rolls! They are rounder and project better. Look very good in clothes, but not great yet naked. I see my ps next friday, that will be two weeks post surgery.
How are your new girls doing?0 -
cgesq -If you have questions about implant sizing, check out Whippetmom's thread on implant sizes. Be sure to read the header and give her the info she requests, and she'll help you out. She's a wonder.

Oh there you are! Blessings, yes you are right. You have the Genie bras and I was debating everytime I see Genie bras. I keep thinking about getting some, guess I could get them from the TV comml and if I dont like them,I could return them. I have the sports bras I wear most of the time. Yep I am getting surgery to release the scar tissue and get the nips. The pills and massage helped it not to get worse but still not cured.
Have been so tired and light headed, urgent clinic dr says sinus infection from allergies. I wondered if it had to do with all the estrogen leaving my body with the Femara. So dry in other areas also. Not good. Is the Maca safe? I put a little in my Nutriblast sometimes. Watch out for putting the flax seeds and chia seeds in there unless you are constipated. Oops,TMI!
Tried the purple potatoes for blood pressure but it doesnt work well like BottomLine says it does. I am off to get Pomegranate juice. My great grandpa had a little tree of those and he ate them everyday and he walked everywhere cause he was in the great depression and had no money for the bus. Actually, his town was so small I dont think they had a bus. He lived to be 100 yr old so there is something to the research saying Poms are good for us.

sherry67 forgive me for being so blunt, but why are you still with this PS??? Seriously DUMP HIM. Move onto another PS already. You're getting no where with this dude, and it's got to effect your health! Seriously, this isn't a 25 year marriage with several kids. It's a dr who has put his needs before yours. If he were my dr, he'd be friggen toast. I don't care how far I'd have to travel for someone else. You've given this turkey enough chances.

Have a great story from a doctor's visit this week that should give everyone a good laugh! I was seeing a geneticist (MD/PhD) at a the unviersity-based cancer center in my state. We'd already covered that I'd had reconstruction before she started the breast exam when she asked "When did you have your TRAM-flap done?". She was very surprised when I explained they were silicone implants and that I do have a great PS. She hadn't seen any quite as soft as mine before. Granted, she is not a MO or BS so doesn't see as many but it made my day.

golden - good for you! glad you look so great. Bet that will keep a bounce in your step for a week.

Golden....question...why was a geneticist doing a breast exam???
Sherry I agree with crescent...I would dump him.0 -
Long story, here's the short version - insurance company required me to have a doctor's visit to go ahead with a test called "BreastNext" (looks at 14 additional genes for women that are BRCA1 and BRCA2 negative) so it turned into a "full-service" visit. Got to see the dietitian and the genetics counselor too. Could have also seen the social worker too but I declined. I think they went the extra mile to be sure the visit and test was covered.

Ah...gotcha.
I'm looking forward to never having another exam or mammogram! Ever!0 -
Hi, Layla!
If you decide to get the Genie bras, don't order them from the TV commercial. Reviews say their customer service sucks.
Instead, look at one of your local retailers - they sell them, two bras for $19.99, there is no shipping and handling charge, and best of all, you can return them with no hassle. (The biggest problem most women have is choosing the correct size.)
Try Target, WalMart, Walgreens, CVS, RiteAid, or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. (There may be others.)

Layla, I got mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond with my 20% off coupon...I get those regularly. As far as fit goes I ended up having to go up 1 or 2 sizes above what their sizing chart said. (These were what I wore during TE time.) There are two styles (lace and no lace) and they fit a little differently.

CLW, Am seeing my surgeon next Thursday.
My husband says they feel much softer when he hugs me, which is good! They're a nice shape...just so small
. My expanders were actually a much better shape and projection (and same volume).
Can't wait for my nipples! How long do you have to wait in the US for nipple recon?
X0 -
Sherry...DITTO. (sorry)

Waiting for the next step,
The PS reduced and lifted my right breast after the breast cancer surgeon had removed my left, inserted the tissue expander and three drains. I spent that night in the hospital, and left the next afternoon. Recovery was standard, drains are a pain. Nov-Dec 2011 is all sort of a blur which you will later appreciate. 6 mos. later, TE out, implant in. Now, 8 mos. later, right side has sagged and left side is high and firm. I am 65, which may have something to do with it! The PS says he'll get things looking the same, but...Good luck, you'll have many more questions, as will we all.

Layla, my local stores Bed Bath & Beyond and Walmart only carry the Genies up to a XX those worked fine with TE's but my post exchange size is a XXX...va va voom
so hubby ordered me a 3 pack from Amazon for $25.00. Highly recommend them!0 -
Skibunny my PS said it could be 6 months for nipples...she wants to make sure everything is dropped and no recisions are needed.
She was honest that sometimes they take and and sometimes they don't, or could be only one takes. And of course they are always "on".
I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip it and do 3-d tatoos...I don't think I can handle another surgery. And I don't like the idea that they will always be on.0 -
Hmmmmm....don't really like the idea of only one taking. Will discuss with my plastic surgeon. She did say that they might not be as prominent as with DIEP, LD flap etc, but I don't mind about that. A couple of little nubbins will suit me perfectly! She recommended waiting for 3 months. I was going to try and push for sooner, but will be patient. I see the US as being pioneering in all things cosmetic - so if you guys have to wait 6 months, then I will too! But don't mind if they're always "on" (ha!) as I guess you wont be able to see if you wear a bra with a bit of padding.

She didn't give 6 months as a rule, only that it could be that long before she is sure they have dropped etc. she said it could be much less.
I seem to change my mind daily on this topic.0 -
Me too, Cindy. The freedom of not worrying about them showing vs the desire to be as close to "real" as possible and the knowledge that I've ALWAYS worn a bra to hide them before BMX so it's nothing knew.....vs just having it DONE and not having to wait more time afterward for the tattoo...one less "procedure" is very appealing.
Sigh. But the good news is I've got at least 3 months to decide! Lol.0 -
Me too!

Annemarieh,
Good luck this week with your surgery..0 -
I can't decide about nips either!!!! I really hate the idea of another surgery and I think the tattoos look so good but... I wish it was all done. I want to put it all behind me!!!

Greetings ~
I had BMX with TE ten days ago, diagnosed 1/16. This website has been so helpful, have read it almost every night, especially when I was scared. Your wonderful information and support has been a true blessing.
I have been very optimistic and positive with my friends and family, but honestly, "listening" to you folks feels so comforting, and I love the humor - so good to laugh!
~ Michelle
P.S. Tried to post my picture on my profile, will get it added as soon as I can figure it out.

Helloooo Sisters!
Saw my Myofascial Therapist today. My left boob now has Rock Tape (Kinesio Tape knockoff) on it for the swelling. I got beige tape because I didn't know how much would show outside clothing.
Now that I know where it's applied (and once I find out if it works) I may pick up some of the green Incredible Hulk, beige and green Camo, Colorful Tattoo, Blue Argyle Sock, Orange and Black Tiger Stripe, or Pink Skulls. I wish they made Hello Kitty!!!

Praying for no allergic reaction to the adhesive! It has to stay on three days...

Hello Kitty...you crack me up. Fingers crossed it works.
