Hi, I had BMX 11-12 still have expanders currently filled to capacity. Searching this forum for exchange info. Thanks to everyone who has posted.
I was released to exercise starting at 50% at 4 weeks post op. I was pretty active pre-surgery: yoga, powercut, running...
Yoga was fantastic for range of motion. I can do most of my previous stuff (weights are at 75% no chest work). Oh, I also find working out at night seems to constrict chest muscles more than earlier in the day.

Thanks Mamatwinz. Yes, all my life I have held stress in my neck and shoulders but it has gotten so much better over the years. Thank you for letting me know about your experience. Today I can feel the kinks getting worked out, slept on a pillow filled with husks of some kind - always helped in the past, and yesterday didn't do any weights in class - but lots of arm, neck and shoulder movement. Also took NSAID and robaxin last night and feeling much better. Thanks again, I was getting concerned about how much pain I was in. It helps knowing the reason - can prepare better next time!

Hey, bcs22, hope you are doing well. I have been doing my Tae Bo tapes, which is lots of arms, but I just don't punch as hard as I did before BMX. I am walking/jogging and lifting lighter weights than I did before with fewer reps. I try to avoid specifically working out my chest, but as we know, after BMX, every movement uses at least some.
Question for those of you who have had exchange: Is it hard to sit up and scoot off the bed after surgery? I just remember with the BMX, for a while my husband or the nurse had to push my back for me in order to sit up without so much pain?
My exchange is two weeks from today, and I am getting nervous but excited!

I had no problem sitting up after exchange. Pretty good abs under the muffin. Lol. Sometimes I would forget and try to push off with an arm, which engages the pecs and that was uncomfortable.
I'm back on my bike trainer and treadmill, doing light weights with lots of reps for arms and abs...but anything that uses too much pec is still not good. I don't think I will ever be able to do some of those things again. I just hate that feeling of them contracting over the implants.0 -
I have expanders in place filled to 900cc and they look a little small to me. I am 5'7 and 200 lbs. When I saw my PS he said the implants will be 800ccs...smaller than the expanders I have now. Does the shape of the implant make them look larger? At this point we have changed from a simple exchange surgery to a Latissimus Flap Surgery to get more volume.
Anyone have similiar experience?

Hwranch~~ Yeah, same exchange date!! So glad you said that about being 'flat.' Makes me feel better.
Jess~~I'm still up in the air about nipple recon. I think i WILL.
Di2012~~I call it 'sharpei boob,' too. Mine is just on my left cleavage line. The doc mentioned fat grafting, but wants it to 'settle' more first.
mamatwinz~ Exercise--it's up to your PS. I'm a personal trainer, and i started working out again when I could. Nothing high impact; light weights, lots of leg work. MY PS told me absolutely NO chest exercises at all. He didn't want me to build muscle around the TEs, since the placement for the implants would be a little different (in my case, my implants are moved in closer together than my TEs were). Made sense to me. Even now, I'm not planning on doing any pushups or pullups--I want to wait for these things to drop, and then i'll get back into that routine. I have pretty solid pecs anyway, so at this point, I have WELL-DEFINED upper poles! hahaha! I DID do Brazil Buttlift, and when i did the floor exercises, I put a pillow under my upper body, which helped a lot. No Insanity or Asylum--too much jumping. Yes, P90X, but light weights and no pushups.

SO...my doc appt went really well. My PS is of the camp that I should always, always wear a bra--even a sports bra to bed. He WANTS me to wear an underwire during the day so it will help create scar tissue at the fold, which will ultimately help keep the implant in place. The sportsbra at night is to also help keep them nice. He's very thorough. Anyone else's PS recommend this? I did a quick Google search and it seems to be a 50/50 consensus amongst PS's to sleep in something supportive.
Still happy I have squishy boobs,
Steph

okay so per ps no chest muscle exercises/strengthening period. everything else ok..and then nothing again for a few weeks after exchange surgery...and on a side note..even though i had such anxiety after final fill that I would be too big..I am now getting used to size and am glad I didn't go back to have some removed!
Have a great day!! 0 -
hi ladies
i just had my exchange monday...12pm and stayed the night in the hospital bc the anaesthetic made me sick as a dog
anyway...they look really really swollen, how long before this settles? how long before you know what "you got", im all taped up but they just look like mellons
as for the bra debate - PS said a sports bra is fine, after 6wks whatever i want - did you guys go home in a special bra?
i cant feel a difference yet because i am so sore...please tell me that changes
0 -
Hi rosem...Sorry about your bad experiance with anesthesia!!! I had exchange surgery last Thursday. Took my last pain pill on Sat. Aleve on sunday and monday worked great and yesterday nothing at all. I am very swollen still and feel like I have on a tight bra, but not much soreness. PS told my family I would be pretty sore. When the doctor says that.........you KNOW it is true. Hang in there! I'm actually kind of liking mine now!

stewbie - i just read your note about a bra at all times...how soon after exchange surgery did you wear one? im so sore i cant imagine putting one on any time soon
0 -
Stewbie- I was told to wear a bra all the time to...
Rosem- I wasent allowed to wear a bra until one week after surgery and it wasent comfortable but am getting use to it now...0 -
Thank you for your answer, CindyLooWho. Makes me feel better.
And thank you, Stewbie for that great explanation!
chawkins, sounds like you are on the mend!
Rozem, so glad you feel better and sorry the anesthesia made you sick. I had surgery a couple of years beofre my BMX that made me really sick afterward, and I told this to the anestheseologist. She was awesome and even checked on me the next day, so I called my PS and asked if I could request her for my exchange, and they said YES! Wasn't sure if any of you who haven't had your exchange yet knew you could request.

I was doing 100 modified push ups a day, a week after my BMX, HOWEVER, I did not have expanders in at that time, as my expander surgery was a month later. (I was doing the push ups after recovery from thumb arthroplasty surgery which was in May, taking one of my tendons out of my arm to replace the bone that was removed and wrapping the tendon around my nerve in the thumb as a bone replacement, so I would still have feeling in my thumb, which invovled a cast up to my elbow, with a spike of a pin.
I found I lost a LOT of my arm muscle post thumb/arm surgery due to inactivity when I was unable to use that hand and arm again in Sept.
It has been about 6 weeks since the TE surgery and I am now able to do about 20 modified push ups.
I have noticed if I flex my arms at the elbow, I can move my "foobs"....so so strange!!!Has anyone else noticed that?
Di
Off to get a fill in a few minutes.

Di2012: Yes! I can actually make the girls (still TEs though) 'dance' to the beat of music if it's not too fast!
Cheryl_e: I haven't had my exchange yet but I was able to sit up by myself after the BMX. Like CindyLooWho, I guess I have better abs than I thought underneath the fluff. My nurses just laughed at the way I'd get back into bed after being up, too. I didn't like sitting on the edge, bringing the legs up and then trying to butt-walk my way to comfort so I got in the habit of just stepping up onto the hospital bed and sitting down kind of 'Indian' style instead and then stretching the legs out. Yes, I actually more or less stood on the bed and sat down. Must have been the pain meds, I'm not sure I could do that right now!

Lisa Jayne....you made me smile......I only did it in the privacy of the bathroom.....but I did ask my PS today and he said yes, it is one of those things that happen with under the muscle.
I smiled at my PS today as he walked into the room, I was already lying down and said "FILL ER UP!!" and he chuckled and said I see you are ready. (He is the same age as my daughter)
After the fill he said I may be DONE, and cancel next week and see him in 2 weeks....for maybe a "topping it off"
I ask about how long I had to wear a bra, and he said I will not need to wear one if I don't want to, and he also said if I had back and neck pain, (I ALWAYS DO) it may diminish as well....as I was DD++ and My posture and back has suffered my whole life.....my main reason for going small...besides never being able to buy a dress that fits in the top and is way to big on the bottom ( I am a size 4 Petite in jeans)
I am seeing LIGHT as the end of this tunnel!!!

Just met with my PS today. Got a surgery date for exchange in 3 weeks!! I'm so excited I feel like Christmas is coming! He told me he would be putting a Naturelle smooth round implant somewhere between 300 and 400ccs. I have a 500 cc expander in now (left MX only). He is also going to lift the original breast at the same time. Does it sound right that I have so much in the expander and then get so much smaller of an implant? I keep reading about people who get BIGGER implants than the expander so I'm wondering. He said this is how he matches....always goes bigger than actual implant. He also doesn't want me to wear a bra, even immediately after. He covers with gauze and steristrips and sends me home. Rechecks in 5-7 days, sports bra or something like it for a couple of weeks, then any bra I want. Do alot of PS go this route? Anyway, just delighted to get this horrid expander out! I'd like to take it home and burn it!

Happy to have had my exchange yesterday, with a little lift to 'normal' breast! Somehow I was in a fantasyland thinking I'd know what everything looked like immediately. But with tape and swelling, I guess I need to be patient. A tape 'sling' is in place, because apparently the implant wanted to wander off towards armpit. hmmm.
For those talking about apres surgery bra care, I was told to wear a sports bra (but not too tight) 24/7 for three weeks. I can do this, because soon after I'll have such cute small perky breasts that I may never have to wear a bra again. ~smile~
Gave up the narcotic painkillers for gel cap advil... seems to be enough for the pain.
Went into the surgery singing "Happy Boobday to me".. and I swear the med team were singing it too, or maybe I imagined that as I went under. ~smile~
Breast wishes to all of you as we get to move forward to a more comfy natural feeling body!

Feelingthemagic,
Congrats on having surgery0 -
Hi ladies and congrats to all who have moved to the squishy side. Im so ready to get theses things out. I see my PS today for him to check my skin out post rads. He will fill my left side Im sure since they deflated it for rads on the right. I cant wait to complain to him how sore my rad side has been, lol. I think he will make me wait at least 3 months for surgery. I cant wait. I have a stupid question, Are your implants as big as the te's were? Thanks ladies. Hugs

Melmcbee,
Congrats on finishing rads!!!
I think you'll find a variety of answers to your TE/implant size question.
My implants are much bigger than my TE's were. I'm three weeks post-exchange today and getting used to the "new me." Squishy is definitely better than the coconut shells.
Best wishes to you!0 -
melmcbee- i am 3 mos post exchange and my implants are smaller than TE's. I was LOVING the size of my TE's, I thought they were the perfect size. I was filled to 800 cc's on my rt side and 750 cc's on my lt. When I was in the OR my PS put a 800 cc implant on the rt and a 650 cc implant on the lt. When I questioned him regarding the size difference he said that I had more skin than he planned on me having. My implants are a good size just wish they were a bit bigger. Still holding out hope that a 1600 cc implant comes out so I can go bigger.

Dulci do you feel a lot better with the implants? Remind me - are they cohesive gel? I need to know that there is a good outcome waiting for me 2 months way. I'm thinking of gettin mod projection cohesive teardrops for a natural look, but really need to do more research. I'll be filed to about 440 ccs prior.
Appreciate any feedback any of you have. I'm tall at 5'6" at 140 lbs, slender upper body, don't know what an upper pole is but definately don't want that round separated look that you often see on older ladies with cosmetic implants. I want to look as natural as possible, of course with minimal ptosis.

Shellshine- Good luck to you on your impending surgery. Does your PS use teardrop or round shaped implants? I had asked mine about teardrop and he said that not all people can carry off a teardrop implant, me being one of them because my chest is wide. Your PS may also have a specific shape he prefers. So you may want to check with him and see which one he prefers and why. Just a thought.

I had my 2nd exchange surgery last June. Very happy with the results. My PS used the sling on the side that had the cancer. The previous PS gave me too small of an implant for the pocket and they were under my armpits. They looked like I had footballs placed sideways in my chest. Now I just have to get my nipples & areolas. I've been on the fence about whether to do 3-D tattooing or just go with the nipples.
It's strange how PS all have different opinions on whether we should wear a bra or not. I was a DD before my DMX and now I am a C cup and rarely wear a bra which my PS said was okay. After having large, droopy breasts since I had my kids (20+ years ago!) I am enjoying the freedom of not having to wear a bra. They look great in a tank top and I have had no noticeable ptosis. I know if I get nipples I will have show through which is why I am still on the fence.
I know Vinnie Meyers is great but I live in Southwest Florida and don't want to travel to New Orleans. Anybody know of a great 3-D tattoo person in the Fort Myers area?

Hi Cheryl e, I'm excited for you. I know you're not doing the Sientra for exchange but did you look at them? My PS is saying they are good for our build but lots of conflicting info. Saw your pics...they already look great:)

congrats to ladies who just had exchange! am so happy for you!!

FeelingtheMagic - congratulations on crossing over to the Squishy Side!!!
melmcbee - My 700cc implants are BIGGER than my 620cc TEs, but look SMALLER.
They are nicely molded to my chest wall instead of looking like glued-on river rocks.

So those with TEs still and those who have had exchanges...do you have days where you feel pretty darn good and then days where pings of pain are prevalent and shoulder (or something else) hurts with certain movements and you wonder whats going on, or if something is wrong? I have been feeling pretty good, then yesterday my shoulder was hurting with any forward motion, and odd pain near my scapula, and soreness with TEs and skin was tighter than previously??!! I thought maybe I was in a time warp or something..and ofcourse was worried. My shoulder is better today, but TEs feel tight again... do you guys experience this too/or did you when you had TEs? Do you have this with exchange too?

Shellshine,
Yes they definitely feel better. Each day I seem to have less pain where most of my stitching was done.
I am also 5'6". Right now (booooo!) I'm close to 150, but prediagnosis was 142 and am on my way back there! Yes. Cohesive gel Allergan style 45 800 cc's. I wanted a very natural look too. Lefty is cooperating well. Righty needs to drop a bit, but it's only been 3 weeks. I suspect the combination of my implants and the style of me TE's are responsible for the naturalish slope. I had the Allergan 133SX expanders. They are short height so that the upper pole (top half of the breast) was not expanded. I do not have that "circle" look on top that you spoke of. I'm a bit bigger than I had planned to be, but am very pleased with the shape, symmetry, level, and projection. If you are a member of the picture forum my thread is Hello and Thanks.0
